Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was background by the understanding of students’ mathematic concept which was still low and the responsibility of students who lack the given task during the learning process takes place. This case saw from the result of learning math by students grade eight at SMP N 17 Padang academic year 2013-2014. The purpose of this research was what is the understanding of students’ mathematic concept which applied the active learning strategy type learning tournament better than applied conventional learning for students grade eight at SMP N 17 Padang. This research was experimental research and the research design was random sampling. The population was all of students grade eight at SMP N 17 Padang academic year 2013-2014 which was divided into eight classes. The technique to collect the sample was random, and chooses class VIII 4 as an experimental class and VIII 5 as a control class. The research instrument was understanding test of mathematic concept. The test that used was essay with reability 0,777. The data analysis technique was the one-sided t test with Minitab. Based on data analysis, have known that the sample class did have normal contribution. The result of hypothesis test found p-value = 0,045 little than normal standard = 0,05. So, the hypothesis was accepted. The conclusion was the understanding of students’ mathematic concept which applied the active learning strategy type learning tournament better than applied conventional learning.

Abstract

 ABSTRACT This research was conducted based on the student’s understanding on mathematics concept was still low and the low curiosity of student to the subject material. This research was aimed at revealing wheather the use of Prediction Guide technique could give a better effect on the student’s understanding on mathematics concept than conventional learning in class VIII SMPN 6 Lubuk Basung. This was an experimental research which used random desain toward  subject. The instrument of the research was test on mathematics concept. The data then was analyzed by using t-test assisted with MINITAB. Based on the  data analysis, it was revealed that the sample was distributed normally and had homogeny variant. The result of hypothesis test showed that p-value (0,023) was smaller than indicating that the hypothesis was accepted. Hence, it was concluded that the application of Prediction Guide technique could improve the students’ understanding on mathematics concept better than that of the conventional learning.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The background of this research is the comprehension of mathematical concept of students grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Talamau is low. The aim of this research are to know how students activities in learning process and is the comprehension of mathematical concept by apply Everyone Is a Teacher Here strategies is better than students comprehension of  mathematical concept by apply conventional learning in grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Talamau Kabupaten Pasaman Barat. The type of the reseach is experiment. The sample study is class VIII.3 as experiment and VIII.1 as control class. The research instrument is a observation paper and test comprehension concept. Comprehension of the concept of test data analysis obtained an average of the concept of comprehension test are 68,33 for experiment class and 55,76  for control class. The analysis was done with help of software MINITAB obtainer P-value = 0,0444 is smaller that  = 0,05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the students who used active learning strategy type Everyone Is a Teacher Here better than students comprehension in mathematical concept in conventional learning.

Abstract

                                                        ABSTRACKTeaching materials represent one of the matter that able to influence the quality of learning. Teaching materials should facilitate students to discover concepts independently, so that the mindset of students thrive. At this research, is developed a teaching materials in the form of sheet activity of student (LKS) based on guided discovery. Research type is development research by using model 4-D which consist of 4 phase that is: define, design, develop, and disseminate. Result of validation indicate that sheet activity of student (LKS) based on guided discovery have validity 3,77 which including at criterion very valid which is evaluated from didactic requirements, construction requirements, and technical requirements.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is caused students low understanding of mathematical concepts and difficult to express ideas . This study aims to determine whether students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying Active Learning Strategies Type Giving Questions And Getting Answers a better understanding of the mathematical concepts that students applying conventional learning on eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 4 SUTERA . This type of research is experimental research . The population in this study is the class of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 4 SUTERA . Technique of random sampling , the class is a class VIII.4 chosen as the experimental class and the control class as a class VIII.2 . The instrument used is a comprehension test with indicator concepts . Form of the test used is an essay , test questions totaling 13 items with a reliability of 0.88 . The test results were analyzed with the understanding of the concept of student t test , obtained = 5.02 and  for = 1.64 because  <  the hypothesis is accepted at the 95% confidence level . So it is concluded that the students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying Active Learning Strategies Type Giving Questions And Getting Answers a better understanding of the mathematical concepts that students applying conventional learning on eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 4 SUTERA .

Abstract

ABSTRACT The research was conducted based on the fact which indicated the low students’ comprehension about mathematical concept and the low students’ motivation to think during the learning process in the VIII grade students of SMPN 26 Padang. The purpose of the research was to know whether the VIII grade students’ comprehension in mathematical concept treated by Domino Game strategy was better than the students’ comprehension treated by conventional strategy.  This was an experimental research which used random sampling. The instrument used was the post test. The hypothesis testing showed that t-obtained (2.332) was bigger than t-table (1.67). Thus, it can be concluded that the students’ treated by Domino Game strategy had better comprehension of mathematical concept than those who treated by the conventional learning.

Abstract

ABSTRAK This research is motivated by the students understanding on mathematics concept are still low and the students quickly forgotten in considering the material they have learned. This research was aimed to determine whether students understanding on mathematics concept by implementing PQ4R strategies better than students understanding on mathematics concept by applying conventional learning in class XI Science SMAN 1 Singkarak. This research is an experimental study with randomized research design of the subject. Data analysis techniques are used the hypothesis is t-test. Hypothesis test results obtained t = 5.27 and t table = 1.678 at α = 0.05, so the hypothesis is accepted. So it can be concluded that the students understanding on mathematics concept by applying PQ4R strategies is better than the students’ understanding on mathematical concepts by applying conventional learning in class XI Science SMAN 1 Singkarak.

Abstract

ABSTRACKTThe background of the research is the researcher found that there is a students’ lack understanding related to the mathematical concept at XI IPA of Senior High School Adabiah 2 Padang, and the students’ learning outcome at that school is also low. The purpose of the research is to find out whether the understanding of mathematical concept by applying Treffinger Model is better than Conventional model at XI IPA of Senior High School Adabiah 2 Padang Year 2013/2014. Afterward, the type of the research is an experimental research. Then, the population of the research is the students at XI IPA of Senior High School Adabiah 2 Padang Year 2013/2014. Next, the technique sampling of the research is random sampling, XI IPA 5 as the experimental class and XI IPA 1 as the control class. The instruments that use are motivation checklists and the final test with indicators of concept understanding. The type of the test is essay; 5 questions, with 0,68 reliability. Thus, the result of the test is an abnormal distribution. So, the researcher decided to use Mann-Whitney test with Z = -9,69 and Ztable=-1,65 shown that  Z < Ztable with 5% real level. Last, can be concluded that the students’ understanding of mathematical concept by implementing Treffinger Model is better than Conventional Model at XI IPA Senior High School Adabiah 2 Padang Year 2013/2014.

The purpose of this research is to know whether students understanding of mathematical concept by applying cooperative learning type Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) better than students understanding of mathematical concept by applying conventional learning at class X SMAN 12 Padang. The kind of this research is experimental research which use randomly research design to subject. The population of this research is student class X SMAN 12 Padang. Class X.3 as experimental class and X.4 as control class. The instrument used in this research is final test of result mathematical concepts  understanding with reability test is The technique of data analysis used is t-test. Based  on the final test mathematics value student at both sample classes are gotten and ,it means that the hypothesis can be accepted because . It can be concluded that students understanding of mathematical concept by applying cooperative learning type Students Teams Achievement Division (STAD) better than students understanding of  mathematical concept by applying conventional learning at students class X SMAN 12 Padang.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was carried out for the students’ low activities and ability in mathematics concept. The aim of the research was to reveal the students’ activities by using The Learning Cell active learning strategy and to see whether the mathematics conceptual understanding of the students taught by using The Learning Cell active learning strategy was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning in class VII I of SMPN 17 Padang. This was an experimental research. Based on the result data analysis it was found that, in general, the students’ activity improved in each meeting. The result of hypothesis test showed that the value of tcalculated (2,01) was higher than ttable (1,645) indicating that the hypothesis was accepted. This result signified that the mathematics conceptual understanding of the students taught by using The Learning Cell active learning strategy was better than that of students taught by using conventional learning in class VII I of SMPN 17 Padang registered in academic year 2013/2014.Â
