Abstract

The purpose of this research is to produce research based textbook on Cell Biology of by using bioinformatics approaches. This study adapted the ADDIE development model. Feasibility of the textbook is based on the results of product testing by experts and small groups. Types of data collected is quantitative and qualitative data. The collected data have analyzed by quantitative and qualitative descriptive. The tests conducted by subject matter experts gave validity percentage of 93.15 %, an expert assessment of the media at 88.64 %, while a small group votes for 87.5 %. Based on the validation results, the textbook that has been developed is very valid and feasible to be used.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan buku ajar Biologi SEl dengan pendekatan Bioinformatika. Penelitian ini mengadaptasi model pengembangan ADDIE. Kelayakan buku ajar didasarkan pada hasil uji coba produk oleh tim ahli dan kelompok kecil. Jenis data yang dikumpulkan adalah data kuantitatif dan data kualitatif. Data yang telah terkumpul dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil validasi yang dilakukan oleh ahli materi memberikan nilai persentase kevalidan buku ajar sebesar 93.15%, penilaian dari ahli media sebesar 88.64%. sedangkan penilaian uji perorangan sebesar 87.5%. Berdasarkan hasil validasi maka buku ajar yang dikembangkan dikategorikan sangat valid dan layak untuk dipergunakan.

Abstract

Abstract: This research is a quantitative descriptive study. This study aims to test the feasibility of the module bioethanol based on  Eucheuma cottonii a basis for bioethanol including  module design validity test by expert module expert lecturers, the material validity test by expert lecturers in bioethanol, the practicality of the module by lecturers at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta, legibility by 20 students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. The data collection method used is the questionnaire and then analyzed on a percentage scale. The module feasibility test results show that this module is very feasible with a score of 93.18% and it can be concluded that this module is suitable for use.Abstrak: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitaif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengujii kelayakan modul bioethanol berbasis penelitian Eucheuma cottonii sebagai bahan dasar bioethanol meliputi uji validitas desain modul oleh ahli dosen ahli modul, uji validitas materi oleh dosen ahli dibidang bioetanol, kepraktisan modul oleh dosen di Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, keterbacaan oleh 18 mahasiswa di Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Metode pengambilan data yang digunakan yaitu kuisioner kemudian dianalisis dengan skala persentase. Hasil tes kelayakan modul menunjukkan modul ini sangat layak dengan skor 93,18% dan dapat disimpulkan modul ini layak untuk digunakan.

Abstract

The purpose of this study include: (1) analyze the quality of nata de sap of palm with a wide variety and concentration of sugar in terms of weight and fiber content nata; (2) develop a handout materials for students of class XII Biotechnology MAN Pamekasan based on research results; and (3) analyze the quality of handouts developed as the implementation of research results. The research method there are two stages of experiment and development. Research conducted at the Laboratory of Microbiology Faculty UM Malang in January-March 2013. The results showed that: (1) there is a wide influence on the quality of sugar palm sap nata de nata either by weight or fiber content; (2) No effect of sugar concentration on the quality of nata de sap siwalan both based on the weight of nata and fiber content; (3) handout Biotechnology has been eligible for use in helping Biology teaching and learning activities in MAN Pamekasan with excellent qualifications based on an assessment by experts validator Microbiology and excellent materials based on an assessment by experts validator teaching materials.Keywords:        nata de nira siwalan, quality, research based handout

Abstract

Siwalan (Borassus flabellifer L.) is widespread in Pamekasan one in the village Kertagenah Laok Kadur district. Potential abundant palm still has the potential to be developed into a usefull and economically product one is nata de nira siwalan. Quality of nata can be influenced by the type and concentration of sugar. The result of this research could be developed into teaching materials in the form of handouts for class XII students MAN Pamekasan. Purpose of this study stated to produce Biotechnology handout for XII students of MAN Pamekasan. This research is conduc-ted by 2 step that is experimental research and developing handout based on the result of experimental study. Expe-rimental research is aim to assess the influence of type and concentration of sugar to the weight of nata de nira siwalan. Result of this research showed that there is significant effect of type and concentration of sugar on the quality of nata de nira siwalan by fiber content of nata layer. Biotechnology handout was fit for use in assisting the teaching and learning activity with the percentage <p> 96,96% by an Microbiology expert and 96,05% by teaching materials expert.Keywords : nata de nira siwalan, macam gula, handout, bioteknologi

Abstract

Tanaman cengkeh Afo induk dari Pulau Ternate memiliki kapang endofit yang perlu diidentifikasi terlebih dahulu jenis-jenisnya sehingga dapat dieksplorasi kemanfaatannnya melalui penelitian lebih lanjut dari masing-masing jenis kapang yang terisolasi dan teridentifikasi tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan melakukan isolasi dan identifikasi morfologi kapang endofit yang hidup di dalam tanaman cengkeh Afo dari Pulau Ternate. Isolasi kapang endofit dilakukan dengan media Potato Dextrose Agar. Identifikasi dilakukan dengan metode slide culture dengan media Czapex Agar. Hasil penelitian ini berhasil mengidentifikasi 8 spesies kapang endofit, yaitu Rhizoctonia sp, Diplococcium sp, Geotricum candidum, Aspergillus nidulans, Eurotium repens, Eupenicillium javanicum, dan Penicillium frequentans.Keywords:        isolasi, identifikasi, kapang, endofit, cengkeh Afo

Abstract

Students experiencing difficulty in learning and applying the material in the course of Engineering Analysis Molecular Biology (TABM) because it is abstract. To overcome these problems, the necessary teaching materials in the form of modules TABM to assist students in learning the material contained in the course. The process of preparation of the modulesadapt the model of R & D were prepared by Walter Dick and Lou Carey (Dick et al, 2009). Modules are developed then evaluated by two experts teaching materials with a minimum educational qualification S3 with teaching experience of more than 5 years, and 18 students who are candidates for S1 and have to take TABM a course at the State University of Malang (UM). Based on the results of an expert evaluation of teaching materials and students as a whole, it can be concluded that the introduction module components, content , and grammar demonstrated excellent qualifications module so it can be concluded that the module does not need to be revised and can be used as a teaching material support for TABM course in State University of Malang ( UM ) . Keywords:teaching material, module, TABM

Abstract

Abdopus aculeatus has good camouflage capabilities in nature. The objective of this study is to obtain information on the camouflage behavior of Abdopus aculeatus in nature (in situ). We used an explorative description to observe the camouflage behavior of 24 octopus samples at a number of points on the Panjang Island, Buton Regency. Abdopus aculeatus was identified molecularly using a mtDNA COI blast to determine the target species of observation. Any of the camouflage behavior found was documented and analyzed descriptively. Generally, there are four forms of observations for camouflage behavior; matching body color to wide array of natural background, immersing itself in the sand, resembling a specific object, and being part of the objects surrounding. The various camouflages patterns obtained show a process of defense evolution in minimizing the detection of predators or octopus prey.

Abstract

Keterampilan berpikir kritis sangat diperlukan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Pendidikan tinggi memiliki peranan dalam memberdayakan keterampilan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keterampilan berpikir kritis mahasiswa dalam perkuliahan zoologi di STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan berupa metode survei. Responden dalam penelitian melibatkan 114 mahasiswa biologi yang telah mengambil mata kuliah zoologi. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan lembar angket. Analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nilai rerata yang diperoleh dari hasil penelitian survei dalam bentuk narasi dan persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan keterampilan berpikir kritis mahasiswa biologi dalam kategori sangat kurang. Indikator berpikir kritis menunjukkan 25,44% mahasiswa mampu memberikan argumen, 40,35% dapat mengajukan pertanyaan dengan benar, 13,16% mampu menjawab pertanyaan yang menantang dan 21,93% dapat menjawab pertanyaan berdasarkan sumber. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pemberdayaan keterampilan berpikir kritis mahasiswa pada perkuliahan zoologi di STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang belum optimal.Profile of Students Critical Thinking Skills in Zoology. The critical thinking skills are necessary for everyday life, therefore, higher education has a role in empowering of critical thinking skills. This research aims to students' critical thinking skills in zoology learning at STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang. The research was survey method. Respondents in this research were 114 biology students who had taken zoology courses. The research instrument was a questionnaire. Data analysis using descriptive analysis that aims to describe the average value obtained from survey research results in the form of narration and percentage. The results show that the overall average value of critical thinking skills was classified as a very low category. The results of the questionnaire show that the average value of student give argument skill was 25.44%, ask questions correctly was 40.35%, answer challenging questions was 13.16% and answer questions by the source was 21.93%. These results provide the conclusion that the empowerment of critical thinking skills of students in zoology learning at STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang has not been optimal.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian dan pengembangan ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan bahan ajar IPA berbasis inkuiri untuk kelas V SD. Bahan ajar ini berupa bahan ajar siswa dan pegangan guru berbasis inkuiri yang sahih atau valid, efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar dan keterampilan proses sains siswa dan praktis digunakan oleh siswa dan guru. Peneliti mengembangkan bahan ajar menggunakan model penelitian dan pengembangan modifikasi Borg and Gall (2003). Adapun tahapan yang dilalui terdiri dari 6 langkah, yakni: 1) studi pendahuluan; 2) perencanaan; 3) pengembangan; 4) validasi; 5) uji coba; 6) produk akhir.Hasil validasi ahli bahan ajar IPA berbasis inkuiri mendapatkan perolehan sebesar 97.56% terhadap isi/materi, 92.39% terhadap bahasa, dan 81.25% terhadap desain bahan ajar. Hasil uji coba kelas terbatas menunjukkan perolehan hasil belajar siswa sebesar 88.7 dan 100% siswa telah mencapai KKM, serta persentase keterampilan proses sains siswa sebesar 78.51%. Selain itu persentase kepraktisan yang diperoleh adalah 89.59% bagi siswa dan 92.85% bagi guru. Berdasarkan paparan data tersebut, bahan ajar IPA berbasis inkuiri layak digunakan karena telah dikategorikan sangat valid, efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar dan keterampilan proses siswa, serta praktis digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran IPA pada kelas Vb di SDN 4 Praya.Kata Kunci: bahan ajar, IPA, inkuiri, hasil belajar, keterampilan proses sainsAbstract: The aim of this research and development is to produce science’s teaching material based on inquiry which is valid and effective in improving student’s achievement and science’s process skill and also practically used for student and teacher. Researcher developed this instructional material by using a modified model of research and development by Borg and Gall (2003). The 6 phases of this model are: 1) preliminary study, 2) planning, 3) development, 4) validation, 5) trials and 6) final product. The results of the expert validation acquired 97.56% for the contents/material, 92.39% for the language, and 81.25% for the design. The trial results of limited class shown student learning outcomes at 88.7 and 100% of students achieved KKM, and also the percentage of student’s science process skills is 78.51%. In addition, the percentage of practicality for students is 89.59% and 92.85% for teachers. Based on data, science’s teaching material based on inquiry effective in improving student achievement and science process skills and also practical use in the process of learning science at class Vb SDN 4 Praya.Keywords: teaching materials, science, inquiry, learning, science process skills

Abstract

The aims of this study are to describe the learning process in animal structure courses and learning outcomes obtained by students of Biology Education Study Program, Teachers Training and Education Faculty, Siliwangi University Tasikmalaya after attending lectures. The research method used is survey data collection using a questionnaire. As many as 60 students who have attended and graduated in animal structure lectures in the 4th semester of the 2014/2015 academic year were used as research samples. Samples were taken using simple random sampling technique from a population of 90 students. Then the data obtained is processed using descriptive statistics. The results of the study show that students have an interest in animal structure courses, especially in practical activities. The implementation of learning in animal structure courses has not been carried out optimally. The indication is from the non-socialization of the learning model used by lecturers which has an impact on various generic skills that are not maximally trained and developed.
