Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan aktivitas peserta didik dalam pembelajaran tematik menggunakan pendekatan saintifik  kelas I Sekolah Dasar Negeri 14 Benua Kayong Ketapang. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif, bentuk penelitian yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK), dan sifat penelitian bersifat kolaboratif, subyek penelitian yaitu guru dan peserta didik kelas I Sekolah Dasar Negeri 14 Benua Kayong Ketapang yang berjumlah 14 orang. Teknik yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik observasi langsung, teknik dokumenter, dan alat pengumpul data yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi. Hasil penelitian berdasarkan observasi melalui pendekatan saintifik dapat meningkatkan aktivitas peserta didik. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis yang menyatakan penerapan pendekatan saintifik pada pembelajaran tematik di kelas I Sekolah Dasar Negeri 14 Benua Kayong Ketapang dapat meningkatkan aktivitas peserta didik, diterima. Kata kunci : Aktivitas, Pembelajaran Tematik, Pendekatan Saintifik. Abstract: The purpose of this research is to improve the learners' learning activities by using scientific approach in thematic learning at the first grade students in the Elementary School 14 Benua Kayong Ketapang. This research method is descriptive, in classroom action research, and the nature of this research is qualitative research, the research subjects are teacher and learners elementary school first grade students in the Elementary School 14 Benua Kayong Ketapang which consisted of 14 people in whole. The techniques used in this research were the technique of direct observation, documentary technique, and data collection tool were used as observation guidelines. The result based on observation by using scientific approach had improved learners' learning activities. This shows that the hypothesis that stated the application scientific approach in thematic learning at the first grade in the Elementary School 14 Benua Kayong Ketapang can improve learners' learning activities, accepted. Abstract

The aims of this study are to find out whether the implementation of Google Site is effective or not for Teaching EFL and to know the student’s perception toward the implementation of google site in teaching EFL. The subject of the study will be English Students Education at Universitas Muhammadiyah Palopo. The samples of this study will be chosen randomly. The data will be from the EFL Test and interview and all documents use by the lecturer in their teaching and learning process. The EFL test used to measure the students’ improvement after implementing the google sites and the interview used to investigate while the interview done to dig more information on how the students’ perception toward the implementation of google site in teaching EFL. However, through the implementation of the media, it can be said to be effective and attract the attention of students in EFL learning.

Abstract

This research identified types and the dominant communication styles used by a teacher in EFL classroom interaction based on theory of Mikoluk (2013) and Lanz (2015). Descriptive qualitative research method was applied to find out the phenomena of communication styles used by the teacher in EFL classroom interaction. The subject of this research is single participant, a teacher of SMA Negeri 3 Palopo. The participant was chosen by using purposive sampling technique. The researcher observed and interviewed the teacher to reveal the phenomena under investigation. Observation was conducted in six meetings from different context such as different class, time and learning topic. The researcher conducted observation by using audio recorder and field notes. Audio recorder was used to record teacher’s utterance in the teaching and learning process. Meanwhile field notes used by the researcher to obtain more accurate data. Interview was used to know the teacher’s dominant communication styles. The result of this research showed that there were three types of communication styles that used by the teacher in EFL classroom interaction namely aggressive style, assertive style, and passive style and the dominant one was aggressive style.

Abstract

This research is attempt to discovers the TU and VOS forms in Tae’ Bastem language and in English, TU and VOS  form was first discovered by Brown and Gilman in 1960. TU represents the pronoun that is used in informal/familiar situation and VOS is used in a formal/polite situation. However, the writer sees that TU and VOS is cultural and it will differ from culture to culture. The researcher found TU and VOS forms in Tae’ Bastem, in fact there are six second person pronoun found in Tae’ Bastem,pronoun pronoun “ki”, and “ta”,    pronoun “ki”, and “ta” are used in formal situation or in polite speech, and pronoun “ko” and “mu” are used in informal or impolite speech. Another finding that the writer found is in Tae’ Bastem, there are two pronoun which are used in both situation, whether in informal or formal, polite or impolite speech, which are the pronoun “mi” and “kun”, pronoun “mi” and “kun”  are used in polite or impolite speech. Otherwise, TU and VOS are not found in English, even in the southern English in America, the only second person pronoun which exist in English is “YOU” , and it is used both in formal/informal or polite/impolite situation. However English speaker, especially those who live in southern part of the United states of America, they have their own way in order to distinguish utterances in formal or informal, in formal situation or in polite speech which are; to say “please” when asking for something, to say “thank you” before or after, saying “yes ma’am” “no ma’am”, soft spoken, maintaining eye contact, and even always be aware of voice tone.Keywords: Brown and Gilman, TU and VOS forms, second person pronoun

Abstract

The writer set the problem of this research such as how is the students’ perception toward the use of worksheet as helping tools in semantics class? and what are the advantages of using a worksheet? The aim of this study is to describe the students’ perception of the use of worksheets as helping tools in semantics class and to find the advantages of using it. The subject of this research is the fifth-semester students in the English Department at the University of Cokroaminoto Palopo. The method of this study is a descriptive study. The procedures of collecting data are giving questionnaires and interviews and then the writer analyzed the data by adopting Matthew B. Miles and A. Michael Huberman's pattern. There were three steps; data reduction, data display, and conclusion. After that, the writer tabulated the gained data in making the description of the data. The result of this study shows; (1) Students are giving positive and good perception on the use of worksheet as helping tools in semantics class and (2) The advantage of using the worksheet as helping tools in teaching semantics are; it helped the students in understanding the question and answering the question easily, it also helped them in remembering the past material by using the worksheet and it gave them some motivation to learn English Semantics. So, it can be concluded that the use of worksheets as helping tools in semantics class got a positive response from the students and it also gave them some advantages.

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to describe the contribution of observer towards the performance of the teachers in teaching. The research question of this research is how is the teachers’ opinion about the contribution of the observer in their class? In answering the research question, the researchers conducted a research in a year by participating in learning community. The sample of this research is the students who have conducted Magang III and contributed as teacher. Here, the researchers use questionnaire given to the teachers. The data from the questionnaire analyzed in the form of Likert Scale. As a result of this study revealed that the fear is only a temporary concern because basically they concluded that the presence of observers had a positive impact on their performance, because there were many valuable lessons and input obtained from the presence of observers in their open classes and of course that will be material for further improvement of their learning. It can be seen from the percentage of the questionnaire show that from 14 statements, most of students are in the Strongly Agree and Agree range.

Abstract

English is an international language, and there are many people or students in the world learning English. All the students have different abilities or strategies for learning English. Without a plan and the students cannot improve their English skills well. So when the students want to learn English should have a strategy because it is will helpful. This research is to determine the method and obstacles English students face in learning English at home during the COVID-19 pandemic at students' universities. This is descriptive, using a qualitative approach with data collection techniques using interviews. The sample in this study was 5 participants from the English Department in the 7th semester of the academic year 2020./2021. The researcher found that of the five participants, the most widely used strategy by students was the first social strategy; most of them practiced English with their parents, family, or friends at home during the pandemic. The second is a compensation strategy; in this strategy, students learn English by listening to songs or reading books to improve their vocabulary. The third is a memory strategy; in this strategy, students learn by listening to songs, radio, or watching on youtube instead of taking vocabulary notes, and they memorize them during the pandemic. Constraints faced by students when learning English at home during the pandemic. Many obstacles faced by students, namely lack of money, not being able to buy internet quota, laziness to move because of the pandemic, unable to accept and laziness to take all the courses given by lecturers, and not having learning tools such as laptops, English dictionaries to help them learn English at University.

Abstract

The effectiveness of pop-up books in increasing students' reading interest at SMPN 3 Palopo, reading interest is the sole focus of this research. In this study, narrative text is the lesson the researcher is trying to convey. Researchers used a total sampling sample consisting of 31 students. The instruments in this study were questionnaires and observation checklists. Researchers collected data through questionnaires. Data were statistically analyzed using SPSS edition 25. The researcher concluded that the use of Pop-up books increased students' interest in reading at SMPN 3 Palopo. This is evidenced by the results of the post-test (39.6) which are higher than the pre-test (28.2). Also, the t-count score (-19.183) is higher than the t-table (2.042). This shows that by using pop-up book media students' interest in reading increases.

Abstract

Salah satu cara yang bisa dilakukan agar tidak terasa asing dengan Bahasa Inggris tersebut yakni pengenalan Bahasa Inggris sejak dini. Hal tersebut bertujuan untuk mencangkan generasi emas, tidak hanya itu dengan mengenalkan Bahasa Inggris sejak dini dapat dijadikan sebagai investasi bagi sumber daya manusia untuk masa mendatang. Oleh karena itu Bahasa Inggris sangat perlu untuk diajarkan sedini mungkin dikalangan anak-anak Kegiatan ini dilakukan di Lapangan Pancasila Kota Palopo sebagai bentuk pengenalan game sebagai media pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris bagi Anak Usia Dini. Ada beberapa games yang digunakan sebagai media dalam kegiatan ini diantaranya ular tangga pintar, kincir angin pintar, dan lainnya. Pengenalan berbagai games tersebut diharapkan mampu membantu guru maupun orang tua dalam mendampingi anaknya dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada hari Minggu, 25 Juni 2022. Kegiatan ini berlangsung selama kurang lebih 5 jam yaitu dari 07.00-jam 11.00 waktu setempat. Terlaksananya kegiatan pengabdian ini memberikan pengetahuan dan membekali orang tua, guru untuk melaksanakan pembelajaran menggunakan media berupa games pembelajaran seperti yang telah diperlihatkan. Games sebagai media pembelajaran ini menjadi salah satu sarana yang sangat baik dalam mengajar karena media ini dapat mempermudah dalam proses pemahaman materi dan juga tentunya dapat menarik perhatian anak-anak.

Abstract

Pelatihan Pemanfaatan Microsoft Office untuk meningkatkan keterampilan komputer bagi Aparatur Desa dan Pengurus Karang Taruna Desa Giri Kusuma merupakan sebuah program pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang bertujuan untuk membantu aparat desa dan pengurus karang taruna di Desa Giri Kusuma agar dapat mengelola kegiatan administrasi desa dengan lebih baik. Saat ini, tidak semua aparat desa dan pengurus karang taruna memiliki keterampilan yang memadai dalam penggunaan Microsoft Office. Banyak dari mereka masih mengalami kesulitan dalam mengoperasikan perangkat lunak seperti Microsoft Word dan Excel. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan di Aula Pertemuan Kantor Desa Girikusuma Kecamatan Malangke, Kabupaten Luwu Utara pada tanggal 20-22 Juni 2022. Persiapan program meliputi perencanaan kegiatan, penentuan tujuan dan sasaran, identifikasi dan analisis masalah atau kebutuhan, pemilihan tim, koordinasi dengan pihak terkait, persiapan sumber daya yang dibutuhkan, serta pembuatan jadwal pelaksanaan, metode evaluasi, dan penyusunan laporan akhir. Tahapan pelaksanaan program dilakukan secara tatap muka yang diawali dengan pembukaan oleh kepala desa, pemaparan materi, diskusi, serta pendampingan pelatihan untuk praktik. Diharapkan dengan program ini, peserta dapat memanfaatkan kemampuan dan keterampilan yang telah dipelajari selama pelatihan serta mengaplikasikannya secara langsung dalam tugas-tugas administratif di desa.
