Abstract

Latar belakang: Tanaman Senggani mempunyai banyak potensi sebagai pengobatan seperti antipiretik, analgesik, diuretik, dan antibakteri. Tujuan:untuk menganalisis efek konsentrasi ekstrak etanol daun senggani sebagai antibakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Metode: Daun senggani diekstraksi dengan perendaman dalam etanol 96%. Diameter zona hambat bakteri diukur dengan menggunakan metode difusi agar melalui lima perlakuan yaitu kontrol positif (kloramfenikol), kontrol negatif (NaCMC), dan ekstrak daun senggani konsentrasi 20%, 40%, 60%, dan 80%.Data yang dihasilkan dianalisis dengan metode statistik Kruskal-Wallis dan uji lanjut post hoc Mann Whitney. Abstract

Akar kuning merupakan tanaman yang memiliki banyak khasiat khususnya bagian batang dalam pengobatan seperti antidiabetes, antiinflamasi, antikanker, dan antibiotik. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menentukan aktivitas ekstrak batang akar kuning sebagai antibakteri terhadap Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 dan antijamur terhadap Candida albicans 10231. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode difusi cakram dengan konsentrasi ekstrak yaitu 10%, 15%, dan 20%. Kontrol positif uji antibakteri dan antijamur masing-masing adalah amoksisilin dan ketokonazol dengan CMC sebagai kontrol negatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata diameter hambat tertinggi terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia coli dan Staphylococcus aureus terdapat pada ekstrak 20% masing-masing sebesar 26,5 mm dan 21,5 mm. Untuk rata-rata diameter hambat tertinggi terhadap pertumbuhan jamur Candida albicans terdapat pada ekstrak akar kuning 15% sebesar 23,2 mm. Kesimpulan dari penelitian adalah ekstrak batang akar kuning mempunyai aktivitas sebagai antibakteri terhadap Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus dan antijamur terhadap Candida albicans.

Abstract

The skin of the thorny palm has been empirically recognized by some people as a traditional medicine for beauty, antimicrobial, and antidiabetic. Compounds that act as treatment in the skin of the thorny palm is flavonoids. The study aims to determine the total flavonoid of the thorny palm rind extract based on differences in the drying of simplicia. The simplicia drying method used was oven-dry, direct sunlight, indirect sunlight, and air dry and fresh samples as control. Extraction using the maceration method with ethanol p.a. solvent. Determination of total flavonoid levels from the extract of thorny palm rind using the UV-Vis spectrophotometric method with quercetin standard solution. The qualitative test results showed that the skin of the thorny palm contains flavonoids after the addition of 1% AlCl3. The total flavonoid content in the fresh sample was 0.00342%, direct sunlight was 0.00350%, oven-dry was 0.00340%, dry air was 0.00357%, and indirect sunlight was 0.00361%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the highest flavonoid content in the extract of thorny palm rind is found in the indirect sun drying method.

Abstract

VCO (virgin coconut oil) has benefits for skin health such as softening the skin, maintaining skin health, and protecting the skin from radiation and free radicals. VCO as one of the raw materials for making cream preparations can affect its physical stability. This study aimed to analyze the effect of VCO on the physical stability of sweet potato leaf extract creams and antibacterial activity test against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. The creams were made with five formulas namely base, extract cream 2%, and VCO 1%, 3%, 5% added to the extract cream 2% respectively. Physical stability test included storage for six weeks at room temperature. Stability parameters were organoleptic observation, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, adhesivity, and cream type. Statistical analysis was carried out with the Anova and Kruskal Wallis tests. The organoleptic test results of the cream extract showed a distinctive odor, green color, with semisolid and homogeneous texture. Increasing the concentration of VCO will increase the spreadability of extract cream but did not affect pH and adhesion. The conclusion of this study was that extract cream 2% without the addition of VCO was the most stable cream formulation. Besides that, all the cream formulas did not show antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923.

Abstract

Papasan leaves have several properties, including antihyperglycemic, diabetes, antipyretic and antioxidant. Minor metabolite compounds that have the potential as antioxidants from this plant are flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, and tannins. This study's purpose to determine the antioxidant activity and the flavonoid total contents of Papasan (Coccinia grandis L.) leaf extract based on the differences in polar solvents. The polar solvents used were ethanol, methanol, and water. Extraction used by maceration and dekokta. The antioxidant activity and the flavonoid total contents were established by UV-Vis spectrophotometry according to the decrease in absorbance at a maximum wavelength of 515 nm by the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method. Determination of antioxidant activity and the flavonoid total contents were excluded on quercetin comparisons. The values of IC50 and the flavonoid total contents in the ethanol extract respectively were 287.92 ppm and 49.825 mg QE/g while the IC50 values and total flavonoid levels in the extract of methanol were 73.29 ppm and 50.415 mg QE/g. In the extract of the water, the value of IC50 was 39.80 ppm and the total flavonoid contents were 50.415 mg QE/g. The conclusions of these studies were that the most antioxidant activity was found in water extract, while water and methanol extract had the same and highest levels of total flavonoids.

Abstract

Shallots are natural ingredients that are used as food enhancers for food and traditional medicines. This study aimed to analyze the specific and non-specific parameters of shallot (Allium cepa L.) Simplicia. Analysis of simplicia specific parameters in the form of material identity, organoleptic, macroscopic, and microscopic examination, levels of water-soluble extracts and ethanol soluble extracts while non-specifically in the form of a percentage of drying loss, water content, total ash, acid insoluble ash, and water-insoluble ash. The results of the research on specific parameters gave a yellowish-green simplicia color, a distinctive odor, in the form of powder, macroscopic examination of leeks elongated cylindrical, small round and hollow like a pipe, blunt leaf base, pointed leaf tip, green color, microscopic examination contained cover cells, gaps and epidermal cells, the levels for water-soluble extracts were 8.81±2.12%, the levels of ethanol-soluble compounds were 5.64±2.91%. The results of the study of non-specific parameters, the percentage of drying shrinkage was 0.89±0.57%, water content was 0.89±0.34%, total ash was 12.97±0.34%, acid-insoluble ash was 6.44±2.12%, and the water-insoluble ash content was 8.03±0.84%.

Abstract

Tanaman obat tradisional adalah tanaman yang yang diyakini secara turun-temurun untuk dimanfaatkan dan diolah secara tradisional sebagai pencegahan maupun pengobatan suatu penyakit.Oleh sebab itu perlu dilakukan sosialisasi melalui penyuluhan mengenai tujuan dan manfaat dari tanaman obat tradisional pada masyarakat khususnya di pedesaan. Pada kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini dilakukan penyuluhan di Desa Telang Sari, Kecamatan Tanjung Lago, Kabupaten Banyuasin, Provinsi Sumatera Selatan.Tujuan penyuluhan ini adalah memberikan pengetahuan dan pengalaman mengenai pemanfaatan tanaman tradisional. Penyuluhan ini dimulai dengan pemberian kuesioner, penyampaian materi, workshop, dan tanya jawab antara masyarakat dengan pemateri. Pada penyampaian materi menggunakan metode ceramah dengan bantuan slide powerpoint. Selain itu, pada workshop diperlihatkan cara membuat ramuan dari beberapa tanaman obat tradisional. Berdasarkan hasil penyuluhan ini menunjukkan masyarakat Desa Telang Sari mengetahui manfaat dari tanaman obat tradisional. Selain itu, masyarakat juga mengetahui cara membuat ramuan dari beberapa tanaman obat tradisional.

Abstract

Akar kuning (Fibraurea chloroleuca Miers) dengan senyawa metabolit sekunder yang terkandung di dalamnya merupakan salah satu tanaman yang berpotensi sebagai tanaman obat tradisional untuk mengobati berbagai penyakit. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menentukan kadar alkaloid total ekstrak akar kuning dengan perbedaan konsentrasi pelarut etanol yaitu 50%, 70%, dan 96%. Proses ekstraksi menggunakan metode maserasi dan ekstrak diuapkan dengan rotary evaporator pada suhu 40oC. Identifikasi alkaloid pada ekstrak menggunakan pereaksi Wagner, Mayer dan Dragendorff dan kadar alkaloid total dilakukan dengan metode spektrofotometri UV-Vis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan identifikasi alkaloid dengan semua pereaksi dinyatakan positif mengandung alkaloid pada ekstrak. Hasil kadar alkaloid total ekstrak akar kuning dengan pelarut etanol 50% sebesar 0,6939 ± 0,2439%, dengan pelarut etanol 70% sebesar 0,6607 ± 0,2117% dan pelarut etanol 96% sebesar 0,7826 ± 0,3004%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, ekstrak akar kuning dengan konsentrasi pelarut etanol 96% menunjukkan kadar alkaloid yang tertinggi.
