Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is a painful muscle spasm of the uterus that occurs during menstruation. In Indonesia, the incidence of dysmenorrhea is 64.25% consisting of 54.89% primary dysmenorrhea and 9.6% secondary dysmenorrhea. The incidence of dysmenorrhea in Riau among female adolescents in the fifty districts of Pekanbaru City is 85.7%, students have experienced menarche, and 80% of adolescent girls experience pain during menstruation consisting of 25% mild pain, 66.7% moderate pain, 8 , 3% of severe pain and the remaining 20% of young women do not experience pain during menstruation. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of William Flexion exercise on the level of menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea). This study used the One Group Pre-Test Post-Test Design. The sample size was 16 grade VIII students who experienced menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) in SMP N 37 Pekanbaru who were selected using purposive sampling technique. Based on the results of the Wilcoxon signed rank test where the p value = 0.001 was smaller than the alpha value (p <0.050) which indicated the effect of the William Flexion exercise technique on the level of menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) in grade VIII students at SMP N 37 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of leaf decoction of antihypertensive herbs commonly used in Indonesia to lower blood pressure. This study used female rats induced hypertension as animal models. In this experimental study, rats were divided into seven experimental groups consisting of four rats for each group. Rats have induced hypertension with a dose of 2.5 mg/kg BW of prednisone and 2.5% NaCl. Hypertension induction for rats was carried out for 14 days, treatment with herbs of leaf decoction (soursop, starfruit, celery, and salam) with a dose of 200 mg/kg BW for 14 days. Rat's blood pressure was measured by the tail-cuff method at 0 days, 14 days, and 28 days. Statistical analysis used was an analysis of variance with ANOVA followed by a comparison between treatments with Dunnet's test. This study showed that all the herbal plants given were able to reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure in female rats induced by hypertension, especially boiled celery leaves and star fruit leaves with p-value < 0.05.

Abstract

Menstrual pain or dysmenorrhea is defined as pain that occurs before or during a menstrual period, this pain may last from one to several days. Dysmenorrhea is menstrual pain that is often complained of by women, which is characterized by brief pain before or during menstruation (Lowdermilk et al., 2011). There are many ways to reduce dysmenorrhea pain, one of which is yoga. Yoga helps the body's endocrine glands function better, and when done for at least 30 seconds during your period, it can help relieve dysmenorrhea and facilitate menstruation.  The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of yoga movements in reducing dysmenorrhea pain. The research design was pre-experimental designs, using one group pre-test and post-test. Samples are taken by technique purposive samplings many as 24 respondents. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test. Univariate results before doing yoga results obtained most of the students experienced pain on average on a scale of 4, namely 11 respondents (45%) and on a pain scale of 3, namely 7 female students (29%). female students (62%). The bivariate results obtained that there was an effect of yoga movement on dysmenorrhea pain in young women at SMAN 1 Tambang with a p value of 0.000. It was concluded that there is effectiveness of yoga movements in relieving dysmenorrhea pain and there are significant differences between before and after doing yoga movements. It is recommended that young women do yoga regularly to relieve dysmenorrhea pain.

Abstract

Gender differences and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM)-associated inflammatory biomarkers are correlated with high levels of anxiety. However, no study has investigated gender differences and high level of white blood cells (WBC) on anxiety among participants with T2DM in Indonesia. We examined the roles of gender and WBCs on anxiety symptoms in T2DM. A cross-sectional study was performed on 294 patients with T2DM recruited from five community clinics with multistage cluster sampling. Depression, anxiety and Stress-21 (DASS-21) a standardized questionnaire was used to measure anxiety and WBCs was determined using an XP-100 automated haematology analyzer. The adjusted coefficients beta (coefficient Beta) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were performed using a multiple linear regression model. Statistical analyses were calculated using SPSS version 25.0, with a p-value of less than 0.05 set as statistically significant. Females exhibited significantly higher levels of anxiety (Beta=0.26, 95% CI=0.07–0.94) than male respondents. Notably, respondents with WBCs of ³7.576 had significantly higher anxiety (Beta=2.04, 95% CI=1.12–3.71) than patients with WBCs of less than7.576. There was high prevalence of axienty symptoms in this Indonesian sample of respondents. Female and high level of WBCs exist on increasing susceptibility to anxiety symptoms among individuals with T2DM.Abstrak: Perbedaan jenis kelamin dan biomarker inflamasi terkait diabetes mellitus tipe 2 (T2DM) berkorelasi dengan tingkat kecemasan yang tinggi.

Abstract

Striae Gravidarum is a common skin disorder that occurs during pregnancy which is commonly found in the mother's stomach. The prevalence of striae gravidarum in pregnant women ranges from 50-90%. The effects of striae gravidarum cause itching, heat and dry and emotional disturbances, causing cosmetic problems in most mothers. Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) has an effective content to maintain skin elasticity, many contain moderate chain saturated fatty acids, which are believed to be drugs that can prevent striae. This research is a research using analytical survey method with pre experimental design approach with pretest-posttest with control group design. The population in this study was 32 pregnant women who had striae gravidarum, before they were pre-tested by observing the amount of striae, then interventions were carried out by applying Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) to the belly of pregnant women, after that a posttest was done by re-observing the amount of striae. striae gravidarum. This study uses the Paired Sample T-test hypothesis test to determine the effectiveness of administration of Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) to prevent straie gravidarum in pregnancy. The application of applying Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) on the belly of pregnant women carried out for 8 weeks and showed a decrease in the number of straie gravidarum in pregnant women. Based on the effect test using Paired sample T-test in the pre-test group showed the results of p = 0.162 <0.05 and in the post-test group p = 0.000 <0.05. thus it can be concluded the effectiveness of giving Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) to striae gravidarum in pregnant women.
