<![CDATA[Implementation of Islamic Sharia in Aceh not only involve to the Muslim society as the majority,but also non-Muslim minority society. One of the laws that applied in Aceh is Qanun Jinayat.Implementation of Qanun Jinayat as part of the Islamic law involving multiple parties in arelationship of power. In this case, the Aceh government and the mass media are the 'power'which determines the dominant discourse in the society. This qualitative study will describe howthus power manifested in such discourse of the media. <![CDATA[The disqualification of the blind female athlete of Miftahul Jannah from the Asian Para Games judo in October 2018 was the first time that happened in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in news frames between AceTrend and Suara.com related to the Miftahul Jannah case by using several concepts of framing elements from Zhongdan Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki in the form of syntax, script, thematic and rhetorical. The concept is based on the theory of Peter L. Berger to dissect a reality of news, namely the Social Construction Theory of Reality. The results show that the AceHTrend frame through its reporting is more prominent on the justifications of attitudes taken by Miftahul Jannah related to its disqualification from the 2018 Asian Para Games judo sports. Meanwhile the news frame of Suara.com in its coverage highlights attitudes that are more inclined to justification regarding rules Refereeing Rules IJF in judo. Suara.com also said in its report that it did not blame the attitude taken by Miftahul Jannah in defending his belief. This shows that Suara.com wants to be neutral while remaining in favor of the rules of Refereeing Rules IJF in judo. ]]>

<![CDATA[Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno are one of the candidate pairs as Presidential and Vice President Election candidates in the 2019 Presidential Election. In this event, there was many strategies used by the candidates to attracting public electability. The aims of this study is to determine the image of Prabowo-Sandi's in the political branding process that showed in instagram @indonesiaadilmakmur. This study used the Semiotic Analysis approach to look the meaning of political image which represented in instagram @indonesiaadilmakmur and the Political Branding concept that focused in three indicators: Appearance, Personality and Political Key Message. The method used in this study is semiotic analysis by Charles Peirce with a qualitative approach in interpretive paradigm. Finally, th results of this study found that the process of Prabowo-Sandi’s branding formed through three indicators political branding such Appearance, Personality, and Political Key Message in generally are depicted as personal figure of religious, assertive, hard, patriot, polite, calm, integrity, smart and close to society.]]>

<![CDATA[Covid 19 cases in Indonesia have been published since early March 2020. These cases have continued to increase significantly, spreading to almost all provinces in Indonesia including Aceh Province. In fact, Aceh province is the province with the highest increase in coronavirus deaths in mid-October. As conditions deteriorate, the government continues to implement policy reforms to suppress the spread of Covid-19, including policies in the education world using online methods. Online learning is an educational innovation that uses elements of information technology as a means of support. This study aims to answer the question, how do online communication and learning at universities in Aceh during the Covid-19 pandemic? The theory used in this research is the theory of technological determinism. This research uses qualitative methods with descriptive analytical presentation. The research showed that Aceh universities used many online learning models such as the Zoom application, Google Classroom, WhatsApp and others. This is related to the interest of the application users. Online learning guidelines also have advantages and disadvantages with students and lecturers studying at universities in Aceh.]]>

<![CDATA[This research is based on a gender study conducted to the readers of Serambi Indonesia. The study is aimed at looking to the perception of women about Islamic Sharia implementation in Aceh. The analysis was done by using a qualitative approach in Critical Paradigm focusing on the domination and oppression problems, and Reception Analysis method. The theory referred in this study is Reception Analysis Theory to explain the meaning of domination constructed by the media and how the media readers interpreted it and second, Multicultural Feminism is used to explain that every woman does not equally constructed in interpreting oppression of Islamic Sharia implementation in Aceh. The results of the present study in the texts of Serambi Indonesia’s articles showed that in reality, Islamic Sharia implementation which is constructed in the dominant perspective represents the proponent’s viewpoint of Sharia, while the women are portrayed as a “sinner” or “rebel”. On the other hand, there is a variety of interpretations from the readers. There was only one informant from the “dominant-hegemonic position” and three informants were in the “negotiated” position, which tend to have the same or almost the same perception to the message conveyed by Serambi Indonesia. There are other four informants who were in the “opposite” position who are very much against the meaning expressed by Serambi Indonesia, that the texts of Sharia implementation likely tends to disadvantage women.]]>

<![CDATA[Environmental discourse is considered as one of the essential narratives since it involves the role of women. In the gender perspective, women in environmental issues are often described as a sidekick. Farwiza Farhan is one of the environmentalists who contributes to the environmental campaign effort. The study aims to focus on the framing of Farwiza Farhan’s figure against her contribution as the keeper of the Leuser Ecosystem (KEL) on online media environmental reports. This study used the Framing Analysis approach, Environmental Journalism, and Heroism concept. The researchers chose and analyzed three news from online news media: serambinews. com as a local source; and republika. co. id and bbc. com as national sources. This research was analyzed by using Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki’s Framing Analysis method. The finding shows that the news media frames Farwiza Farhan as an environmental activist with a heroism narrative. Farwiza is portrayed as a heroic, selfless, courageous, and intelligent personality. She is adaptive and determined to deal with conflict, and she also has initiative and leadership. Heroism is perceived as an environmental perspective-journalism strategy of online news media to deliver environmental knowledge and to raise public awareness towards the environmental issue.]]>

<![CDATA[The aims of this study is to examine how the pros and cons of Law Number 40 of 1999 concerning the Press as a lex specialis from a legal point of view. This research is a descriptive qualitative study with a literature review approach, which focuses on discussing the substance of the law and the issues under study in accordance with the relevant literature. The results of the study illustrate that there are pros and cons related to the position of the Law. No.40 of 1999 concerning the press as lex specialis. The pro side illustrates that press activities and various disputes that arise in it when referring to the press law that has been specially formulated is used to solve press problems specifically, so that it is considered a lex specialis. On the other hand, it emphasizes that the press law from various sides does not meet the requirements as a lex specialis because there is no clear legal basis for reference from any parent law.]]>

<![CDATA[The phenomenon of coffee shops that have been prevalent in Aceh go hand in hand with thedevelopment of communication and information technology. The existence of a coffee shop thatused to describe the miniaturized social interaction of the people of Aceh in a conventional way,now shifts its meaning as a means of reflecting the modernity of contemporary Acehnesesociety. The purpose of this study is to see how the shift in the meaning of the reality of coffeeshops to contemporary Acehnese society. The theoretical and conceptual approaches used toexamine the problems are: the Hiperealitas concept by Jean Baudrillard, and The OnlineDisinhibition Effect Theory by John Suler. This study is qualitative descriptive, using literaturereview method as data collection and analysis technique. The results of the study illustrate that:(1) the reality in the coffee shop is one part of the sign hypereality in the contemporary socioculturalcontext of Acehnese society (2) the disinhibtion behavior of the Acehnese community incyberspace can also be formed from the intensity of activity in the coffee shop with free internetfacility, and (3) the Acehnese community is a consumer society with 'ecstasy' of virtualsimulations obtained from coffee shops.Keywords : Hyper-reality, Virtual Community, Consumerisme, Consumer Society]]>

<![CDATA[Since the beginning of 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic has changed learning models and communication models at the university level. The face-to-face learning process is shifted to an online learning process using various distance learning applications. This has implications for the communication patterns that occured between students and students. This study aims to examine how the process of interpersonal communication that emphasizes aspects of developing communication relationships that are formed between students and their colleagues during the distance learning process. The theoretical approach used in this study is Social Penetration Theory which emphasizes several stages: 1) orientation stage; 2) Exploratory Affective Exchange Stage; 3) Exploratory Exchange Stage) and 4) Stable Exchange Stage. Furthemore, the method used in this research is descriptive qualitative using online survey tools and closed interviews. The population of this research is active students at Teuku Umar University class of 2019 and 2020, with a total of 20 informants. The result showed online learning provided a different virtual communication pattern in the relationship development process. The informants prioritized the virtual images displayed and more active communication repossession with a good attitude. Relationship development is also at the stage of forming comfort and not being intimate. With a relationship cycle back and forth, especially when they met in real.]]>
