Abstract

This research aims to describe: 1) the effectiveness of the realistic approach-based learning tools developed; 2) increasing students' mathematical problem-solving skills taught through a developed realistic approach-based learning tool; and 3) student responses to the realistic approach-based learning tools developed. This research is a development research. This research was conducted in two stages, namely the first stage of developing learning tools based on the Realistic Mathematics Education approach, and the second stage of testing learning tools based on the Realistic Mathematics Education approach developed in class VII at SMP IT Darul Ikhlas Al Islami to see their effectiveness. The results of the trial, it was obtained: 1) learning tools based on a realistic approach that were developed effectively, in terms of a) classical student learning completeness; b) achievement of learning objectives; and c) learning time; 2) The realistic approach-based learning tools developed can improve students' mathematical problem-solving abilities; and 3) students' positive response to the activities and learning tools based on the realistic approach developed.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkanymedia pembelajaran interaktif dengan model blended learning untuk meningkatkan kemampuantpemecahan masalah matematis yang valid bagi siswatkelas X SMK pada materi SistemrPersamaan Linier Dua Variabel. Media yang dikembangkan dilengkapi dengan modul ajar dan bahan ajar. Jenistpenelitian yang digunakantadalah penelitian pengembangan. Pengembangan media ini menggunakan pengembangan dengan model Plomp . Tahap penelitian pengembangantini terdiri dari 3 tahaptyaitu tahap investigasitawal, tahap prototype, dan tahap penilaian. Pada tahap investigasi awal dilakukan perancangan media pembelajaran interaktif. Pada tahap prototype dilakukan validasi terhadap media yang telah dibuat, dan setelah media dinyatakan valid dilanjutkan pada tahap penilaian. Instrumen yang digunakantpada tahap prototype ini adalah lembar validasi. Lembar validasi ini bertujuan untuk memberikan penilaian terhadap aspek isi, aspek kebahasaan, dan aspek grafis (kebangkitan, warna, keseimbangan bentuk, keterpaduan, kualitas pengolahan program). Hasil validasi media pembelajaran interaktif oleh ahli berada padatkategori sangat valid dengan skor rata-rata 3,55. Media pembelajaran interaktif ini juga dilengkapi dengan modul ajar dan bahan ajar yang juga dikategorikan sangattvalid dengan skortrata-rata hasil validasi 3,56 untuk modul ajar dan 3,68 untuk bahan ajar. Berdasarkan kategori validitas, media pembelajaran interaktif, modul ajar, dan bahan ajar dapattdigunakan dalam prosestpembelajaran.

Abstract

Kemampuan representasi matematis merupakan keterampilan penting dalam mempelajari matematika, memungkinkan peserta didik untuk mengungkapkan ide matematika melalui berbagai representasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kemampuan representasi matematis siswa kelas XI MIPA di SMAN 1 Tigo Nagari. Pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif digunakan dengan mengumpulkan data melalui tes kemampuan representasi matematis dan wawancara. Studi literatur juga dilakukan mengenai kemampuan representasi matematis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika berada pada tingkat sedang, dengan beberapa area yang perlu ditingkatkan. Saran meliputi perancangan kegiatan pembelajaran atau media pendidikan untuk membantu siswa mengaplikasikan kemampuan representasi matematis dalam kehidupan nyata. Penelitian selanjutnya dapat mengeksplorasi jenjang yang lebih tinggi dan mengembangkan instrumen penilaian untuk topik matematika lain seperti geometri dan matriks.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is one of the abilities that must be mastered by teachers. To increase teachers' creative competence, digital modules oriented towards mathematical literacy are supported by Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) training. This study aims to evaluate the validity and practicality of digital modules oriented towards mathematical literacy. This study uses the design research method with the Plomp model, which consists of three stages: preliminary research, the prototype stage, and the evaluation stage. The instruments used were validation sheets for material experts and media experts, as well as student and teacher response questionnaires to see the effectiveness and practicality of the digital modules that had been developed. The results of the study show that digital modules oriented towards mathematical literacy using TPACK training have been successfully carried out. Based on the results of the analysis, effectiveness, and practicality, the feasibility of the module is 87.65%, which is in the very good category. Therefore, it can be concluded that the developed mathematical literacy-oriented digital modules have valid, practical, and effective qualities to enhance teacher creativity.

Abstract

The literature study and preliminary analysis conducted showed that students' critical thinking skills were still low. This study aims to determine the characteristics of Attention, Relevance, Confidence, Satisfaction (ARCS)-based learning tools that contain valid, practical, and effective HOTS questions to improve the critical thinking skills of class VIII students of SMP N 6 Padang Panjang. This research is a development research using the Plomp model. The learning tools developed are in the form of Learning Implementation Plans (RPP) and Student Activity Sheets (LKPD). The research subjects were students of class VIII SMP N 6 Padang Panjang. Data was collected through documentation, observation, interviews, questionnaires, and tests of critical thinking skills. RPP Validity Score: 3.28 and LKPD: 3.21 with a valid category. Practicality of RPP: 92.08% and LKPD: 87.35% with very practical category. The effectiveness of learning tools based on testing the average critical thinking skills of the experimental class was 81.93, control class was 76.63. Based on statistical tests, a significance value of 0.048 <0.05 was obtained, and based on the list of t distribution tables with (????????)=60 and a=0.05, 1.671. Because t_count= 2.108>1.671=t_(table) then H0 is rejected and accepts H1. Based on the test results, it can be concluded that the ARCS-based learning tools contain HOTS questions that meet valid, practical, and effective criteria to improve students' mathematical thinking skills.

Abstract

Mathematical disposition is one aspect that influences a person's success in learning, because mathematical disposition is a person's attitude towards appreciating mathematics. This research aims to describe the mathematical disposition of students in the Mathematics Education Study Program at PGRI University of West Sumatra in the Basic Statistics course. The research subjects were 28 students from the class of 2021. The instruments used were a mathematics disposition questionnaire and interview sheets. Mathematical disposition is seen using 6 indicators, namely: 1) self-confidence, 2) curiosity, 3) feeling capable, 4) happy, diligent and diligent, 5) flexible, 6) reflective. The data analysis technique uses quantitative descriptive analysis techniques in the form of percentages. The results of this research show that learning outcomes have increased from the average pretest score (62) to posttest score (87). Based on the results of the Shapiro-Wilk statistical test, it was obtained that 0.03 was smaller than 0.05 and had a normal distribution, so the results of this research were acceptable and had a significant effect on students' mathematical disposition through the CTL approach.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low ability of student’s mathematical communication and the instructional package used has not provided opportunities for students to construct student’s creative ideas in understanding concepts and discovering principles. This research aims to obtain a guided discovery-based mathematics instructional package to improve mathematical communication of VIII grade junior high school students that is valid and practical. The instructional package developed is the lesson plans and student worksheets. This type of research is research and development. The development model used in this research is the Plomp model, which consists of 3 phases, namely the preliminary research phase, the development or prototyping phase, and the assessment phase. In the preliminary research phase, the analysis required for the development of guided discovery-based instructional package was carried out. In the development or prototyping phase, the design of guided discovery-based mathematics instructional package was carried out by paying attention to aspects of the feasibility of content and presentation, language, and graphics. In the development or prototyping, formative evaluation was carried out, namely self-evaluation, one-to-one evaluation, and small group evaluation. In the assessment phase, it was carried out by giving a practicality test questionnaire based on guided discovery to mathematics teachers and VIII grade students. The test subjects in this study were students of VIII.2 grade of SMPN 12 Padang in the academic year 2020/2021. The instruments used in the preliminary research phase were observation sheets, interview guides with teachers, and student questionnaires. The validity instruments were the self-evaluation sheet and the lesson plans and student worksheets validation sheet. The practical instruments were observation sheets of lesson plans, teacher response questionnaires, and student response questionnaires. The results of the analysis of the data from the lesson plans and student worksheets validation sheets show that the guided discovery-based mathematics instructional package developed is valid in terms of content and presentation, language, and graphics according to the expert judgment. Guided discovery-based mathematics instructional package are practical in terms of ease of use and time. This was obtained based on the results of observations of the implementation of the lesson plans, teacher response questionnaires, and student response questionnaires.

Abstract

All students need problem-solving skills. However, students still have difficulties in solving problems. Thus, a learning model that can develop students' ability to solve problems is needed. This study examines how Problem Based Learning (PBL) affects students' problem solving skills. This quantitative research used the Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design. All eighth grade students from nine classes were studied. Two classes with 63 students were sampled. This study used random sampling at SMP Negeri 10 Padang. Data were collected using test questions. Data analysis showed that the t-test for hypothesis testing rejected the null hypothesis (H0) with a P-value of less than 0.05. The problem-based learning model has an effect on the mathematics problem solving ability of students in grade VIII of SMP Negeri 10 Padang.Keywords – Mathematical Problem Solving Ability, PBL, Conventional Learning

Abstract

This research identifies publications related to Discovery learning. Discovery learning is a learning model that encourages active learning in students through self-discovery and research so that the results achieved are long-lasting and difficult to forget. This research aims to identify and analyze articles researching Discovery Learning that have been published in several reputable international journals published in the 2014-2023 period, which was carried out using bibliometric studies. Bibliometric analysis produced four findings: publications about Discovery Learning in Scopus-indexed journals have been in a fluid and balanced pattern every year for the last ten years; 328 of the ten journals producing the most articles have been published. The top-ranked journal published 15 articles, and the tenth-ranked journal published five articles; The most citations occurred in articles published in 2020 with a total of 1101 citations. The most cited article was written by B.R. Goldsmith with 241 citations; The author's keywords that are most frequently used in the top three are discovery, machine, and machine learning
