Abstract

Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) is one of the initial screening methods for testing cytotoxic compounds. Previous studies have scientifically proven that Averrhoa bilimbi L leaves have antioxidant effects so that the basis of the aim of this study is to determine the toxicity effects of ethanol extracts of starfruit starfruit shrimp (Artemia salina L.) using the BSLT method. Testing was done using several variations of concentration, namely 10 μg / mL, 250 μg / mL, 500 μg / mL, 750 μg / mL, and 1000 μg / mL. Based on observations and analysis of data obtained that the ethanol extract of Averrhoa bilimbi L leaves gives a moderate toxic effect with LC50 value of 367,282 ± 33.81 µg / mL.

Abstract

Research about curcumin content in extract of some rhizomes from zingiberaceae Family had been done. This research aimed to determine the content of curcumin in turmeric rhizome extract (Curcuma domestica Val.), Curcuma xanthorriza Roxb, Curcuma mangga Val., Curcuma zedoaria (Berg) Rosc. and Curcuma aeruginosa Roxb. using thin layer chromatography densitometry (TLC-densitometry) method based on the area of the rhizomes extract and curcumin standard. Each sample was extracted by soxhlet with acetone as solvent. Content of curcumin in the extracts was obtained using TLC with the silica gel GF254 as stationary phase and chloroform: methanol (95 : 5) as mobile phase and was analyzed using TLC-densitometer and measured at 420 nm. Results showed that curcumin content from each extract was found in C. domestica, C. xanthorrhiza, C. aeruginosa, C. mangga, C. zedoaria were 11.33, 5.95, 2.80, 1.80 and 0.60%.

Abstract

The research concerning on the effectiveness of isopropyl myristate as a penetration enhancer agent against diffusion rate of antioxidant creams containing lyophilizates kasumba turate seed (Carthamus tinctorius L.) extract using Franz diffusion method had been done. This research aims to determine the optimum concentration of isopropyl myristate in kasumba turate antioxidant cream. Started with the sample preparation, the seeds of kasumba turate were extracted using infusion method, lyophilized and specified its total polyphenol. As regard the lyophilization process, the lyophilizates were formulated into W/O cream with varied concentration of isopropyl myristate at 1% (FII), 5% (FIII), 10% (FIV) w/w and used cream without isopropyl myristate as negative control. Physical stability of creams was evaluated both before and after stressed conditional storages and used Franz diffusion instrument to observe the penetration ability of creams. As the result, all creams are physically stable. Furthermore, FIII and FIV have good penetration manner, especially FIV using 10% isopropyl myristate as a penetration enhancer agent in lyophilizates kasumba turate cream has the greatest polyphenol flux and cumulative amount.

Abstract

Research on the separation and characterization of chemical compounds from taro tuber (Colocasia esculenta Schott var. antiquorum) has been done. The maceration results of 850.00 g simplicial with 70 % ethanol solvent obtained 102.16 g brown viscous extract. The result of chemical components identification showed that the ethanol extract of taro tuber was positive for alkaloids, flavonoids, and terpenoids. Separation and purification of the ethanol extract were done by a liquid-liquid partition, thin layer chromatography and two-dimensional chromatography with a combination of n-hexane and ethyl acetate (2:8) as mobile phase. We found 4 bands (I-IV) with maximum wavelength were 407.0, 268.50, 253.00, and 209.50 nm. The presence of absorption at a wavelength of 268.50 nm and 253.00 nm indicating the presence of a class of flavonoids. The infrared spectrum showed that the isolates had typical groups such as O-H, C=O, C-C, C-O, and C=C.

Abstract

Daun Pare (Momordica charantia L.) mempunyai kandungan flavanoid yang memiliki potensi sebagai obat penurun panas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memformulasi sediaan patch ekstrak daun Pare (Momordicacharantia L.) dan menguji efektivitasnya sebagai antipiretik. Pembuatan sediaan patch menggunakan basis HPMC dan PVP dengan metode penguapan pelarut (solvent evaporation casting). Metode pengujian efek antipiretik yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah induksi pepton 5% sebanyak 1 ml secara subkutan. Karakteristik sediaan didapat dari evaluasi meliputi uji organoleptik, uji keseragaman bobot, uji ketahanan lipatan, uji ketebalan dan uji susut pengeringan. Hasil uji efektivitas diperoleh pada konsentrasi 1% dengan penurunan suhu yang optimal pada menit 90 dan 120.

Abstract

Tumbuhan cemba merupakan salah satu tanaman endemik di Kabupaten Enrekang Sulawesi Selatan. Tumbuhan ini memiliki kandungan kimia diantaranya minyak atsiri, flavonoid, saponin, terpenoid dan alkaloid. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengeksplorasi aktivitas daun cemba sebagai antifungi. Metode pada penelitian ini, digunakan bagian daun melalui tahap maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 70%. Hasil ekstraksi dilakukan pengujian aktivitas dengan metode difusi agar pada Candida albicans. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya aktivitas hambatan ekstrak etanol daun cemba terhadap Candida albicans pada konsentrasi 3% (9,37 mm) , 5% (10,8 mm) dan 7% (13,25 mm).

Abstract

Kopasanda (Chromolaena odorata L.) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang digunakan secara empiris oleh masyarakat sebagai obat luka bakar dan antioksidan. Tanaman kopasanda mengandung senyawa flavonoid, saponin, triterpenoid, alkaloid dan tanin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi toksisitas akut ekstrak etanol daun kopasanda (Chromolaena odorata L.) menggunakan metode Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) dengan konsentrasi 10, 20, 30, 40 dan 50 bpj serta air laut sebagai kontrol. Pengamatan terhadap kematian Artemia salina Leach diamati selama 24 jam yang dilakukan setiap jam pada 6 jam pertama selanjutnya pada jam ke 12, 18 dan 24. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ekstrak etanol daun kopasanda memiliki daya toksisitas yang tergolong sedang dengan nilai LC50 sebesar 101,62 bpj.

Abstract

Utilization of Arachis hypogaea L. which has the potential as antibacterial. This is due to the presence of compounds that have the potential to be antibacterial, namely alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, terpenoids and tannins. This study aims to determine the activity, formulation, and evaluation of preparations and to test the effectiveness of liquid soap preparations from ethanol extract of peanut outer shells against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Extraction was carried out by maceration method using 70% ethanol, testing for antibacterial activity using agar diffusion method and then formulated using surfactant variations and evaluating preparations including organoleptic, testing pH, specific gravity, viscosity, and foam height and testing the effectiveness of liquid soap. The results showed that the extract yield was 6.5%. The results of the One-Way ANOVA data analysis on the antibacterial activity test showed that there were differences between the various treatments with a value of p=0.000 (p>0.05). The evaluation results of soap show that the three formulas meet SNI standards. And for the results of the LSD analysis, the data on the effectiveness of liquid soap preparations showed that the value of p=0.334 means that Formula 1 and 2 are not significant (p>0.05) and formulas 2 and 3 are significant with p=0.042 (p<0.05). The effectiveness of liquid soap from the peanut outer shell waste extract was influenced by the surfactant concentration.

Abstract

Sediaan krim selain stabil secara fisik dan memiliki efektivitas kelembaban yang bagus, harus melalui uji keamanan salah satunya yaitu uji iritasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada atau tidaknya efek iritasi yang ditimbulkan berupa eritema dan edema dari krim limbah air kokon ulat sutera konsentrasi 1%. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode uji tempel terbuka dan tertutup dengan 16 sukarelawan yang sebelumnya dioleskan krim liofilisat limbah air kokon ulat sutera dan basis pada lengan bagian atas, kemudian diamati selama 24, 48, dan 72 jam dan dihitung indeks iritasinya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa indeks iritasi yang diperoleh baik pada uji tempel terbuka dan uji tempel tertutup yaitu 0 yang menandakan bahwa tidak ada sukarelawan yang mengalami iritasi setelah pemakaian krim liofilisat limbah air kokon ulat sutera.

Abstract

Akar Temelekar (Coptosapelta tementosa Valeton ex. K. Heyne) diketahui mengandung senyawa steroid, flavonoid dan fenolik. Entitas dan kandungan senyawa bioaktif tumbuhan bervariasi bergantung pada jenis tanah dan iklim lokasi tempat tumbuhnya, yang dapat menyebabkan inkonsistensi dalam hal kualitas dan khasiatnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil metabolit ekstrak etanol akar temelekar yang diperoleh dari beberapa tempat tumbuh dengan menggunakan metode FTIR dan kemometrik. Sampel akar temelekar diperoleh dari 4 tempat berbeda di Pulau Kalimantan (Kuaro, Babulu, Lintang Jaya, Tanjung Batu). Akar temelekar diekstraksi menggunakan metode refluks dengan etanol 95% sebagai pelarut. Data hasil spektrum FTIR, diolah menggunakan program analisis kemometrik dengan data analisis statistik menggunakan program the unscramble 10 dan minitab versi 19. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa profil metabolit komponen senyawa akar temelekar dari beberapa tempat tumbuh memiliki perbedaan yang signifikan. Kesamaan variabel daerah Kuaro dan Babulu (kelompok 1) memiliki kemiripan 85,09%. Variabel daerah Lintang Jaya dengan variabel daerah kelompok 1 memiliki kemiripan 79,66% (kelompok 2). Variabel daerah Tanjung Batu dengan daerah kelompok 2 memiliki kemiripan 33,94% (kelompok 3). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa tempat tumbuh memberikan pengaruh dalam produksi senyawa metabolit dari akar temelekar.
