Abstract

Stroke is still a concern for the health consent due to its high mortality and morbidity rates. Readmission of stroke patients is one of the factors that causes it. Risk factors that causing readmission of stroke patients are the main focus for nurses in order to give nursing services to patients in hospital. The aim of the research is to describe the evidence base for factors that cause readmission in stroke patients. This study is a literature review, with approach using 10 journals. Articles that were reviewed were selected from Google Scholar, Ebsco, Clinical key and Proquest which had been peer-reviewed and published. The inclusion criteria in the search were full-text articles, original text, English language, and the last 5 years, while the keywords used in the search for articles were caused factor, readmission, and stroke patient. The results of the data search obtained 539 articles, 10 articles were then reviewed. The articles used cross-sectional design (n=5) and cohort study (n=5), the cohort design consists of 3 retrospective studies, 2 prospective cohort studies. The causal factors related to the incidence of readmission in stroke patients are unpreventable factor and preventable factor of readmission. Unpreventable factors related to basic demographic data (age, gender, ethnicity, residences) and type of stroke. Meanwhile, preventable factors related to infection, complication of comorbid and the patient's functional ability during discharge. Readmissions of stroke patients are an indicator of services quality provided to patients during their hospitalization. Provision of services according to standards, prevention of infection and complications from patient are the main things that can reduce patient readmission rates.

Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic non-communicable disease which, if not treated properly, will cause cardiovascular complications which are the cause of disability and death in communities throughout the world. Patient behavior that does not follow hypertension management guidelines is a major factor in the risk of cardiovascular complications in hypertensive patients in the community. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of a health behavior module based on transcultural nursing in preventing cardiovascular complications and its impact on hypertensive patients in the community. The research design was a quasi experiment with a pre-post-test control group design. The sample size was 100 hypertension patients divided into 50 treatment groups and 50 control groups. The research sample was taken using a purposive sampling technique based on predetermined inclusion criteria. The research data were analyzed descriptively, homogeneity test using Levene Statistics, Wilcoxon pre-post difference test for each group, simultaneous pre-post difference test for both groups with Mann-Whitney, and correlation test with Spearman Rho. Results of the test for equality of respondent characteristics p-value = > 0.05, Wilcoxon test in the treatment group p-value = 0.000, control group p-value = > 0.05, Mann Whitney test pre test p-value > 0.05, post test < 0.05, and the Spearman rho test obtained a p-value < 0.05. Conclusion: The behavioral module intervention to prevent cardiovascular complications based on transcultural nursing has proven to be effective in increasing efforts to prevent cardiovascular complications in hypertensive patients, and efforts to prevent cardiovascular complications based on transcultural nursing have a significant relationship in reducing systolic, diastolic blood pressure and cholesterol levels in hypertensive patients in the community. It is hoped that this module can become a health promotion media that can be used to increase efforts to prevent cardiovascular complications in hypertensive patients in the community

Abstract

Several factors that can influence blood pressure and heart rate in hypertensive patients are physical activity, where hatha yoga can be a non-pharmacological intervention solution for hypertensive sufferers by emphasizing the effects of relaxation and blood circulation. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of hatha yoga practice on reducing blood pressure and pulse rate in patients with hypertension. Methods: This research uses a quasi-experiment design with a pre-post test control group design. The research population was 72 elderly people with hypertension and 48 respondents were recruited as samples using purposive sampling techniques. This research was divided into 2 groups, namely the treatment group and the control group, each with 24 respondents. The independent variable hatha yoga was carried out using standard operating procedures (SOP), while blood pressure and pulse were the dependent variables measured using a sipgnomanometer, stethoscope, oximeter and observation sheet. Data analysis used a paired t-test with p<0.05 and because the data was normally distributed. Results: There was an effect of hatha yoga on blood pressure and pulse rate in hypertensive patients (p=0.000) in the intervention group. Systolic blood pressure decreased from 147.78 ± 6.014 to 131.08 ± 6.576. Diastolic blood pressure decreased from 95.08 ± 2.278 to 80.81 ± 6.032 and pulse rate decreased from 87.62 ± 5.570 to 79.49 ± 5.295. Conclusion: Non-pharmacological intervention using hatha yoga shows a positive influence in reducing blood pressure and pulse rate in elderly people with hypertension.
