Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The  aims of the research were  to find out  the correlation  between: 1) memory ability with cognitive learning achievement of biology of student of SMA Negeri 2 Madiun in academic year of 2011/2012, 2) learning motivation of biology with cognitive learning achievement  of biology  of student  of SMA Negeri  2 Madiun in academic year of 2011/2012,3) memory ability and learning motivation of biology with  cognitive learning achievement  of student  of SMA Negeri  2 Madiun in academic year of 2011/2012. This  is  a correlational research.  The population  taken  were all of the students of SMA Negeri  2 Madiun  in academic year of 2011/2012. The sample was taken among  676  samples of student using  stratified  random sampling technique.  Documentation technique was used to uncover student?s  cognitive learning achievement  and memory ability was measured by using testtechnique. While learning motivation of biology was measured by using questionnaire technique.  The obtained data was analysed using linier regression analysis in SPSS 16. The results  showed that (1)  there was a  positive  correlation between memory ability with cognitive learning achievement of biology ofstudentof SMA Negeri  2 Madiun  in academic year of 2011/2012, 2)  there was a  positive correlation between  learning motivation of biology  with  cognitive learning achievement  of biology ofstudentof SMA Negeri  2 Madiun  in academic year of 2011/2012,  3)  there was a  positive  correlation between  memory ability  and learning motivation of biology with  cognitive learning achievement  of biology of student of SMA Negeri  2 Madiun  in academic year of 2011/2012.  Each of independent  variable, that is  memory ability  and  learning motivation of biology has contribution to dependent variable, that is  cognitive  learning achievement of biology. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? It already been  known that biology as a branch of science will emphasizes on  how to think critically to gain most of its basic concepts. Hence, the weaknesses of mastering this kind of skill will be followed by the unsuccessful mastering of its concepts respectively. Factual phenomenon observed towards high school student of the grade of  XI of Assalam Islamic Boarding School in academic year  2011/2012 showed  that student performing a teacher centered classical learning. Student has never induced and  motivated to be a real learner. This, makes student are unable to perform good critical thinking skill. This is real problem in this class that needs to be solved trough particular strategy.  Blended learning is expected to be an effective strategy since  it facilitates both, student centered learning and optimizing the use of ICT based learning. This research is aimed to ascertain 1) blended learning implementation in biological learning process, 2) blended learning implementation in biological learning process. This research belongs to classroom action research  consist of four cycle and each have four phases, namely planning, actuating, observing and reflecting. The subject of the research is XI IPA 4 Putra students at SMA RSBI Pondok Pesantren Modern Islam Assalaam Sukoharjo in academic year 2011/2012. The data was collected by test and non test technique, it was carried out by using essay test,  observation sheet, questionnaire, and interview. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive approach and validated through triangulation method. The results showed that the average percentage of critical thinking aspect from essay test, such as the 1st cycle 56,82%, the 2nd cycle 61,93%, the 3rd cycle 68,94% and the 4th  cycle 75,75%. Therefore, it can be concluded that 1) blended learning could be applied in biological learning process, 2) blended learning could be used to improve critical thinking. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The purpose ofthis study was to improvestudent science process skills on Biology teaching by implementation of Active Learning with Silent Demonstrationand increaselearning outcome by improvingstudent science process skills. This research usedclassroom action research. The experiment was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of the planning, acting, observation, and reflection. Subjects were students of class VIII-DSMP Negeri 14 Surakarta academic year 2010/2011. Source of data derived from teacher and student information, places and events on going learning activities, and documentation. Techniques and tools of data collection are questionnaire, observation, and interviews. Technical analysis of data is using qualitative descriptive. Data validationis use methods triangulation Result of the research showed  that with action performing brazes to pass through Implementation of Active Learning with Silent Demonstration can improve science process skillsin biology learning in class VIII-DSMP Negeri 14 Surakarta academic year 2010/2011. It wasgone upon on questionnaire result, observation and interview. The average percentage each indicator of student activities based on observation  for  pre cycle is 36,62%, a cycle of 68,94% and 78,28% for cycle 2. The conclusions that application of Active Learning with Silent Demonstrationcan improve student science process skillsand learning outcome by improvingstudent science process skills. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? This  research aimed for  improving studentachievementin learning process on Biology by implementation of  Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and Review  (SQ3R) strategy of  grade XI  IPA  2 SMA Negeri 1 Banyudono academic years 2011 / 2012.  This research is aclassroom  action research that was included 2 cycles of action. Each cycles consisting of 4 phase which areplanning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this research were students grade XI IPA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Banyudonoacademic years 2011  / 2012.  Source  of  data  derived  from  the questionnaire, observation,  test  and interview. Technical analysis of data was using descriptive analysis. Data validation was using methods triangulation. The results of this research showed that the implementation  Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and Review  (SQ3R)  strategy  could improve  student achievement  in learning process on Biology  of  grade XI IPA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Banyudonoacademic years 2011 / 2012.  The  average  percentage based on questionnaire  student  achievement of  psychomotorindicators was  75,49% forCycle Iand  80,02%  forCycle II(worked up  4,53%).  The average  percentage based on  questionnaire  student  achievement of  affective  indicators was  69,48% forCycle Iand  78,09%  forCycle II  (worked up  8,61%).  The average  percentage based on observation student achievement of psychomotor  indicators for Cycle I was 57,81% and 67,60% forCycle II (worked up 9,79%). The average percentage based on observation student achievement of affective   indicators for Cycle I was 55,35% and  63,76%  forCycle II  (worked up  8,41%).  The average  percentage student  achievement of cognitivebased on evaluation test  for Cycle I  was 74,84and   85,63for Cycle II (worked up   10,79).Based on the result could be conclude that  implementation  of  Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and Review (SQ3R)  strategy  had improvedstudent achievement  in learning process on Biologyof grade XI IPA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Banyudono. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The purposes of this research ware to  ascertain  the influence  ARIAS lerning models toward biology learning achievement of XI IPA grade students at SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta in academic year 2011/2012. This research  is considered as  quasi  experiment research using quantitative approach. The research was  designed using  posttest only control design  that  applied Quantum  Learning approach in experimental group and conventional approach with discussion, classical course and question-answer method in control group.  The population of this  research  was all of  XI  IPA  degree students at SMA  Al Islam 1 Surakarta in academic year 2011/2012.  The sample of this research was established by cluster random sampling that choosed  XI IPA 3 as experiment group and XI IPA 2 as control group.  The  data  was collected  by  using questionnaire, multiple choice test, observation form, and document. The hypotheses analyzed by t-test. The conclusion of this research showed that application of Assurance, Relevance, Interest, Assesment, And Satisfaction (ARIAS)      learning models  had  significant  effect toward biology learning achievement  in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domain of XI IPA grade students at SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta in academic year 2011/2012. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? Purpose of the researched is to improve the ability to rational thinkingh of through application of Guided Inquiry Strategies on all cognitive dimensions of VII F I Class Students SMP 5 Surakarta years 2011/2012. The research is an action research study Classroom what is done in several cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages: planning, action, observation and reflection. The research subjects are VIII-F Class Students SMP 5 Surakarta years 2011/2012. The data obtained by observation of written test. Techniques of data analysis using descriptive analysis technique. Validating data using triangulation research method. The research was motivated by the observation of the observations made on the VII-F class student of SMP 5 Surakarta. The results showed that the average achievement scores of rational thinking ability to process information on aspects on the 1st cycle by 56.15%, 69.73% in 2nd, and 70.68% in 3rd. Aspects of solving problems on 1st cycle by 38.22%, 67.83% in the second, 67.71%in 3rd . Aspects of a decision on the 1st cycle by 56.87%, 63.51% the second and 71% on 3rd.. The increase that occurs in every cycle showed that Guided Inquiry Learning model can improve the ability of rational thinking. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The purposes of this research were to know: 1) the influence of guided inquiry method to the science process skills; 2) the influence of student?s learning interest to science process skills; 3) the interaction between learning method and learning interest to the science process skills. This research was quasi experiment research using Randomized Control Only design. Learning method and learning interest were independent variables and to science process skills was the dependent variable. The population of this research was all of  XI grade of natural science students of SMA Negeri 1 Boyolali. The samples of this research were the students of class XI IPA 2 as the experimental group and students of class XI IPA 6 as the control group.  The sample of this research was established by cluster random sampling. The data about science process skills collected by use observation. Learning interest measured by observation. The analysis was anava two away in different cell and the advance test used Bonfferoni test. The conclusion of this research were: 1) Guided Inquiry method had significant influence to science process skills on XI grade of SMA Negeri 1 Boyolali; 2) Learning interest had significant influence to science process skills on XI grade of SMA Negeri 1 Boyolali; 3) There wasn?t interaction between learning method and learning interest to science process skills on XI grade of SMA Negeri 1 Boyolali. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The purposes of this research were to know: 1) the influence of index card match active learning strategy to the result of study biology; 2) the influence of student?s learning motivation to the result of study biology; 3) the interaction between learning strategy and learning motivation to the result of study biology: and 4) the influence of better learning strategy to the result of study biology. Background problems in this research are biology teachers, in general, are still not implementing the strategy of active learning in delivering learning, some teachers are oriented to the achievement of the cognitive. Lack of interaction between teacher and student, and also teachers do not involve students actively in each learning activity. Students? motivation  in learning Biology is low because some students take identical biological material by rote.  Index Card Match  is an appropriate strategy applied to high school students because these strategies involve students in active, containing elements of the game, and gives a nice effect that will facilitate and enhance motivation to learn more diligent and to obtain the optimal results of biological studies.  This research was quasi experiment research using  Randomized Control Only design.  Independent variables were  learning strategy and learning motivation, whereas student?s achievement of study biology was the dependent variable. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The purpose  of this study  is to  determine the influence  of Guided Discovery learning methods toward science process skill in class X of SMA Negeri 1 Teras Boyolali in academic year 2011/2012. This research was quasi experiment and posttest only control group design was used as a research design. Guided Discovery learning method was independent variables and science skill process was dependent variable. Student of class X of SMA Negeri 1 Teras Boyolali as a population. The samples of this research were the students of class X-1 as the experimental group and students of class X-3 as the control group. The sample of this research was established by cluster random sampling.  Data was collected using test and observation. The data were analyzed using t-test method. The conclusion of this research was Guided Discovery learning method was had significantly affected the science process skill on X grade of SMA Negeri 1 Teras Boyolali. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The aim of this research was to improve creative thinking skill of students in class X-10 SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta year 2011/2012, which consist of 5 aspect, fluency, flexibility, originality, elaboration and evaluation. Classroom Action Research was used in this research, which has four phases, they are  planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Data of the research were collected by using observation sheet, test, questionare, and interview. The data were analyzed by qualitative descriptive method. The validity of data was verified through triangulation technique of data collecting method. The results showed the percentage of every aspect of creative thinking skills based test on a first cycle have not gain thet targets, achievement of Fluency aspect is 69,70%, then 63.64% for Flexibility, 47.73% for Originality, 56.82% for Elaboration, and 49.24% for Evaluation. The results of the second cycle  increased, but there are aspects that have not reached the target. Result for each aspect was 79.55% for Fluency, 73.11% for Flexibility, Originality of 54.55%, 60.23% for Elaboration, and Evaluation of 57.58%. All aspects have not fulfill of the target yet, so the action continued to third cycle. The results achieved in the third cycle, Fluency aspects of 85.86%, 78.03% for flexibility, 63.64% for Originality, 60.23% for Elaboration, and Evaluation of 62.12%. All aspects of creative thinking skills already outreach the target, so the action was stopped. The conclusion of this research described that the Problem Based learningn (PBL) improve creative thinking skill in biology subject learning of students at class X-10 SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta year 2011/2012.
