Abstract

The kidneys are a pair of symmetrical organs that function to filter the blood and are located in the retroperitoneal region on the posterior wall of the abdomen. The kidneys are drained about 25% of cardiac output. Kidney damage due to the accumulation of kidney stones can be caused by ethylene glycol substances to form calcium oxalate crystals (CaC2O4). This crystal is common in urine specimens even in healthy animals. Crystal formation can be accelerated by the administration of ammonium chloride. This study aims to determine the nephroprotective effects of balakka ethanol extract to reduce creatinine and urea levels in rats induced by ethylene glycol and ammonium chloride. The results showed that the balakka ethanol extract with a dose variation of 50 mg/kg body weight, 100 mg/kg body weight, and 150 mg/kg body weight had nephroprotective activity in rats that had been induced by ethylene glycol and ammonium chloride. Where the induction group had the largest serum creatinine mean of 1.43 mg/dl. The EEB treatment group dose of 50 mg / kgBB had a serum creatinine value of 1.01 mg / dl. The EEB treatment group dose of 100 mg / kgBB had a serum value of 0.91 mg / dl. The balakka ethanol extract treatment group dose of 150 mg / kgBB had a serum value of 0.73 mg / dl. The induction group had the largest serum urea serum of 76.56 mg/dl. EEB treatment group dose of 50 mg / kgBB had serum urea value of 63.36 mg / dl. The EEB treatment group dose of 100 mg / kgBB had a serum urea value of 49.73 mg / dl. The balakka ethanol extract treatment group dose of 150 mg / kgBB had a serum urea value of 49.90 mg / dl. Abstract

Breast cancer is one of the world's leading cause of death in women. Due to the resistance of chemotherapeutic agents, there is a continuous need to search of natural products with anticancer activity. The use of natural products is expected to increase the effectiveness and decrease side effect. The purpose of this study was to investigate the anticancer activity of ethanol extract of andaliman fruits (EEAF) towards 4T1 cells. Extracts were prepared by maceration using solvent ethanol 96%. 4T1 cells were grown in culture medium DMEM then given by EEAF and doxorubicin. Cytotoxic test in vitro was done by MTT method [3-(4,5-dimetiltiazol-2-il) -2.5 difeniltetrazolium bromide] which is then analyzed using SPSS 21. The results from this study showed that the cytotoxic results (IC50) after treatment with EEAF and doxorubicin were 54.48 ± 0.22 µg/mL dan 0.80 ± 0.02 µg/mL.Based on the result above, we conclude that EEAF has cytotoxic activity towards 4T1 cancer cells. Abstract

This study was aimed to formulate ketoconazole into nanoemulsion form and to compared the penetration ability of each formula with ketoconazole cream on the market as control. Formulation of nanoemulsion uses spontaneous methods and and also measurement of particle using the Particle Size Analyzer (PSA). In vitro penetration test used Franz diffusion cells. The results showed that nanoemulsion of each formula had different particle  sizes, it was due to the distress of homogenizing two different systems, the duration and speed of stirring also affect the homogenity. The higher concentration of surfactant (tween 80) in the nanoemulation preparation could increasing the penetration ability of the preparation, but if the concentration exceeds the critical micelle concentration (CMC), a tight surfactant matrix (tween 80) will be formed which causes the release of ketoconazole to be slowed. Based on the observation, the highest penetration test was formula F3 as many as 4,268.01 µg/cm.

Abstract

The objectives of the study are to investigated the growth-inhibiting and apoptosis mediating effect of Plectranthus amboinicus (Lour.) Spreng n-hexane extract (PANE) on T47D cell lines. The assays were performed in the study were cytotoxicity assay and apoptosis induction of T47D cells. The cytotoxicity effects were determined by using MTT [3-(4,5-dimethylthiazole-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide] assay. The effect of apoptosis were observed by ethidium bromide-acrydine orange method. The growth of T47D was inhibited by treatment with PANE on concentrations 20; 40; dan 80 µg/mL. The cell death (apoptosis) induced by PANE was characterized by orange fluorescent on the IC50 concentration. These results concluded that the n-hexane extract of Plectranthus amboinicus, (Lour.) Spreng. inhibited the growth of T47D breast cancer cells in dose and time dependent manners. PANE also could induced apoptosis on T47D breast cancer cells, but the combination of PANE-doxorubicine did not show the synergistic effect. The results suggesting that PANE may be a potent agent for the chemoprevention of breast cancer.

Abstract

Abstract. Collaboration is a complex process that requires planned knowledge sharing and be a joint responsibility to treat patients. The purpose of this study was to determine the perception of doctors and pharmacists in terms of the aspects of acceptance, expectations, and experience in collaborating on pharmaceutical care services on general hospital of H. Adam Malik Medan. This research is a survey research, located at general hospital of H. Adam Malik Medan. The sample in this study were 50 doctors and 10 pharmacists at general hospital of H. Adam Malik Medan. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire. Analysis of the data used is descriptive analysis. The conclusion of this study is the perception of acceptance, current and future doctor's expectations of the role of pharmacists in collaborating on pharmaceutical care services is quite high, and perception of acceptance, pharmacist's current and future expectations of the role of pharmacists in collaborating on pharmaceutical care services are also high enough.

Abstract

Abstract. The use of snakehead fish (Channa striata) collagen in cream is an alternative toreduce fish wastes. It has been proved that snakehead fish (Channa striata) contain collagen.This research aims to study the burn wound healing effectivity of bone’s collagen fromsnakehead fish (Channa striata) that is formulated into a cream. This study used theexperimental method with the bone of snakehead fish (Channa striata) as a sample. This studyconsisted of 4 (four) such as isolation of collagen from snakehead fish's (Channa striata) bone,characterization of collagen by analyzing moisture, ash, protein, fat and functional groupanalysis with FTIR, formulation, and evaluations of cream such as organoleptic test,homogeneity test, pH measurement, stability test, and irritation test, and burn wound healingtest in male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) and the result is analyzed using SPSS 22.0 Free trialand One Way ANOVA and Post-Hoc Tukey HSD. The results showed that fish collagen couldbe isolated from snakehead fish (Channa striata) and the yield obtained is 33.3%. The results ofcollagen characterization and evaluation test met the collagen standard requirements. Results ofthe burn wound healing test on male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) showed that K1 burn woundrecovered on day 21, K2 on day 12, K3 on day 15, K4 on day 18, and K5 on day 18.Measurement of burn wound diameter on day 21 showed K1 = 1.20 cm, K2 = 0.15 cm, K3 =0.10 cm, K4 = 0.45 cm, K5 = 0.40 cm. The results of the statistical analysis of burn wounddiameter showed a significant difference p = 0,000 (p <0.05) between each group. K3 showedthe reduction in the burn wound diameter is faster and the smallest, it can be concluded that theoptimal dose of snakehead fish bone’s collagen cream is a concentration of 3%.

Abstract

Since last year of December 2019, a virus has been identifying in china’s city of Wuhan, virus name Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Disease is a very scary Disease. This disease is a challenge for Human for cure. These virus are effected all over the world’s country like America, Brazil, Turkey, China, Italy, Iran, India, Canada Russia etc., this virus first time reported in relation to the Huainan Seafood Wholesale Market (South China Seafood City Food Market) in Wuhan, China. This market gained media attention after being identified as a point of origin of the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic. This virus have the common sign & symptoms like pneumonia and show symptoms of fever, headache, joint pain, Common cold, chills, shortness of breath, cough severe pneumonia, dyspnea, renal insufficiency. The detection of 2019- SCoV-like viruses in tiny size, live wild mammals in a market indicates a route of inters species spreading, although the natural loch is not known. This theory assembles a study of the molecular biology fundamental of these infectious agents, with particular prominence on the nature and identify of viral receptors, viral RNA synthesis, and the molecular interactions governing viral assembly.

Abstract

Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is a disorder of the cardiovascular system, characterized by atherosclerotic lesions. Inflammation is a strong predictor for coronary heart disease. High sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP) is an important biomarker, synthesized in the liver, can predict the severity of CHD. If the hs-CRP level is found to be low 3 mg / L, a person has the potential for severe vascular risk. Therefore, hs-CRP can be used as a predictor of primary CHD prevention, especially if the hs-CRP level is still low.

Abstract

Acne is one problem in adolescents and adults who can reduce self-confidence. This study aimed to formulate the combination cream of African leaf extract and palm oil leaves to determine the antibacterial activity of African leaf extract against several acne-causing bacteria (Propionibacterium acne and Staphylococcus epidermidis). Test antibacterial activity of extracts and cream with disc diffusion method. The cream is made with concentration of 5, 10 and 20% w/w. The evaluation results of cream with concentration of 5, 10 and 20% were physically stable for 4 weeks of storage at temperature room, homogeneous, pH and it did not cause irritation. Based on the test results, a combination of African leaf extract with concentration of 5% effectively inhibited bacterial growth with an average inhibition zone diameter of 12.06 mm for Propionibacterium acne bacteria and 13.63 mm for Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. The result of this study suggest that combination of African leaf extract and palm leaves posses potent anti-bacterial activity against Propionibacterium acne and Staphylococcus epidermidis.

Abstract

Piroxicam is an anti-inflammatory drug of the NSAID class that is commonly used as an analgesic and anthireumatic drug. Its use is often combined with gastric drugs, one of which is omeprazole, considering the side effects of piroxicam which can irritate the stomach. Piroxicam and omeprazole work on the same enzyme, CYP-450 so that it can affect the pharmacokinetic profile especially in the metabolic and excretion phases of piroxicam. This research is an experimental study using 3 male rabbits. Measurement of plasma levels of piroxicam drug is carried out using a High Performance’s Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) tool. The validation method is used to determine LOD and LOQ values, accuracy, and precision tests. The results of data analysis using t-tables. The results showed the value of pharmacokinetic parameters in the absorption phase increased or there were differences but did not show any significant effect on each group. While the pharmacokinetic parameter values ​​in the metabolic and excretion phases decreased and showed no differences between groups. The administration of omeprazole and piroxicam together and the administration of piroxicam which was given an hour earlier by omeprazole can inhibit the enzyme that stimulates the metabolism of piroxicam so that it affects the pharmacokinetic parameters in the absorption phase and also excretion but is not significant.
