Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of student readiness in online class on learning motivation. The population in this study were all 4th semester students with a sample of 80 students who were taken purposively. This research was conducted at Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) in Yogyakarta. The time of this research was carried out for four months, namely from March to June 2021. The method used in this study was quantitative with a survey research design. The results of this study explain that the UAD PGSD Department students are ready to participate in online science learning during this pandemic, but it still has an impact on their enthusiasm or motivation to learn so that improvements are still needed from all parties to create a better online learning atmosphere. Improvements that can be made are in the form of providing online training or workshops for lecturers and students, improving e-learning management, providing education and motivation from lecturers to students regarding the positive side of e-learning, as well as increasing lecturer innovation so that e-learning implemented is more attractive to students. In addition, in the implementation of online-based learning, it is necessary to pay attention to the principles of learning, both for content and other activities prepared for online learning must be able to represent learning in the classroom, so that it becomes a challenge for lecturers in preparing online learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a natural science supplement book based on local wisdom in thematic-integrative learning in the fourth grade of elementary schools. This study uses Research and Development of the Dick and Carey model. The research data were obtained through observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The results of the feasibility of a local wisdom-based science supplement book were obtained through a product assessment questionnaire for material experts, media experts, linguists, and classroom teachers. While the trial results were obtained through a response questionnaire given to 58 fourth-grade elementary school students. The results of the validators show that the science supplement book is very feasible from the assessment of the material aspects with an average of 86.33%, the media aspect is also considered very feasible with an average of 91.63%, while the language aspect is considered feasible with an average of 76.67%. The results obtained from practitioners also get very feasible criteria with an average of 87.06%. The results of small-scale trials obtained an average of 100% and the results of large-scale trials obtained an average of 97,08% with very good criteria. Based on these results, the local wisdom-based science supplement book is very suitable for fourth-grade elementary school teachers in thematic-integrative learning.

Abstract

The development of technology makes learning media have an essential function for the learning process conducted by the teacher to students. However, in reality, there are still many teachers who have not yet implemented the development of learning media to support the learning program. The purpose of this study is to describe the challenges and problems that occur in the development of learning media to improve critical thinking skills and character. This study examines how the challenges of teachers in developing learning media to improve students' critical thinking skills and character. The method was in the form of qualitative data (phenomenology). Data were collected by conducting interviews and observations on nine teachers from 3 public elementary schools in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Based on research, it conducted that students' critical thinking skills and character will increase if the teacher can solve or face challenges in developing existing learning media.

Abstract

This research aims to present the results of the analysis of the significances for SETS-based science teaching materials (Science,Environment, Technology and Society) in online learning which includes (1) the results of significances analysis for SETS-based science teaching materials, (2) the benefits of SETS-based science teaching materials in online learning. This research was conducted at the PGRI Yogyakarta University using qualitative research methods. Data was collected through observation, unstructured interviews and documentation. The results showed that (1) SETS-based science teaching materials is needed by students at PGRI Yogyakarta University in the distance or online learning process in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic to facilitate the teaching and learning process, (2) the benefits of SETS-based science teaching materials in online learning are that with SETS-based teaching materials students can transform knowledge in the form of technology and develop students' social skills. With the use of SETS-based teaching materials, students are hopefully in ease to access teaching materials because there are no limitations between space and time. In addition, students can explore science knowledge by involving real life and the environment in which they live and can provide benefits to the community. Abstract

This study aimed to produce a suitable module to improve the understanding of environmental care concepts and attitudes of fourth-grade elementary school students and determine the module’s effectiveness. The data collection instruments consisted of a teacher interview guide, a student preliminary study questionnaire, a media expert validation questionnaire, material and instrument experts, a teacher response questionnaire, a student response questionnaire, and environmental care attitude assessment questionnaire, and a concept understanding ability test. The feasibility assessment uses assessments from media experts, learning material experts, and learning instruments. The practicality assessment of the module consists of a teacher response questionnaire and a student response questionnaire. The data analysis of the module’s effectiveness on the ability to understand the concept and attitude of caring for the environment was analyzed using the t-test and MANOVA test with a significance level of 0.05. The results of the study showed that: i) The module met the eligibility criteria based on the results of assessments from media experts, learning materials experts, and learning instruments that get an assessment in the “very feasible” category to use; ii) The module met the practicality criteria based on the results of the teacher response questionnaire assessment and the student response assessment questionnaire who received an assessment in the “very feasible” category; iii) The module was effective in increasing students’ understanding of concepts and environmental care attitudes. The effectiveness is shown from the t-test and MANOVA test results with a significance level of 0.001.

Abstract

Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilatar belakangi oleh kurangnya antusias dan semangat siswa serta pemanfaatan media dalam proses pembelajaran sehingga keaktifan belajar siswa dalam proses pembelajaran masih rendah. Presentase nilai keaktifan belajar siswa dalam proses pembelajaran yaitu sebesar 20% pada kriteria sangat rendah, 25% pada kriteria rendah, 40% pada kriteria sedang, dan 15% pada kriteria tinggi dengan rata-rata nilai keaktifan mencapai 53%. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa pada pembelajaran tema 1 melalui model discovery learning di kelas III Semester 1 SD Negeri 3 Pamotan Rembang. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang dilaksanakan dengan dua siklus terdiri dari dua kali pertemuan tiap siklusnya. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian siswa dan lembar observasi. Hasil penelitian setelah dilakukan tindakan menggunakan model discovery learning berbasis TPACK pada siklus I menunjukkan peningkatan sebesar 72%. Pada siklus II mengalami peningkatan yang cukup signifikan dengan perolehan nilai rata-rata keaktifan peserta didik mencapai 83%. Disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran discovery learning dapat meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa pada pembelajaran tema 1 kelas III semester 1 SD Negeri 3 Pamotan.

Abstract

Berpikir kritis merupakan salah satu kemampuan yang dibutuhkan untuk menghadapi tantangan abad 21. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas empat sekolah dasar. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 61 siswa berasal dari SD se-gugus II Kapanewon Playen Kabupaten Gunungkidul , Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi dan tes dengan indikator menginterpretasi, menganalisis, dan mengevaluasi. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif yang mencakup ketiga indikator dengan kategori kategori sangat baik, baik, cukup, kurang, dan sangat kurang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata skor berpikir kritis siswa berada pada kategori cukup. Lebih jauh, pada indikator menginterpretasi didominasi kategori cukup, pada indikator menganalisis didominasi kategori baik, dan pada indikator mengevaluasi didominasi kategori cukup. Dengan demikian, kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar tersebut berada pada kategori cukup. Namun demikian, terdapat perbedaan kemampuan pada pada masing-masing indikator.

Abstract

The Primary School Teacher Education Study Programme is responsible for preparing community members who have academic qualifications and competencies as learning agents. This readiness is the main capital for students to do the work of a teacher. In providing education to students, a teacher should have self-efficacy. This research is a quantitative study with an ex-post facto research type. The objectives of this study determine whether there is an effect of attitudes toward science on the efficacy of teaching science subjects. 147 4th-semester students majoring in Elementary School Teacher Education, Yogyakarta State University, were involved. The data collection technique used a questionnaire using a Dimensions of Attitude Towards Science (DAS) Instrument and The Science Teaching Efficacy Belief Instrument (STEBI-B). The study revealed a significant influence between attitudes toward science and the science teaching efficacy of elementary school teacher education students. The results of the analysis revealed that the coefficient of determination is 0.322, which means that 32.2% of variations in science teaching efficacy can be explained by attitude towards science.

Abstract

Education is the process of changing the attitudes and behavior of a person or group of people to mature humans through teaching and training. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of bullying on the mental health of fourth-grade students at SDK Ende 3 Ende. This type of quantitative research. The sample in this study was 30 students in class IV. This study uses Pearson Correlation Product Moment analysis using the SPSS 25 application to measure the closeness of a linear relationship between two variables that have normal data distribution. Bullying has a positive and significant correlation with mental health (R) which is positive (0.718) and the account of the bullying act variable (0.615) > ttable corresponds to a significant level of 5% (2.006). The results of this study indicate that bullying greatly affects children's mental health. So it can be concluded that bullying has a positive and significant effect on mental health. The contribution of bullying to mental health can be seen through its determination coefficient (r2), which is 0.615. Bullying contributes 51.6% to mental development. A Contribution of 48.6% to mental development is obtained from other factors.
