Jurnal Warta Pengabdian Andalas (JWA) Jurnal Warta Pengabdian Andalas (JWA) is a scientific journal managed by LPPM Universitas Andalas. This journal accepts articles related to community services for Indonesian society in field of both life and social sciences. It is published four times in a year, namely March, June, September, and December.   Jurnal Warta Pengabdian Andalas (JWA), with registered number ISSN 0854-655X (print),  is a scientific multidisciplinary journal published by Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Universitas Andalas. It is in the national level that covers a lot of common problems or issues related to community services. The aim of this journal publication is to disseminate the conceptual thoughts or ideas and research results that have been achieved in the area of community services. Jurnal Warta Pengabdian Andalas (JWA), contains various activities of the teaching staff in Universitas Andalas in handling and managing the various potentials, obstacles, challenges, and problems that exist in society. Implementation of service activities also involve the participation of the community and partners. Service activities are organized into an activity aimed at improving the welfare of society. In the following year of publication, the journal is going to publish four-nually. Any interested author could submit the manuscript following the submission guidelines. Please read these guidelines carefully. Authors who want to submit their manuscript to the editorial office of Jurnal Warta Pengabdian Andalas (JWA) should obey the writing guidelines. If the manuscript submitted is not appropriate with the guidelines or written in a different format, it will be REJECTED by the editors before further reviewed. The editors will only accept the manuscripts which meet the assigned format. Every article that goes to the editorial staff will be selected through Desk Review and Initial Manuscript Evaluation processes by Editorial Board. Then, the articles will be sent to the peer reviewer and will go to the next selection by Double Blind Peer-Review Process. Further details on reviewing policy and processes are available on submission guidelines.

Abstract

This service aims to introduce the concept and utilization of cooperatives to citrus farmers in Gunung Omeh District, Limapuluh Kota Regency. The method used was the lecture method (counseling) and training. There were many farmers who do not know about cooperatives, cooperative objectives, cooperative benefits and how the cooperative formation process and willing to form a cooperative formation committee. It was hoped that the government can help the farmers to establish an cooperative system.

Abstract

This community service is caused by the tendency to strengthen the understanding of religious radicalism in society. Understanding radicalism obtained by the public along with developments in technology and information such as social media. In general, the understanding of radicalism has penetrated specific target groups such as young people. On the one hand, young people are among those who are vulnerable and potentially exposed to religious radicalism. On the other hand, young people are also potential groups in counter the understanding of religious radicalism. Community organizations such as Muhammadiyah have a strategic role in counteracting understanding of religious radicalism. Young people have a tactical and strategic role in counteracting the understanding of religious radicalism that tends to strengthen lately. Therefore, the seeding of thoughts, ideas, ideas of counter-radicalism and religious de-radicalism becomes relevant to carry out. The method used was a brainstorming technique, to find out the solution of a problem by gathering ideas spontaneously from group members. After that, it was then followed by a lecture method that ends up with a discussion. The results of this devotion showed an understanding of religious moderate for Muhammadiyah youth as a counter to understand the religious radicalism.

Abstract

Origami is one of the arts in folding paper from Japan. Through this origami workshop, not only adults, even the children, could increase their imagination and creativity in the early years. Based on this reason, Japanese Department Universitas Andalas carried out the Origami workshop to the children in the PAUD Jannatul Nai'em Sungai Buluh. This workshop was a part of community service as the lecturer of the University. The workshop activity provided three sessions. The first session was to give an introduction about origami for understanding, history, types, and benefits of origami. The second session was training on making origami in various forms. Then the last session was evaluation, which aims to confirm whether the children could absorb the material well and whether the children could work on the process of making origami on their own. This activity was very beneficial for children in improving their motoric skills. Origami is an alternative skill game where the skill games begin to abandon due to the presence of a smartphone and other digital gadgets.

Abstract

After the enactment of the Village Law which is full of various new policies, it also has implications for the Village Consultative Body (BPD) with changes in the position, duties, functions and authority of the BPD. One of them is the issuance of Permendagri No. 110/2016 concerning BPD, and most recently in the context of West Sumatra the issuance of the Regional Regulation of West Sumatra Province No 7/2018 concerning Nagari. This Perda is claimed to be the first indigenous village regulation in Indonesia that wants to show the existence of Nagari "Asli" vis a vis with the implementation of modern village government in the implementation of public services. On the other hand, the weak role and function of BPD in running village government still occurs, including Nagari Sumanik. This dedication activity was to provide an understanding of the shifting position of BPRN; increase the understanding of BPRN members regarding their roles, functions, duties and authorities; and strengthening the role of BPRN in supporting the administration of the nagari government. The method of implementing community service included 3 (three) stages, namely; 1) Preparation; 2) Implementation; and, 3) Program evaluation or reflection on activities. Not all Regencies / Cities have responded to the policies of the Nagari Government in West Sumatra, including the Tanah Datar District, so this service activity is important for BPRN Sumanik, where not all members have a government background in strengthening their capacity to carry out their duties and functions and anticipate changes in policy.

Abstract

The purpose of this service was to provide youth counselor training about risky sexual behavior in Padang City State Senior High School in 2018. The method used in the pre and post experiment quasi. Pre Test was done to find out the students' initial knowledge about premarital sexual behavior. Then training was conducted on risky sexual behavior. After that the Post Test was carried out. Post Test was done to find out the results of the training of adolescent counselors about risky sexual behavior. The results of the knowledge analysis of students who took counseling on sexual behavior and peer counselors found that the average knowledge of students in the first survey before extension was 54.37 with a minimum value of 43.33 from a maximum of 66.67. Whereas in the second or post test measurement after giving the material obtained the average student knowledge about sexual behavior and peer counselor is 81.04 with a minimum value of 76.67 and a maximum of 86.67. So, there was a significant increase in knowledge in high school students in the independent pathway about sexual behavior and peer counselors.

Abstract

Dalam masyarakat Minangkabau yang berdasarkan adat bersendi syara’, syara’ bersendikan kitabullah, LBGT merupakan perilaku menyimpang. Perilaku menyimpang adalah tindakan yang melanggar aturan-aturan atau pranata sosial yang berlaku dalam sistem sosial (Soetomo, 2006). Banyak faktor yang menjadi penyebab seseorang menjadi penyuka sesama jenis. Berdasarkan hasil identifikasi sebanyak 14 persen penyuka sesama jenis disebabkan karena pernah disakiti dan dikecewakan lawan jenis, dan 13,8 persen berada di lingkungan komunitas LGBT, 12,9 persen dirayu oleh pelaku LGBT, 8,2 persen pernah disodomi waktu kecil dan ada 5,5 persen dididik tidak sesuai dengan gender, misalnya memberi boneka pada laki-laki. Perilaku LGBT telah menimbulkan berbagai dampak yang merugikan masyarakat. Kepala Bidang Pemenuhan Hak Anak dari Lembaga Perlindungan Anak Indonesia (LPAI), Reza Indra Giri menilai, bahwa lesbian, gay, biseksual, dan transgender (LGBT) merupakan ancaman bagi kehidupan bangsa Indonesia yang religius. Kehidupan beragama, ketahanan keluarga dan kepribadian bangsa. Dalam konteks sistem hukum, LGBT menjadi ancaman besar terhadap sistem hukum perkawinan di Indonesia serta mengancam generasi penerus bangsa. Secara individu, perilaku LGBT dapat menjadi media penularan HIV/AIDS. Spesialis kulit dan kelamin dokter Dewi Inong Irana mengemukakan, kelompok Lelaki Seks dengan Lelaki (LSL) atau yang dikenal sebagai gay, 60 kali lipat lebih gampang tertular HIV/AIDS. Meningkatnya jumlah pelaku LGBT dan gambaran hasil penelitian mengisyaratkan bahwa keluarga dan tokoh masyarakat perlu lebih diberdayakan dalam mencegah warga masyarakat berafiliasi terhadap gerakan sosial LGBT. Permasalahan mitra yang perlu dipecahkan adalah bagaimana memberdayakan keluarga dan tokoh masyarat untuk mencegah agar masyarakat tidak berafiliasi dengan gerakan sosial LGBT.

Abstract

The dedication was held on 2 (two) groups of farmers in Padang Panjang, which Farmers Group Permata Ibu and Lembah Makmur. The problems that be founded were (1) the production of milk was still low, (2) the lacked of diversification of products and packaging technology, (3). lacked of market segmentation. These activities provided information to improve the quality and quantity of milk production. Providing products diversification Technologies such as making yogurt, ice cream and milk pudding method. Then all of these products were packed by using innovations such as the use of plastic cups and aluminum foil that has been labeled the farmer groups. Market expansion was conducted in several schools, cafes and restaurants in Padang Panjang City.

Abstract

UPSUS SIWAB Program is a Special Effort for Obligatory Bovine Cows which is a continuation of the government's program of self-sufficiency in meat. The purpose of this activity was to analyze breeders' knowledge and evaluate the success of the program in Bayang District, Pesisir Selatan Regency. The method used was a survey method with the results of direct interviews, and questionnaires with various community groups, and farmers. Data analysis used descriptive analysis. The result showed that the implementation of the UPSUS SIWAB program in 2018 in Bayang Subdistrict, Pesisir Selatan Regency has not been 100% implemented. However, the information of this special program was known by farmers, as much as 80% from the Animal Husbandry Department's counseling and 20% from fellow breeders. This shows that the counseling or socialization conducted by the government has not reached all farmers in Bayang District. Meanwhile, the results of the performance of this program were the number of acceptors who have been at IB in 2017 (1,213 individuals) and increased by 73% in 2018 (2,100 individuals). There were the number of Artificial Insemination in 2017 (1,314 times) and increased by 92% in 2018 (2,526 times), the number of acceptors pregnant in 2017 (1,158) and decreased by 2% in 2018 (1,136), the number of births in 2017 (766) and decreased by 80% in 2018 (151 tails).

Abstract

Drug abuse has been so alarming that victims of both young and adult children always fall every day and tend to increase from year to year. Various strategies have been carried out by the government to eradicate this drug crime, including preventive efforts to schools. Pariaman City as a crossing area in West Sumatra is a place that is prone to this drug crime. To that end, in an effort to prevent the occurrence of drug crimes, especially for high school students in Pariaman City, activities have been carried out in the form of pharmaceutical promotive actions (Apotek-R). The purpose of this activity is to know the description of the knowledge of high school students in Pariaman City, about Drugs and the influence of the Apotek-R activities on the prevention of drug abuse. The method used in the form of Communication, Information and Education (CIE) uses a pharmacy promotion action (Apotek-R). From this activity information was obtained that the knowledge of high school students in Pariaman City about drug problems is quite good. Promotional action activities of pharmacy (Apotek-R) can be used as a model in providing positive activities in efforts to prevent drug abuse among high school students.

Abstract

Kelompok Muda Berkarya is a fisheries business group engaged in catfish farming. Issues incurred by partners are the costs incurred to buy pellets and slow growth of catfish. Besides that, the Kelompok Muda Berkarya and homemakers of fishers on Vilagge Pulau Karam are also interested in getting training on the manufacture of catfish processed products. However, there is no information on how to process it. Thus, improvement was carried out using counseling and demonstration methods, assistance, monitoring, and evaluation. From the results of the activities carried out, improving the understanding of fostered partners in making fish feed by adding papain enzymes and making catfish nuggets. The resulting pellets require low production costs and can be increased growth of catfish.
