Abstract

The ability to speak in Indonesian is a characteristic of a person's ability to understand Indonesian language lessons. After being observed, many students are still not confident in speaking in front of the class or explaining the concept map in a presentation, and even less active class discussions regarding questions and answers. In this case, classroom action research (CAR) provides an effort to improve students' speaking skills by applying the show and tell method by explaining, presenting concept maps, and discussing questions and answers. This study aims to inform that the application of the show and tell method improves the skills of class XI C students at SMK Komputama Majenang. This study was conducted with 2 cycles and as the subject students of class XI C with observation techniques and oral tests with quantitative descriptive analysis. Based on this, the conclusion is that the application of this method can improve speaking skills from the classical 75% passing percentage to 81%. In applying for the show and tell method, the learning steps are the procedures for implementing the show and tell method by the teacher and students. Students provide explanations with instructions in the form of pictures, photos, personal objects, etc. The teacher encourages students to actively discuss the material from the concept map that the teacher provides, encouraging students to ask and answer.

Abstract

To sustain its future competitive employment both at national and international level, Indonesia Government needs to invest more in its human resources. Therefore,  education  is  the  critical aspect to prepare  highly  educated  and  well-trained  human  resources  for  an  innovation  driven global  competitiveness where ideas are needed to be spoken and trained from earlier age. This study aims to analyse the impact of oral presentation in improving students’ speaking ability in a suburb area in Indonesia. The researcher analyzed how controlled speaking task is able to improve students’ speaking ability in English. The data were collected from SMP Al-Islam Krian Sidoarjo since the school mainly represents the condition of the majority junior high school students in the suburb area in term of teaching and learning situation whom mostly shy and reluctant to show their idea off. While this speaking skill is urgently needed. This study shows that the oral presentation technique is able and effective to help English teachers to solve problems of shy and reluctant students find a way to express their idea spoken.

Abstract

The goal of this research was to find out what role linguistics plays in the English teaching process that takes place at Bakti Indonesia University. The lecturer of Bakti Indonesia University, teaching English along with technological developments can be implemented with various methods and development efforts. One of the efforts made was to optimize the linguistics role, especially applied linguistics, in English teaching process. It is very natural in English teaching process as broad knowledge which is fundamental about the principles of language being learned. The linguistic theories of English lecturers and teaching staff will not find any problems in describing a language especially English in its use. The research method used was descriptive with qualitative approach in its implementation. From the results can be concluded that the teaching method of English language material is not only learning system that plays major role, but more than that it is communication medium that can understand the basic principles of English teaching. For a student that learning any language requires a lot of process and practice in English.

Abstract

The educational approach that emphasizes creative thinking, problem-solving, and interaction is one that is suitable for sustaining this project-based continuous learning. Participation in the current Process, Input, Output, and Outcome is requested of universities. The educational approach that emphasizes creative thinking, problem-solving, and interaction between students and peers in order to create and use knowledge is one that is suitable for sustaining this project-based learning. The aim of this study is to see how continuous learning technologies like PjBL influence the English learning outcomes of students enrolled in Brawijaya University's English Education study programs. The experimental design for this study was a Times-Series System with a Control Group. The one-way ANOVA test was used to analyze the data in this study. The findings showed that the treatment of the TOEFL1test, specifically the pre-and post-test, differed between the contro1 and1experimental groups by using the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) learning model. The experimental class's average pre-test TOEFL score was1344.71, with1a1range of 300-3971and a standard deviation1of129.386. The experimental class's average1post-test1TOEFL score1is 360.83, with a range of values from 303 to 400 and a standard deviation of 24.146. Project-based learning which has a p-value of 0.026, has been shown to improve student's learning outcomes.

Abstract

The study's goal was to identify different types of deixis and types of errors found in students' narrative text writing. There is person deixis, which is the name of the person in the story, spatial deixis, which is the location of the story, temporal deixis, which is the time when the story events, social deixis, which is the social in the surrounding environment, and discourse deixis, which is the part or the next chapter of the story (Levinson, 1983). The descriptive qualitative method was used in this study. The subjects were eight 10th grade students from SMK IKIP Gedangan in Sidoarjo. The instrument in this study was the students' work who took the remedial because their score was less than 70. Students were assigned to write Narrative texts by the teacher. The data was analyzed, examined, and a conclusion was reached based on the deixis. The researchers discovered deixis and error analysis in student writing. There are kind deixis of stories in narrative text that students written like temporal deixis, person deixis, spatial deixis, social deixis, and deixis discourse. For the error analysis there are ommission, addition, misinformation and misordering.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the influence of organization commitment to Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB). The sample at the Limited Liability Company of APJ Jember area, it is state-owned company that operates in the electricity sector with total of 82 employees. Researchers collected data by using questionnaires, documentation study, interviews and surveys. Testing of validity, reliability, normality, multicolinearity, heteroscedasticity, and hypotheses was carried out using IBM SPSS 17.00. The results showed that there was influence from the organizational culture; Organizational Citizenship Behavior simultaneously improved the workforce performance in the scope PT. PLN (Persero) of APJ Jember. This result either culture, OCB and the organization had positive and meaningful influence in improving employee performance. Organizational commitment had very significant / dominant influence and was able to improve employee performance more optimally than organizational culture and organizational citizenship behavior.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify pre-service teachers who are ready to integrate technology into their classrooms. The assumption is that pre-service teachers' characteristics like Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) are influenced by their teacher training. Preservice teachers were clustered based on their TPACK, a typical set of ICT-related characteristics (general ICT attitudes, attitudes towards ICT in education, ease of use and ICT self-efficacy), and perceived support from their training institution. A random sample of 50 senior high school pre-service teachers from SMA Al-Iftitahiyah in Sumenep was used in this mixed-method research. The results also showed that most participants understood TPACK and had ideas for implementing it in their classrooms. Pre-service teachers' (PTs) perceptions of TPACK in teaching and learning is expected. This study also has implications for experts interested in pre-service teachers' understanding of teaching with technology.

Abstract

This reserach was focused and related to effect of sustainability communication, bureaucracy structure and public support which have significant effect toward policy implementation performance and to execute Three Dharma (education, research and comunity service) in higher education. Communication, resources, bureaucracy structure and public support has its influence against disposition. In bureaucracy structure, public support has significant effect toward its main resources which is lecturer or its teaching staff. This study aimed to analyze the effect of communication and organizational culture toward leadership style, cooperation and trust also organizational commitment of lecturer in higher education viewed from its harmonization in executing three laws. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to analyze causality relation between variables. This study used survey method. Population in this study was lecturers in higher education. The total sample was determined 100 respondents from elevens Institution in higher education. Result of this study showed direct and positive significant effect of communication and organizational culture toward leadership style and cooperation also trust and organizational commitment of lecturers in higher education. There was no direct and positive significant effect of communication toward organizational culture. There was direct and positive significant effect toward cooperation and organizational commitment of lecturers to Institutions in higher education. There was direct and positive significant effect of work trust toward organizational commitment.

Abstract

The purpose of this activity is to provide guidance and assistance in improving the quality of the Nurul Huda Islamic Boarding School, Banbaru Village, Gili Genting Sumenep District. Guidance is needed to improve the quality of education Islamic Boarding School, considering that Islamic Boarding School are required to be educational institutions capable of producing quality students, both from an intellectual, religious and moral perspective, as well as being able to manage the potential that exists in the Gili Raja islands. Meanwhile, the Nurul Huda Islamic Boarding School in the Gili Raja Islands, Banbaru Village, Gili Genting, is considered to have not been maximal in producing quality students. This is because management is managed very simply and traditionally, there is a lack of human resources for education and education personnel, a curriculum that is not well organized, and there is no skills education for students. Therefore, to improve the quality of the Nurul Huda Islamic Boarding School, it is necessary to provide assistance and guidance by providing seminars on the urgency of education Islamic Boarding School in the contemporary era, training in curriculum preparation and training in management Islamic Boarding School, strengthening human resources (HR) for educators and education personnel, and providing entrepreneurial training. The hope of this mentoring and coaching service is that Nurul Huda Islamic Boarding School has insight into Islamic Boarding School reform, has a curriculum that is oriented towards meeting the demands and needs of the community, has good management, increases human resources for educators and education personnel, and implants an entrepreneurial spirit for teachers and students or protege.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the improvements of the ninth-grade students at MTs Unggulan Al-Jadid. This was an action research study with two cycles, and the research procedures were planning, action and observation, and reflection. The students from class 9-E at MTs Unggulan Al-Jadid in the academic year 2020/2021, with a total of 25 students chosen through a purposive sampling technique, and an English teacher, were the participants. The instruments were a field note and a test. The results revealed that the mean pre-test score was only 60.25 (pre-test), but it improved significantly from cycle I to cycle II (from 72.50 to 80.25). To highlight, at the beginning of this study (pre-research), the highest score was 70, and by the end of the study, it had improved to 78-92. Meanwhile, the participants with the lowest scores improved significantly on the post-test compared to the pre-test. The pre-test score ranged from 50 to 70, while the post-test score ranged from 70 to 74.
