Abstract

Tofu liquid waste contains suspended and dissolved solids. Suspended solid may reduce sunlight penetrasion into the water so that it can affect the regeration of oxygen and photosynthesis.nin addition, deposition and decomposition of organic materials can reduce the quality of the water that would influence turbidity of the water. The problem formulation of this study was the effectiviness of additional tamarind seed powder in lowering the total suspended solid levels in tofu wastewater. This study is aimed at discovering the effectiviness of additional tamarind seed powder in lowering the total suspended solid levels in tofu wastewater, measuring the value of total suspended solid before and after added by the tamarind seed fowder, and measuring the dose effectivity of 300 mg/l, 400 mg/l, 500 mg/l, 600 mg/l and 700 mg/l of tamarind seed powder in lowering the total suspended solid levels in tofu wastewater.A quasi experimental design and one group pretest posttest design were carried out in this study. The samples were 30 tofu wastewater. The jartest was conducted at laboratory of Environmental Health Politechnique. While the saple was analyzed at Laboratory of Soil Quality and Health of Agriculture Faculty of Tanjungpura University.The study revealed that there was a meaningful reduction of total suspended solid level before and after the treatment. The value of total suspended solid level before the treatment was 2937,6 mg/l. while the total suspended solid level after the treatment decreased to 1401,6 mg/l. Hence, the optimum dose of tamarind seed powder in lowering total suspended solid levels in tofu wastewater was 600 mg/l with the effectivity level of 54,104%.Keywords : Tofu wastewater, tamarind seed powder, Total Suspended Solid

Abstract

Tuberculosis is not only a chronic infectious disease but also a public health problem. Pulmonary Tuberculosis spread through the droplets that come out when coughing, sneezing, and talking. The transmission of tuberculosis is strongly related to sanitary home environment, such as the condition of ventilation, the humidity and temperature of the floor, and occupancy density. The increase of the pulmonary tubercoluses cases can be seen from the data provided by the Health Care Units. The data showed that in 2011 there were 27 cases of pulmonary tuberculosis. In 2012, the cases reached 67 cases. Surprisingly, the cases of tuberculosis drastically increased to 367 cases.The study aimed at gathering the information on the risk factors of pulmonary tubercolusis cases at health care unit of Puskesmas Perum 2 Pontianak.Observational analytic and case control approach were carried out in this study. The total samples were 68 samples, consisted of cases and control group 1:1 or 34 :34. Then, each variable was tested by using chi square test.The study revealed that there were correlation of smoking habit (p value = 0,027; OR= 3,519), house sun exposure (p value = 0,028; OR= 3,429), ventilation (p value = 0,029; OR= 3,378), humidity (p value = 0,007;OR= 4,643), temperature (p value = 0,047; OR= 3,125), floor types (p value= 0,015; OR= 3,833), occupancy density (p value = 0,014;OR= 12,963), occupancy contact (p value = 0,008; OR= 4,400) and tubercolusis cases at health care unit of Puskesmas Perum 2 Pontianak.Keywords :occupation, smoking habit, occupancy contact, humidity, temperature, ventilation, house sun exposure, occupancy density, pulmonary tuberculosis.

Abstract

Food safety is an important thing in Sanitary Science. This is because our environment is always associated with the human food supply. Food problems are usually occurred due to the food exposure to dirty surroundings, causing foods contamination than can harm human health. This study aimed at discovering the correlation of personal hygiene, sanitation of food stall area and the number of germs in chicken satay in Pontianak. Using observational analytic and cross sectional design, this study employed 45 food stalls. The data collecting tools used were questionnaire, observation and interview. The data were statistically tested by using Chi-square test and alternative test of Fisher’s Exact. The Results of bivariate test indicated that there was correlation of personal hygiene (p value = 0.029), PR = 3,143 95% CI (0887-11,141) and the number of germs in chicken satay in Pontianak. The variables that didn’t correlate with the number of germs in chicken satay were food sanitation (p value = 0.345) and clean water source (p value = 0,751). From the findings, the satay sellers are encouraged to wash their hands with clean and running water before and after handling food, cut their nails and use clean water to wash and cook the food. Abstract

The percentages of the village-based healthy home at work area of Puskesmas Sungai Durian in 2012 encompassed a scope of 23032 houses. There have been 2303 houses (10%) inspected along this period. The total number of healthy homes are 1705 houses (74,03%) with 396 houses (78,57%) in Arang Limbung as the highest number of healthy homes. The lowest number of healthy homes are found in Desa Madu Sari with 62 houses (63,96%). The aim of this study was to find out an overview of the healthy home ownership at work work area of Puskesmas Sungai Durian Kabupaten Kubu Raya. This study was conducted by using descriptive method with univariate analysis as the technique of data collecting. The findings of the research taken from 100 respondents showed some compelling ideas. There were found 47,0% of ineligible ventilation condition and 53,0% of eligible ventilation condition. Subsequently, of 46.0% were found to be ineligible lighting at home and 54,0% for eligible lighting. The ineligible condition of humidity was 48,0%, and its eligible humidity was 52.0%. The problem of residential density issue emerged as there were found 33,0% ineligible residential density and 67,0% which fullfilled the eligibility of good residential density. The followings come closer to present that there were 84.0% of ineligible clean water and 16.0% of eligible clean water. The disposal of excreta was found to be 69.0% for its ineligibility and 31.0% for its eligibility. The disposal of wastewater also showed the highest percentege of its ineligibility with 74.0%; the eligibility was only 26.0%. The next issue of waste disposal showed the lowest percentage of the ineligibility among the preceded findings with 11.0% and 89,0% of its eligibility. Based on the findings, the local public health centers are encouraged to raise the awareness of the society concerning on the environmental issue particularly on the concept of healthy homes. One of which is how to improve knowledge and understanding in order to create a healthy home for their living.Keywords: ventilation, lighting, humidity, residential density, healthy home

Abstract

Persentase Rumah Sehat Menurut Desa di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Sungai Durian tahun 2012, seluruh rumah berjumlah 23032 rumah, jumlah yang diperiksa 2303 (10%). Jumlah yang sehat 1705 rumah (74,03%). tertinggi jumlah rumah yang sehat adalah desa Arang Limbung 396 (78,57%) dan terendah Desa Madu Sari 62 (65,96%). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran kepemilikan rumah sehat di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Sungai Durian Kabupaten Kubu Raya. Desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif. Teknik analisa data yang di pergunakan adalah analisa univariat. Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan terhadap 100 responden, diperoleh bahwa ventilasi yang tidak memenuhi syarat sebesar 47,0% dan memenuhi syarat sebesar 53,0%, pencahayaan yang tidak pemenuhi syarat sebesar 46,0% dan memenuhi syarat sebesar 54,0%, kelembaban yang tidak memenuhi syarat sebesar 48,0% dan memenuhi syarat sebesar 52,0%, kepadatan hunian yang tidak memenuhi syarat sebesar 33,0% dan memenuhi syarat sebesar 67,0%, air bersih yang tidak memenuhi syarat sebesar 84,0% dan memenuhi syarat sebesar 16,0%, pembuangan tinja yang tidak memenuhi syarat sebesar 69,0% dan memenuhi syarat sebesar 31,0%, responden pembuangan air limbah yang tidak memenuhi syarat sebesar 74,0% dan memenuhi syarat sebesar 26,0%, pembuangan sampah yang tidak memenuhi syarat sebesar 11,0% dan memenuhi syarat sebesar 89,0%. Diharapkan pihak puskesmas untuk dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat di bidang kesehatan lingkungan, khususnya tentang rumah sehat dan bagi masyarakat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman mengenai syarat-syarat rumah sehat

Abstract

Keamanan pangan merupakan hal yang penting dari ilmu sanitasi. Banyaknya lingkungan kita yang secara langsung maupun tidak langsung berhubungan dengan suplay makanan manusia. Masalah keamanan pangan biasanya terjadi karena produk terpapar dengan lingkungan yang kotor, sehingga pangan menjadi tercemar oleh bahan-bahan yang dapat membahayakan kesehatan manusia.Tujuan umum dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara personal hygiene dan sanitasi tempat dagang dengan angka kuman pada sate ayam di Kota Pontianak. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu Observasional Analitik menggunakan rancangan penelitian Cross Sectional. Sample dalam penelitian ini adalah pedagang sate ayam di Kota Pontianak sebanyak 45 tempat dagang. Pada penelitian ini alat ukur yang digunakan adalah kuesioner, observasi dan wawancara. Uji yang digunakan adalah uji Chi-square dan uji alternatif menggunakan uji Fisher’s Exact.Hasil analisis bivariat menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan antara personal hygiene (p value = 0,029), PR = 3,143 95% C1 (0,887 – 11,141) dengan angka kuman pada sate ayam di kota Pontianak, tidak ada hubungan antara sanitasi makanan dengan angka kuman pada sate ayam di kota Pontianak (p value = 0,345) dan tidak ada hubungan antara sumber air bersih dengan angka kuman pada sate ayam di kota Pontianak (p value = 0,751).Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini disarankan kepada seluruh pedagang sate untuk melakukan pencucian tangan menggunakan sabun dengan air yang mengalir sebelum dan sesudah menangani makanan, kuku dalam keadaan pendek, menggunakan sumber air bersih seperti air hujan dan PDAM dalam mencuci dan mengolah bahan makanan.

Abstract

Styrofoam is a syntheticaromatic polymer made from the monomer styrene. The use of improper food containers can result in the migration of monomer styrene into the food so that it can pose a significant risk of diseases such as headache, fatigue, depression, and anemia. The migration caused by the temperature, the duration of use, and the type of food. This study aimed at analyzing the factors related to the use of foam food containers among food-sellers in Kota Pontianak.Using analytic descriptive method and cross sectional design, as many as 52 samples participated in this study.The study revealed that as many as 51.9% food-sellers used Styrofoam as the food containers. There were no correlation of heat resistant, obtainability, affordability and the use of food foam containers.From the findings, the foo-sellers need to pay attention on the packaging feassibility. They are encouraged to find out the health standard of the foam food container as it contains of cmemical substances that easily and quickly switch to food in hot conditions.Keywords : Styrofoam, heat resistant, obtainability, affordability.

Abstract

To increase the toxicity of the plant pests, farmers often use pesticides inappropriately such as excessive doses, overspray frequency, and improper pesticides mixing. These mistakes can cause harmful impacts both for  human, and the environment. This study aimed at describing the pesticides use and its environmental effects at farming area in Desa Rasau jaya I, Rasau Jaya District. Using descriptive observation, as many as 34 farmers in Desa Rasau I  participated as the samples in this study. The data were collected by conducting interview, observation, and lab test. The instruments used were spectronic 20, observation sheet, and interview guides. The study revealed that there were pesticide residues found in 15 soil samples that exceeded the threshold of 0,01 mg/l. Otherwise, 19 water samples indicated that the pesticide levels were below the threshold of 0,01 mg/l. All farmers used insecticides, 51,5% farmers applied appropriate pesticide dose, 39,4% farmers applied 4 times of spraying from the nursery to the harvest, 100% farmers applied downwind spraying, and 100% farmers did not used PPE. From the findings, the farmers are encouraged to use 1 type of pesticide, apply appropriate dose, apply appropriate spraying frequency (1-2 times a week), and use complete PPE.Key words: pesticides, dose, spraying, water residue, land, farmers, Rasau Jaya, Kubu Raya

Abstract

Berdasarkan data Dinas Kesehatan Kota Pontianak kejadian kasus keracunan makanan pada tahun 2014 berjumlah 39 penderita dan pada tahun 2015 berjumlah 14  penderita. Kejadian keracunan dan penyakit bawaan makanan bisa disebabkan oleh berbagai faktor, diantaranya proses pengolahan makanan yang berpotensi terjadi kontaminasi dan fasilitas sanitasi yang tidak memenuhi syarat. Untuk mengetahui hubungan antara pengolahan makanan dan fasilitas sanitasi dengan angka kuman pada makanan di kantin Kampus Kota Pontianak. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasional analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional, sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 24 kantin (Total Sampling). Uji statistik yang digunakan adalah uji Chi Square dan uji alternatif menggunakan uji Fisher’s Exact. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan antara cara pengolahan (p value = 0,023) dengan anga kuman,  serta tidak ada hubungan antara higiene penjamah (p value = 0,393), tempat pengolahan (p value = 1,000), peralatan masak (p value = 0,182), air bersih (p value = 0,669), jamban (p value = 1,000), saluran limbah (p value = 1,000), tempat cuci tangan (p value = 1,000), tempat sampah (p value = 0,182), peralatan pencegahan masuknya serangga dan tikus (p value = 0,647) dengan angka kuman pada makanan (siap saji) di kantin Kampus Kota Pontianak Tahun 2017. Bagi pengelola kantin, diharapkan lebih dapat meningkatkan mutu pelayanan khususnya dalam higiene dan sanitasi makanan
