Sastra Terapan, mencakup kajian mengenai pembelajaran puisi, pembelajaran prosa fiksi, pembelajaran drama, dan kajian sastra terapan lainnya.

Abstract

Semantics is a branch of linguistics that studies meaning. One of the studies of semantics is the relation of meaning which is interpreted as a link between one form of language and another. In the September 2022 editorial of Media Indonesia, there are words and sentences that are related to meaning. This study aims to describe, analyze, interpret, and conclude the relation of meaning in Media Indonesia editorial. The approach used is a qualitative approach. The type of research used is literature study. The method used in this research is content analysis method. Data collection techniques used are hermeneutic techniques and documentation techniques. The validity technique used is theoretical triangulation. Based on the results of data analysis, 7 forms of meaning relations were obtained in the September 2022 editorial of Media Indonesia, namely: 1) synonyms; 2) antonyms; 3) polysemy; 4) homonymy; 5) hyponymy; 6) ambiguity; and 7) redundancy. Thus, the results of this study indicate that Media Indonesia has words and sentences that are related to meaning which makes these sentences firm and interesting. However, not everyone masters such a broad vocabulary. Therefore, the editor must pay attention to words and sentences before being published to the public.

Abstract

In class VII SMPN 14 Kota Dumai, writing procedure texts is taught in odd semesters. Writing procedure text is very important for the development of students' imagination. Students are expected to develop their unique imagination and passion through written texts. In accordance with KD 4.6, provide procedural text with information about a series of activities (such as how to play musical instruments, regional dances, make souvenirs, etc.) taking into account the contents of the writing, linguistic elements, and structure. This research is included in the category of descriptive-quantitative research. The sample used in this study were 30 class VII students of SMPN 14 Dumai City. The ability to write procedural texts seen from the structure of the text is in the good category, while the ability to write procedural texts in terms of language rules is in the adequate category with an average of 75. This is in accordance with the findings and discussion of research on the ability to write procedural texts for class VII students of SMP Negeri 14 Kota Dumai 2022/2023 Academic Year.

Abstract

EYD V Edition was introduced as an effort to update and improve the Indonesian spelling system. However, students' understanding of the use of EYD V Edition is still lacking, so that the effect on students' writing abilities is not optimal. Therefore, this study aims to provide special training to SMA Negeri 2 Dumai students in writing narrative paragraphs using EYD V Edition. This study uses a descriptive method involving SMA Negeri 2 Dumai students as participants. The training in writing narrative paragraphs was focused on using EYD V Edition. The results of this study showed an increase in students' ability to write narrative paragraphs after attending the training. In addition, the school principal and the monitoring team also gave a positive response to this activity. In conclusion, this study shows that training in writing narrative paragraphs using EYD V Edition can help students improve their writing skills. Mastery of good and correct spelling is an important factor in writing success, and the use of EYD V Edition can be an appropriate guide in writing Indonesian. It is hoped that this research can make a significant contribution in optimizing the literacy movement at SMA Negeri 2 Dumai and also provide input for the development of education in Indonesia broadly.

Abstract

This training aims to overcome the difficulties of Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia FKIP Riau Islamic University (UIR) students in reading poetry with good and correct techniques. Students often experience difficulties in identifying the elements of poetry, using the right intonation, and emphasizing the appropriate tone and rhythm. Poetry reading technique training is expected to increase their understanding of poetry and their ability to convey poetry effectively. In addition, the integration of poetry reading techniques in education has significant benefits in the development of language skills, literary comprehension, public speaking skills, cultural awareness, creativity and imagination of students. The implementation of this training involved participants who were 119 students of Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia (PBSI) UIR. The training includes demonstrations of reading poetry and debriefing poetry reading techniques by experienced practitioners of literature. Understanding the script, breathing exercises, expressions, gestures, intonation, and volume are explained as important aspects in reading poetry effectively. The results and discussion of this training are expected to contribute to the development of literary education in the UIR academic environment.

Abstract

Letters are a means of conveying information or statements in writing to other parties, either on behalf of the person or because of the official or official representative of the sender, to discuss the problem at hand. Knowledge and understanding of letters are certainly very useful for the community. In particular, administrative staff whose job it is to serve students, lecturers, and the academic community related to administration and correspondence Therefore, the Community Service Team, in order to improve the competence of administrative staff, conducted formal letter-writing training activities for administrative staff of FKIP Riau Islamic University. Based on this, the purpose of this service is to provide an understanding regarding the writing of official letters according to the rules that apply to the administrative staff of the Faculty of Teaching and Education, Islamic University of Riau. The method used in this service is a classical and individual approach. Based on the results and discussion, it can be concluded that administrative staff of FKIP Islamic University can write and apply official letters according to the applicable rules, and training in writing official letters for administrative staff of FKIP Islamic University of Riau can be categorized as successful and according to the target.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain information and data about the abilities and learning of students at SMA Negeri 1 Pekanbaru. The population in this study were 71 class XI students at SMA Negeri 1 Pekanbaru. The sample used is a purposive sample. The method used is descriptive method and quantitative approach. The techniques used are test techniques, interviews and observation. The test results from the research with an average score of 91.54 are in the very good category and the learning is in the very good category. After conducting a quantitative analysis of the research data regarding the ability to appreciate the intrinsic elements of the drama text "The Court" which includes themes, plots, characterizations/characters, dialogues and settings (backgrounds) of class XI students at SMA Negeri 1 Pekanbaru in the form of multiple choice of 10 questions and learning to appreciate the intrinsic elements of the drama text "Court" at Pekanbaru 1 Public High School, it can be concluded from the results of the study, namely the ability to appreciate the intrinsic elements of drama texts for class XI students at Pekanbaru 1 Public High School is very good, with an average score of 91.54 out of 71 students . Learning to appreciate the intrinsic elements of the drama text "Mahkamah" conducted by Indonesian language teachers at Pekanbaru 1 Public High School at the planning, implementation, and evaluation stages has been carried out very well.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the use of diction in the form of changes in meaning and the use of onomatopoeias contained in the comic Ugly Duckling Become Swan by Hwang Mi Ree, translated by Dwita Rizki Nientyas. The method used in this study is descriptive analytic method with a research technique, namely the hermeneutic technique. Based on the research conducted, it can be concluded that (1) the changes in meaning found in the comic Ugly Duckling Become Swan by Hwang Mi Ree, translated by Dwita Rizki Nientyas, include: a) changes in the meaning of expanding meaning such as brother, , breaking up, bandar, b) changes in the meaning of narrowing meanings such as cigarettes, c) changes in meaning of amelioration such as man, wife, d) changes in meaning of pejoration such as pigs, women, e) changes in meaning of metaphors such as geese, wolves, f) changes in meaning of metonymy such as Christmas, champagne, (2) the use of onomatope found in the comic Ugly Duckling Become Swan by Hwang Mi Ree translated by Dwita Rizky Nientyas, including a) onomatopoeic animal sounds such as "Meow!", "Grrrrrh!", b) onomatopoeic human voices such as "Hahaha!", "Phew", "Hihihi ”, c) onomatopoeic sounds of other objects such as “Trak set”, “Duakh”.

Abstract

This study aims to test students' abilities in analyzing the structure of drama texts and linguistic conventions in drama texts in class VIII students of SMPN 5 Tambang Kampar in the 2019/2020 academic year. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion conducted, students' ability to analyze the structure of drama texts can be categorized as good with an average score of 87.88. However, students' ability to analyze linguistic rules in drama texts is still quite good with an average score of 75.17. Even though most of the students could find the results of the linguistic rules of the drama text being tested, there were still some students who needed improvement in this regard. In order to improve students' ability to analyze language rules in drama texts, it is recommended that the school pay special attention to learning the language rules of drama texts for class VIII students of SMPN 5 Tambang Kampar. This can be done through more active learning strategies, such as group discussions, simulations, or role playing. In addition, the school can also hold special training for Indonesian language teachers to improve their ability to teach drama texts correctly and effectively. Thus, it is expected that students' ability to analyze linguistic rules in drama texts can be significantly improved.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms and functions of dysphemism used by netizens in comments on the Indonesian Ministry of Health's Facebook account about the corona virus. This study uses a qualitative research approach with descriptive methods obtained through observation of existing data. The results of the study show that many netizen comments use dysphemism with the most frequently used forms of language being word, phrase, and expression dysphemism. There are 35 linguistic forms of dysphemism found in this study. The function of dysphemism consists of five functions, namely as a sign of anger, a means of criticizing, a means of satirizing, a means of insulting, and a means of declaring taboo or obscene things. This research was conducted in May, June, July and August 2021 using the research object of netizen comments. As a qualitative researcher, the researcher becomes a key instrument and must have extensive theoretical knowledge and insight to obtain accurate research results.

Abstract

Literary works describe various phenomena that occur in society. In which there are elements of semiotics namely Icons, Indexes and Symbols. In the Collection of Poetry Gazal Hamzah by Marhalim Zaini contains many semiotic elements such as icons, indexes, and symbols and the works produced have a lot of relationships between signifiers (text) and signifieds (context) related to icons, indexes and symbols. The research approach used is a qualitative approach. The method used is descriptive method. The results of this study are that in the Collection of Poetry of Gazal Hamzah by Marhalim Zaini there are still many icons, indexes and symbols. In the entire collection of Gazal Hamzah's poems by Marhalim Zaini, semiotics is used to convey meaning through the use of icons, indexes, and symbols. This research helps understand how poets use semiotic elements to create effects and explore the themes raised in the literary work. Semiotics opens the door to understanding language and the meaning hidden behind words, thereby enriching the experience of reading and enjoying Gazal Hamzah's poetry.
