Abstract

The research was conducted in the village of Bukit harapan, District Kerinci Kanan, SiakRiau Province, aiming to find out the perception of farmers who have implemented theintegration of Cattle and Oil Palm (SISKA). The study lasted for 8 (eight) months,starting from March 2010. The study population was all farmers of the Joint AdvancedFarmers Group in the Village of Bukit harapan who have applied SISKA and feedprocessing technology. Sampling used census method of 7 members of the group.Sampling of non farmer groups of 15 people was carried out with the snowball method,which is an oil palm plantation farmers in the village of Bukit Harapan. Results showedperception of farmers of feed processing technology in the Joint Advanced FarmersGroup in the village of Bukit Harapan, District Kerinci Kanan, Siak Regency providesrelative advantages over the traditional way, with high fitness level, low level ofcomplexity (because the technology is simple), but somewhat difficult to start / appliedon a small scale, and easily observed in relatively quick time, through institutionalsupport for farmer groups in the formation of adequate venture capital and social capital.In general, the farmers perception of feed processing technology innovation is in goodcategory, so the technology worth to be disseminated to farmers by using groupapproach.

Abstract

System Integration is an activity that combines two or more efforts with the aim of increasing profits. The application of the Crop Livestock System is an effort to combine corn and cattle crops in the farmer's farming system. The purpose of the study was to determine the perception of members towards the role of farmer groups (as learning classes, production units and cooperation vehicles) in the application of the integration system, to find out members' perceptions of the implementation of  institutional aspects and the objectives of  farming groups. There were 17 respondents who were members of the Prima Jaya farming group. The research was conducted in Marpoyan Damai District, Pekanbaru City, October 2018 to April 2019.  The research method is a survey with a sampling technique carried out by purposive sampling. The data analysis techniques used are validity tests, reliability tests using SPSS 17.0, descriptive analysis and likert scales. The results showed: Members' perceptions in general of the role of farming groups in the implementation of the integration system are in the good category, farmers' perceptions of institutional aspects are in the excellent category, the goals of farmer groups are in the good category, which shows that  better farming, better business and better living have been achieved.

Abstract

One of the agro-industrial activities carried out in Pekanbaru is the nata de coco agro-industry. Nata de coco is made from coconut water waste which can be a form of fresh drink that resembles jelly or jelly. This study aims to determine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of Sari Coco agro-industry and formulate a development strategy for Sari Coco agro-industry in Pekanbaru City. This research was conducted in Sari Coco agro-industry in Rumbai Sub-district, Pekanbaru City. Descriptive analysis was conducted to analyse the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of Sari Coco agro-industry. To formulate the development strategy of Sari Coco agro-industry in Pekanbaru City, SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) and AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) were used. The strengths of Sari Coco agro-industry are MUI Halal certified, having regular customers, cheaper product prices and being able to compete with similar production, as well as diverse flavours and shapes. The priority strategies for the development of Sari Coco agro-industry in Pekanbaru City are maintaining competitive product prices, utilising technology to attract customers, improving product marketing, utilising technological advances, innovating packaging sizes and taking advantage of market opportunities.

Abstract

The purposes of this study were: (1) to analyze household income of smallholder oil palm farmers in the Bina Baru village, District Of Kampar Kiri Tengah, (2) to analyze the structure of household income of smallholders farmers in the village Bina Baru District Of Kampar Kiri Tengah, (3) to analyze the distribution of household income smallholders farmers of palm in the village Bina Baru District Of Kampar Kiri Tengah. This research applied survey method. The population in this study was incorporated in the palm farmer groups and samples were taken using proportional random sampling with a total sample of 36 farmers. Sources of revenue largely derived from agricultural products. Agricultural income of the farming sector oil obtained by samples of farmers in the village of Bina Baru was 77.26 %, because oil palm is the main source of income for farmers. There is 9.93 %  side income from rubber farming. The distribution of income of smallholder farmers of Bina Baru in the lowest income group of 15 farmers were IDR 1.960.123 – 4.880.095 or 40%. Farmers in the middle income group of 15 farmers were IDR 4.959.824 – 8.441.628 or 40%. While farmers in the highest income group of 6 farmers were IDR 8.912.565 – 12.073.051 or 20%. Gini Ratio index was 0.11 which indicated low inequality and Lorenz curve approaching the perfect evenness. It means that the distribution of household income among the palm farmers is relatively even.

Abstract

The agricultural sector has a very important meaning in determining the formation of various economic and social realities in different regions of Indonesia. Potential agricultural sector developed in Indonesia one of which is a sub-sector of food crops, especially rice plants. This study aimed to analyze the marketing of paddy in the village of Kemuning Muda District of Bungaraya Siak. This research was conducted in Desa Kemuning Muda District of Bungaraya in January 2015. Young Desa Kemuning village has a land area and highest rice producer in Sub Bungaraya. The results showed the marketing of paddy in the village of Kemuning Muda there are two marketing channels. In the marketing channel I includes paddy rice farmers, rice mills employer, and the final consumer. Marketing channel II includes paddy rice farmers, millers employer, retailers, and end customers. Marketing functions performed by marketing agencies include exchange function, physical function and function facilities or facilitating function. The highest marketing margin is the marketing channel II amounted to 10.89 percent. The most efficient marketing channel I with the efficiency of 3.89 percent.

Abstract

Keberhasilan usahatani tidak hanya ditentukan oleh kehandalan teknologi dan dukungansumberdaya alam, tetapi juga oleh karakteristik petani. Salah satu tindakan perawatantanaman yang mempengaruhi pertumbuhan dan produktivitas tanaman adalah pemupukanyang bertujuan untuk menambah ketersediaan unsur hara sehingga dapat meningkatkanproduktivitas tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: karakteristik internaldan eksternal petani kelapa sawit rakyat; dan tingkat pengetahuan petani tentang pupuk.Kegiatan penelitian dilakukan di Kecamatan Tanah Putih, Kabupaten Rokan Hilir ProvinsiRiau, ditentukan secara purposive, dengan pertimbangan daerah ini memperoleh programkebun K2i. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan karakteristik internal petani yang tidak pernahmendapatkan informasi tentang pupuk kompos dan tidak memiliki pengetahuan tentangpupuk kompos serta tidak adanya pihak yang memberikan penyuluhan terhadap aktivitasusahatani. Karakteritik eksternal petani dari intensitas dan ketepatan saluran penyuluhantidak terpenuhi karena tidak adanya penyuluh, sehingga sumber informasi sangat terbatas,keterjangkauan harga sarana produksi, dan ketersediaan sarana produksi yang rendahkarena rendahnya kemampuan ekonomi petani. Tingkat pengetahuan petani tentang pupukorganik dan an organik termasuk kategori sangat rendah.Kata Kunci: karakteristik petani, kelapa sawit rakyat, pengetahuan, pupuk

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the financial feasibility in terms of Net Present Value (NPV),Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Net Benefit Cost Ratio (Net B/C), Payback Period (PBP) andsensitivity to chicken meat price changes, decreases of output prices and the production scale.This research applied case study method. Informants in this study are the owner, manager andemployees. The results showed that this business is feasible to be implemented with NPV valueof IDR 692,531,970 (positive), Net B/C of 2.90 (greater than one), IRR of 40% (greater thanSocial Opportunity Cost of Capital) and PBP of 4.9 (less than project life). Sensitivity analysison the increasing of raw material price of organic chicken meat is 39,80%, decrease ofproduction scale is 13,12% and decrease of output price is 12,36% equals to break even point, ifprice increases is above the percentage, then this business is not feasible to continue because theNPV < 0.

Abstract

This study aims to identify institutions and to know the perception of oil palm farmer’s for institutional support Integration System of Oil Palm Cattle Programs (SISKA) in Indragiri Hulu. Methods of data collection using survey methods. The population in this study were farmer’s who applied this SISKA Program and farmer’s are no longer valid SISKA this program. Samples of this technique is 57 people, including respondents who applied and did not apply this SISKA program. Data analysis used descriptive methods. Variables characteristic role of extension were analyzed using Likert Scale. Results shows that the role of Institutional Extension Support (SISKA) by indicator of education with quite a role category, dissemination or innovation information in quite a role category, facilitation in of quite arole category, consultancy in quite a role category, supervision or coaching quite a role category, monitoring and evaluation in quite a role category. The farmer’s perceptions of the SISKA program on the role of education institutions in Indragiri Hulu obtained with quite a role category.

Abstract

This research is aimed to analyze the marketing of coconut sugar based on the structure,conduct and performance of the market. This research is carried out in Indragiri HilirRegency by using survey method over the number of 32 samples. The samples are takenbay snowball sampling start with the sugar makers. The results of this research show thatmarket structure is likely to be monopsony, where trader middle man traders are moredominant while sugar makers are price taker. There are three marketing channels in thisresearch area. From market performance criteria it shows that the first channel is moreprofitable since the costs are much lower and more efficient compare to channel 2 and 3.Keywords: structure, coconut sugar, performance, margin.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) analysis the factors affecting production, allocation of work time, income and household expenditure coconut sugar agro-industry entrepreneurs. (2) analysis the impact of changes in economic policy related to the development of coconut sugar agro-industry to the economic decision-making household. Econometric approach with simultaneous equation models were analyzed by Two Stages Least Square method. The results showed that: (1) coconut sugar production is affected by the allocation of working time on coconut sugar agro-industry businesses. (2) The allocation of working time on the business affected by the age of the entrepreneur and the availability of capital. (3) The allocation of family labor time and the availability of capital is the main factor that determines the changes in household income entrepreneurs. (4) Household expenditure consists of consumption of food, non-food consumption, education, investment, leisure and savings. Consumption of food, non-food consumption, investment, leisure and savings are affected by household income coconut sugar agro-industry businessmen, while education is affected by a number of school children. (5) The policy of increasing the price of coconut sugar and increased allocation of working time have positive impact on the household economy, while the increase in wage costs have negative impact on the household economy. These results indicate that to increase the income of the coconut sugar agro-industry enterprises can be done: (1) Increase the allocation of working time on coconut sugar agro-industry effort to reduce the leisure. (2) Increase the accessibility of capital through government assistance or banks with low-interest credits.
