Abstract

In this research, modified PWM has been applied to the multilevel inverter (MLI) single-phase three-level diode clamp full bridge. Modified PWM is performed to produce minimum Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) the voltage because the quality of the good voltage is indicated by small THD. The THD indicates the quality of AC voltage source. The THD standard by the IEEE STD 519-1992 Harmonic Voltage Limits is 5% and the Pacific Corp standard is 8%, if the THD value is greater than the THD standard it can cause the electronic load to be damaged due to the damaged waveform. Modified PWM is applied by adding a 50 Hz sinusoidal reference signal with a sinusoidal signal which has a certain amplitude, frequency and phase shift angle. The frequency of the adder signal is the frequency at which the value of the individual harmonic voltage appears (n harmonic). To get maximum result, optimization using Genetic Algorithm (GA) method to determinate amplitude & phase shift angle done. The result of implementation hardware with modified PWM shows smaller THD voltage compared to the THD voltage with Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) switching up to 0.19 or decrease 65,51 % for modified PWM of harmonic injection n = 7 with GA optimization ma= 0.8 (A=0.0936 and ø = 0 rad) and up to 0.08 or decrease 12,30 % for modified PWM of harmonic injection n = 22 with GA optimization ma = 0.4 (A=0.1221 and ø = 0 rad).

Abstract

This paper propose about using PID control system based on Kp, Ki, and Kd parameter determination with scheduling process from fuzzy logic. Control system is used to arrange speed of three phase induction motor using IFOC method. This method can be minimized the main problem from speed control of induction motor which is a transient condition. The robustness validation from this system use testing process of dynamic speed which is compared with the other control system to know the system performance in transient condition such as (rise time, overshoot, undershoot and settling time). The result shows using the proposed system has better performance responses which is requiring 0.001 seconds time in transient condition up to steady state condition without overshoot and undershoot problem.

Abstract

Renewable energy sources require an energy storage system because its are fluctuating and electricity producing at certain times, even sometimes not in accordance with the needs of the load. To maintain continuity of electricity, smart battery energy storage system is needed. Therefore, this paper of a full-bridge bidirectional DC-DC Converter (FB-BDC) with Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC) is designed and implemented for battery energy storage application. The FLC has error and delta error of voltage level as input and duty cycle of FB-BDC as output. The FB-BDC is controlled by a microcontroller ARM Cortex-M4F STM32F407VG for voltage mode control. The FB-BDC topology is selected becuase battery storage system needed isolated and need high voltage ratio both for step-up and step-down. The main purpose of FB-BDC to perform bidirectional energy transfer both of DC-Bus and battery. Moreover, FB-BDC controls the DC-Bus voltage according to referenced value. The power flow and voltage on DC-Bus is controlled by FLC with voltage mode control. The experiment result shows the ability of FLC  voltage mode control to control FB-BDC on regulate charging voltage with an error 1% and sharing voltage 1.5% form referenced value.

Abstract

Kata kunci: mutilevel inverter, pengendali PI, feedforward, beban non-linier ABSTRACTA multilevel inverter power converter is expected to be able to supply ideal AC voltage in linear and nonlinear load conditions. It is expected that the control method is be able to respond quickly and be able to maintain the waveform of the inverter output AC voltage. PI + feedforward controller is proposed in this paper. This controller will be tested with linear and nonlinear loads. Nonlinear load is a rectifier circuit with a filter capacitor. Abstract

This paper presents a design and implementation of a converter which has a high power factor for battery charger application. The converter is a combination of a SEPIC converter and a full-bridge DC-DC converter connected in two stages of series circuit. The SEPIC converter works in discontinuous conduction mode and it serves as a power factor corrector so that the shape of input current waveform follows the shape of input voltage waveform. The full-bridge DC-DC converter serves as a regulator of output voltage and operates at continuous conduction mode. The experimental results show that the power factor of this converter system can be achieved up to 0.96.

Abstract

In inverter design, harmonic voltage is the main issue which affects the performance of the inverter. Generally, the harmonic minimization problem complexity is influenced by the number of harmonic orders to be minimized. This paper presents the utilization of genetic algorithm (GA) to solve harmonic minimization problem in multilevel inverter. The objective is to find relationship between the number of minimized harmonic orders and the results of total harmonic distortion (THD). The inverter to investigate is 11-level, but it is also applicable to multilevel inverters with any number of levels. The results show that harmonic contained in the output voltage has a small dependence on the number of harmonic orders that are minimized. However, the best results are still satisfied even though involving higher number of harmonics. The best-obtained THD, evaluated until 19th harmonic, is 2.76%, which is fairly low and thus acceptable. Keywords : Harmonic, genetic algorithm, multilevel inverter and optimization.
