To validate the statement, 250 students in Semarang participated and are involved in this study. Three hypotheses were formulated and tested. The major hypothesis was that character education and friendship have an effect on self-esteem in adolescents. The first minor hypothesis was that character education has an effect on students’ self esteem and the second minor hypothesis was that friendship has an effect on self-esteem in adolescents. The results of data analysis show that all hypotheses are accepted. Furthermore, based on the results, the researchers suggested that character education and friendship dimensions should be considered in an intervention program intended to promote the potential of education character and friendship as a means of fostering self-esteem in adolescents as a foundation for growth and development in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to determine parents' readiness to use ICT in children's learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study used quantitative research. The population in this study amounted to 571 respondents, while the sample in this study obtained many 230 respondents with research subjects, namely parents who have school-age children (students from PAUD/SD/SMP/SMA levels and currently implementing online learning). The sampling technique used is the purposive sampling technique. The data analysis technique in this study used descriptive statistical techniques. The study's overall results show that the readiness of parents in the use of ICT in children's learning during the Covid-19 pandemic shows good results with a percentage of 76.09%. These results are supported by the suitability of the results for each sub-variable, namely the sub-variables of parental readiness and ICT use in online learning. In this case, it can be interpreted that an educator must have readiness and understanding of the online learning system, but parents must also understand and master the technical implementation of online learning.

Abstract

This study examined the effect of Transactional Analysis on the psychosocial challenges of adolescence. Two research hypotheses were made to guide the study. The sample consisted of seventy (106) senior secondary school students. A-40 item self-developed questionnaire was designed for data collection. The study adopted a quasi-experimental control group design. Analysis of data was achieved using Analysis of Co-variance (ANCOVA) at 0.05 level of significance. The result of the findings showed that there was a significant effect of Transactional Analysis on the psychosocial challenges of adolescents F(1, 104) = 275.882, p 0.05 and that family dispute did not have significant effect on secondary school adolescents’ psychosocial challenges, F ( 2, 104) = 0.414, p 0.05. The treatment, Transactional Analysis applied in this study was effective in the reduction of psychosocial challenges among secondary school adolescents. Counsellors should be proactive in identifying adolescents with psychosocial problems and assist them through the use of Transactional Analysis. It is recommended that counsellors, educational administrators, and policymakers should always make use of this counselling therapy, when handling adolescents’ challenges.

The data collection techniques included in-depth interviews with 2 training program managers, 2 training instructors, 2 trainees, observation, and documentation related to the implementation of blended learning and LMS training. The validity of the data used triangulation of sources. The data analysis techniques consist of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of the study explain that blended learning training was carried out with a portion of 30% online and 70% offline, while LMS was carried out online by combining an e-training platform as a learning support. The obstacle in implementing this training was the internet network connection. The solution provided was the training instructor reviewed the training material during offline training. In conclusion, BBPLK Semarang is one of the institutions that implement blended learning and LMS which has been held since the beginning of the pandemic by combining e-training. Abstract

This paper seeks to explore the economic independence of local community affected by the closure of Dolly prostitution Surabaya. This paper employed qualitative design with case study approach. It took ten people who own and manage Small and Medium Enterprises as the research subject purposively. They were involved since they are the local community around Dolly and affected by the closure of the prostitution. This research was conducted between June and July 2019. The data were obtained through observation, in-depth interview, and documentation. The data were analyzed by employing Miles and Huberman model consisting of three steps: data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusion or verification. The results of the research confirm that most of the local community around Dolly which were affected by the closure of the prostitution indicate an economic independence seen from: (1) the initiative of the local community in developing their business, (2) the satisfaction of the local community from the business they manage after the prostitution closure, (3) the willingness and intention to develop the business, and (4) the beliefs of the local community in developing the business even without the support from the local government. However, this study also confirms that the problem-solving of the local community remains insufficient. Most of them still rely on the government, particularly for the issues of marketing and business place. Thus, as much as 20% of the informants were afraid of the changing of city mayor would impact their business.

Abstract

The PISA ranking places Indonesia in 2019 at 74th, or the 6th bottom of the 79 countries surveyed. From this data alone, we can describe how low the cognitive abilities or intelligence of Indonesian students are. In the education curriculum, the government has designed special standards so that Indonesian students are increasingly trained in their cognitive abilities, and are increasingly able to solve problems well. Freedom to learn is an idea that gives freedom to educators and students in determining the learning system. The purpose of the declaration of independent learning is to create a meaningful education and emphasize aspects of skills and experiences in learning. The spirit brought by the concept of independent learning is the flexibility and freedom in designing and managing learning for educational actors, ranging from educational institutions, educators, to students. The main programs are: the ease of opening new study programs, changes to the accreditation system for higher lecturers, the convenience of state higher education institutions becoming state universities with legal entities, and the right to study for three semesters outside the study program. Students are given the freedom to take credits outside the study program, three semesters which are meant in the form of 1 semester of opportunity to take courses outside the study program and 2 semesters of participating in learning activities outside of higher education. Various forms of learning activities outside of tertiary institutions, including conducting internships/work practices in industry or other workplaces, implementing community service projects in villages, teaching in educational units, participating in student exchanges, conducting research, conducting entrepreneurial activities, conducting studies/ independent projects, and following humanitarian programs. All these activities must be carried out by students with guidance from the lecturer. The learning process at the Merdeka Campus is one of the most essential manifestations of student-centered learning. Learning in the Merdeka Campus provides challenges and opportunities for the development of innovation, creativity, capacity, personality, and student needs, as well as developing independence in seeking and finding knowledge through realities and field dynamics such as ability requirements, real problems, social interaction, collaboration, self-management, performance demands, targets and achievements. Through an independent learning program that is well designed and implemented, students' hard and soft skills will be formed strongly.
