Abstract

This article aims to describe developing professionalism of teachers through educational supervision. As related to the discussion isteacher professionalism includes understanding of the profession, understanding of professionalism, measurement of teacher professionalism, and the influence of teacher professionalism on learning outcomes. Andeducational supervision includes understanding of educational supervision, the objectives and functions of educational supervision, types of educational supervision, as well as the principles and approaches in educational supervision. The results of the discussion can show (a) develop teacher professionalism possessed ability which is the result of cognitive work to carry out tasks so that students obtain optimal learning outcomes, so that the creation of quality or quality education, and (b) through the supervision of education  coaching activities or activities carried out by a professional to assist teachers and other education personnel in improving teaching materials, methods and evaluations by continuously stimulating, coordinating and mentoring so that teachers become more professional in increasing the achievement of school goals

Abstract

Current education programs are directed at the implementation and strengthening of character education in schools. Character education is considered the right solution to solve the problems of the Indonesian nation. The purpose of this study was to determine the planning process for strengthening character education based on integrity values in schools, the implementation of the lost and found box program in schools, and the impact of implementing the lost and found box program in schools. This study used a qualitative descriptive research design with a case study approach. The data collection techniques used in this study were interviews and documentation studies. This research was conducted at Elementary School Laboratory Universitas Negeri Malang, Blitar City, with the principal as the key informant and teacher, education staff and school committee as additional informants. The results of this study shows that planning activities in the integrity value-based character education strengthening program have been divided into learning and non-learning aspects. Program planning is carried out through work meetings involving school principals, teachers, education personnel, parents, school committees, stakeholders, education experts, with the principal as the highest decision maker. The impact of implementing the "Lost and Found Box" program in schools is (1) increased honesty behavior of students, (2) students understand the concept of ownership, (3) students feel responsible for personal property and other people, and (4) school students are felt to be safer.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims: (1) to describe the level of service quality, the level of student satisfaction, learning motivation, and the level of academic and non-academic achievement of students, and (2) to determine the model of the structural relationship between variables. This research design uses quantitative research. The research population consisted of all students, which was 3,702. Sampling using a simple proportional random technique, through this technique obtained a research sample of 361. Meanwhile, for data collection using a questionnaire technique. As for data analysis using descriptive and correlational analysis techniques with Structural Equation Model (SEM). The results of the analysis show that: 1) the level of service quality is in the sufficient category; 2) student satisfaction with services in the sufficient category; 3) students’ learning motivation is in the low category; 4) the level of student achievement in the low category; 5) there is an effect of service quality on student satisfaction; 6) there is an effect of service quality on student learning motivation; 7) there is an effect of the level of satisfaction on student learning motivation; 8) learning motivation has no effect on student achievement; 9) there is a direct or indirect influence between the level of service quality on achievement through student learning motivation; and 9) there is a direct or indirect influence between satisfaction and achievement through student learning motivation. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan: (1) mendeskripsikan tentang tingkat kualitas layanan, tingkat kepuasan mahasiswa, motivasi belajar, dan tingkat prestasi akademik dan non-akademik mahasiswa, dan (2) mengetahui model hubungan struktural antar variabel. Rancangan penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif. Populasi penelitian terdiri atas seluruh mahasiswa yaitu sebesar 3.702. Pengambilan sampel dengan menggunakan teknik proposional acak sederhana, melalui teknik tersebut diperoleh sampel penelitian sebesar 361. Sementara itu, untuk pengambilan data dengan menggunakan teknik angket. Adapun untuk analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif dan korelasional dengan Structural Equation Model (SEM). Hasil analisis menunjukan, bahwa: 1) tingkat kualitas layanan dalam kategori cukup; 2) kepuasan mahasiswa terhadap layanan dalam kategori cukup; 3) motivasi belajar mahasiswa dalam kategori rendah; 4) tingkat prestasi mahasiswa dalam kategori rendah; 5) ada pengaruh kualitas layanan terhadap kepuasan mahasiswa; 6) ada pengaruh kualitas layanan terhadap motivasi belajar mahasiswa; 7) ada pengaruh tingkat kepuasan terhadap motivasi belajar mahasiswa; 8) motivasi belajar tidak memiliki pengaruh terhadap prestasi mahasiswa; 9) terdapat pengaruh baik langsung maupun tidak langsung antara tingkat kualitas layanan terhadap prestasi melalui motivasi belajar mahasiswa; dan 9) terdapat pengaruh baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung antara kepuasan terhadap prestasi melalui motivasi belajar mahasiswa.

Abstract

The Internship Program of Educational Management Attended by Students of Educational Administration Department: Study of the Process and the Product. The purpose of the study was to investigate the effectiveness of the internship program attended by the students of Educational Administration Department. The data were collected through observation and documentation and were then analyzed in order to get the mean value and the standard deviation. The findings, which concerned the internship process and its products, indicated that the quality of this internship program was categorized good with a relatively homogeneous variation.

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate teachers’ teaching competence, supervision carried out by principals, and the effect of the supervision on teachers’ competence. This descriptive-correlational study involved a population of 989 teachers of all public junior high schools in Malang. Ten schools were randomly selected; then, proportional random sampling was employed to select the teachers from each school. A questionnaire and observation were used to collect the data, which were analyzed using mean statistics and linear regression. The findings show that teachers’ competence was of good category, that supervision by principals was of fair category, and that the supervision had a predicting power of 43.5% to improve teachers’ competence.

Abstract

The latest ‘freedom to learn’ policy, issued by the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, must be implemented by educational institutions at various levels. The principals played significant roles such as community empowerment to utilize all resources in the schools to support the policy. The research aimed to describe the principals’ efforts in improving community participation in the school and to describe the social involvement in facilitating the freedom to learn at schools. This study employed a qualitative approach with a multi-case research design, and it was conducted in Indonesia, particularly in Tana Tidung Regency in North Kalimantan, Bondowoso Regency in East Java, and Malang City in East Java. The data collection techniques included in-depth interviews and document studies, and to validate the data used a credibility technique. The data validation through the credibility technique was carried out by conducting triangulation, checking members, and improving the persistence and adequacy of reference materials. The cross-case data analysis in this study applied a constant comparative method. The analysis was conducted in all three cases resulted in the provisional findings, continued by data comparison that would later be found by the three cases. The results of this research were the principals’ efforts in enhancing community participation through cooperation with several related parties. The principals were regarded as role models in supporting the ‘freedom to learn’ policy and building cooperation with related partners. The kind of community participation varied based on the uniqueness of each region.

Abstract

The existing knowledge in society has not been spread explicitly. Thus local knowledge is still unknown to the people in the region itself. This study aimed to provide information related to the dissemination of local knowledge applied to cultural literacy programs form: ideas, behavior, and artifacts or works. The kind of the idea is stated in a paper, the behavior is shown in community activities, and artifacts are contained in works in the form of objects as results of activities and actions. The main focus is on basic human needs: clothing and food applied through Griya Boedaya tour. Clothing consists of typical East Javanese fabrics, while food consists of East Javanese specialties. The culture produced reflects the characteristics of the environment. Thus it has features standing out that becomes the identity of the local community’s culture. In the East Java region, knowledge is an invisible or intangible local asset owned by people in the area. This study used the literature method with qualitative approach by searching for books, e-journals, proceedings, thesis and articles. Results of the people’s knowledge in the form of typical food and unique clothing were a manifestation of people's expression of their environment. Griya Boedaya introduces local cultures such as regional cloth and cuisine and is a tourist means which introduces history, creation process, work systems, tools used, and the use and philosophy of local cultural products. Hopefully, the cultural literacy tour will enable people to recognize, know, and understand their culture with easy-to-understand and fun methods.

Abstract

Abstract: The research was conducted (1) to describe transformational leadership, organizational communication, organizational commitment, and teacher performance; (2) to determine the direct and indirect relationship between principal transformational leadership, organizational communication, organizational commitment, teacher performance. This subject in this research was 207 PNS teachers in SMKN Kota Malang. Researcher used quantitative methods which was descriptive and correlational. Researcher distributed 107 questions of questionnaires. The results showed that (1) transformational leadership, organizational communication, organizational commitment was high, meanwhile teacher performance was higher, (2) there was a positive and significant direct and indirect relationship in the variables studied, except the transformational leadership of principals wirh teacher performance.Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilakukan (1) untuk mendeskripsikan kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah, komunikasi organisasi, komitmen organisasi, dan kinerja guru; (2) untuk mengetahui hubungan langsung dan tidak langsung antara kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah, komunikasi organisasi, komitmen organisasi, dan kinerja guru. Subyek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 207 guru PNS di Kota Malang. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuantitatif bersifat deskriptif dan korelasional. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini yakni (1) kepemimpinan transformasional, komunikasi organisasi, komitmen organisasi termasuk dalam kategori tinggi, sedangkan kinerja guru sangat tinggi, (2) adanya hubungan langsung dan tidak langsung positif dan signifikan pada variabel yang diteliti, kecuali pada variabel kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah dengan kinerja guru.

Abstract

Quality management is the need to be prepared to increase human resources in the face of the coming era. Packet education is one solution in addressing the equity of education in order to improve the quality of Indonesian human resources. Packet quality of education must also be prepared to organize a quality education. The quality of education is able to be implemented with the Packet meets the four aspects, namely leadership, quality aspects educator, aspects of service quality and customer satisfaction aspects. The synergy of these four aspects are key to the success of a quality education that is realized well.Manajemen mutu merupakan hal yang perlu disiapkan dalam meningkatkan SDM dalam menghadapi era yang akan datang. Pendidikan kejar paket merupakan salah satu solusi dalam mengatasi pemerataan pendidikan dalam upaya meningkatkan kualitas SDM Indonesia. Kualitas pendidikan kejar paket tentunya juga harus disiapkan untuk menyelenggarakan pendidikan yang bermutu. Mutu pendidikan kejar paket mampu dilaksanakan dengan memenuhi empat aspek, yaitu aspek kepemimpinan, aspek mutu pendidik, aspek mutu layanan dan aspek kepuasan pelanggan. Sinergi dari keempat aspek merupakan kunci keberhasilan dari suatu mutu pendidikan yang terwujud dengan baik.

Abstract

Curriculum Development Planning Kulliyatul Mu'allimien Al-Islamiyah. The purpose of this study are: (1) identify curriculum development planning; (2) identify curriculum development process; (3) determine the factors supporting and curriculum development planning; and (4) determine the strategy to overcome the inhibiting factors  curriculum development planning. This study used a qualitative approach to describe the planning of curriculum development at Kulliyatul Mu'allimien Al-Islamiyah. The design of the study is a multi-site study means combining multiple sites, subject, background, and the scene is different. The key instrument is the researchers themselves, with the source of the research that led cottage, a team of curriculum developers, teachers, and students. Data obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The validity of the data that has been analyzed using the criteria of the credibility of the data with the triangulation of data sources. The results of the research, that the planning of curriculum development at KMI is aimed at character building through micro teaching, improvement of skills of students and teacher competence that leads to the career development of teachers.Perencanaan Pengembangan Kurikulum Kulliyatul Mu’allimien Al-Islamiyah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) mengidentifikasi perencanaan pengembangan kurikulum;(2) mengidentifikasi proses pengembangan kurikulum ; (3) mengetahui faktor pendukung dan penghambat perencanaan pengembangan kurikulum; dan (4) mengetahui strategi mengatasi faktor penghambat perencanaan pengembangan kurikulum. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif untuk mendeskripsikan tentang perencanaan pengembangan kurikulum pada Kulliyatul Mu’allimien Al-Islamiyah. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi multi situs yang berarti menggabungkan beberapa situs, subyek, latar, dan tempat kejadian yang berlainan. Instrumen kunci adalah adalah peneliti sendiri, dengan sumber penelitian yaitu pimpinan pondok pesantren, tim pengembang kurikulum, guru, dan santri. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Keabsahan data yang telah dianalisis menggunakan kriteria kredibilitas data dengan triangulasi sumber data. Hasil penelitian, bahwa perencanaan pengembangan kurikulum pada KMI ditujukan pada character building melalui micro teaching, peningkatan skill santri, dan kompetensi guru yang mengarah pada pengembangan karir guru.
