Abstract

Maintaining environmental sustainability has become the main agenda in today’s world, and so as in hotel industry. In Bali, the number of hotels has been increasing significantly. This growth positively correlates with the use of resources to meet the demand of tourists and the environmental damage, on the other hand. Therefore, the issue of environmentally friendly operation is getting prominent in star rated hotels in Bali.The aim of this research was to find out the relationships between the processes and the benefits of environmental management in star rated hotels in Bali. The important aspects of environmental management was covered in this research, namely: 1) Process of environmental management that consists of energy management, water management, wastewater and solid waste management, chemical waste management, and purchasing products for hotel operations; and 2) The benefits of the environmental management that consists of financial benefits, employee satisfaction, guest satisfaction, and the advantages from promotion and publicity. This research collecting data from 126 star rated hotels around Bali, and the data was analyzed by using SEM (Structural Equation Modeling).The model of environmental management in this research shows that the process of environmental management significantly influence the benefits of environmental management.

Abstract

This quantitative descriptive study describes the entrepreneurship of local snacks food products made by Balinese women, which include the potential of local food for cassava and sweet potatoes, efforts to empower Balinese women in processing potential local food in their region, marketing strategies, adaptability to business activities with domestic activities, constraints in the development of food production businesses, the benefits of the business community, and the public response to local cassava and sweet potato products. The research subjects were Balinese women food entrepreneurs in the area of Buleleng which specialized in processing local cassava and sweet potato food. Research data was collected through interviews, and observations. The study found that Balinese female entrepreneurs develop food products made from local cassava and sweet potato foods, namely traditional snacks and modern snacks, sufficient quality of production, small scale businesses (home industries), using online marketing strategies (through social media), communities business has benefits and an important role for smooth and sustainable business, adaptability of entrepreneurial activities and high domestic tasks. The development of entrepreneurial snacks made from local food made from cassava and sweet potatoes has a great opportunity to develop. The community gave a positive response to snacks from cassava and sweet potatoes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the conditions and institutional role of coconut agribusiness in North Sulawesi; formulate a strategy model for institutional development of coconut agribusiness in North Sulawesi Province. The study was conducted in the highest coconut producing area in North Sulawesi with qualitative methods supported by quantitative data through the use of Structural Conduct Performance (SCP) analysis and Interpretative Structural Modeling analysis. The technique for determining informants is purposive sampling. The grand theory in this research is institutional theory and agribusiness theory. The coconut agribusiness institution in North Sulawesi identified several types that play a role, namely: farmer groups, transportation businesses, universities, banks, cooperatives, field extension workers (ppl), collectors, middlemen, industries, wholesalers and village regulations. Strategies and programs for developing coconut agribusiness institutions in North Sulawesi that refer to the role of tertiary institutions as key sub-elements of the institutional elements involved: a. Training for farmers and institutions involved in coconut agribusiness; b. Provision of experts in running a coconut agribusiness business unit; c. Assistance in each coconut agribusiness business unit.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of tourism on the growth of the agricultural sector, and labor productivity in the agricultural sector. This research was conducted in Bali Province because Bali played a major role in creating the image of Indonesian tourism at national and international levels. This study uses secondary data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency of the Bali Province. To answer the purpose of this study the data were analyzed descriptively and the Panel Data Regression. The province of Bali has always had a GRDP growth above the national level because tourism has a role as a locative economic development. The structure of the Balinese economy has different characteristics from other regions in Indonesia. The excellence of the tourism industry has given its color to the economy in Bali. With the increasing economy, the contribution of the agricultural sector to GRDP has declined, but its role in absorbing labor is still quite large. The results showed that the development of the tourism sector in Bali could increase the growth of the agricultural sector and increase labor productivity in the agricultural sector significantly.

Abstract

Poverty in Indonesia is a very complex and multidimensional problem relating to political, economic, social, and cultural aspects. Most of the families who depend on agricultural products are poor. Even though the role of agriculture in the country's economic development is still very important. Approximately 60% of the population still working in agriculture or still depending on agricultural products for their living. This study aimed to analyze the level of independence of farmers in marketing and processing agricultural products. The research method used includes qualitative and quantitative data types, data sources were primary and secondary data. The population observed was 77 people. The data analysis technique used descriptive analysis and statistical analysis with PLS (Partial Least Square) method. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that farmers of Subak Abian Tri Guna Karya, Kintamani District, Bangli Regency have a good independence level in terms of economy, intellectual, and emotional in processing and marketing their agricultural products.

Abstract

High population growthled to a scarcity of arable land in Indonesia. During 1963-1993 periods, farmer households have increased 1.77% i.e, almost three times than the extend of agricultural land. Soe, the land that is held by the farmer households were not only decreased in its size, but also increased in its inequality. Furthermore, this phenomenon encouraged the existence of share cropping contract. Sharecropping contract is an old institution that was known since Babylonian era ( ± 2300 BC) and still showing controversial issues related to agricultural productivity. Certainly, the institution that was born in along history of mankind could not be easily change, however some modification should be conducted along with the implementation of recent agricultural debelopment programs. The objectives this study was identify the change of sharecropping contract on rice farming along with development of economy in Bali which was also stimulated by development of tourism and to learn weather or not sharecropping contract was contra productive in terms labor used and farming performance. This study was conducted at the subaks area, three within and three others of tourism area. The population was classified into three group, owner-cultivator, non-kinship-sharecrpper, kinship- sharecropper. Farming intensity was measured by the indicator of the used of labor and inputs, whereas farm performance will be evaluated by land productivity and farm income. This study reveals that the more developed economy within a region, the better sharecropper’ s bargaining position. Furthermore, kinship-sharecropping contract was as not bad as the general opinion that is not agreed to sharesropping contract. Labor utilization and farm performance both in kinship sharecropping were consistent with enforceable contract that is led to optimizing input allocation. From the view points of owners-sharecropping relationships it was indicated that the owners held control upon the allocation of farm inputs.

Abstract

The outcomes of tourism in relation to the environmental sustainability is to preserve nature, environment, and resources availablity. Therefore, the obligation to maintain sustainability of environmental are become a top agenda for the managers of the star-rated hotels. In line with this spirit the high growth of hotel and tourist arrival in Bali correlated with the high of resources use to meet the demand of hotel guests, it will affect to the environment of hotel and the environmental of Bali. This study surveyed 126 star hotels in Bali (which consists of four (4) one-star hotels, ten (10) two-star hotels, thirty-nine (39) three-star hotels, twenty-four (24) four-star hotels, and forty-nine (49) five star hotels, using a questionnaire, where the alternative answer used the seven (7) options, and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and structural equation modelling (SEM). This study successfully established a significant model that describes the relationship between environmental issues, environmental management processes, and the benefits of environmental management processes in star rated hotels in Bali. Also the results of this research demonstrate that: 1. There is a significant relationship between environmental issues to the process of environmental management at star rated hotels in Bali, and 2. There is a significant relationship between the process of environmental management to the the benefits of environmental management processes of the star rated hotels in Bali. Furthermore, the issues of environment is consists of: a. The issue of pressure from tour operator, b. The issue of customer and tourists pressure, and c. The issue of climate change. Then the environmental management process of hotel consists of: a. The wastewater management process, b. The solid waste management processes, and c. The chemical management processes, and finally the benefits of environmental management processes in star hotels are consists of: a. The sustaining the hospitality industry, b. The contribution to community development, and c. The satisfaction of the guests at star rated hotels in Bali. In accordance with these results is it suggested that every hotels are encouraged to do the process of environmental management because through this process, hotel will have a better relationship with the community, it had the preferred of tourists trend, it had became more prudent in term of resources use as a sustainable environmental efforts, and finally these can contribute to preserving the assets of the world for future generations.

Abstract

Abstract Marketing Strategies of Organic Fertilizers at PT Biotek Indonesia Hijau to improve the Performance of the Company This study aimed at identifying and determining the internal environment (strengths and weaknesses) and the external environment (opportunities and threats), the position of the business and marketing strategies that should be implemented by PT BIH based on the current position of the company. The method of analysis used in this study was the analysis of the corporate environment, which consists of a matrix of IFE (Internal Factor Evaluation), EFE matrix analysis (External Factor Evaluation), and analysis of the BCG matrix (Boston Consulting Group). The results of the analysis of the IFE matrix was that PT BIH had a score of 2.50. The results of the analysis of EFE matrix was that PT BIH had a score of 3.15. BCG matrix analysis through the analysis of market growth rate and relative market share, it is known that in 2013 Biobali had a growth rate of 2.30% and the market value of the relative market share of 2.40%. PT BIH position was in the cell of Cash Cows. This means that companies with a market share is relatively large and at the same time only operate at a low market or not grow. Based on the position of the company, it can be produced alternative strategies that should be applied to the company, the product development strategy Product Development Strategy and Concentric diversification strategy.   Keywords: Marketing Strategy, Organic Fertilizer, IFE, EFE, BCG.
