Abstract

Proses pematangan pada buah ditandai dengan adanya perubahan karakteristik buah meliputi warna, aroma, tekstur dan rasa. Perubahan karakteristik buah tersebut salah satunya dipengaruhi oleh bakteri endofit yang dapat hidup berasosiasi dalam jaringan tanaman yang mampu menghasilkan enzim dan hormon tertentu sehingga dapat mengubah sifat kimia yang akan mempengaruhi sifat fisik suatu  buah. Penelitian mengenai bakteri endofit pada buah telah banyak dilakukan, namun bakteri endofit pada buah nanas belum diidentifikasi. Buah nanas kultivar Simadu dan Biasa merupakan buah nanas yang banyak dikonsumsi masyarakat dan diolah sebagai bahan baku industri makanan yang berasal dari Kabupaten Subang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keragaman jenis bakteri endofit pada kultivar nanas Simadu dan Biasa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode deskriptif dan Identifikasi bakteri dengan menggunakan karakterisasi morfologi, pewarnaan Gram dan uji biokimiawi. Isolasi bakteri dari kedua kultivar dilakukan dengan teknik pengenceran, yaitu pada seri pengenceran ke- 10-2, 10-3, dan 10-4. Bakteri-bakteri yang ditemukan pada kultivar Simadu diduga mempunyai kemiripan dengan jenis Bacillus sp, Pseudomonas sp, Enterobacter sp, Pediococcus sp, Acinetobacter sp, Lactobacillus sp, Gluconobacter sp dan Acetobacter sp. Sedangkan pada kultivar Biasa ditemukan bakteri yang diduga mempunyai kemiripan dengan jenis Bacillus sp, Pseudomonas sp, Enterobacter sp, Pediococcus sp, Acetobacter sp dan Micrococcus sp. Perbedaan keragaman bakteri pada kedua kultivar tersebut diikuti dengan perbedaan hasil uji organoleptik bahwa warna, rasa, aroma dan tekstur pada nanas Simadu lebih baik dibandingkan dengan nanas Biasa. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan bakteri endofit yang terdapat pada setiap kultivar diduga mempengaruhi karakteristik buah nanas (warna, rasa, aroma dan tekstur). Kata kunci : Nanas, Bakteri Endofit, Karakteristik buah

Abstract

A serius effort to reach students aspects of content, syntactically and substantively, will not be achieved without being accompanied by the knowledge of teaching strategies adopted appropriate by the teachers. Teachers should understand and be able to integrate content knowledge into knowledge about the curriculum, learning, and especially students. Such knowledge is expressed as Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK). To identify and assess developments of their PCK, a teacher needs a rich conceptual understanding as well as integrate with expertise in using teaching procedures, strategies and approaches, to be implemented in the classroom. PCK is considered as a strategic answer for transforming of content/subject matter into a form of presentation in the classroom. Because of PCK is one of the main components in teaching, to produce qualified teachers, equip ability PCK becomes a crucial thing to be done by the teacher-producing institutions. This is due to the PCK is important in improving teaching and learning process which aims to provide [a] better understanding of students. PCK is as important as knowledge about subject matter which is used as the subject of any learning process. Without PCK, the process of transformation of a subject matter in the effort to construct students knowledge, will not take place very well.Keywords: pedagogical content knowledge (PCK), learning, content knowledge, teaching and learning process.

Abstract

The lower of awareness, motivation, and self regulation students’ on learning is a major concern in science education. The purpose of this research is to analyze the effects of self-efficacy beliefs and metacognitive on academic performance among high school students based on gender on Genetic concept that include sub-concepts: Genetic Mendel, Heredity, and Mutation. Descriptive method is constructed this study. A total of 60 students XII grader of high school are participated in the study. Data were collected by Self-efficacy and Metacognitive Questionnaire, Genetic Concept Test, and Final Questionnaire.  Data were analyzed using inferential statistics, regression. Regression analysis indicated that self-efficacy and metacognitive was a strong predictor of academic performance. This case are showed by the value of regression, R = 0.612 so that self-efficacy and metacognitive were inferred was a strong predictor of academic performance. The other finding on this research show that male students are outperforming female students on self-efficacy, metacognitive, and academic performance, so that can be conducted a further research about how to increase level of self-efficacy and metacognitive on female students.

Abstract

Kreativitas merupakan bagian berpikir kritis-kreatif yang penting dalam pembelajaran. Pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri menggunakan Levels of Inquiry (LOI) diterapkan untuk mendukung aspek kreativitas siswa yang dinilai melalui penilaian atau asesmen kinerja pada materi sistem pernapasan. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengidentifikasi kreativitas siswa SMA dalam pembelajaran Levels of Inquiry (LOI) dengan penerapan asesmen kinerja pada materi sistem pernapasan. Penelitian yang dilakukan adalah deskriptif dengan sampel 30 siswa secara cluster random sampling. Instrumen penelitian adalah instrumen asesmen kinerja (utama) dan tes kreativitas gambar (pendukung). Indikator kreativitas adalah fluency, elaboration dan originality yang mengacu Torrance (1977). Asesmen kinerja mencakup discovery learning, interactive demonstration, inquiry lesson, dan inquiry laboratory yang dillaksanakan dalam 2 pertemuan. Asesmen menilai kreativitas siswa (secara kelompok) dalam melakukan kegiatan LKPD dan produk sebagai tugas individu di akhir pembelajaran. Kriteria ketercapaian kreativitas dianalisis dalam persentase menggunakan tingkat penguasaan dari Purwanto (2006) dengan kategori dari NRC (2011). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kreativitas siswa dapat teridentifikasi menggunakan asesmen kinerja dan dapat diterapkan pada pembelajaran LOI dengan persentase tertinggi indikator elaboration dan originality. Pembelajaran menggunakan LOI dapat digunakan untuk mengembangkan kreativitas siswa SMA, ditunjukkan dari persentase indikator di atas 60% (kegiatan kelompok pertemuan II dan tugas individu) dengan kategori cukup atau emerging (kreativitas telah muncul). Creativity is an important creative-critical thinking part of learning. Inquiry-based learning using the Levels of Inquiry (LOI) is applied to support student’s creativity that is assessed through performance assessment on respiratory system material. The research objective was to identify the creativity of high school students in learning Levels of Inquiry (LOI) by applying performance assessment on respiratory system material. The conducted research was descriptive with a sample of 30 students using cluster random sampling. The research instruments were the performance assessment instrument (main) and the image creativity test (supporting). The indicators of creativity were fluency, elaboration and originality which refer to Torrance (1977). The performance assessment included discovery learning, interactive demonstration, inquiry lesson, and laboratory inquiry which was carried out in 2 meetings. The assessment assessed students' creativity (as a group) in carrying out LKPD activities and product as individual assignment at the end of the lesson. Criteria for creativity achievement were analyzed in percentage using the level of Purwanto (2006) with the category of NRC (2011). The results showed that students' creativity could be identified using performance assessment and could be applied to LOI learning with the highest percentage of elaboration and originality indicators. Learning using LOI could be used to develop the creativity of high school students, as indicated by the percentage of indicators above 60% (group activities in meeting II and individual assignment) with emerging category (creativity has emerged).

Abstract

The implementation of peer and self assessment has become one of the alternative in doing the product of performance assessment. The research aims to describe student’s ability using peer dan self assessment as standard performance assessment on regulation system in senior high school students. Hopefully, the peer assessment can refer to the peer and self assessment. The research applied descriptive method which involved 25 student of the XI grade senior high school. The research instruments were research were the implementation research form, online form and rubric peer assessment, online self-assessment and student response questionnaire and teacher assessment. Peer assessment was implemented by students in groups and compared to teacher’s assessment. The result showed that the implementation of peer and self assessment was great. The student’s ability in doing peer and self assessment was great too, which means that peer and self assessment can be a standard of performance assessment. The comparation of the students’ assessment and teacher assessment show the similarity with percentage 84%. The type of feedback that many students gave was C1 type (Direction correction). Student respons of implementation peer and self assessment was great and they felt helpful by implementation of peer and self assessment.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the effectiveness of concept maps as learning strategy and as an evaluation tools to assess students’ mastery of concepts. The sample in this study was students of grade IX in one of Junior High School in Bandung by using Pretest-Posttest Randomized Control Group Design. The subject learned was excretory system. In experimental group, the students were taught by using concept map strategy, whereas the students in control group were taught by using elaboration strategy that is taking notes. The method used in both classes were lecture and discussion. The effectiveness of concept map as a learning strategy was measured by using N-Gain value. Meanwhile, the effectiveness of concept map as an evaluation tool to assess students’ concepts mastery was seen from the relationship between students’ score in multiple-choice evaluation and the score of concept map evaluation based on class clasification from multiple choice score: upper class, middle class, and lower class. The result shows that the N-Gain in experimental group (0,73) is greater than N-Gain in control group (0,62). The effectiveness of concept maps as an evaluation tool is quite effective because otherwise the results showed that students' grades multiple-choice acquisition value is directly proportional to students in making a concept map. It can be conclude that concept maps can be used as a learning strategy as well as an evaluation tool. Keywords: concept map, learning strategy, evaluation tools, concept mastery, excretory system

Abstract

Perkembangan science dan teknologi yang cepat menjadikan bioteknologi menjadi salah satu ilmu/pengetahuan yang harus dikuasai oleh warga negara Indonesia, karena disamping sangat berkaitan erat dengan kehidupan sehari-hari (daily life) juga sangat berhubungan dengan aspek ‘life skill’. Guna memberikan penekanan dan kebermaknaan tentang bioteknologi kepada siswa, guru dituntut untuk menciptakan pembelajaran yang benar dan dengan cara memberikan pemahaman yang benar pula pada siswanya. Bioteknologi merupakan salah satu topik yang dianggap sulit karena untuk memperoleh pemahaman yang benar dibutuhkan pengusaan konsep-konsep dasar yang seringkali bersifat abstrak. Lesson Study (LS) yaitu suatu model pembinaan profesi pendidik melalui pengkajian pembelajaran secara kolaboratif dan berkelanjutan berlandaskan prinsip-prinsip kolegalitas dan mutual learning untuk membangun ‘learning community’. Lesson Study dilaksanakan dalam tiga tahapan yaitu Plan (merencanakan), Do (melaksanakan), dan See (merefleksi) yang berkelanjutan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: mengobservasi dan memperoleh informasi tentang bagaimana usaha guru dan proses yang dilakukan guru dalam perencanaan, melaksanakan dan mengevaluasi secara sederhana pada konsep bioteknologi melalui metode eksperimen/praktikum di SMP. Observasi dilakukan terhadap seorang guru dan 33 siswa IX SMP I Pamulihan Kabupaten Sumedang. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian menggunakan teknik: observasi terhadap aktivitas planing, pelaksanaan proses, dokumentasi bahan ajar (,renpel,silabus dan LKS) dan dokumentasi pelaksanaan pembelajaran,menjaring pendapat guru dan mengikuti kegiatan refleksi yang dilaksanakan setelah proses pembelajaran untuk mencatat tanggapan guru model, kepala sekolah dan para observer dalam implementasi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi sebagai suatu kesatuan dalam strategi pembelajaran bioteknologi di SMP I Pamulihan dengan menggunakan metode praktikum/experiment cukup baik dilakukan oleh guru model. Kendala utama yang dihadapi guru dalam meliputi alokasi waktu, disamping kurangnya buku sumber dan kondisi siswa. Guru dan siswa merasa sangat suka dengan metode yang digunakan tetapi belum terlalu memberi dampak yang berarti pada peningkatan hasil belajar. Masih diperlukan upaya yang lebih keras untuk memperbaiki proses pembelajaran di kelas untuk menyiapkan calon guru dalam membelajarkan Bioteknologi

Abstract

Catharanthus roseous (L).G.Don merupakan tanaman yang dapat dijadikan tanaman hias dan tanaman obat. Saat ini C. roseous mulai diperbanyak melalui teknik kultur jaringan secara langsung maupun tak langsung, melalui jalur organogenesis dan embriogenesis somatik. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan mengamati anatomi kalus C. roseous yang sedang bermorfogenesis. Daun C. roseous dengan urutan daun pertama sampai ketiga digunakan sebagai eksplan dan ditanam pada medium Murashige dan Skoog dengan penambahan zat pengatur tumbuh berupa 2,4–D dengan konsentrasi 10-5 M dan kinetin 10-6 M untuk menginduksi terbentuknya kalus. Setelah berusia 2 bulan, kalus hasil induksi disubkultur pada medium MS dengan penambahan NAA dan kinetin masing-masing 2.10-5 M dan 5.10-5 M. Selanjutnya dilakukan pengamatan morfologi dan anatomi terhadap kalus hasil subkultur yang berumur 0,24, 28, 32 dan 36 hari. Pengamatan anatomi dilakukan dengan metode paraffin. Pada pengamatan morfologi diketahui bahwa tunas terbentuk pada hari ke 28 subkultur, diawali dengan pembentukan nodul berwarna hijau. Nodul berwarna putih yang kemungkinan merupakan sel embriogenik juga ditemukan pada kalus dengan usia subkultur 36 hari. Pada pengamatan anatomi diketahui bahwa jaringan kalus tidak homogen, terdiri dari sel meristematis, sel parenkim dan ditemukan pula elemen trakheal. Pembentukan tunas diawali oleh pembelahan sel pada area meristematik yang membentuk meristemoid dan kemudian berkembang menjadi kubah meristem yang dapat membentuk primordial daun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pembentukan embriogenesis somatik yang ditunjukan dengan ditemukannya massa sel yang menyerupai fase globular, massa sel fase jantung, dan tahap kotiledon.

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to analyze the application of visual representations using comics as an effort to improve student’s critical thinking skills and mastery of concepts in nervous system material. The subject of this study is second grade-students in Senior High School. The method used in this research is Quasi experimental. The results of student’s critical thinking skills have increased higher in the experimental class, although the results of the critical thinking skills of the two classes are in the moderate category, the results of critical thinking in the experimental class showed that the increase in N-Gain was higher with N-Gain = 0.64 (medium category) while N-Gain in the control class = 0.53 (medium category). The results mastery of concepts in experimental class have n-gain is higher the n-gain control class with n-gain is 0.71 (high category), and the control class n-gain is 0.53 (medium category). The results of student responses showed that the majority of students were interested in using comic visual representations of 83.33%. Therefore it can be concluded that the use of comics can improve thinking skills and mastery of concepts better.
