Abstract

Spurred by a global energy crisis, the use of renewable distributed generation (DG) with solar photovoltaic (PV) energy, micro-hydro power, and biomass power are gaining momentum and play major role in Bali’s distribution system as an alternative distribution system planning option. If distributed generation planning is optimal by selected optimization of multi-objective function under certain operating constraints and then their site and size are also selected optimally, the penetration of DGs is potentially beneficial. This paper would review techno-economic model objective, voltage profile improvement and power losses constraints as well as optimization based model using particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm application in Bali’s distributed generation planning.

Abstract

The problem of decreasing and increasing power flow in hybrid AC-DC microgrids in island operations is the concern of this research. This condition arises if one sub-microgrid cannot supply load power requirements, either due to a decrease in power at the source or an increase in load on the sub-microgrid network. As a result, in this research used the bidirectional converter as an interlinking converter, the converter can change the power flow from the ac sub microgrid to the dc sub microgrid and vice versa. With this bidirectional converter, load power requirements can be met even though there is a power change in one of the sub microgrid. The simulation in this research support by Simulink/Matlab software. The model is built in a low voltage system, and the power flow analysis is in steady-state condition with two different cases. The simulation results show the stability and reliability of the power flow in both sub microgrid with stable frequency and voltage when power and load change occur.

Abstract

Photovoltaic system (PV) is widely used in various renewable energy application. The main problem of PV system is how to get the maximum output power which is integrated in microgrid system. Furthermore, the redundancy output power generated by on a distribution system should also be considered. This study utilizes the excess power for energy storage using bidirectional of KY inverse converter. Since the DC voltage which generated by PV and the energy storage will be converted into AC voltage using inverter toward load. This paper proposes ANFIS as search optimization method using SEPIC converter with a maximum efficiency of 99.95% to impact to power generation performance  in microgrid system.

Abstract

This paper represents the GSA that can be used to determine the optimal location and rating of FACTS devices. They are devices used to regulate and improve the power flow in the power system. The method used in this study was GSA. FACTS types used were TCSC implemented on 500kV Java-Bali Power System. Load flow results before optimization showed that the active power loss was 297.607MW. While the load flow results after optimization using GSA with 5-TCSC obtained were 287.926MW of active power loss, with 10-TCSC, it was obtained 281.143MW of active power loss. In addition, using 15-TCSC, the active power loss obtained was 279.405MW. GSA methods can be used to minimize power losses and transmission lines as well as to improve the value of the voltage in the range of 0.95+ 1.05pu compared with load flow results before optimization. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i5.1183
