Abstract

The successful development of wheat in several tropical highlands in Indonesia has prompted researchers to developing the wheat in the lowlands area. One of the ways is through the process of adaptation and selection of wheat genotypes which planted in lowlands. This research was conducted in the district of Semarang and Demak in the period of 2011 until 2014. The purpose of this research was to investigate the performance of wheat genotypes grown in the tropical lowlands in searching the candidates for adaptive varieties of tropical lowland. Thirteen wheat genotypes that tested in the lowlands were ‘LAJ3302/2*M088’, ‘Altar’, ‘Selayar’, ‘Oasis’, ’HP1744’, ‘RABE’, ’H-21’, ‘G-21’, ‘G-18’, ‘Menemen’, ‘Barisbey’, ‘Alibey’, ‘Dewata’. The experimental design used was Randomised Block Design, treated separately with 13 genotypes, each genotype repeated 3 times. The data were analyzed using Analysis of variance, Correlation, HSD 5% level and Stress Susceptibility Index. The results of this research were the genotypes LAJ3302/2*M088, Oasis and Selayar has been considered as candidate of wheat varieties which adaptive in tropical lowland because this genotypes are more tolerant than the other genotypes in lowland environment.Keywords: adaptation, genotype, lowland, tropical, wheat

Abstract

Kebutuhan gandum yang terus meningkat setiap tahun memaksa usaha penanaman gandum di Indonesia. Dengan mengembangkan gandum yang mampu beradaptasi di lahan cekaman abiotik, berupa suhu tinggi dan lahan kering, dapat menjadi jalan keluar dari keterbatasan lahan. Tujuan: mengetahui dinamika pertumbuhan dan hasil panen beberapa genotipe gandum yang diadaptasikan di dataran rendah tropis dan melakukan seleksi genotipe hasil adaptasi calon varietas berdasar penampilan fenotipe. Penelitian dengan penanaman 10 genotipe gandum F2 hasil adaptasi tahun sebelumnya, di Desa Telogoweru, Guntur, Demak  pada bulan Juli hingga Oktober 2013. Penelitian selanjutnya adalah melakukan seleksi berdasarkan penampilan terbaik dengan penanaman kembali hasil panen F2. Kesimpulan: terjadi penurunan nilai tinggi tanaman dalam proses adaptasi tetua, F1 maupun F2, dan pada karakter jumlah anakan terlihat adanya peningkatan dari proses adaptasi F2. Potensi hasil menunjukkan penurunan berat 1000 butir dan jumlah biji per malai dalam proses adaptasi tetua, F1 dan F2, tetapi untuk hasil biji per hektar, genotipe LAJ3302, ALTAR, SELAYAR, dan OASIS mampu menunjukkan peningkatan hasil. Proses seleksi menunjukkan bahwa genotipe LAJ3302, ALTAR, SELAYAR, OASIS, BASRIBEY, dan HP1744 merupakan genotipe yang dapat dijadikan calon varietas tahan cekaman suhu tinggi dan kekeringan

Abstract

The aims of this study are to know the potential of wheat farming in Getasan district as an object of agroedutourism and analyzed a wheat agroedutourism development strategy to support tropical wheat production. The collected data were analyzed using SWOT method. The results showed that wheat farmings in Getasan district was potentially become the object of agroedutourism. Strategies: Cooperation with governments, local farmers, investors, food companies to create an integrated agritourism involves the potential of cultural  tourism in the region; Create zoning for the various site locations required in agroedutourism; Plan an exciting and dynamic training program, special event, landscape arrangement, then promote it through various communication media; Improve managerial resources by establishing efficient structures, engaging in management training agritourism.

Abstract

The demand for palm sugar is increasing since people prefer natural ingredients. Natural and organic food ingredients have the reputation of being healthier and safer than synthetic ingredients. This study will discuss one particular ingredient namely palm sugar which is known as a natural sweetener. Developed countries have started to import palm sugar as a natural sweetener from developing countries. The production of palm sugar in developing countries has an important benefit in the craftsman household economy. However, current production of palm sugar does not meet the increasing demand, which is caused mainly by the lack of farmers, palm sugar craftsmen’s inadequate knowledge of palm sugar production, and poor incorporation of technology both in the cultivation of palm tree and the production process of palm sugar. This literature review study aims to understand the continuity of palm sugar production within the following framework which consists of four steps: (1) identifying current situation, (2) identifying the problems, (3) presenting the resolution, (4) proposing programs and strategies. Based on this framework a few programs and strategies are generated to maintain the continuity of palm sugar production, they are: (1) Palm trees domestication, (2) research and development center for Indonesian palm sugar, and (3) ensuring a good collaboration among the stake holders involved.

Abstract

The characteristics of seed coat delay the germination of sugar palm seeds. A research was carried out to investigate the permeability of sugar palm seeds and accelerate the germination. The research consists of four experiments with purposes: 1. to investigate the distribution of water content of sugar palm seed (RCBD Factorial between part of seed : whole seed, seed coat, endosperm and embryo under three conditions: control; soaking in water and germinate, 5 replications); 2. to investigate seed permeability (RCD, 6 soaking periods, 4 replications); 3. to investigate the content of lignin and tannin in seed (RCD, 8 seed ages, 4 replications); 4. to accelerate seed germination (RCBD, 6 treatments of scarification, 4 replication).  The results showed that the permeability of sugar palm seeds to water absorption declined with seed maturity because of the increasing in lignin and tannin content. Seed germination can be accelerated with scalding on the operculum site to increase water absorption.   Key words: Sugar palm, seeds, permeability, germination

Abstract

The research of the effects of retardant and terminal bud pinching on the performance of potted chrysanthemum was conducted using the Randomized Block Design, consist of seven treatments and four replications. The treatments were P1) control without retardant and bud pinching; P2) Retardant at transplanting into pots; P3) Retardant at one week after transplanting; P4) Retardant at two weeks after transplanting; P5) Pinching at the time of transplanting; P6) Pinching at one week after transplanting; P7) Pinching at two weeks after transplanting. Experimental data were analyzed using ANOVA and the analysis of the differences among treatments used Honest Significant Different (HSD) with α=5%. The results showed that retardant increased the chlorophyl of leaf, reduced the height of plant and diameter of shoot, reduced the number and diameter of flowers. Pinching decreased the height of shoot, increase the number of flowers. Retardant and pinching treatment did not cause the anthesis simultaneously. The performance of chrysanthemum pots on retardant treatment is more ideal than control and terminal bud pinching treatment. Keywords: chrysanthemum, flowering, growth, paclobutrazol, pinching

Abstract

Pedestrian track on Jalan Diponegoro Salatiga when 2017th has suffered by some damage and has not been functioned properly. Pedestrian track is used for trading activities and for parking area. Therefore is needed to inspect with research analysis. The research was carried on February till March 2017 on Jalan Diponegoro Salatiga. The research is evaluation of physical and comfort aspect of pedestrian of Jalan Diponegoro Salatiga based on the public perception. The purpose are knowing public perception about the physical and amenitu aspect, knowing maintener priority and knowing the appropriate pedestrian track based on the result of perception and priority handling with redesain. The type of research is descriptive qualitative. Stages from research are observation, questionnaires with 100 respondents, analysis and redesign. Analysis of questionnaire using performance and importance analysis. Making redesign using sketchup software based on the results of perception and the regulations. The results of the public perception is physical of pedestrian track on Jalan Diponegoro Salatiga was low and amenity the pedestrian was good enough. The results performance and importance analysis is vegetation nursing, lamp function of pedestrian track, condition of paving, and cleaness of pedestrian track are being main priority for repair and the maintainer give more attention. Abstract

Pakcoy (Brassica rapa ssp. chinensis) merupakan jenis sayuran yang memiliki banyak manfaat bagi tubuh manusia. Dalam budidaya pakcoy secara hidroponik NFT umur bibit adalah salah satu aspek penentu dalam peningkatan produktivitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh umur bibit terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil sawi pakcoy dan menentukan umur bibit yang memberikan hasil tertinggi sawi pakcoy dengan budidaya hidroponik NFT. Percobaan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) faktor tunggal terdiri atas lima variasi umur bibit dengan ulangan sebanyak lima kali. Umur bibit yang diuji adalah 0 HSS, 5 HSS, 10 HSS, 15 HSS dan 20 HSS. Pengamatan pertumbuhan tanaman sawi meliputi tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, luas daun, bobot segar tanaman, bobot kering tanaman dan klorofil. Komponen hasil yang diamati yaitu bobot segar tajuk. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan Sidik Ragam (ANOVA) taraf 5%, dilanjutkan dengan uji Beda Nyata Jujur taraf 5% dan analisis korelasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa umur bibit berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil sawi pakcoy. Pada budidaya sawi pakcoy secara hidroponik sistem NFT hasil tertinggi diperoleh jika ditanam langsung dari bibit 0 HSS atau menggunakan bibit berumur 5 HSS. Penggunaan umur bibit yang tepat dalam budidaya pakcoy secara hidroponik NFT dapat mendukung pertumbuhan dan hasil yang optimal pada akhir masa panennya.

Abstract

Kajian fase reproduktif tanaman gandum (Triticum aestivum L) varietas Dewata dari aspek fisiologis dan morfologis.  Penelitian dilaksanakan di kebun percobaan Fakultas Pertanian dan Bisnis, Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana yang berlokasi di Kecamatan Getasan, Kabupaten Semarang, pada elevasi 900 m dpl. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui proses pembentukan biji dan proses kemasakan biji dari aspek morphologis dan fisiologis dalam rangka penentuan saat panen untuk produksi benih gandum. Penelitian dilakukan melalui pengambilan sampel sebanyak 10 kali, masing-masing 10 rumpun dari populasi tanaman gandum. Pengamatan morfologis meliputi struktur bunga, fase perkembangan bunga, fase perkembangan biji dan daya berkecambah biji pada berbagai umur tanaman untuk menentukan saat panen. Data diperoleh melalui pengamatan morphologis, anatomi dan uji laboratoris. Dari hasil penelitian, disimpulkan: 1. Bunga tersusun dalam sebuah spike (malai), rerata panjang spike adalah 12.9 cm ± 0.8, tersusun atas 9 ± 2.2 spikelet. Setiap spikelet terdiri atas 2-3 floret dan sepasang glume. Setiap floret terdiri atas lemma, palea, stamen (jantan) dan pistil (betina). 2. Fase pembungaan adalah fase yang mengakhiri pembentukan daun (vegetatif). Fase pembungaan tanaman gandum yang terlihat secara fisik terdiri atas fase bunting, fase mrocot dan fase antesis. 3. Daya berkecambah biji gandum semakin meningkat hingga tercapai 88% (maksimum) pada umur 120 hst dengan kadar air 10.3%. 4. Umur panen yang dianjurkan adalah 120 hst.

Abstract

The use of mulch aims, among others, to provide a more ideal microclimate to support the growth of spring onion. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of mulch on the growth performance of the spring onion Freda Variety. The research location was conducted at the Salaran Experimental Garden belonging to the SWCU Agriculture and Business Faculty from May 2021 to August 2021. This experiment used RAK which consisted of five treatments, namely M0 (without mulch), M1 (black-silver plastic mulch), M2 (transparent plastic mulch), M3 (corn stem mulch), M4 (reed mulch). Each treatment was repeated five times and the data were analyzed using variance and DMRT 5%. The result showed that the best treatment to support spring onion performance was reed mulch because it had the highest average of all growth components and plant fresh weight of 53,17 cm, stem diameter 14,92 mm, number of leaves 6,50 leaves, number of tillers 1,90 and fresh weight 441 grams and has the highest soil organic matter content, lower temperature soil and increase soil moisture. Keyword: Reed, Corn stem, Spring onion, Plastic mulch, Mulching
