Abstract

Glagahwero is one of the largest mushroom producers in Jember, though still lack of production. This research aims to determine factors of production, optimization of production factors, and profit by using optimal production factor. This research was conducted in Glagahwero Village with 32 samples of mushroom farmer. The samples were selected using total sampling method. Data were analyzed using cobb douglas production function to know the factors that significantly influence the production and value of the optimum input use of mushroom farming, and profit analysis to know the comparison of profit value by using the optimum production factor. The results showed that the area of kumbung, seedlings, straw and labor significantly influenced the production of mushroom in Glagahwero but the use of those factors were not optimal (ratio of NPMxi / Pxi> 1), it is necessary to add the amount of production factor use to reach optimal value. The value of profit by using the optimal production factor will be greater than using the actual production factor. The results of this study then become basis in conducting mushroom farming in Glagahwero Village optimally by taking into account the amount of input that use.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persediaan bahan baku usahatani jamur merang, tingkat pemesanan kembali bahan baku usahatani jamur merang dan nilai tambah usahatani jamur merang di Paguyuban Kaola Mandiri Kabupaten Jember. Lokasi penelitian ini ditentukan dengan purposive method, yaitu di Desa Rambipuji Kecamatan Rambipuji Kabupaten Jember. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode deskriptif dan analitis. Metode pengambilan sampel yaitu menggunakan purposive sampling dengan sampel 16 orang. 15 orang di budidaya dan 1 orang sebagai pelaku pengolahan blanching. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu primer dengan menggunakan kuisioner dan wawancara, sekunder yaitu BPS, Dinas Pertanian Kabupaten Jember, buku dan jurnal. Sedangkan analisis data yaitu Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), Reorder Point (ROP), dan nilai tambah hayami. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan persediaan bahan baku adalah ekonomis, hal ini ditunjukkan oleh kebutuhan bahan baku yang lebih kecil dari nilai EOQ. Tingkat pemesanan kembali jerami tidak ekonomis, sedangkan benih ekonomis, hal ini ditunjukkan oleh hasil ROP jerami lebih besar dari EOQ Jerami sedangkan benih Hasil ROP lebih kecil dari EOQ benih. Nilai tambah yang diperoleh menunjukkan nilai positif.This study aims to determine the raw material inventory of merang mushroom farming, the rate of re-ordering of raw material for mushroom farming and the added value of mushroom farming in Paguyuban Kaola mandiri Jember Regency. The location of this study was determined by purposive method, namely in Rambipuji Village, Rambipuji District, Jember Regency. The research method used is descriptive and analytical method. The sampling method is using purposive sampling with a sample of 16 people. 15 people involved in cultivation and another person in blanching processing. Data collection techniques are primary using questionnaires and interviews, secondary, namely BPS, Jember District Agricultural Service, books and journals. While data analysis is the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), Reorder Point (ROP), and added value of Hayami. The results of the study show that raw material inventories are economical, this is indicated by the need for raw materials that are smaller than the EOQ value. The rate of re-ordering of straw is not economical, while the seeds are economical, this is indicated by the results of straw ROP greater than EOQ Straw while the seeds of ROP results are smaller than EOQ seeds. The added value obtained is positive.

Abstract

Contract farming (CF) is an important tool to initiate structural transformation of agricultural sector in developing countries. However, one of pertinent problems in its establishment is asymmetric information. This problem creates a condition of mutual distrust between the contracting parties and decreases farmer’s participation in it. Thus, this study aimed to explain the asymmetric information problem in CF and find the correlates of farmer’s participation in it. As one of important industrial crops, this study focused on tobacco CF. This study was conducted at two villages (Antirogo and Nogosari) on two different sub-district (Sumbersari and Rambipuji) in Jember. A sample of 113 farmers were interviewed to collect the data. A descriptive analysis was used to explain the contract arrangement and asymmetric information in tobacco CF. A probit estimation was used to identify the coorelates of farmer’s participation in tobacco CF. The results showed that asymetric information does exists in tobacco CF and can be minimized through intense monitoring and increased transparancy. Both of these are possible when the company contracting directly with farmers. Meanwhile, younger farmer and those with more land are more likely to participate in CF. Furthermore, participation in CF is highly correlated with the increases in farm income. Finally, policy aimed to fostering CF should focused more on regulation that minimize the transaction cost of CF. In addition, in the long term, the policy should focused on incentivize young farmers and encouraging youth to enter agriculture.

Abstract

The integrated value chain is a prerequisite for the successful industrialization of the agricultural sector. Contract farming (CF) is a useful instrument to integrate the agricultural value chain in developing countries such as Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to identify the determinants of farmer participation in sugarcane contract farming. The data utilized in this study was obtained from the Indonesian Plantation Farm Household Survey 2014 for Sugarcane. The data consists of 8.831 farmers distributed in 8 provinces. Logistic regression was used to estimate the determinants of farmer participation in sugarcane CF. The result shows that age, education, and type of cultivated land negatively affect farmer participation in sugarcane CF. Meanwhile, land tenure, cultivation area, cropping system, certified seed, membership in a cooperative, access to extension services, and membership in farmer’s association positively affect farmer participation in sugarcane CF. The policy implication for increasing farmer participation in CF is to intensify the information of CF to the farmer with a large cultivation area. Since these farmers tend to participate in CF to anticipate marketing risks.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence consumer decisions in buying branded and unbranded white sugar, to determine the level of consumer satisfaction with branded and unbranded white sugar and to determine the factors that influence the level of consumer satisfaction with branded and unbranded white sugar in Jember Regency. This research was conducted using 200 respondents. The analysis tools used are logistic regression analysis, CSI analysis (Customer Satisfaction Index) and factor analysis. The results showed that the factors that significantly influence consumer decisions in buying branded and unbranded white sugar are income and number of family members. The CSI measurement results show that the consumer satisfaction index of unbranded and unbranded white sugar is in the fulfilled criteria, with a CSI value of 74.48% for branded and 70.30% for unbranded sugar. The results of the factor analysis show that there are three new factors related to the satisfaction level of consumers of branded and unbranded white sugar, namely the money value factor (product cleanliness and sugar prices), availability considerations factor (house distance, the ease of obtaining sugar, advertising, information from friends and information from family), and brand attribute factor (brand, color, packaging design and packaging weight).

Abstract

ABSTRACTBeans (Phaseolusvulgaris .L.)have been known as an important vegetable for a long time. Although the use ofgreen beans as daily consumptiontendsto decline, the demandas rawmaterial in agribusinessindustryandotherstendsto increase. This situation open the opportunity for PT. Benih CitraAsia (BCA),a horticulture breeding company, to collaborate with farmers producingseeds including green beans seedthrough contract farming arrangement. This research aims to identify opportunities andbenefits of involving in a contractfarming arrangement for farmers, factorsaffecting income,income’s value and farm management cost efficiency. This research was conducted in Wuluhan Sub District, Jember Regency. The data was analyzedby using SWOTanalysis, the multiplier linear regression model, income analysis andR/Cratio. Resultsshowed that: (1) contract-farming arrangement located in SWOT whitearea(ideal). It also indicated that there was strongopportunityandbenefit for both parties involved. (2) Seed cost (X2), fertilizer costs(X3), labor costs(X5) andtotalproduction(X6) were found as factors influencing farmers’ income with significant level of 95%. (3) The average income per hectare of beans farming in Wuluhan Sub District Jember Regency was Rp.5.248.213,10. (4) R/C ratio of this farm management was more than one (1,43),it indicated that the using of cost in green beans farm management was efficient. Keywords: contractfarming, incomefactors, cost efficiency, income.

Abstract

Karet adalah komoditas perkebunan strategis yang memiliki peranan ekonomi yang signifikan bagi petani dan bagi Negara sebagai penyumbang devisa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) Kelayakan finansial dan teknis usaha karet; (2) sensitivitas terhadap penurunan harga output, penurunan produksi dan kenaikan harga input; (3) strategi pengembangan. Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan wawancara dan pengumpulan data produksi tahun 2015. PTPN VII Unit Padang Pelawi Bengkulu merupakan perusahaan yang melakukan kegiatan onfarm hingga offarm karet. Produk yang dihasilkan adalah SIR 20. Hasil penelitian menggunakan analisis Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Benefit and Cost Ratio (B/C Ratio) dan Payback Period (PP) dengan tingkat bunga sebesar 6,75% menunjukkan bahwa perusahaan secara finansial layak. Analisis sensitivitas untuk menguji tingkat sensitivitas proyek terhadap penurunan produksi sebesar 5%, penurunan harga output sebesar 5% dan kenaikan harga input sebesar 6% menunjukkan perusahaan tidak sensitif dan strategi pengembangan PTPN VII Unit Padang Pelawi Bengkulu adalah memaksimalkan sumber daya alam dan tenaga kerja. Kelayakan usaha karet PTPN VII Unit Padang Pelawi Bengkulu layak untuk dilanjutkan.

Abstract

Osteoporosis can be prevented by consuming calcium lactate. Calcium that is consumed is generally in a micro-size. Micro-sized calcium is only absorbed by the body by about 50% which can cause deficiency. Eggshells are poultry waste that is rich in calcium and can be used as a cheap source of dietary calcium through nanotechnology. Nanotechnology has been developed to increase calcium absorption. This study aimed to synthesize nano-calcium lactate from chicken eggshells,and commercial calcium oxide by precipitation method. Synthesis was carried out by reacting a solution of 1 mol/L eggshell calcium oxide and commercial calcium oxide (control) as much as 20 ml mixed with a solution of 6 mol/L lactic acids as much as 30 ml with a ratio of 1:1.5 (v/v) for 30 minutes at 50°C at a speed of 500 rpm/minute using a magnetic stirrer. Ethanol 50% was added as much as 20 ml (v/v), oven-dried at 105°C for 72 hours then crushed to produce eggshell nano-calcium lactate (NCaL) powder. Characterisation of NCaL using Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR). Result showed that NCaL in the form of white crystals could be synthesized from chicken eggshells by precipitation method. Characterization with XRD showed that the diffraction angle was 2θ with the peaks of NCaL, namely 9.3800°, 10.3869°, and 22.9570°. Characterization with FTIR obtained a peak in the wavenumber from NCaL, namely 1,589.34 cm-1. Characterization using TEM showed that the crystal size of NCaL was 75 nm.

Abstract

[ENGLISH] Beef is kind of food products that have nutrition value to complete the protein needs for human. Supply chain of beef is a concept that have regulatory system related to the product flow, the financial flow and the information flow in the process of beef cattle distribution into beef. The research is intended to: (1) identify the product flow, the financial flow, and the information flow in supply chain of beef; (2) determine the level of marketing efficiency; and (3) determine the value added in slaugtered process of beef cattle. This research used descriptive and analytic methods. The analysis method of sampling is purposive sampling and snowball sampling. The analysis method of data used are marketing efficiency analysis, marketing margin analysis, and value added analysis with Hayami method. The result analysis showed that: (1) there are three flows in supply chain of beef in Jember Regency that are the product flow, the financial flow and the information flow that is not optimal; (2) the distribution channel of beef in Jember Regency is efficient that showed value of marketing efficiency, profitable of marketing margin (Ski>Sbi) and proportioned of shared value that according to the contributions from each chain, and (3) the average of value added is Rp 33.144,68/kg or 36,25 % of the total output value. Keywords: Beef; Marketing Efficiency; Hayami Value Added; Supply Chain [INDONESIAN] Daging sapi merupakan salah satu produk pangan yang memiliki nilai gizi untuk memenuhi kebutuhan protein bagi masyarakat. Rantai pasokan atau supply chain daging sapi merupakan suatu konsep yang memiliki sistem pengaturan yang berkaitan dengan aliran produk, aliran keuangan dan aliran informasi dalam proses distribusi sapi potong hidup menjadi daging sapi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui aliran produk, aliran keuangan dan aliran informasi pada rantai pasokan daging sapi; (2) mengetahui tingkat efisiensi pemasaran; dan (3) mengetahui nilai tambah pada proses pemotongan sapi potong. Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dan analitik. Metode pengambilan contoh dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik purposive sampling dan snowball sampling. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu analisis efisiensi pemasaran, analisis dan margin pemasaran, analisis nilai tambah dengan metode Hayami. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa: (1) terdapat 3 aliran dalam rantai pasokan daging sapi di Kabupaten Jember yaitu aliran produk, aliran keuangan dan aliran informasi yang tidak berjalan dengan optimal; (2) saluran distribusi daging sapi di Kabupaten Jember adalah efisien berdasarkan nilai efisiensi pemasaran, margin pemasaran yang menguntungkan (Ski>Sbi) dan shared value yang proporsional sesuai dengan kontribusi yang diberikan setiap mata rantai; dan (3) rata-rata nilai tambah yang diperoleh sebesar Rp 33.144,68/kg atau 36,24 % dari total output yang dihasilkan. Abstract

[ENGLISH] There are three commonly known types of sugar, white crystal sugar, refined crystal sugar, and raw crystal sugar. Of those three, the first two are the types of sugar produced in Indonesia. The objectives of the research were: to find out (1) the sugar production and import trends in Indonesia, (2) the factors that affect the white crystal sugar import in Indonesia, (3) the import elasticity of each factor that affect the number of sugar imported based on the demand and supply variable. This research was subject for Indonesia scope regarding the national production and import of sugars. The selection of the areas of the research was conducted purposively using the purposive method The data used in this research was secondary data. The result of the research showed that: (1) The trend of sugar production and import in Indonesia during the span of ten years (2012-2016) tend to increase, (2) The factors that factually affecting the policy of the sugar import in Indonesia were the previous year import, sugar consumption, and international sugar price, per capita income and the domestic sugar reserve, (3) The elasticity on the domestic sugar reserve variable, previous year import, adjustment on per capita income, and the consumption of sugar to import, which substantially inelastic. In contrast, the elasticity value of the international sugar price to the sugar impor in Indonesia, which translated as elastic, respectively. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah : (1) Untuk mengetahui trend produksi dan impor gula di Indonesia (2) Untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi  impor gula kristal putih di Indonesia (3) Untuk mengetahui elastisitas impor masing-masing faktor yang berpengaruh pada besarnya impor gula dilihat dari segi permintaan dan penawarannya. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan lingkup Indonesia mengenai produksi dan impor gula nasional. Penentuan daerah penelitian ini ditentukan secara sengaja (purposive method). Jenis data yang digunakan yaitu data sekunder. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Trend produksi gula dan impor gula di Indonesia selama kurun waktu sepuluh tahun dari tahun 2012-2016 cenderung meningkat, (2) Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi impor gula di Indonesia berpengaruh secara nyata terhadap impor gula di Indonesia adalah impor tahun sebelumnya, konsumsi gula, dan harga gula internasional, perubahan pendapatan per kapita dan stok gula domestik, (3) Elastisitas pada variabel stok dalam negeri, impor tahun sebelumnya, perubahan pendapatan per kapita, dan konsumsi gula terhadap impor gula di Indonesia bersifat inelastis, sedangkan nilai elastisitas harga gula internasional terhadap impor gula di Indonesia bersifat elastis.
