Abstract

Abstract Students in the agroecosystem area are generally less active because the teacher does not utilize the potential of the surrounding agroecosystem. This can be overcome by applying Brain-Based Learning (BBL) approach combined with AT collaborative learning model. This study aimed to produce Analytic Team learning model based on Brain-Based Leaning (AT-BBL) that is valid, practical, and effective, and also improves the students' critical thinking skills and learning outcomes. This study used R&D with 4D development model which only carried out three stages, namely define, design, and development without using the disseminate stage. The average validation is 86.98 (highly valid). The average percentage of teacher responses is 92.94%, and the average percentage of student responses is 91.22% which is very practical. Abstract

Teachers as educators must be able to plan and manage learning and create a learning environment that is comfortable and attractive, so students interest to be actively involved in the learning process. High interest and actively involvement of students in the learning process will help students understand the material being studied and will be able to improve learning outcomes. The implementation of cooperative learning model examples non examples can be applied in the process of learning science Biology in material damage and environmental pollution to increase interest, activities, and learning outcomes Biological Science VIIA grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Nganjuk. The research method used is a CAR (Classroom Action Research) with the researcher asa teacher educator. Results obtained from the study is an increase in interest from 72.50% to pre-cycle of 82.67% in the post-cycle with high criteria. Learning activities also increased from 71.76% pre-cycle, and 83.58% in the post-cycle with high activity criteria. Interest and learning activities that increase was followed by an increasing in student learning outcomes initially studied classical completeness only 62.16% to 78.38% in the post-cycle. The results obtained show that the implementation of cooperative learning model examples non examples can increase interest, activities, and student learning outcomes in the class VIIA SMP Negeri 3 Nganjuk. Abstract

Some types of Anura have a narrow range of environmental parameters, so they can’t survive in environments where natural conditions change dramatically. Therefore, Anura has the potential to be a good environmental bioindicator. The purpose of this research is to identify the types of Anura found at University of Jember. This research is included in the survey research using direct observation method VES (Visual Encounter Survey). Observations were made of adult members of the Anura Order. Data taken includes species characteristics, abiotic factors such as temperature and humidity, and activity when found. The results showed at Jember University there were 4 species from 3 family members of the Anura order, namely Duttaphrynus melanostictus Schneider, 1799 (Bufonidae), Polypedates leucomystax Gravenhorst, 1829 (Rhacophoridae), Fejervarya limnocharis Gravenhorst, 1829 (Dicroglossidae), and Occidozyga sumatrana Peters, 1877 (Dicroglossidae). The species most commonly found is Duttaphrynus melanostictus which is found in almost every observation location. Environmental factors that support the existence of Anura members in that location are temperature and humidity, and environmental conditions.

Abstract

The 21st -century learning demands students’ that have critical thinking skills. The learning model of Brain-Based Learning (BBL), combined with the approach of Problem-Based Learning (PBL), is an alternative model that adjusts the critical thinking skils. The objective of this research was to generate a valid, practical, and effective BBL-PBL learning model. This research was research and development using the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, develop, implement, and evaluate. The study was implemented on the tenth-grade students of Rambipuji Senior High School, Jember, Indonesia, in the academic year of 2019/2020. The data collection techniques used were validation of products and test methods, interviews with the teachers, the questionnaire responses of teachers and students, and class observations. The results of the validity of the product were 91.4% as very valid category. The results of the cognitive model’s effectivenest were of 0.81 as high category, the psychomotor aspects were 82 as fair category, and the critical thinking skills were of 85 as excellent category. The practicality results were obtained from the questionnaire responses of the teachers and the students, respectively by 91.2% and 86% which are both excellent categories.

Abstract

Grayak caterpillar is insect pests that become pests of various food crops. Grayak caterpillars cause a decrease in crop productivity and even crop failure if they are not controlled. Pest control using chemical pesticides has many adverse effects on the environment. To minimize the occurrence of environmental damage, then it is used pest control using vegetable insecticides. Bintaro Leaf (Cerbera odollam Gaertn.) is potential as a vegetable insecticide. The purpose of this study was to examine the toxicity of granule from Bintaro leaf extract (C. odollam Gaertn.) on armyworms (S. litura Fab.). This research was a laboratory experimental research using Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Serial concentrations used in this study were 0% (control), 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%, and 2.5%. The results of this study showed that the granules of Bintaro leaf extract (C. odollam Gaertn.) were effective in causing mortality of armyworms (S. litura Fab.) at 1.5% concentration by 60% and included in toxic category. The value of LC50-48 hour granule from Bintaro leaf extract (C. odollam Gaertn) was 1.41%. Keywords: Spodoptera litura Fab. , Granula extract of Cerbera odollam Gaertn., Vegetable Insecticide.

Abstract

Flipbook is organization of learning materials containing text, sound, animation, and video. This research aimed to produce a learning materials in the form of flipbook, especially on subject of animal’s growth and development for science class grade XII. The flipbook produced should be valid, effective and practical for use in learning process. Flipbook is a 2 dimensional application that is reliable and lightweight. This study used 3 stages from 4 dimensional model which are define, design and develop. The implementation of the developed product was planned by 2 different tests, the first was limited testing and second was field trial. All tests implemented in 44 students of 12 IPA SMA Budi Utomo Sidoarjo. The results showed that 1) an average score of 81.43 gained from 3 different experts which falls into a very valid category, 2) field trial got an average score of 88.46 also falls into very valid category, 3) pre-test, post-test 1 and post-test 2 got normalized gain score at 0.78 which meant that the improvement of learning outcomes after using Flipbook was very high, 4) the effeciency based on the students' response was 97.72% which was interpreted in very good category. It can be concluded that the developed Flipbook was easy and feasible to use in learning. Keywords: Flipbook, validity, effectiveness, practicality result, research and development

Abstract

Armyworm (Spodoptera litura F.) is a leaf-eating pest causes the loss of crops from 85% until causing crop failure. Alternative pest control and to reduce the negative impact of synthetic pesticides include using botanical pesticide. Getih-getihan plant (Rivina humilis L.) is one of the plants having potency as a botanical pesticide. Based on the description, this study was conducted to determine LC50 value by using probit analysis and analysis of an extract of Rivina humilis L. leaves on the mortality of Spodoptera litura F. using ANOVA test. Rivina humilis L. leaves are extracted by using ethanol solvent to get active chemical to kill Spodoptera litura F.. TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography) result test of an extract of Rivina humilis L. are positively contain an alkaloid, flavonoid, tannin, and terpenoid. The method of the research uses CRD (Complete Random Design) with five times repetition. Concentration serial being tested are 0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%, and 2.5%. The result of probit analysis is 1.42% of LC50 value and ANOVA test shows that extract of Rivina humilis L. leaves affects very significantly on the Spodoptera litura F. mortality (p=0.000). Abstract

Biology learning by playing, especially using cocoon finger puppet role-playing, is fundamental for students. The article is aimed to know how brain-based learning role-playing by using finger puppet cocoon can increase the student’s enthusiasm and learning outcomes in biology. The research occupied two-cycle lesson study. The datawere collected by using observation sheet and video recording of the learning activities in the classroom. The result showed that brain-based learning role-playing by using cocoon finger puppet enhanced the students' enthusiasm, excitement and learning outcomes. Abstract

Agroecosystem plays an important role in the national economy. However, the role of agroecosystem in education in the form of teaching and learning has not been used optimally. It is less in providing opportunities for students to develop their mindset based on their abilities so that the students do not understand the potential requiring the surrounding area. Learning models that can provide opportunities for students to develop are suitable with the 2013 curriculum. Modification of collaborative learning Cells with Brain-Based Learning (BBL LC) model makes the learning appropriate for the 2013 curriculum. The purpose is to obtain a valid, effective, and practical model which is suitable for the junior high school science learning in the agroecosystem area. The research type is development research (R & D) by using the 4-D model but, only use three stages; Define, Design, and Develop stages without using Disseminate stage. This research was conducted at Junior High School 7 Jember. The data collection techniques were filling out the validation sheet, interview, observation, test, and documentation. The data analysis techniques include data analysis from the validation results, model analysis, and model effectiveness analysis. The model validity was the average results of the product validation (85.81%) in a very valid category. The model effectiveness was the average of¬N-gain learning outcomes (0.53) and students' problem-solving skill questionnaires (75.87% ) in a good category. The model practicality was from the teacher and student response questionnaires with an average of about 92.94% and 94% which belongs to a very practical category.

Abstract

Course Review Horay (CRH) learning model based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is a cooperative learning model that provides many questions to encourage active learning and critical thinking ability of students. Cards of CRH contain 9 or 16 or 25 columns to write down the students' answers. If they answer three questions correctly as vertical/horizontal/diagonally they would shout “horay”. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of CRH learning model based on PBL approach on the students’ critical thinking skill and learning outcome for the eleventh-grade science students of SMA Arjasa Jember. There were used control class and experimental class. The results showed that learning model of CRH based on PBL approach had increased the students’ critical thinking skill (p = 0.000) aswell as significantly increased the students’ learning outcome of cognitive, affective and psychomotor.
