Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Group Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy approach in reducing learning burnout experienced by students due to irrational thoughts. This research is a quantitative analysis that uses the method of Quasi-Experiment through the design of The Non-Equivalent Control Group. The subjects in this study were class VIII-1 students as the experimental group and class VIII-8 students as the control group. The instrument used is a learning burnout scale with the validity of 0.273 (Pearson Product Moment) and reliability of 0.936 (Alpha Cronbach). Data analysis was conducted using nonparametric statistics with the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov 2 Independent Samples. The results of this study show that the REBT approach in a group setting is effective for reducing student learning burnout. This can be seen from the score of student learning burnout in the experimental group, which experienced a greater and more significant decline than the control group.

Abstract

Cases of domestic violence that occur in Indonesia have increased every year, one of the causes is due to the patriarki culture that is still inherent in society, where men are considered superiority over women. This condition makes women vulnerable to become victims of domestic violence. Other conditions that cause a person to accept violence are caused by economic, educational, socio-cultural, infidelity, and third-party interference. This article aims to provide an overview of non-psychological conditions that affect the acceptance of violence in victims of domestic violence by using the method of literature study as well as the approaches that can be done by counselors discussed further.

Abstract

Resilience is the ability of an individual to rise from adversity or the problems faced. It is needed in dealing with various bitter events such asparental divorce. To attainresilience, children need emotional and optimistic arrangements in dealing with problems. The purpose of this study, therefore, wasto examinechildren's resilience in the face of parental divorce based on the regulation of emotions and optimism. This wasa case study conducted in the city of Padang. The subjects in this study were two students with the criteria of having divorced parents in lessthan seven months or with the provision that the divorce occurred within the study period. Data analysis techniques usedwereinteractive models. The results showed resilience in children was different evenwhilefacing the same problem, such as parental divorce. For instance, one of the respondents,OT, had an excellent emotional arrangement while facing the parental divorce, while the other one, BT,was poor. The level of optimism in children also declined due to parental divorce.

Abstract

Discipline is defined as the compliance with existing rules or regulations with pleasure and self-awareness. It has a huge influence on learning, personal interest, social life and career of students. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to describe the disciplinary problems of students at SMAN 2 Padang and ways to improve it using the right counseling approach. Data was analyzed using the quantitative and descriptive methods with a reliability scale of 0.909. The research findings shows the discipline of students in SMAN 2 Padang is in the sufficient category with a percentage of 79.27%in accordancewith established rules. Therefore the Rational Emotional Behavior Therapy group format approach is developed to enhance the problem of proper student discipline.

Abstract

Children who live in violent environments have aggressive tendencies as a result of the interaction process. Aggressive behavior of children is influenced by several factors such as improper care, stress, low self-esteem, bad relationships and the display of violence in the mass media. This research aims at examining the contribution of self-esteem and parenting to the aggressive behavior of child victims of domestic violence. The research used a quantitative approach with a descriptive and correlation type. The research respondents  were the students of SMA Negeri Padang who were identified as 73 victims of domestic violence victims, selected by using a purposive sampling technique. The data were collected using the CFSEI-2 inventory for self-esteem and Likert model scale for aggressive behavior with a reliability level of 0.899 and 0.915 for parenting. The data processing used a multiple regression analysis technique with the help of SPSS for Windows Release 20. The findings of this research indicated that self-esteem and parenting together contributed to the aggressive behavior of child victims of domestic violence by 41.7%.

Abstract

Currently, students face problems accessing information through the internet, which hurts predisposing pornographic behavior. Counselors can adopt some techniques to improve student emotion regulations by using interesting media such as guidelines for implementing information services. The purpose of this research therefore is to improve the regulation of student emotions in the prevention of pornographic tendencies through information services. The paper adopts research and development (R & D) technique where a 4-D development model is used. The type of data collected is based on the validity and conformity to the needs of students. The instruments of data collection include Likert scale, emotion regulation instruments, and group discussions. The study population and sample were class XI students of the State 1 Vocational High School Padangn. The results found that the effect of providing information service guidance to be effective in increasing students' emotional regulation in the prevention of pornographic tendencies.

Abstract

Teaching strategy is necessary for the teaching and learning process. It is used as a way to present learning content in a way that engages the learners. It is assumed that applying appropriate teaching strategies has a positive impact on students' achievement. This study aimed to analyze students' perceptions of teacher's teaching strategy and its effect on students' achievement in learning English. This study was an Ex-post Facto study. The population of this study was the students who had studied English as a general subject at Universitas Negeri Padang in the academic year of January-June 2019. Cluster random sampling was used with 150 students as the sample of this study. Then, for collecting the data, two questionnaires and documents of students’ final scores were used as the instruments. The data was analyzed by using a Likert-type scale and regression linear statistical analysis through IBM SPSS Statistics 22 Software. The results showed that generally, students' perception of the teacher's teaching strategy was High. Then, based on the statistical analysis, it was found that thevalue of F-count was lower than F-table. It meant that the null hypothesis (H0) was accepted, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was rejected. Thus, there was no significant effect of student's perception of teaching strategy towards students' achievement in learning English as a general subject.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out how the dynamics of forgiveness of domestic violence victims. Anything that is the reason for the victim chooses to provide forgiveness and maintain the relationship of his household. The method used in this article is the library research method. The results of this study indicate that victims of domestic violence choose to provide forgiveness because it is influenced by certain factors. This factor becomes a force of the victim to maintain his household relationship. As for some of these factors, such as the presence of children, feeling ashamed to report the treatment of their husbands, not having a job so that they depend on living fully with their husbands and considering the length of marriage that has been fostered together.

Abstract

The problem of this research was soccer player shooting ability of Soccer School Batuang Taba still low. It can be seen from the decreasing of their achievement that happened in Soccer School Batuang Taba. The aim of this study is to reveal the direct impact of Concentration, on Shooting ability of soccer player. This research method is quantitive by using Path Analysis approach. Population are 19 soccer players of U-15 Soccer School Batuang Taba. The sample technique is done by Proportionate Random Sampling, so the participants became 17 soccer players. The instrument was shooting ability test. Grid Concentration, exercise for measuring Concentration. Technique of data analysis used with Path Analysis. The result of research and data analysis showed that: Concentration has a direct and significant effect on Shooting ability of 12.25%.

Abstract

This research was to describe the educational contribution in family and about being active while participating extracurricular on prosocial behavior of students in SMK Negeri 6 Padang. This research applied descriptive quantitative method. The population was 903 students in X and XI grade at SMK Negeri 6 Padang and 278 students as the sample were selected using proportional random sampling techniques. The instruments used was questionnaire. The data were analyzed with regression statistics, simple and double regressions. The data analysis was assisted using the SPSS 20.0 program. The study showed that: (1) the average of prosocial behavior was in the high category, (2) education in family was in the high category, there were 28% contribution of education in family to prosocial behavior, (3) the activity in participating extracurricular was in the high category, there were 16.2% contributions of activeness to participate in participative extracurricular on students’ prosocial behavior, (4) there were 31.5% contributions of both educational contribution in family and participative extracurricular on students’ prosocial behavior.
