Abstract

This training activity aims to provide teachers with knowledge and skills in making kokodema an environmentally friendly medium in reducing plastic waste pollution in schools. The activities carried out consist of three activity activities, namely pre-activity, implementation of activities, and post-activity. Pre-activity activities are initial exploratory activities to find reasons for teachers/activity participants to participate in activities. While the implementation of the activity has carried out by providing a list of questions to the teacher/participant, which contained the teacher's initial knowledge of kokedama as an environmentally friendly medium, then continued with the delivery of material. The third activity is post-activity, an activity to process data obtained from participant/teacher responses before and after the activity has carried out. Training activities for making kokodema an environmentally friendly medium can increase the knowledge and skills of teachers in reducing plastic waste pollution in schools. This has shown by the active participation of the participants in participating in training activities ranging from delivering material, taking an active role in discussions, carrying out kokedama making practices and participating actively in evaluation and reflection activities.

Abstract

The background of this research is that speaking skills are one aspect of language skills that students must master, in addition to the three other skills, namely reading, listening and writing. Learning to Speak in Elementary School which is given through Indonesian Language subjects. Although learning to Speak has been recognized as an important part of learning Indonesian in elementary schools, in fact speaking learning has received less attention from teachers and students. One of the speaking skills that needs to be asked is the skill in making a speech. For that reason, the researcher conducted a research that aimed to describe the skills of students in grade IV at State of Elementary School 188 Pekanbaru. This research is a descriptive quantitative research conducted at State of Elementary School 188 Pekanbaru with 80 students as research subjects. The instrument used to collect data was the student sample sheet test which contains indicators in making speeches. The results showed that students who got the very skilled category were 17.05%. In the skilled category as much as 31.25%. In the sufficiently skilled category as much as 50%. The students' skills are in the skilled category with an average score of 78.05. [Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah Keterampilan berbicara merupakan salah satu aspek keterampilan berbahasa yang harus dikuasai siswa, selain ketiga keterampilan lain yaitu membaca, menyimak dan menulis. Pembelajaran berbicara di Sekolah Dasar diberikan melalui mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia. Meskipun pembelajaran berbicara telah disadari merupakan bagian penting dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di Sekolah Dasar, namun pada kenyataannya pembelajaran berbicara kurang mendapat perhatian dari guru maupun siswa. Salah satu contoh keterampilan berbicara yang perlu di perhatikan adalah keterampilan dalam berpidato untuk itu peneliti melakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui serta mendeskripsikan keterampilan siswa dalam berpidato di kelas IV di SEKOLAH DASAR Negeri 188 Pekanbaru. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif yang dilakukan di Sekolah Dasar Negeri 188 Pekanbaru dengan subjek penelitian sebanyak 80 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah tes lembar penilaian siswa yang berisikan indikator dalam berpidato. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa siswa yang mendapatkan kategori sangat terampil sebanyak 17.05%. Pada kategor terampil sebanyak 31,25%. Pada kategori cukup terampil sebanyak 50%. Umumnya keterampilan berpidato siswa berada pada kategori terampil dengan nilai rata-rata 78,05]

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai karakter yang terkandung dalam Novel Secret Kingdom Pulau Awan karya Rosie Banks. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Penelitian kualitatif adalah penelitian yang ingin mendeskripsikan wujud nilai karakter. Metode yang digunakan dalam kajian ini dijabarkan kedalam langkah-langkah sesuai dengan tahapan pelaksanaannya, yaitu (1) tahap penyediaan data, (2) tahap analisis data, (3) tahap penyajian analisis data. Dalam penelitian ini, teknik yang digunakan oleh peneliti dalam Pengumpulan data di lakukan dengan teknik baca dan catat. Teknik membaca dilakukan dengan membaca novel secret kingdom karya Rosie Banks. Pada mulanya di lakukan pembacaan keseluruhan terhadap novel tersebut dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui identifikasi secara umum. Setelah itu dilakukan pembacaan secara cermat dan menginterpretasikan unsur pendidikan karakter dalam novel tersebut. Setelah membaca cermat di lakukan pencatatan langkah berikutnya adalah pencatatan yang dilakukan dengan mencatat kutipan secara langsung atau biasa disebut verbatim dari novel yang di teliti.

Abstract

Reading is a skill that must be mastered by elementary school students because it can increase a person's reasoning for that a teacher must be a bridge in transferring knowledge by using teaching materials with DRTA strategies. Research method 4-D development with 4 stages define, design, develop, and disseminate. Teaching materials that have been validated by experts and practitioners with validation results of content eligibility with an average of 88.3 are very valid, linguistic aspects with an average of 91.6 are very valid, presentation aspects with an average of 90 are very valid, and aspe graphic of 87.5 is very valid.. After the validated teaching materials were tested in the class using a quasi-experimental method to obtain an increase in experimental class reading comprehension 18.75% higher than the increase in the control class with a 12.5% increase in class. To test whether there is a significant difference in the gain value tested by using normality and homogeneity tests, after the results are obtained, it is re-tested using the average difference test with the results of t_counts = 0.26 and t_table= 2.00 so that it can be concluded that the ability to read comprehension does not exist significant difference.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine sixth grade students’ misconception on the solar system. This study uses a sampling technique with a total sample of 88 students. This research uses the descriptive quantitative method. This research aims to describe the misconceptions on the material of the solar system in class 6 of public elementary school in Pekanbaru, data collection techniques using the Four Tier Test. The results showed that students' misconceptions were categorized as "medium" with an average of 47.58% of 88 students. The highest misconception on material related to the characteristics of stars with a misconception level of 67.61% with this level can be said that there are still many students who are investigated experiencing misconceptions. The lowest misconception is 27.27%, which is material about the sun as the center of the solar system.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the impact of online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic on pre-service elementary teachers, Riau University. This study uses descriptive quantitative research method. The population is 360 pre-service elementary teachers from PGSD FKIP Riau University, and the sample was 78 pre-service elementary teachers. For the data collection, a questionnaire filled out online using a google form. The questionnaire used a Likert scale. Data processing in the form is indicator of the impact of online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. The indicators are facilities and infrastructure, independent and active, connected, and structured and systematic. Based on the results of the study, the score in the four indicators of the impact of online lectures which on; the facilities and infrastructure indicator got a percentage of 66.48%; the independent and active indicator the percentage of 69.87%; the connectedness indicator the percentage of 75 61%, and the last indicator of structured and systematic, got a percentage of 65.75%. This means that pre-service elementary teachers of Riau University had the impact of the online learning.

Abstract

The background of this research is less active students in the learning process. This study aims to determine the effect of cooperative learning models with the help of Napier bone media on mathematics learning outcomes in multiplication operations of third grade students at SD IT Diniyah Pekanbaru. The subjects of this study were 21 third grade students. The method in this study was pre-experimental using one group pretest posttest design. In this study data were collected using tests that were the initial test (pretest) and the final test (posttest). Based on the results of the hypothesis test obtained t_count = 15.9609 ≥ t_table = 1.7247. It can be concluded that there is an effect of applying cooperative learning models with the help of Napier bone media on mathematics learning outcomes in multiplication operations of third grade students of SD IT Diniyah Pekanbaru.

Abstract

This study aims to develop media in the form of natural motion-based dance learning videos in the Cultural Arts and Craft lessons in elementary schools. The method used is research and development (R&D) using the Four-D model, which are the steps: Define, Design, Development, and Dissemination proposed by Thiagarajan. The R&D  involved material experts, linguists and media experts as expert validators for the developed video. The data collection technique was in the form of a questionnaire. The data analysis technique used was to calculate the average score obtained from the material expert validator, language experts and media experts as well as the average score obtained from the product trial, namely the teacher and student responses. Based on the results of the video validation of natural motion-based dance learning that was developed, the criteria were very feasible with an average percentage of 87.57%. Meanwhile, for product trials, the teacher's response got a score of 91.02% and the student response got a score of 90.23% with a very good category. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the natural motion-based dance learning video has met the criteria of being very feasible and very good, and it can be used in learning dance in recognizing motion in dance, especially for third grade students in elementary schools.

Abstract

The background of this study is caused by third-grade students’ low learning outcome in SDN 161 Pekanbaru. It is indicated by their social science test scores from 24 students. A minimum completeness criterion in this school is 75, but the number of students who score above this criterion is 8 students, and 16 students are below the criteria. The average score is 66.46. To solve this problem, the researchers apply a talking stick cooperative learning model assisted by question box media. This model is believed in supporting teachers in improving the learning activities because it can build a better classroom atmosphere that triggers students’ spirit and make students more active to express their opinions. Media use also makes students more interested in the learning process and stimulate students' emotional and intellectual involvement. This study applies the classroom action research that consists of two cycles. The subject is the third-grade students at SDN 161 Pekanbaru. After the implementation of the classroom action research, students’ learning outcomes increase from 66.46 to 75.83 in the first cycle (increase 14.10%), and 82.92 in the second cycle (increase 24.77% from the initial score). So, the implementation of the talking stick cooperative learning model assisted by question box media can increase third-grade students’ social science learning outcomes in SDN 161 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to describe the teachers’ pedagogic competence at Sekolah dasar Negeri 168 Pekanbaru. This research was conducted on July 2020. The type of this research was quantitative which provided the description about the current condition on the research object which was the teachers’ pedagogic competence at Sekolah dasar Negeri 168 Pekanbaru. The sampling techniques applied in this research was a saturated sampling. The samples of this research were all teachers of ekolah dasar Negeri 168 Pekanbaru amounted 15 teachers. Data were collected through a 71-items questionnaire via google form with the instrument of a positive and negative statement about teachers’ pedagogic competence with four alternative answers. The research results concluded that the teachers’ pedagogic competence at Sekolah dasar Negeri 168 Pekanbaru reached 87.62% with “Very Good” category. The number of core competency who scored in the interval 85-100 with the category of "Very Good" were 7 core competency, at intervals of 70-84 with the category "Good" were 3 core competency, at intervals of 50-69 with the category "Enough" was 0, and at interval of 0-49 with the category "Less" was also 0.
