Abstract

Stevia (Rebaudiana bertoni) leave, is an ancient perennial shrub mostly found in South America such as Paraguay and Brazil, it contains a low-calorie sweetener, which is about 300 times sweeter than sucrose. Insulin is a polypeptide hormone, which has an anabolic property, insulin has a vital role in regulation of carbohydrate metabolism, it also enhances the metabolism of fat and proteins and regulation of certain gene expression. Design expert software 10.0 was used to design the experimental data for the optimization of insulin yield in stevia (Rebaudiana bertoni) leave. Custom design with 3 factor and one response was applied, the independent variables were amount of stevia powder (g), volume of n-hexane (ml) and volume of ethyl acetate (ml) and the response is percentage of insulin yield (%). In this research work, insulin was successfully extracted from stevia (Rebaudiana bertoni) leave and the optimum yield was determined. The optimum extraction conditions for optimum yield of insulin were found to be: 5.668 g of stevia powder, 49.107 ml of n-hexane and 32.386 ml of ethyl acetate.

Abstract

This research focuses on the cultural practice of conservation known as "Sasi Laut" in the Maluku Islands, Indonesia, and how this practice plays a role in overcoming the "Tragedy of the Commons" in natural resource management. "Tragedy of the Commons" refers to a situation where the shared use of natural resources by a number of parties leads to over-exploitation to the detriment of all. This research is based on a qualitative approach with data collection through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies related to local customs and traditions. The results show that Sasi Laut is a practice that emerged from the local wisdom of the Maluku Islands community to maintain the sustainability and abundance of natural resources. Sasi Laut is implemented by setting restrictions or prohibitions on the use of certain natural resources in certain water areas for a certain period of time. Through this system, local communities collaborate in monitoring and enforcing mutually agreed rules. This practice is not only rooted in local tradition and culture, but also forms strong social ties among community members. This research also analyzes the effectiveness of Sasi Laut in preventing natural resource degradation and promoting conservation. The results show that Sasi Laut has been successful in maintaining the sustainability of the marine ecosystem and preventing overexploitation. In addition, this practice also maintains the cultural heritage and traditions of the Maluku people who are attached to nature and their environment. In conclusion, this research provides a deeper understanding of how cultural practices such as Sasi Laut can be a valuable solution in addressing the "Tragedy of the Commons" and opens up opportunities to apply similar approaches in other regions facing similar problems in natural resource management. Collaborative efforts by communities and government to preserve and promote Sasi Laut practices are essential to achieve long-term conservation and sustainable development goals.

Abstract

The geological location of Indonesia and Japan means that both countries experience frequent disasters. On December 26, 2004, Aceh, located on the northern tip of the island of Sumatra and the westernmost province in Indonesia, was hit by a tsunami that left 166,000 people dead or missing and 500,000 people displaced. While on March 11, 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tōhoku Tsunami with a magnitude of 9.0 occurred and resulted in approximately 15,800 fatalities and 220,000 displaced persons. This study uses a descriptive comparative study method by reviewing policies and regional development in disaster mitigation after the Aceh Tsunami (2004) and the Tōhoku Tsunami (2011) occurred. Policies related to disaster mitigation in Aceh show that tsunamis were never considered in urban planning before the 2004 Aceh Tsunami, while Japan has developed them since 1896 after the Great Meiji Sanriku Tsunami occurred. Existing disaster mitigation policies in Aceh's spatial planning have also not been implemented optimally and consistently. Japan's policies and regional development in disaster mitigation can be a lesson learned as Japan is considered worldwide as a model country in the field of tsunami preparedness and resilience.

Abstract

The important role of the National Land Agency in resolving land boundary disputes in Jayapura City cannot be ignored. Many problems arise from land disputes due to the non-implementation of the Delimitation Contradictory Principle, namely the principle relating to the measurement and determination of land boundaries by the BPN. The aim is to find out the application of the Delimitation Contradictory Principle at the Jayapura City Land Office and also to find out the settlement of land disputes due to the non-applicability of the Delimitation Contradictory Principle at the Jayapura City Land Office. The method used in this research is normative and empirical law seen from the applicable laws and regulations and the reality that occurs in the field. The findings of this study indicate that the application of the Delimitation Contradictory Principle at the Jayapura City Land Office is actually according to procedure. However, there are internal problems with the old maps which have been lost and damaged, so there is often overlapping of plots of land. Apart from that, the absence of bordering parties in the field also often occurs, so that BPN must entrust the measuring drawing filling sheet. This causes the application of the Delimitation Contradictory Principle to not run properly, and land disputes cannot be resolved properly. To overcome this, BPN facilitates mediation for the disputing parties so that they do not proceed to more serious problems and even lawsuits in court. if it has not been resolved, a team is formed to deal with it and find a solution so that the problems experienced by the parties do not need to go to court and all this is carried out according to the procedures in the applicable laws and regulations.
