Abstract

This service aims to provide assistance to the community in the Gubung Serut area to prepare educational natural tourist destinations. Mentoring involves partners from PT. Astra International Tbk., Honda Central Java region. Community empowerment applies a participatory method through the stages of community empowerment through the stages of preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Preparation is carried out through the stages of establishing partnerships to build a shared commitment to developing empowerment programs in target locations. The empowerment program is prepared jointly between the service team, village officials, and target community leaders. Data during the empowerment process and activity achievements were collected through interviews and observations. Interviews reveal the opinion of tourism managers about knowledge gained during empowerment activities and benefits obtained in setting up educational tourism areas. The number of visitors to the tourist area every week has reached more than 100 people. The most attractive tourist destinations for visitors are natural panoramas and educational attractions. Preparing the Gubung Serut tourist area to become an educative natural tourism destination has been carried out through preparing management resources, building destinations, and preparing educational tourist attractions. The development of the Gubung Serut tourist area needs to be done with a broader partnership. The culinary and artistic potential still needs to involve partners more broadly to increase the diversity of tourist attractions that attract visitors.

Abstract

Agricultural sector workers are considered to have a lack of awareness and cost-complexities in accessing social security programs. The discussion of this study will focus on efforts to explore issues regarding the factors that influence the tendency or opportunity for workers to become participants in employment social security. Using the logistic regression method and Sakernas data 2019, it is found that agricultural workers with wages above the Regional minimum wage (UMR), workers who already have Health Social Security, formal agricultural workers, those living outside Java, farmers with monthly wages and heads of households tend to be more to become participants in employment social security. Recommendations for expanding participation for agricultural sector workers can be made with several alternatives, such as, (1) justifying or adjusting payment schemes for those who work with seasonal and uncertain wages. (2) To push the expansion of the scope of workers in the agricultural sector, Social Security Administrator for Employment/ BPJS Ketenagakerjaan can conduct program socialization in collaboration with the Social Security Administrator for Health/ BPJS Kesehatan. This is done since the participation of agricultural sector workers in the BPJS healthcare program is relatively high, (3) It is necessary to encourage employers in the agricultural sector to register their workers in social security, through an approach that is adjusted to the income pattern of farmers (seasonal).

Abstract

Abstract

Nypa fruticans Wurmb or ‘nipa’ is a palm plant that includes mangrove commodities, found along the mouths of tropical and subtropical rivers. Nipah forests in Indonesia are spread on the coast of the islands of Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua. Coastal communities in Indonesia usually use nipah as an ingredient in traditional medicine, food coloring, to various handicrafts. The main phytochemical composition of nipah is polyphenols, phenolics, alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids, and saponins. Therefore, the knowledge and utilization of this nipah plant need to be sought and studied more deeply to optimize its utilization. This study aims to find out the utilization of the phytochemical composition of nipah leaf extract on the coast of Indonesia. The results of the literature study on the phytochemical content of nipa leaves and their use have the potential as traditional medicine, and can act as antioxidants, antidiabetics, antimicrobials (antifungals and antibacterials), anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic. In addition to medicine, nipah plants are also used as roofs, livestock pens, or huts in gardens, brooms, handicrafts, fishing gear, as food coloring, as a source of food and beverages, to renewable energy fuel sources.

Abstract

Feronia limonia (L.) Swingle better known as wood apple is an identity plant of Rembang Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia. However, the population is very limited. In order to identify the conservation efforts, this ethnobotany study was aimed to determine traditional knowledge on the existence, economic value, utility, breeding technique and conservation of wood apple. The survey was conducted on a total of 102 local people from 10 sub-districts which were determined by proportionally stratified random sampling. Data were collected by questionnaires and individual interviews and then were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that all of respondents knew the figure of wood apple, but only 79.50% understood its status as an identity plant. Most of respondents (96%) stated that the fruits have low economic value, 80.39% respondents have utilized ripe fruit as ingredients of beverages and stems as firewood. This utilization was only equal to 29.72% compared to the potential usability based on research results. It was concluded that the traditional knowledge about the existence, economic value, and breeding technique were good and on the contrary, the knowledge about the plant’s usability was bad. The results will form a basic knowledge for in-depth studies to provide a government policy of Rembang Regency in order to develop an efficient strategy of management and conservation of wood apple as plant identity.

Abstract

The research aimed to compare caulifl ower growth and production planted at lowland and highland by using organic farming system. The research was single treatment experimentally, which was land height, consisted of highland (Kopeng) and lowland (Ambarawa). The variables were vegetative growth (leaves amount and plant weight) and generative development (fl ower initiation and fl ower weight). The data were analyzed by t-test. The result confi rmed that organic farming will make better lowland caulifl ower vegetative growth but least generative development compare to the highland one. It can be concluded that caulifl ower have the potency of being growth at lowland, even though with least yield. Keywords: lowland, highland, caulifl ower, organic
