Abstract

Aim: This literature review aims to explain the effectiveness of combination relaxation therapies with music and imagery technique to reduce the quality and quantity of pain experienced by post-operative patients. Methods: The research data were identified from 5 journal databases including PubMed, JSTOR, Willey Online Library, Sage Journal and Taylor Francis Online by using the PIOS (Participant, Intervention, Outcomes and Study Design) method and MesH term on advanced search engines. Additional records identified through Google Scholar and Research Gate. The articles that become research data are articles published in 1998–2018 in English version, open access and full-text in the form of original research articles. Results: Eight articles that were screened using PRISMA reviewed without meta-analysis consisted of four articles intervening in a combination of relaxation with music and four articles combining with imagery. Conclusion: The combination of relaxation techniques with music, as well as a combination of relaxation techniques with effective imagery are used to reduce pain. Based on the analysis of the results in several studies, it can be found that patient education about relaxation therapy should be given to all surgical patients to help improve patient’s comfort and enhance tissue healing.

Abstract

Aims: To compare psychosocial status between familial and non-familial breast cancer patients. Methods: This study used a descriptive analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. Population and sampling were taken at Baladika Husada Hospital Jember with a total sampling technique of 90 respondents. The inclusion criteria in this study were a native Jember Regency diagnosed since the end of 2021, histologically documented diagnosis of breast cancer, age range 30-55 years, has a partner (husband), can write and read and is an outpatient or inpatient at a hospital. Baladika Husada Kab. Jember. Patients were excluded if they had stage 4 metastases, were unmarried or divorced, and diagnosed with other chronic diseases. The instrument used was the DASS 21 questionnaire (Depression Anxiety Stress Scale 21) which consisted of 21 self-declaration items. The process of collecting, cleaning, editing and analyzing data was carried out with SPSS version 25.0 using the Mann Withney U Test statistical test. Results: This study involved 90 total respondents consisting of 40 in the category of familial breast cancer and 50 non-familial breast cancer. The p-value >0.05 indicates that there is no significant difference between psychosocial status in familial breast cancer and non-familial breast cancer. Conclusion: Psychosocial status of familial breast cancer patients was not different from that of non-familial. Clinically, these findings indicate the importance of the same model of nursing care between the two patient groups. In the next study, the researcher recommends experimental research that examines various nursing interventions on psychosocial status in both groups.

Abstract

Aims: There was a high rate of psychological issues among students engaging in clinical practice. Students that focus on caring as their pedagogical foundation will be more equipped to provide nursing intervention in clinical situations. Objective: This research aimed to examine nursing students' caring behaviors as they relate to their readiness for clinical practice. Methods: A total of 122 nursing students from nursing schools in Bandung participated in this descriptive and cross-sectional study, with a response rate of 81.3%. Students' caring behavior and clinical readiness are assessed using the Casey-Fink Readiness for Practice Survey and the CBI-24 (Caring Behavior Instrument short form). Pearson correlation and linear regression tests in SPSS 26 were used to establish associations between the variables. Results: Findings demonstrated a statistically significant correlation between students' caring conduct and clinical preparation (sig 0.000; p0.05). The correlation between the two variables was 23.8% strong, which  was statistically significant. Student readiness for clinical practice was only strongly related to the connection factor. Nursing students' caring attitudes and clinical readiness were not significantly influenced by students' age, gender, or work situation. Conclusions: The level of empathy and social connection among nursing students influenced how well they were prepared for clinical practice. The development of students' caring behaviors, including self-assurance, competency, and respect, should be a primary goal of nursing education.
