Abstract

The Effectiveness Test of Fungus Beauveria bassiana Bals. against Armyworm (Spodoptera litura F.) on Tobacco Crops Tobacco crops is one of the national commodity and plays an important role for Indonesian economy. Various attempts of cultivation technique have been implemented. However, obstruction are found on tobacco cultivation, one of them is armyworm (Spodoptera litura F.) pest. The effort of controlling the pests is still using chemical technique while in fact it leds to negative impact to living beings and environment. Therefore, eco-friendly control using fungus Beauveria bassiana Bals. in the form of formulation are necessary. This study was conducted to determine the quality and effectiveness of B. bassiana formulation obtained from Estate Crops Service of Bali Province against armyworm (S litura). Research method of this study was using a randomized block design with 5 treatments and 5 replicates. This treatment was using concentration of 60 grams, 45 grams, 30 grams, 15 grams formulation dissolved in one liter of water and the control of using water only. The observed variable was the mortality and intensity of armyworm attacks (S. litura). The result of this study showed that the formulation of fungus B. bassiana has characteristics in which the colonies are white, round-shapes spores, grape-shaped structure and the density of a spore is 1 x 107 spores/ml, therefore it considered it has a good quality. B bassiana formulation is able to infect armyworm (S. litura) on the fourth day. Efficacy test in the green house of 60 grams concentration dissolved in one liter of water showed a good result, with the highest mortality and the lowest damage intensity of tobacco crops.

Abstract

The difficulty in obtaining seeds and the high price of seedlings prompted the implementation of the Campus Intellectual Product Business Development Program (PPUPIK) for superior local fruit seedlings of seedless BalineseWani at the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University. In order to support the successful development of the Seedless Wani Seed Business Unit, it is necessary to have a more in-depth study using a SWOT analysis. The research was conducted in Banjar Duren Taluh, Belimbing Village, Pupuan District, Tabanan Regency in April - August 2020. The study was conducted with a SWOT analysis to see the performance of business units by determining a combination of internal factors (strength and weakness) with external factors (opportunity and threats). Furthermore, the EFI and EFE matrices are made. The results of the two matrices are then entered into a qualitative model, namely the SWOT matrix to formulate the company's competitive strategy. Based on the results of the EFE and EFE value analysis, the Seedless Wani Seed Business Unit is in cell one where in this position the business unit can implement a growth strategy with vertical integration by taking over the supplier function or by taking over the function of the distributor. This is the main strategy for companies that have a strong and highly competitive market position. Keywords: Bali local fruit, Seedless wani seedling, SWOT analysis

Abstract

Adaptability of Fruit Flies (Bactrocera calumniata H.) to Cucurbitaceae Host Plants in the Highlands of Bali. Plants from the Cucurbitaceae family are one of the host plants for fruit flies. Plants grow in the highlands and lowlands. One of the pests of the Cucurbitaceae family is Bactrocera calumniata. Symptoms of fruit attacked by B. calumniata are having small holes that ooze fluid caused by the puncture of the ovipositor of female fruit flies and fruit that is attacked after a long time becomes soft in texture and smells rotten. The research was conducted in Candikuning Village, Tabanan Regency and Pancasari Village, Buleleng Regency, Bali Province. Based on research showed that zucchini and cucumber were attacked by fruit flies of the type B. calumniata. Abundance of population, percentage of females, and percentage of damage were more on zucchini plants than cucumber plants. So the adaptability of the fruit fly B. calumniata is better in the zucchini plant compared to the cucumber plant.
