Abstract

The purpose of this study was to (1) describe the current condition of implementation of inclusive education in primary schools, (2) to develop a model of inclusive education management, and (3) to examine the effectiveness of the management model of inclusive education in primary schools. Method of Research and Development (R & D) was used in this study, with the following stages: (1) a preliminary study to see the existing implementation of inclusive education in elementary schools through literature review and field study, (2) developing a model of inclusive education management, and (3) examining  the effectiveness of inclusive education management model. This research was conducted in 51 inclusive schools located in four districts namely; Surakarta, Boyolali, Sukoharjo, and Karanganyar. The subject of this research consisted of principals, class teachers, students with special needs education (SNE), students without SNE, and school committee. The results of the preliminary study concluded (1) the use of existing performance indicators principals and teachers, the implementation of inclusive education in primary schools did not meet the expected criteria, (2) one of the most widely perceived obstacle is the unavailability of standardized management of inclusive schools, (3) response of the school committee, students with SNE, and students without SNE to inclusive education category is quite positive, (4) the inclusive schools did not run functions and aspects of school management adequately, (5) the schools urgently needed guide management of inclusive education. The final product of the development of inclusive education management model requires that inclusive schools run the four functions of management; planning, organizing, implementing, and controlling, by combining the nine aspects of school management in terms of institutional management, curriculum, teaching process, evaluation, student, facilities, human resources, public participation and financing. To run the management model of inclusive education effectively, guide book on inclusive education management should be provided. The result of the evaluation by principals and teachers indicated that inclusive education management model was very effective. From the result, it is recommended that the guide book be disseminated for use as a guideline in the management of inclusive education in elementary schools in Indonesia.

Abstract

The study aims to: describe the design of the training model, obtain the experimental results of the model, and investigate the effectiveness of the training model. This study employs the approach of Research and Development (R&D). The stages are: undergoing a preliminary study, setting up the empirical models based on the results of the preliminary analysis, drafting the hypothetical model based on the empirical models, designing validation by some experts, improving the model design, testing the effectiveness of hypothetical models, refining the hypothetical model into a finding model. The data are collected through observation, interview, questionnaire, and documentation. The descriptive data are analyzed qualitatively and analytically, using a paired t-test at a significance level of 5%. The model is equipped with a manual book of management training as its outcome product. The hypothetical model validation results show: the model performs very high effectiveness toward the mean score of teachers’ ability in designing entrepreneurship learning based on production unit after the application of the model at the score of 4.89 and before the application of the model at 1.36. The t value = 36,085> t table = 2.776 at 0.05 significance level, the difference of mean scores of instructional practices in schools for trained and untrained teachers at SMK 1 Jepara is at 4.83 and 1.83; SMK Kedung is at 4.83 and 1.50; SMK Kalinyamatan is at 4.67 and 1.67; SMK Pakis Aji is at 4.83 and 1.67, and SMK Muhammadiyah Keling is at 4.33 and 1.50. The evaluation results of the hypothetical model effectiveness based on its mean score is at 4.26 (very high) over 13 indicators. The study concludes that the training model of entrepreneurship learning based on production unit is effective to improve the quality of teachers in teaching entrepreneurship.

Abstract

Military Academy has just changed its learning management from the lesson hours system to a semester credit system and is searching for a suitable model. This study is intended to analyze the existing learning management, to develop a suitable model based on the semester credit system, and to measure its applicability. This study adopts a research and development design. The data are collected from informants, events and documents by using interviews, observation and  documents, and analyzed by reduction, display and  drawing conclusion. The results of the study show that the learning management based on the semester credit system in Military Academy is currently implemented by using three basic patterns, by maintaining the ranks and levels of the cadets, by providing Study Plan Cards and Study Results Cards, by using effective information technology, academic supervision and academic guidelines. The applicability tests show that the developed learning management model is effectively implemented. There are some weaknesses of the developed learning management so improvement on administration and  information technology should be made. It is suggested that stakeholders should make some adjustment, provide an acceleration program for the cadets with GPA of more than 3.5 and adapt the curriculum with recent development.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze factors that influence the awareness in student entrepreneurship. The research took the form of a survey of 140 final-year students at the Indonesia Tourism Economics College (STIEPARI) Semarang who were or had taken an internship program. The benefits of Mobile Learning were measured by students' perceptions in gaining knowledge, experience, and social motivation about entrepreneurship. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results of this study generally show that in entrepreneurship education through an apprenticeship program, the perception about the benefits of M-Learning and that of entrepreneurship feasibility have a significant effect on the interest in entrepreneurship both directly and through perception of entrepreneurial desires. The total influence of entrepreneurship education variables through the apprenticeship program shows that the path coefficient is greater than the perception variable on benefits so that M-Learning only functions as a support for entrepreneurship education in an internship program to increase students' entrepreneurial interest. The results of this study have implications for the development of electronic learning through M-Learning to support entrepreneurial learning. M-Learning, for example, has the potential to provide independent learning, opportunities for sharing knowledge, problem solving-based experiences, and entrepreneurial motivational facilities, solving the problem of busy time mentors in the industrial environment, and learning that is not limited to space and time.

Abstract

This research focuses on the development of pesantren-based soft skill education management model in vocational school. The researchers have reviewed curriculum changes, ranging from the active-student learning curriculum (CBSA), competence-based curriculum (KBK), school-based curiculum or Education Unit Level Curriculum (KTSP) to 2013 Curriculum (K13), and changes in the education management paradigm starting from the concept of teachin-learning strategies, soft skill management, to Community Based Education Management. In Permendiknas Number 23 of 2006 concerning Graduates' Competency Standards for Primary and Secondary Education Units, soft skill gets a more dominant portion than hard skill. Conceptually, the indicators in Permendiknas Number 23 Year 2006 should be sufficient for SMK students to be fully aware of the formation of a noble person. However, in reality there are still many gaps regarding the achievement of the Graduates Competency Standards (SKL). Thus, reconstruction is needed in the learning process in Vocational Schools especially in the achievement of these soft skills. Therefore, managerial approaches are needed; one of which is the pesantren-based soft skills education management model. It is a model with a noble moral development approach for students who live in boarding schools. The learning and guidance model in Islamic boarding school (Pesantren) is applied in vocational schools without leaving the culture of the Islamic boarding school.
