Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aims to determine the effect of Think Pair Check (TPC) learning models on understanding of mathematical concepts in terms of cognitive style. A purposive sampling technique was used to select a sample of 54 students from a junior high school in Patamuan sub-district, Indonesia. The data were obtained from mathematical concept understanding tests and Group Embedded Figure Test (GEFT) to determine students' cognitive styles. Data were analyzed using t-test. The findings indicated that students who learned using TPC method had a better understanding of concepts than those learning using the conventional model. Furthermore, the TPC learning model positively influenced the understanding of mathematical concepts of students with the Field Independent cognitive style but had no influence on students with the Field Dependent cognitive style. Therefore, the TPC learning model can be used to improve the understanding of mathematical concepts, especially for students with the Field Independent cognitive style.

Abstract

The problem faced by partners is the teacher's inability to design curriculum learning 2013 by paying attention to students' intelligence such as interpersonal, intrapersonal, visual, and kinesthetic. Students in a class have a variety of intelligence and learning styles. Teachers should accommodate all these intelligences in the learning process. It requires an activity on how to design 2013 curriculum learning planning. The method used in this training activity consists of three parts, namely the presentation of theories about designing curriculum learning 2013. In this activity questionnaire sheets were used. The questions are arranged to see the results of the implementation of the design of planning the 2013 curriculum learning activities with attention to student intelligence. The training activities carried out are able to improve teacher competence (teacher understanding and skills) in designing and making media that is appropriate to the material and intelligence and learning styles of students

Abstract

The problems found in the field were the low ability of students to solve problems, the preparation of mathematics learning tools that were still not in accordance with the characteristics of students. For this reason, a research development of mathematics learning tools has been designed. The purpose of this study was to describe the process and results of developing Situation Based Learning (SBL) based mathematics learning tools to improve the valid, practical and effective problem solving abilities of class VIII students. This type of research is development research, using Plomp's research procedures, namely the preliminary research phase, the development or prototyping phase and the assessment phase. This device was tested in SMP 06 Padang by taking three students for one to one (class VIII.1) and six students for the small group (VIII.3). The results of this study indicate that the device developed is valid with an average score of 0.862 for lesson plans and 0.965 for student worksheets, practical with an average score of 91.92% practicality and effective with a mastery of material completeness of 82.89%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran matematika berbasis pendekatan contextual teaching and learning (CTL) untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII SMP 26 Padang denagn 32 siswa. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan. Model pengembangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adala model Plomp yang terdiri dari tiga fase yaitu preliminary research, development and prototyping phase, dan assessment phase. Data efektifitas dari perangkat pembelajaran diambil dari tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik. Dari hasil tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis diperoleh bahwa rata-rata skor sudah efektif. Persentase ketuntasan klasikal adalah 78,12% atau lebih dari 75% dengan nilai rata-rata ketuntasan 76.6. Dengan persentase ketuntasan lebih dari 75%   menunjukkan bahwa tujuan pembelajaran tercapai dan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis CTL secara umum dapat dikatakan efektif dan layak untuk digunakan.AbstractThe purpose of this study is to develop of mathematical learning devices based on the contextual teaching and learning approach in terms of students' mathematical communication skills. The subjects of this study were seventh grade students of SMPN 26 Padang with a total of 32 students. This research includes the type of development research. The development model used in this study is the Plomp model. The Plomp model consists of three phases. They are preliminary research, development or prototyping stage and assessment phase. Data on the effectiveness of learning devices are taken from the results of tests of students' mathematical communication skills. From the test results, it is found that the students’ average test scores of mathematical communication skills are effective. The percentage of completeness in classical is 78.12% or ≥ 75% with the average value of students who complete is 76.6 which exceeds the minimum completeness. With the percentage of completeness more than 75% indicates that the learning objectives have been achieved and learning devices in the form of CTL-based that are generally developed are considered to be effective so that they are feasible to use.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop student worksheets on the matrix that is valid and practical using the discovery learning model. This is because the student worksheets used in the learning process are still not able to facilitate students to be actively involved in discovering a concept or principle to construct their knowledge. The type of this research is Research and Development (R&D). This research used the Plomp model which consists of three phases, namely preliminary research, development or prototyping phase, and assessment phase. The research data were collected by using a questionnaire, interview, and observation. The data from the questionnaire were analyzed by using descriptive techniques, while the data from observations and interviews were analyzed by using descriptive statis-tics. The results of this research are (1) the student worksheets developed has a very valid category with a validity value of 82.78%, (2) the student worksheets can be used easily by students in the learning process with a practicality value of 88.47% with very practical category. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the developed student worksheets can be applied in mathematics learning in schools.

Abstract

Penalaran spasial adalah kemampuan mental yang bersangkutan dengan pemahaman, memanipulasi, merotasi, dan hubungan visual.  Penalaran spasial yang terdiri dari tiga konstruk yakni visualisasi spasial, rotasi mental, dan orientasi spasial ini merupakan salah satu kemampuan penting dalam geometri. Penelitian  deskriptif  kualitatif  ini  bertujuan mendeskripsikan kemampuan spasial siswa SMPN1 Padangpanjang dalam memahami, memanipulasi dan merotasi  suatu  objek  serta  kemampuan  membayangkan  bentuk  objek  dari  perspektif berbeda dengan pemberian tes masalah geometri  dengan topik dimensi tiga. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 32 orang  siswa SMPN1 Padangpanjang. Subjek kemudian dikategorikan menjadi kelompok tinggi, sedang, rendah dan dilakukan pendalaman pada tiap perwakilan kelompok melalui wawancara. Berdasarkan aktivitas penalaran spasial dan wawancara, diperoleh deskripsi sebagai berikut: siswa kelompok tinggi sebanyak 18,75% siswa, memiliki kemampuan penalaran spasial yang tinggi karena mampu memunculkan mental images yang jelas untuk menyelesaikan masalah geometri dengan langkah terstruktur, siswa kelompok sedang sebanyak  56,25% siswa memiliki kemampuan penalaran spasial yang sedang karena menemukan jawaban dengan cara yang tidak terstruktur dengan menebak jawaban, lalu membayangkan untuk mengecek kebenaran jawaban, sedangkan siswa kelompok rendah  sebanyak 25% siswa memiliki kemampuan penalaran spasial yang rendah karena sama sekali tidak mampu memperoleh gambaran visual dalam pikirannya dan tidak tahu cara menyelesaikan masalah yang diberikan.

Abstract

Learning tools are one of the important things in the learning process that have an impact on students' abilities, especially mathematical reasoning abilities. Learning tools in the form of lesson plans and LKPD can create an effective and fun learning process, and can facilitate students' mathematical reasoning abilities. This research was conducted with the aim of developing learning tools that have valid, practical and effective characteristics on the mathematical reasoning abilities of seventh grade junior high school students. This type of research is development research using the Plomp model, which consists of three stages, namely the preliminary stage, the prototype-making stage and the assessment stage. The learning tools developed are lesson plans and LKPD with the PjBL – STEM model in improving students' mathematical reasoning abilities for class VII. The instruments used are validation sheets, observation sheets, questionnaires, interviews and tests. The results showed that: (1) Learning tools in the form of RPP and LKPD with the PjBL - STEM Model in improving students' Mathematical Reasoning Ability. already valid in terms of content and construct. (2) Practical because it is easy to use and understand, the allocated time is very efficient, interesting and contributes to learning. (3) From the results of the mathematical reasoning ability test, it shows that the PjBL – STEM learning tool in improving students' Mathematical Reasoning Ability has been effective in improving mathematical reasoning abilities seen from the results of the final test conducted on students.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low mathematical communication skills of junior high school students. This study aims to produce an Android-assisted problem-based learning E-module that is valid, practical, and effective to facilitate mathematical communication skills. This research is a development research carried out with the Plomp development model. The Plomp development model consists of three stages, namely preliminary investigation, prototyping stage, and assessment phase. The research was conducted at SMPN 3 Sungai Rumbai with the research subjects being material experts, linguists and educational technology experts as well as class VIII students at  SMPN 3 Sungai Rumbai. Data collection instruments in the form of interviews, documentation, questionnaires and test questions. The data obtained were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques. The results showed that the problem-based learning-assisted mathematics E-module developed was classified as very valid (88.9% for lesson plans and 89.1% for e-module) and very practical, respectively 86.3% and 86, 5% (for small group lesson plans and e-modules) 85.9% and 85.5% (for large group lesson plans and e-modules). Meanwhile, based on the test results of the mathematical communication ability test, 76.2% of students met the criteria for the success of the mathematical communication ability test > 65%, meaning that the problem-based learning-assisted e-module was effective on mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

Learning tools become one of the important things in the learning process that has an impact on the ability of students, especially the ability to think creatively. Learning tools in the form of RPP and LKPD  can create an effective and fun learning process, and can facilitate students' creative thinking skills. Although this creative thinking ability is one of the important abilities and must be mastered by students, there are still many students who find it difficult to solve problems that can encourage the development of students' creative thinking skills, so it is necessary to develop learning tools that can help improve students' abilities. creative thinking of students. Learning according to these characteristics is the STEM integrated Project Based Learning model of mathematics learning. This study aims to design valid, practical and effective learning tools in the form of STEM-PjBL-based RPP and LKPD for Class VIII Junior High School students. The development research was carried out using the Plomp development model. The Plomp development model consists of three stages, namely the preliminary research stage, the development or prototyping stage and the assessment stage. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews and observation sheets. Analysis of the validity data showed that the resulting device was in the very valid category with a RPP validity score of 3.63 and LKPD 3.54. In the analysis of practicality data, it was found that the mathematics learning tools were practical with a practicality score of 82.1% for RPP and LKPD 82%. Learning tools are effective based on learning outcomes where the completeness is 63.02 %. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the STEM-PjBL-based learning tools developed were valid, practical and effective.

Abstract

This study aims to describe a valid, practical and effective RME-based mathematics learning tool for increasing the ability to understand mathematical concepts of elementary school students. The research was conducted at SDN 41 Kinali, West Pasaman Regency. There were 27 grade students in grade IV as research subjects. This type of research is the development with the Plomp model. The validity level of the aspects of content, language, presentation by the validator is 90.09% with a very valid category. The practicality of the learning tools from the teacher's response was 97.3% and the response of students was 85.53% which means very practical. Then the average final test results of the students were 90.83. Thus it is known that the developed RME-based mathematics learning tool is suitable for use in grade IV SD.
