Abstract

Students in learning activities show low self-control behaviors, namely during ongoing learning activities students often carry out activities that are not related to the learning process. Efforts can be made to improve students' self control by carrying out information services with problem based learning model . The research methodology used is quantitative, this type of research is Quasi Experiment with the design of The Non Equivalent Control Group Design. The subjects of this study were class VIII 3 students as an experimental group and class VIII 8 students as a control group at SMP Negeri 13 Padang. The research instrument used was a Likert model scale. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov Two Independent Sample test. The results showed that the information service with problem based learning model was effective to improve students' self control.

Abstract

Drug abuse in adolescents is increasingly margined, drug abuse can cause a variety of negative impacts. Understanding is one of the most important aspects in the prevention of drug abuse. This research aims to determine the understanding of adolescents in SMK Negeri 9 Padang on the Dangers of Drug Abuse. This research uses quantitative descriptive methods. The population of this research was 435 students of class X of SMK Negeri 9 Padang. The research sample was 204 students. Based on research results 145 students (71%) Have an understanding of the dangers of drugs in the sufficient category, 55 students (27%) In good category, and 4 students (2%) In the less category. Understanding of students in SMK Negeri 9 Padang, the majority of which are in sufficient category and some students are in the category of less must be sought to be more improved.

Abstract

This research is motivated by (1) students prefer to have friends with certain people, (2) students who are smart but lack courage in expressing opinions, (3) students who are diligent in joining extracurricular activities but are less courageous in opinion. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) group format in an effort to improve students' self-concepts caused by irrational thinking. This study uses the Quasi Experiment method with the design of The Non Equivalent Control Group. The subjects of the study were eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Lubuk Basung (10 control groups and 10 experimental groups). The research instrument used a self-concept scale with a validity of 0.387 and a reliability of 0.870. Data analysis using nonparametric statistics with Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Kolmogorov Smirnov 2 Independent Samples. The findings of the study show that the REBT approach to the effective group format to improve students' self-concepts, this can be seen from the increase in the self-concept scores of the experimental group students is greater than the control group's self-concept scores.

Abstract

This research begins from the condition of students’ discipline associated to the utilization of school canteen. The aim of the research is to obtain an overview regarding the information services provided by the guidance and counseling teachers. The background of the research is about the students’ discipline associated to school canteen, condition and role of school canteen and also the role of guidance and counseling service particularly information service. The research used a descriptive quantitative method. Then, the population was the principal, guidance and counseling teachers, and students in Padang City Vocational School who were selected by using the purposive sampling technique. The research findings are: 1) the condition and role of school stalls according to the opinion of principal are in good category and according to the opinion of guidance and counseling teachers are in good enough category. 2) Students' disciplin in the utilization of school canteen according to the opinion of guidance and counseling teachers are good, meanwhile the student' opinions  are good enough category. 3) The implementation of information services associated to the utilization of school canteens according to guidance and counseling teachers and students is in the good category.

Abstract

Social conflict became one of the phenomena commonly found in schools. To avoid conflict, good adjustment is needed. Meanwhile there are still many multi-ethnic students who have difficulty adjusting themselves to cause conflicts such as fights, disputes and debates that lead to violence. The aim is to find out the picture of adjustment and social conflict experienced by students and to know the relationship between adjustment and social conflict experienced by students. The research sample consisted of 104 students with Stratified Random Sampling. The instrument used was a questionnaire about adjusting the Likert Scale model with a reliability of 0.724 and a questionnaire about social conflict at 0.727. The results showed that there was a significant negative relationship between adjustment and social conflict experienced by students (r = -0.582). If the adjustment of students is getting better, the social conflicts experienced by students will decrease and vice versa. It means that some of the multi-ethnic students experience social conflict and counseling services are needed to resolve the conflict.

Abstract

Students sometimes make cheating behaviors to achieve good grades in the exam. Cheating behavior is clearly cheating behavior that students should not do. The purpose of this study is to change the cheating behavior of students using the CBT approach, setting group. This study is a Quasi Experiment that uses quantitative methods and The Non-Equivalent Control Group Desig. The research subjects of class X of SMK Negeri 1 Gunung Talang was identified as having a tendency to cheat. The research instrument used a cheating behavior scale that fulfilled the requirements of the research instrument, then analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test and the Kolmogorov Smirnov 2 Independent Samples test. The findings of this study show that in general CBT counseling group settings are effective for changing student attitudes toward cheating behavior. This finding can be discussed further.

Abstract

Empathy is an important ability that must be developed and developed in students representing youth, as human beings who experience a transition of empathy need students to be able to improve what other people think and think that might happen quarrels, fights, bullying, and other actions, the lives of students more calm and peaceful. Today there has been an erosion of empathy in students this is caused by dependence on gadgets, instrumental learning, competition, differences, depression, alcohol, and other. The purpose of this study is to increase students' empathy using group guidance with role playing techniques. This research is a quasi-experimental study using quantitative methods and the non-equivalent control group design. The subject of this study were students of class VIII MT S N 1 Payakumbuh. The research instrument used an empathy scale that met the requirements of the research instrument, then analyzed using the Faired sample t test and the independent sample t test. This research cannot be applied to everyone, it needs further development. The findings of this study indicate group guidance with effective play techniques to improve students. These findings will be discussed further.

Abstract

Learning skills is demands that must be possessed by students to achieve maximum learning outcomes. This study aims to reveal the picture of students' learning skills in junior high school 25 Padang state. This research uses the quantitative approach with descriptive analysis method. The sample consisted of 31 students of class VIII selected at random. The instrument used is a learning skill questionnaire with a reliability of 0.754. The results showed that the students' learning skill was in the high category with an average score of 144 with the achievement level of 76%.

Abstract

The less understanding of the discipline learning by the student causes students to violate the rules and regulations that have been set in the school environment. This problem occurs because students are not aware of the meaning of the discipline learning, so it takes effort to improve students' understanding of the discipline learning. The understanding of learning discipline of the student is not seen in terms of attendance at school, taking lessons in class, managing time, school rules and free time. One of the efforts that made in improving student understanding is by the information service of the Jigsaw Cooperative Learning model. This study aimed to test the effectiveness of information services with the Jigsaw Cooperative Learning model to improve students' understanding of the discipline learning. This research used quantitative methods. The type of research was a Quasi Experiment with the design of The One Group Pretest-Posttest (without using a control group). The population of this study were Dian Andalas Padang High School students and the sample was selected using the Purposive Sampling technique. The instrument of the research was using a Likert Scale model (a questionnaire about the understanding of student learning discipline), the data were analyzed with the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test with the help of SPSS version 20. The results showed that the average score of pretest 123 and posttest 160. Based on the results of this study, it was concluded that the service information with the Jigsaw Cooperative Learning model is effective for increasing understanding of student learning discipline.

Abstract

This research aims to determine social support for adolescent resilience in dealing with conflict in divorced parental environments that includes phase dimensions, and resilience strategies. This article is based on research using a qualitative method of case study type. Research subjects numbered 3 teenagers with the criteria of having divorced parents alive. Data collection techniques used in the form of in-depth interviews and observation. The data analysis technique used by researchers is guided by the Miles & Huberman model. The results of the analysis of research data indicate that the resilience phase that is passed by adolescents whose parents divorced live differently from each other. This is influenced by social support factors obtained by adolescents in facing life's challenges. The different phases through which each subject will also distinguish the resilience strategies used by each subject to survive in the face of conflict in the environment of divorced parents.
