Abstract

Biologi dan Statistik Demografi Menochilus sexmaculatus Fabricius (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) Predator Aphis gossypii Glover (Homoptera: Aphididae). Masa perkembangan pradewasa dan imago serta keperidian Menochilus sexmaculatus (Fabricius) (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) telah diteliti di laboratorium dengan menggunakan Aphis gossypii (Glover) (Homoptera: Aphididae) sebagai mangsa. Masa perkembangan M. sexmaculatus sejak stadium telur hingga menjadi imago adalah 29,43 ± 4,71 hari. Perkembangan larva terdiri dari empat instar, masa perkembangan instar I sampai IV berturut-turut adalah 1,72 ± 0,21 hari, 1,74 ± 0,31 hari, 2,30 ± 0,46 hari dan 2,46 ± 0,40 hari. Betina M. sexmaculatus yang keluar dari pupa mampu meletakkan telur sebanyak 123,44 ± 15,03 butir, selama 13,50 ± 2,12 hari. Parameter demografi M. sexmaculatus menunjukkan bahwa laju reproduksi kotor (GRR) adalah 130,50 individu per generasi; laju reproduksi bersih (Ro) 40,15 individu per induk per generasi; laju pertumbuhan intrinsik (rm) sebesar 0,44 individu per induk per hari; masa generasi rata-rata (T) selama 16,87 hari; populasi berlipat ganda (DT) selama 1,57 hari.Keywords: Predator, Coccinellidae, Aphididae sp, Cabai

Abstract

The abundance of sac caterpillar populations in a oil palm plantation ecosystem is very important to know so that farmers can know the losses that can be caused and overcome the attack of sac caterpillars on oil palm plants and to know the types of natural enemies of sac caterpillars so that the control based on the IPM concept can be applied. This study aims to determine population abundance and sac caterpillars (Lepidoptera: Acrolophidae) pests and natural enemies in smallholder oil palm plantations. Sampling was carried out 3 times at the locations of Nagari Padang Laweh and Nagari Muaro Sopan in March-May 2019 using the survey method and observing sac caterpillars and natural enemies carried out by direct collection. Samples that have been obtained from each observation point are counted by the number of larvae and natural enemies. The results showed that higher rates of sac caterpillar attacks occurred in Nagari Padang Laweh. At the location in Padang Laweh, the total population collected was 793, and at the Muaro Sopan location, 41 caterpillars were found. The highest percentage of sac caterpillar attacks in the Padang Laweh location sample was 76.92%, and the lowest percentage of attacks in the Muaro Sopan location sample was 35.89%. The rate of attack of the sac caterpillar on the 9th midrib is 30.00 tails per midrib which is included in the weight category. Natural enemies found in both study sites are predators of spider types.

Abstract

ABSTRAKDharmasraya merupakan kabupaten yang berpotensi untuk pengembangan kakao, terbukti dengan meningkatnya luas areal perkebunan setiap tahun. Pengembangan kakao di Dharmasraya dihadapkan pada beberapa kendala yang mengakibatkan produksi kakao rendah, salah satunya adalah serangan kepik penghisap buah kakao (Helopeltis sp.) Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mempelajari kelimpahan populasi dan tingkat kerusakan kepik penghisap buah kakao. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Sitiung Kabupaten Dharmasraya yang terdiri dari tiga nagari yaitu Siguntur, Sitiung dan Gunung Medan. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan November 2018 sampai dengan Januari 2019. Penelitian ini berbentuk survei menggunakan metode Purposive Random Sampling. Penentuan tanaman sampel dilakukan secara sistematis, sehingga terdapat 30 batang tanaman sampel pada satu lahan. Serangga contoh dikoleksi dengan cara hand collecting dan teknik chemical knock down. Kelimpahan kepik penghisap buah kakao yang diperoleh pada penelitian tergolong rendah yaitu 79 individu dengan rata-rata 0,23-0,36 individu/batang. Persentase kerusakan tergolong tinggi terdapat di Nagari Siguntur yakni 81,43% dan terendah di Nagari Gunung Medan yakni 70,36%. Intensitas kerusakan yang tertinggi terdapat di Nagari Siguntur yakni 73,12% dan terendah di Nagari Gunung Medan yakni 68,15%.ABSTRACTDharmasraya is a district that has the potential for cacao development, proven by increasing the cacao plantation area every year. Cacao development in Dharmasraya was faced with several obstacleswhich resulted in low cacao production. One of the obstacles  in the cultivation process is (Helopeltis sp.) Therefore,the purpose of this research was to study the population abundance and the damage levels of to cacao fruit sucking bugs. Research was carried out in SitiungSubdistrict, Dharmasraya which consisted of three nagari namely Siguntur, Sitiung and Gunung Medan. The research began in November 2018 to January 2019. This research was a survey using the Purposive Random Sampling  method. The sample plants were determine   systematically, so there were 30 plant samples in each nagari. Insect samples were collected by hand collecting and chemical knock down techniques. The abundance of cacao fruit sucking bugs was 79 individuals, with averages were 0.23 – 0.36 individual / plant. The percentage of damage was high, where the highest was obtained in Siguntur 81.43% and the lowest was in Gunung Medan 70.36%.  In addition, the highest damage intensity was found in Sigunturthat was 73.12% and the lowest in Gunung Medan that was 68.15%.

Abstract

Title: Optimizing the Role of Assistance Student of Upsus Pajale Programs to Accelerate the Introduction of Cultivation Technology Jajar Legowo Super in Sijunjung RegencyThe Faculty of Agriculture of Andalas University is one of the government's partners in the successful implementation of Rice, Corn and Soybean (Upsus) Program at special province of West Sumatra. The implementation of Upsus Pajale in West Sumatra was found in eight districts and cities on 2017, one of which was Sijunjung Regency. Students and alumni participated as a companion in the implementation of several Upsus Pajale programs.  In contrast to the implementation of Upsus Pajale in 2015 and 2016, in 2017, there were activities in applying technology in the work area of the accompanying students. The technology introduced by the field assistant lecturer together with the accompanying students, is the cultivation of Jajar Legowo super. The application of this technology was implemented in three sub-districts in Sijunjung Regency, namely Sijunjung, Tanjung Gadang and Kamang Baru. The activity was carried out in the form of a demonstration plot on the partner farmer's group's land. The technology of jajar legowo super has been successfully introduced to partner farmer groups, which is marked by increased production. The results showed that there was an increase in rice productivity using the Jajar Legowo Super method up to 4.6 tons / ha to 5.2 tons / ha than the conventional method of only 1.7-2 tons / ha.

Abstract

Biology and demographic statistics of lady beetle Coccinella  transversalis Thunberg (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) using Aphis gossypii (Hemiptera: Aphididae) as prey was studied in laboratory. Development of  C. transversalis from egg to adult was 31.02±4.73 days. The egg stage lasted for 2.33±0.58 days. Larva stage has four instars, which lasted for 2.43±0.19 days (instar I); 2.53 days±0.19 (instar II); 2.64±0.04 days (instar III), and 2.77±0.21 days (instar IV). A female laid 90.44±14.38 eggs. Meanwhile, gross reproduction rate (GRR) of C. transversalis was 74.80 individuals per generation, the net reproduction rate (R0) was 18.22 individual per female per generation, the innate capacity for increase (rm) was 0.46 individual female per day, the mean generation time (T) 12.40 days, and the double population value (DT) was 1.51 days. IntisariMasa perkembangan pradewasa dan imago serta keperidian Coccinella  transversalis (Thunberg) (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) telah diteliti di laboratorium dengan menggunakan Aphis gossypii (Glover) (Homoptera: Aphididae) sebagai mangsa. Masa perkembangan C. transversalis sejak stadium telur hingga menjadi imago adalah 31,02±4,73 hari. Perkembangan larva terdiri dari empat instar, masa perkembangan instar I sampai IV berturut-turut adalah 2,43±0,19 hari; 2,53±0,19 hari; 2,64±0,04 hari, dan 2,77±0,21 hari, dengan masa pupa 3,18±0,77 hari. Umur imago betina C. transversalis lebih panjang jika dibandingkan dengan imago jantan yakni 15,14±1,90 dan 13,63±1,00 hari. Imago betina meletakkan telur setelah melewati masa pra oviposisi selama 2,67±0,58 hari. Masa oviposisi C. transversalis yakni 8,97±0,89 hari dengan jumlah telur yang diletakkan yakni 90,44±14,38 butir. Parameter demografi C. transversalis adalah laju reproduksi kotor (GRR) adalah 74,80 individu per generasi; laju reproduksi bersih (Ro) 18,22 individu per induk per generasi; laju pertumbuhan intrinsik (rm) sebesar 0,46 individu per induk per hari; masa rata-rata generasi (T) selama 12,40 hari; dan nilai pelipatgandaan populasi (DT) adalah 1,51 hari.

Abstract

Caterpillar fire is classified as the main pests in oil palm plants and are found in almost all oil palm plantations in Indonesia. The caterpillar fire control is currently being directed to biological control by predatory insects. Insects from the Reduviidae family are one of the insects whose members are predators of caterpillar fire. This study aims to (1) identify predatory ladybug species (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) found in endemic areas of caterpillar fire attacks. (2) studying the abundance of predatory ladybugs (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) in areas endemic to fire caterpillar attacks. The research locations were Nagari Panyubarangan, Timpeh district, and Nagari Gunung Selasih, Pulau Punjung district. Identification of sample insects was carried out at the insect Bioecology Laboratory, plant protection department, faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University and campus III land and plant laboratory Dharmasraya from April-July 2018. The sampling of insects uses two methods, namely direct collection, and swing net. In this research, 8 species of predatory ladybugs were found. Of these 8 species, only 3 species preyed on caterpillar fire. Species that prey on fire caterpillars have the highest abundance of Cosmolestes practices as many as 116 individuals and followed by 64 individual Zelus regarding species.

Abstract

Maize is the main cash crop in intercropping system applied for replanting of palm oil which is expected to be the main source of income before palm oil crops produce. The transfer of maize cultivation technology in small holder palm oil plantation is aimed at increasing production of maize without harming the main crops and maintaining the productivity of land and the environment. Increased income can also be done through efforts to increase the added value of maize seeds into various food products. KKN-PPM activities that took place in Nagari Persiapan Girimaju, Luhak Nan Duo sub-district, West Pasaman district from June to August 2018 aimed to transfer maize production technology that is environmentally friendly and to transfer knowledge and skills in increasing the value added of maize into various food and other processed products. Results obtained from the KKN activities were (1) the community was able to apply maize production technology which was synergized with cattle farming, (2) there was an increase in the efficiency of maize production through introduction of maize sheller machine, (3) the community was able to produce a variety of maize-based food products and ( 4) the formation of new UMKMs in the location. The results of statistical analysis using a Likert scale gave an index value of 0.99 on the impact/benefits of KKN, indicating that KKN-PPM activities were categorized as very successful and benefited to the community, and gave an index value of 0.95 for the performance of KKN team, indicating that KKN-PPM team had sufficient competency and suitability knowledge with the program conducted.

Abstract

Suatu daerah dikatakan endemik apabila terdapat laporan serangan OPT tertentu dalam skala besar. Daerah endemik serangan hama kelapa sawit dapat menjadi pedoman dalam mempelajari tingkat serangan hama di daerah tertentu. Ketinggian serangan hama pada daerah tertentu dapat menjadi acuan dalam menentukan teknik pengendalian yang tepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis hama yang menyerang tanaman kelapa sawit di daerah endemik Kabupaten Dharmasraya. Metode yang digunakan adalah purposive random sampling. Sedangkan untuk pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan koleksi langsung menggunakan tangan. Hasil penelitian ini didapatkan sebanyak 353 individu serangga dari 4 ordo, 9 famili dan 14 spesies. Jumlah individu tertinggi berasal dari Coptotermes sp sedangkan yang terendah spesies Setora nitens. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa keanekaragaman serangga endemik kelapa sawit menyerang sangat tinggi dengan total spesies yang ditemukan sebanyak 14 spesies.

Abstract

Serangga pengunjung bunga memiliki peran yang sangat penting, karena beberapa spesies serangga pengunjung bunga berperan sebagai agen penyerbuk pada tanaman kelapa sawit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari keanekaragaman serangga pengunjung bunga pada tanaman kelapa sawit. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Nagari Sungai Dareh, Gunung Selasih, IV Koto, Kec. Pulau Punjung, Kab. Dharmasraya dari bulan Oktober sampai Desember 2017. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan hand collecting, insect net, dan yellow pan trap. Data keanekaragaman spesies dianalisis menggunakan indeks Shannon Wiener, kemerataan spesies menggunakan indeks Simpson serta dominasi spesies menggunakan indeks nilai penting. Hasil penelitian ditemukan sebanyak 25.900 individu, 10 ordo dan 30 famili. Indeks keanekaragaman pada bunga jantan adalah 0,52 dan indeks keanekaragaman pada bunga betina adalah 0,96. Indeks kemerataan pada bunga jantan yakni 0,27 dan kemerataan bunga betina yakni 0,32. Indeks keanekaragaman dan kemerataan Nagari Gunung Selasih yaitu 1,35 dan kemerataan 0,59. Dinagari IV Koto indeks keanekaragaman yakni 1,50 dan indeks kemerataan yakni 0,67 sedangkan Nagari Sungai Dareh indeks keanekaragaman yakni 1,37 dan kemarataan 0,42. Ordo Coleoptera family Curculionidae memiliki indeks nilai penting tertinggi yaitu 1,00.
