Abstract

Abstract: This descriptive research was conducted to find out the ability of the second year students of SMA Setia Dharma Pekanbaru in writing  narrative texts. The population of the study were 50 second year students of Social Science and Exact Science classes. The instrument for collecting the data was a written test. Based on the writing results, the students’ ability is in good level (68.1).

Abstract

Abstract: This research was descriptive analysis research. There were one variable used in this research. The variable X was the students? intonation ability in reading English story text. The subject of this research was the second semester of of English Study Program at FKIP Universitas Riau Pekanbaru, while the object of this research was Intonation Ability in Reading English Story Text. The instruments used in this research were reading story text. The population of the research was 60 students. Then, in taking the sample, the writer employed random sampling technique. To find out pronunciation ability the writer used formula through Wayan and P. P. N Arientina in Kunarsih for analyzing the data. The result of this research shows that the students in pronounciation 5 sentences got 10% category in very good level, 20% category in good level, 20% category in enough level, 40% category in less level, 10% category in fail level. Based on the analysis above, the students?intonation is in enough level, because most of the students were almost in the enough level. In conclusion, the students? ability in reading English story text of English Study Program of FKIP Universitas Riau is in the level of enough.Keywords: Intonation, pronunciation, short story text

Abstract

Abstract: The background of this study was firstly emerged from the data found by the researcher that the student’s ability in writing Japanese essays (Sakubun) was still lack. The lack of ability in writing Japanese essays (Sakubun) influences the student’s Japanese language mastery level. The aim of this study is to find out the difference of student’s ability in writing Japanese essays (Sakubun) after implementing Mind Mapping method. The research method of this study was quasi experiment with one group before after or pretest and post-test group design. The sample technique used was total random sampling. The study was done by conducting pretest to know the student’s prior ability, then giving treatments in the experiment class, and the last giving post-test to know the student’s ability. Based on the data analysis, the result was sig 14,36 > 5,04. It means that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that Mind Mapping method is effective in learning of Japanese essays (Sakubun) on the third-level students of Japanese Education Department Faculty of Teacher’s Training and Education Riau University.Keywords: Sakubun, writing skill, Mind Mapping Method

Abstract

Abstract: This descriptive research aimed to find out the ability of the first grade students of SMAN 1 Simpang Kanan Rokan Hilir in Reading Comprehension. The population of the research is the first grade students of SMAN 1 Simpang Kanan and the sample is 32 students. The instrument used in this research is a reading test. This reading test consisted of 35 questions . Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that the ability of the first grade students of SMAN 1 Simpang Kanan Rokan Hilir in reading comprehension is in good level with mean score is 63.14. Further, the result shows that there are 2 students who are in excellent level, 18 students are in good level, 8 students are in average level, and 4 students are in poor level.Key Words: Students’ Ability, Reading Comprehension

Abstract

Abstract: This correlational study is aimed to find out the correlation between reading motivation and reading comprehension of the third year students of SMPN 12 Pekanbaru. The sample was chosen by using cluster random sampling as many as 39 students. The instrument used in this study was questionnaire and test; reading motivation questionnaire and reading comprehension test. Reading motivation questionnaire is used to know the students’ reading motivation while reading comprehension test is used to find out the students’ ability in understanding a text. The obtained data were assessed by using Product Moment’s formula and analyzed by using SPSS 21.0 for windows. Based on the data analysis, it shows that there is moderate, significant and positive correlation between grammar mastery and reading comprehension of the third year students of SMPN 12 Pekanbaru. Therefore, it answered the research question that there is a correlation between reading motivation and reading comprehension.Key words: correlation, reading motivation, reading comprehension

Abstract

Abstract: This research discusses about the application of Make a Match method in the 5th semester of Japan study program students in Kaiwa subject. The aim of this study was to describe the effectiveness of Make a Match method in improving students Japan study program’s learning outcomes. For this study, the writer used weak experiment research design that was marked by not given a comparison class. The data collection technique that used by giving a test. The result on the Pre-test and Post-test has improvement. The average of students’ Pre-test was 70, while the average of students’ Post-test was 80. The result of the test was processed using T- statistical tests to find out how significant the level of students’ learning outcomes when using Make a Match method. Based on the table output ‘One Sample Test’ above, known sig value is 0.696 < 0.05, then according with the basis of decision making, it could be concluded that Ho was accepted and H1 was rejected. It means that there is significant influences on the use of Make a Match method. This method is effective in improving students learning outcomes in Japan Study Program; Faculty of Education at the University of Riau in Kaiwa Subject.Keywords: effectiveness, Make a Match method, Kaiwa, Japanese language

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to investigate to what extent the English teachers of public junior high schools in Tampan Sub-District Pekanbaru have used ICT and identify the barriers they face in the use of ICT in their teaching process. The researchers selected 16 English teachers as the sample using total sampling method. This research applied a mixed-method, combining quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection. The quantitative data were collected by distributing a set of questionnaires. The indicators of the questionnaire used are Perceived Usefulness and Perceived Ease of Use. The qualitative were acquired through semi-structured interviews. The combination of the two types of data was chosen to get more information to support the data. The findings show that teachers have integrated ICT in their teaching process was in good category level. This can be seen from the result of the study in which the overall mean score calculated was 3.67. Still, teachers faced some problems in its integration. In general, the problems related to lack of ICT facilities and electricity issues.Key Words: ICT, English Teachers’ perception, teaching and learning process.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to produce a product in the form of an android-based learning media for learning Japanese vocabulary. Thatbe done at Riau University. This study is a research and development project. The development model used is (1)Potetial problem, (2) Collecting data, (3) Product Desain, (4) Product development, (5) Product revision by supervisor, (6) Product validation,(7) Product revision by material expert and media expert(8) Product test that modified from Sugiyono’s research model. This researcg that be done at Riau University with the subject is active student 3rdgrade in Japanese language study program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Riau University.. The product feasibility testing stage will be done by two expert, that is material expert and media expert. The course participant also testing the product as user. Data collection techniques used a questionnaires, and descriptive analysis for data analysis.The results of study showed that the interactive multimedia was eligible to be implemented as learning media for3rdgrade student in Japanese language study program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Riau University.By material expert, the media get an average score 82.5% that means the media is valid to be used for learning process. By media expert, the media get an average score 88.5% that means the media is valid to be used for learning process. And also, product test toward users have been done, that the media get an average score 82.6% that means the media is valid to be used for learning process.KeyWords: Research&Development, Sugyono method, Descrptive amalysis

Abstract: This study describes and explains the ability of 2018 students of the Japanese language education program FKIP UNRI in determining the contents of the description text. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of 2018 students in determining the contents of the description text. In this study the authors used a descriptive research method by using a quantitative approach. Test processed using Microsoft Excel. Test results in class 2018 acquired the average student’s ability to determine the content of the description text by 74,28 and an average percent is 70,6%. That value falls into a good category because it’s in the 71-90 range. Thus, the ability of 2018 students of the Japanese language education program FKIP UNRI to determine the contents of the description text is good.Key Words: Description Text, Dokkai
