Abstract

This experiment aims to observe the effect of mutagen concentration of sodium azide to the germination and seedling growth performance of upland rice varieties Kulit Manis generation M-1 and the difference in seedling growth of upland rice varieties in Kulit Manis on the generation M-1 by application Sodium Azide some mutagen concentration. The experiment was conducted in an area behind the of Soil Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, from May to July 2015. Research was arranged experimentally using Completely Randomized Design, which consists of 5 treatments concentration of sodium azide (SA), ie (0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 mM). The mean deviation between treatments tested by Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. Parameters observed were the first count test, the soil emergence test and the percentage of life seedlings. The result showed that the concentration of Sodium Azide significantly effected on the first count test, the soil emergence test and life seedling percentage. Sodium Azide at the concentration of 2.0 mM produce the first count test, the soil emergence test and the lowest percentage of life seedling.Keywords:Upland rice, Sodium azide, Concentration

Abstract

The research aims to observe and obtain the best concentration of powder extract of mangosteen rind to control anthracnose disease on red chili fruits. The research has been conducted in the Laboratory of Plant Pathology, Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau from March to May 2017. The research has been conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design, consisted of 5 treatments and 4 replications. The research consisted of two tests: in vitro inhibition of C. capsici and in vivo application of powder extract of mangosteen rind on red chili fruits. The concentration of powder extract of extract mangosteen rind used were: 0%, 5%, 15%, 25% and 35%. The data were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance and the means were compared with Duncan 's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at level of 5%. The results of the research showed that the concentration of powder extract of mangosteen rind  significantly affected C. capsici growth and increase the percentage of fungal growth inhibition. Powder extract of mangosteen rind at concentration 35%  gave the best effect in controlling anthracnose disease on red chilli fruits, which resulted in a longer incubation period of the disease, a lower intensity of the disease namely 23,70% and the effectiveness as a botanical fungicide is 60,47%. Key words : Red chili, the concentration and Garcinia mangostana.

Abstract

Production of oil palm crops can be kept stable by replanting, by replacing unproductive crops with new crops and using good quality seeds. The use of maize trichocompos is formulated as organic fertilizer, can be done to increase the growth of oil palm seedlings. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Trichocompos maize waste formulations and to obtain a good dose for the growth of oil palm seedlings in early seeding. This research was conducted by experiment using Randomized Complete Design, with 5 treatments and 4 replications consisting of: T1 = 10 g Trichokompos, T2 = 15 g Trichokompos, T3 = 20 g Trichokompos, T4 = 25 g Trichokompos, T5 = 30 g Trichokompos. Data from the observations obtained, analyzed using analysis of variance and conducted a further test Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. The results of this study indicate that the administration of several maize trichocompos doses formulated can increase the height of seedlings, root volume and dry weight of oil palm seedlings in early seedlings. Trichokompos of maize waste formulated with a dose of 30 g / plant has the best ability to increase the growth of oil palm seedlings in early seeding.Keywords: Palm oil, Trichocompost of maize wastes formulated, Early breeding

Abstract

The research aims to isolate and to observe the antagonicity of rhizosphere fungus from onion plant toAlternaria porri. This research has been conducted at Plant Pathology Laboratory and Plant Pest laboratory, Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau from May until July 2017. The research consisted of 6 steps as follow: 1) isolation and purification of the rhizosphere fungus from onion plant used exploration method, 2) antagonicity test of rhizosphere fungus from onion plant againstA. porri used experiment method,3) hyperparasitism test of 5 rhizosphere fungus which have a high antagonicity used observation method. Data collected from step 1 and 3 were descriptively analyzed. Data from step 2 were analyzed by using analysis of variance. The mean of each treatment were compared with Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test(DNMRT) at level 5%. Result of the research showed that there were 16isolates, 5 isolates had a high antagonicity: isolate R6, isolate R11, isolate R10, isolate R4 dan isolate R5. The isolate R6 had the best inhibition growth to A. porri (59,90%), the biggest diameter of the growth (90,00 mm) and the most rapid colony growth (25,00 mm/day). Keyword: Antagonicity,rhizosphere fungus onion

Abstract

The research aims to  isolate and to study the antagonicity of endophytic bacteria from rubber plant to Rigidoporus microporus Cif. and to identify the higher antagonicity isolates. The research has been conducted at Plant Pathology Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty, Universty of Riau from April until June 2017. The research used explorational method (isolation and purification of the bacteria from rubber plant), experimental method (antagonicity test of bacteria endophytic from rubber plant to Rigidoporus microporus) and observation methods (hypersensitive test and characterization of five high antagonicity isolates to Rigidoporus microporus). Data collected from step 1,3 and 4 were analyzed descriptively. Step 2 used analysis of variance. The mean treatments were compared with Duncan’s new multiple range test at 5% level. Result of the research showed that there were 9 different bacterial isolates based on their color and shape of colony. There were four highest antagonicity bacteria, i.e: isolate  rod-2(56,32%), leaf-4 (48,45%), root-3 (46,11%) and leaf-3 (45,50%). The four bacteria are not hypersensitive due to the absence of the necrosis on injected tobacco leaf. The four highest antagonicty bacteria was identified as Bacillus (rod-2), Enterobacter (leaf-4), Aeromonas (root-3) and Listeria (leaf-3). Keywords:Endophytic Bacteria, Rubber Plant, AntagonicityR. mic

Abstract

Chili production in Riau can not meet the needs of the community, because production is still low. One cause of low production of chili in Riau is the infection of disease. The disease is often found in pepper plant caused by the fungus Colletotrichum sp, Cercospora sp . Symptoms and the intensity of the disease are different. So it is necessary to identify the symptoms, causes of disease, the description and the level of disease to be able to control the disease. Identification was carried out at the experimental farm unit in Faculty of Agriculture University of Riau. This study aims to identify the symptoms, causes of disease, the description and the level of disease. The study was conducted using a survey method. Determination of the location of chili crop land is by purposive sampling. Sampling was conducted by a diagonal method with a random sampling of 5 points. The result showed that the disease on pepper plants in the experimental farm unit of the faculty of agriculture University of Riau is cercospora leaf spot disease caused by Cercospora sp (40%), fruit roots and Spot anthracnose twigs caused by Colletotrichum sp (25% and 22,5%).  Keyword: Chili, identification of disease and intensity of disease.

Abstract

Fruit rot diseaseasof cocoa is caused by the infection of Phytopthora palmivora. The diseas can cause a 50% reduction of cocoa yield. Control method that can be used is to combine a the botanical fungicide with antagonistic microbes which can be applied in disease control. The purpose of this study is to determine the compatibility of some concentrations of Betel leaves flour suspension with Tricoderma harzianum and to obtain the best combination to control diseases in cocoa fruits.Theexperimenthas been conducted experimentally using a Completely Randomized Design consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments were the concentration of suspension of betel leaves flour suspension with T. harzianum (0 g/l water + T. harzianum, 25 g/l water + T. harzianum, 50 g/l water +T. harzianum, 75 and 100 g/l water + T. harzianum).The data analyzed statistically with the analysis of variance and continuoudHonesty Significant Different (HSD) test at 5% level. The results indicated that the treatment of some suspension concentrations of betel leaves flour with T. harzianum is incompatible in controlling the P. palmivora fungus. Concentrations of suspension betel leaves flour of 100 g/lwater withT. harzianum showed the best ability to inhibit the growth of P. palmivora fungus on PDA medium, decrease the initial symptoms appereance of Cocoa fruit rot disease, and decrease the intensity of cocoa fruit rot disease by 33,87%. Keywords:       Compatibility, betel leaves flour, Trichoderma harzianum, Phytophthora palmivora

Abstract

The research aims to obtain the best dose of biofungicide containing    Trichoderma koningii Rifaii. to increase the resistance of tomatoes plants to virus complex and to study it’s effect on the growth and yield of tomatoes plants. This research has been conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pathology and Experimental Field Screen House, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riaufor five months from November 2017 to Maret 2018. The reserch was conducted experimentally, arranged in a completely randomized design, consisting of 4 treatments (25, 50, 75, 100 gram of biofungicide ) and 5 replications. Data were analyzed statistically with analysis of variance and the means of each treatment was compared by using Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level. The result showed that the doses of biofungicide of T. koningii had different effect on the first time of symptom appeared disease intensity, plant growth and yield. Biofungicide of T. koningii at 75 gram of biofungicide tender to a better ability to control the virus complex disease, increase the growth and yield of tomatoes plants.Keywords :Biofungicide, Trichoderma koningii, virus complex disease, tomatoes plants.

Abstract

The methods which were used in this research are explorational method (isolation and purification of the endophytic fungus from onion), experimental methods (antagonicity test of fungus endophytic from onion and A. porri), and observation methods (hyperparasitism test of 5 fungus which has a high antagonicity to control A. porri).. Data collected from step 1 and 3 were analyzed descriptively. Step 2 a used analysis of variance. The mean of each treatment was compared with Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at level 5%. The result showed that there were 10 fungus. There were 5 highest antagonicity fungus E3 isolate (55,25%), E4 isolate (50,82%), E10 isolate (48,41%), E2 isolate (48,26%) and E1 isolate (47,76%). Key word: Antagonicity, endophyt fungus onion

Abstract

The objective of the research is determine the effect and obtain the best dose of liquid waste bioslurry of  livestock that can increase the growth and yield of chilli plants (Capsicum annuum L.)in the red-yellow podzolic soil. The research has been conducted experimentally by using a completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of 4 treatments and 6 replications.Each unit consists of 3 plants.The treatments were the dose of liquid waste bioslurry (B):B1 = 250, B2 = 375, B3 = 500 and B4 = 625 ml/plants. Parameters measured were plant height, time of flowering, time of harvesting, fruit length, fruit diameter, fruit number and fruit weight.The result showed that the effect of  dose of liquid waste bioslurry  of livestock significantlyaffected to the growth and yield of red chilli plants wich the best dose was 500 ml/plant.  Keywords : liqud waste bioslurry, chili, red-yellow podzolic soil
