Abstract

This study has a purpose of finding out the effect of implementation of project-based learning, based on effective local food potencies in developing entrepreneurship attitudes of primary school students. The study is a concurrent embedded mix method research which combines quantitative and qualitative in imbalance natures with primary and secondary data. The primary approach in this study is quantitative study, the learning achievement by using the model of project-based learning on local food potencies. The secondary is qualitatively seen from entrepreneurship attitudes of the students. To get the quantitative data, this study went through pre-test and post-test meanwhile the qualitative data was gained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data gained was analyzed using SPSS 16.0 for Windows and triangulation. Project-based learning model based on local food potencies is effective in developing entrepreneurship attitudes of the students. It is seen from the improving attitudes in each session, first meeting with 69.71, second and third meeting were 76.3 and 84.32. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the learning model is effective in developing the entrepreneurship attitudes of the students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of integrative thematic modules based on the guided discovery in increasing independence and learning achievement. This study applied research and development (R & D) method which refers to the ten steps developed by Borg, and Gall. The test subjects were the fourth-grade students at SD N 1 Teluk and SD N 4 Teluk. The data collection was done using interviews, observation, questionnaires, and tests. The data analysis technique used in this study was descriptive analysis, ANOVA, and t-test. The results of the study showed that: guided discovery integrated thematic learning module that is produced effectively to improve independence and student independence and learning achievement. The students’ independence and learning achievement increases significantly based on paired t-test at a 0.05 level of significance (sig. (2 tailed) = 0.000 < a = 0.05).

Abstract

The observation results at 27 elementary school students indicate that the learning process did not yet support the development of students' creative thinking abilities. Students who recognize cultural diversity will tend to have creative thinking ability. Unfortunately, culture utilization as a source of learning in the school was not optimal, so students were less familiar with the culture in their area. But, creative thinking through learning Project-based Learning (PjBL) model by using local wisdom resource will help students to improve their abilities.  This study aims to determine the application of PjBL with science aspects related to community culture (ethnoscience) and the creative thinking abilities improvement of elementary school students. This experimental research design used a pre-test and post-test design control group. The research sample consisted of students fifth-graders Public Elementary School 2 Majasari and Public Elementary School 3 Majasari. Data collection used observation techniques, written tests, questionnaires, and documentation. The positive findings in the normalized gain test analysis of the experimental class and the control class showed a moderate increase of 0.4 and 0.3. The increase in students' creative thinking abilities in the experimental class was higher than in the control class. The results of the study concluded that the application of ethnoscience based PjBL could improve students' creative thinking abilities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to test the effectiveness of PjBL model by using Science KIT to improve students' confidence and problem-solving skills. This research is done by using a quasi-experimental design with a type of non-equivalent control group design. The research subjects were 50 fifth grade students from Elementary School 02 Krompeng and Elementary School 01 Kalirejo. Data on students’ self-confidence and problem-solving skills assessment are collected through observation and tests. Using N-Gain analysis and t-test. Research results show that there are different results in terms of self-confidence attitudes between groups of students who follow PjBL model with Science KIT and the other groups of students who follow PjBL learning model, obtained a value (tvalue = 37.12 > ttable  = 1.68), there are differences in learning outcomes as well, in terms of problem-solving skills between groups of students who follow PjBL learning model with Science KIT with groups of students who follow PjBL learning model, it is proven post-test result obtained in experimental class is 74.96 while in the control class is 60.72 (tvalue = 19.55 > ttable = 1.71). The results of this research are beneficial for teachers as an overview of condition self-confidence and problem-solving skills that can be taken into consideration in planning the lesson.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model with Simeli media on cognitive learning outcomes and inter-intrapersonal skills of Grade VI students on science subjects electrical energy materials. The research design used is quantitative quasi-experiment. The population of the research was Grade VI Elementary School students in Jumo District. Sampling technique by purposive sampling, obtained from students as many as 22 from Public Elementary School 1 Jombor, 25 from Public Elementary School Giyono, and 23 from Public Elementary School 1 Kertosari. Research data on cognitive learning outcomes and inter-intrapersonal skills were obtained from tests and observations. Data analysis using Anova test with the help of SPSS 25. The results obtained by an average of cognitive learning outcomes of experimental class I was 92.50, experimental class II was 92.72, and control class was 70.13. The average inter-intrapersonal skills of experimental class I was 82.41, experimental class II was 81.48, and control class was 73.13. These data indicate that the average cognitive learning outcomes and inter-intrapersonal skills of the experimental class are higher than that of the control class. Anova test on cognitive learning outcomes showed Fvalue = 116.210 with a significant value of 0.000 < 0.05, while the Anova test results on inter-intrapersonal skills showed Fvalue = 13.088 with a significant value of 0.000 < 0.05. The conclusion of the CTL model with simile media affects improving cognitive learning outcomes, and inter-intrapersonal skills of Grade VI students on science subjects electric energy material.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the improvement of students' concept comprehension ability by applying CLIS (Children Learning In Science) learning models integrated ethnoscience. This study employed a quasi experimental method with one group pretest-posttest design. The data used include pretest and posttest score. The data were analyzed using the one-sample test for the average test, proportion test (Z test) to calculate the classical completeness and N-gain calculation. The result revealed that students who fulfill the minimum standard criteria (KKM) were 30 students with the classical completeness 93.75%. The proportion completeness of concept comprehension ability passed over 75%. The improvement of concept comprehension ability was 0.4 and categorized as medium. Each indicators of concept comprehension increased sequentially that is translating 86.3%, exemplifying 91%, classifying 77.5%, summarizing 76.3%, predicting 88.8% and explaining 73.8%. The improvement of indicator concept comprehension generally in the very good category. Based on the result obtained, it can be concluded that the application of CLIS learning models integrated ethnoscience can improve students’ concept comprehension.

Abstract

21st century needs human resources that have an adequate ability to face the global era. This ability can trained at the education stage by using a good method in learning, discovery learning can be choices to release that. This study's aim is to analyze the effect of learning with discovery models on 21st-century skills for elementary school students. This study uses experimental research. Experimental research method is a research conducted on variables for which data are not yet available that it needs to be manipulated through the treatment of research subjects in which the impact is measured. Results of the creative thinking skills gain test showed the average value of the experimental class was 0.72 while the average value of the control class was 0,39. This shows the discovery model gives more influence on the student’s skills to think creatively. Results of the critical thinking skills gain test showed the average value of the experimental class was 0.78 while the average value of the control class was 0.60. This shows the discovery model gives more influence on the student’s skills to think critically. The results of communication skills test showed a significance value of 0.82. This value is higher than 0.05, it means that students communication skills with the discovery model are not higher than group of students that learning with the expository model. The result of collaboration skills showed a significance value of 0.91. This value is greater than 0.05, it’s means that the collaboration skills of students with discovery models are not higher than those of students who learn with expository models. This research is expected to be a reference for teachers in using learning models when teaching.
