Abstract

Study of parasitoid Eriborus argenteopilosus Cameron (Hymenoptera : Ichneumonidae) on S. litura Fabricius (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) was conducted in laboratorium Entomology Departement Plant pest and desease Faculty of agriculture, Andalas University in January to March 2006. The study was used biological assay methode to known parasititation and potential fecundity of  parental parasitoid. The result showed that fluctuation parasititation (63 - 17,99 %) and superparasitisme (36,67 - 3,33%) E. argenteopilosus on S. litura Potential fecundity of E. argenteopilosus 182,3±72 and potential release  73,7±49 eggs. The survival of parental adult  E. argenteopilosus only 6 days in laboratorium. Key words : E. argenteopilosus, Parasititation,  S. litura

Abstract

Effect of temperature and host density on superparasitisme by Eriborus argenteopilosus: Implication for biological control. Superparatism is a type of parasite in which the host is attacked by another parasitoid. Superparatism is influenced by several factors including temperature and host density. The aim of this research was to investigate the effect of temperature and host density on superparatism E. argenteopilosus. Different number of larva C. pavonana (15, 30, 60, 90 and 120) was infested with a female parasitoidat various temperature (200, 250, and 300C) for three hours. The larva host was disectionto enable us to count the number of eggs. The study result reveals that superparatism E. argenteopilosus was influenced by temperature and host density. Superparatism occured randomly at different temperature reaching the highest at 200 with host density of 15 and 30.

Abstract

Temperature effect on development time of the preadult parasitoid Eriborus argenteopilosus Cameron(Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) were studied to know development time, degree days and survival rate.Crocidolomia pavonana (Fabricius)(Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) larvae was exposed to E. argenteopilosus female andreared at four different temperatures i.e 160C, 200C, 250C and 300C. Data were analyzed using anova and linearregression to calculate degree day. At 200C E. argenteopilosus showed the highest degree day and survival rate(18.67 %), while at 300C nothing adult parasitoid emergenced. Degree day to development time of parasitoid attemperature 200C i.e fase egg-adult: 300.05; egg-pupae 173.35; pupae-adult 171.

Abstract

Some flowering plants like common zinnia (Zinnia elegans (Jacq) Kuntze), marigold (Tagetes erecta Linnaeus), and cockscomb flowers (Celosia sp.) have been used as refugia and conservation plants for predators and parasitoids but are still not yet optimal. Planting refugia plants can affect insect diversity and evenness index, affecting the stability and balance of the agroecosystem. The study aimed to determine the effect of common zinnia, cockscomb flowers, and marigold as refugia on insects’ diversity and evenness index and their potential as a medium for conservation of predators and parasitoids. The study was conducted in organic rice fields in Batang Anai Sub-district, Padang Pariaman District, West Sumatra, from May to July 2020. The Insect was collected from plots covering an area of ??48 m2 and identified in the Bioecology laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Andalas. Planting common zinnia, marigolds, and cockscomb flowers increased the index of diversity and evenness of insects around rice fields. The index of diversity and evenness of insects on cockscomb flowers (H = 2.90) was higher than that of common zinnia (H = 2.61) and marigold (H = 2.63). Cockscomb flowers have more potential as a medium for conserving predators and parasitoids.

Abstract

The functional response of the parasitoid Eriborus argenteopilosus (Cameron) (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) were studied using Crocidolomia pavonana (Fabricius) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) larvae as host at different densities. All larvae were exposed to one E. argenteopilosus female for three hours at three different temperatures, i.e 20 oC, 25 oC, and 30 oC. Data were analyzed using logistic regression to determine the type of functional response. At 20 oC E. argenteopilosus showed type II functional response, while at 25 oC and 30 oC the functional response is type III. Based on surface analysis, the optimal parasitism rate occurred at 22.24 oC with 10.12 larvae parasitized/hour. The larvae density to achieve optimal parasitism rate was 69.38 larvae. The optimal oviposition rate was 12.59 eggs/hour which occurred at 24.41 oC, using a density of 94.54 larvae.

Abstract

Petani sangat mengandalkan insektisida sintetik dalam upaya pengendalian hama. Penggunaan insektisida sintetik yang tidak bijaksana dapat menyebabkan kerusakan lingkungan yang ditandai dengan musnahnya mikro organisme tanah, matinya musuh alami, dan matinya organisme bukan sasaran lainnya. Selain itu dampak negatif residu pestisida pada produk pertanian dapat menyebabkan gangguan kesehatan pada manusia yang mengkonsumsi produk yang terkontaminasi residu pestisida. Pengendalian hama alternatif yang ramah lingkungan sangat dibutuhkan dalam proses budidaya tanaman, diantaranya adalah insektisida botani. Upaya mengurangi ketergantungan petani terhadap insektisida sintetik dapat dilakukan dengan menjadikan petani sebagai produsen insektisida dan bukan hanya sebagai konsumen. Insektisida botani dari bahan tumbuhan yang ada di sekitar tempat bercocok tanam dapat digunakan sebagai tindakan pencegahan (preventif) dari serangan hama. Piper aduncum atau yang disebut sirih hutan dan Tephrosia vogelii atau disebut kacang babi banyak ditemukan di lahan pertanian produktif Alahan Panjang, Sumatera Barat. Campuran dua jenis bahan ini dengan perbandingan 2:1 diketahui dapat mengendalikan hama dari golongan Lepidoptera yang menyerang sayuran. Sosialisasi penggunaan di tingkat petani, latihan penyiapan bahan tanaman dan pembuatan larutan semprot dengan konsentrasi 5%, perlu dilakukan agar pengendalian hama efektif dan efisien. Manfaat kegiatan ini dapat membantu petani dalam mengendalikan serangan hama pada tanaman budidaya, mengurangi penggunaan insektisida sintetik, menghemat biaya produksi dan secara tidak langsung meningkatkan pendapatan petani.

Abstract

Branch dieback is one of the primary diseases in cacao plants. The disease affects young shoots and twigs, causes leaves to die, and leaves them bare, interfering with photosynthesis. This study aimed to determine the causative pathogens in Padang City. The locations were: Sungai Sarik Kuranji, Lubuk Minturun Koto Tangah, and Teluk Kabung Bungus. The locations have the following criteria: age ? three years, the number of plants at the location ? 50 individuals, and found symptoms of branch dieback. The research used descriptive methods. The sample represented 10% of the total number of plants at the location, was collected randomly. The results found four species of fungi associated with the disease, namely Oncobasidium theobromae, Botrydiplodia theobromae, Fusarium decemcellulare, and Fusarium sp1.
