Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the farmers’ perception level on performance of extension workers in organic paddy development, the factors related to farmers’ perception on the performance, and the difference of perceptions between organic paddy farmers’ and nonorganic paddy farmers’ in performance of extension workers in organic paddy development in Pagelaran Subdistrict, Pringsewu district.  This research was conducted in Pagelaran Village and Gemah Ripah Village in Pagelaran subdistrict, Pringsewu District.  Respondents were 48 farmers’ consisting of all 24 organic paddy farmers’s and 24 nonorganic paddy farmers’ which taken randomly.  Data were analyzed using Rank Spearman and Mann Whitney. Result showed that farmers’ perception on extension workers performance in organic paddy development was included in medium classification. Factors with real related to farmers’ perception toward performance of extension in organic paddy development were their age, knowledge, duration as a farmer and social interactions. There was no difference between organic paddy farmers’perception and nonorganic paddy farmers’ perception toward performance of extension in organic paddy development.  Both organic paddy farmers’ and nonorganic paddy farmers’ gave a good enough valuation towards performance of extension in organic paddy development. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan persepsi pemuda terhadap pekerjaan di sektor pertanian di Kabupaten Lampung Tengah. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Desa Simbar Waringin dan Desa Purwodadi Kecamatan Trimurjo serta Desa Sumber Fajar dan Desa Sumber Baru Kecamatan Seputih Banyak Kabupaten Lampung Tengah dengan menggunakan metode survei. Responden dalam penelitian ini adalah warga yang berjenis kelamin laki-laki dan perempuan. Sampel penelitian adalah 66 pemuda yang dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik pengambilan sampel proporsional random sampling. Untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan persepsi pemuda terhadap pekerjaan sektor pertanian menggunakan uji statistik non parametrik korelasi Rank Spearman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan persepsi pemuda terhadap pekerjaan di sektor pertanian adalah tingkat motivasi, kebutuhan, pengaruh teman dan pengetahuan informasi, sedangkan faktor yang tidak berhubungan adalah tingkat pendidikan formal, lama berusahatani dan luas lahan. Kata kunci: faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan persepsi, pemuda, pekerjaan, dan sektor pertanian.

Abstract

Abstrak: Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan persepsi masyarakat terhadap potensi panas bumi.  Metode  yang digunakan adalah metode ceramah dan diskusi dan kemudian dilakukan post-test untuk mengetahui pemahaman perserta. Sasaran pada kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah aparatur pekon (desa), tokoh masyarakat, dan pihak yang terdampak terhadap rencana kegiatan pengembangan panas bumi di Kecamatan Way Tenong dan Kecamatan Bandar Negeri Suoh.  Jumlah peserta yang hadir dalam kegiatan sosialisasi sebanyak 18 peserta. Hasil pengabdian memberikan gambaran bahwa kegiatan penyuluhan yang diberikan telah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan masyarakat terkait potensi panas bumi, terlihat dari adanya peningkatan dari pre-test dan post-test yang diperoleh dari 49,53 menjadi 86,59. Penyuluhan berdampak pada persepsi masyarakat menjadi lebih baik terhadap potensi pengembangan potensi panas bumi. Masyarakat berharap dilibatkan dalam proses pengembangan panas bumi. Selain itu, masyarakat meminta diberi waktu dan ganti rugi apabila lahan (tanah) yang dikuasai harus ditinggalkan untuk kepentingan pengembangan panas bumi.Abstract: This devotion activity aims to increase the community's knowledge and perception of geothermal potential.  The methods used are lecture and discussion methods and then post-test to know the understanding of the Perserta. The objectives of this dedication are apparatus of Pekon (village), community leaders, and the parties affected by the development of geothermal activities in Way Tenong Sub-district and Bandar Negeri Suoh subdistrict.  Number of participants present in the socialization activities as many as 18 participants. The results of devotion give the idea that the extension activities provided has improved knowledge and community related to geothermal potential, seen from the improvement of pre-test and post-test obtained from 49.53 to 86.59. Counseling affects people's perception for a better potential to develop geothermal potential. The community hopes to be involved in the geothermal development process. In addition, the community requested a time and indemnity when the Land (land) to be ruled must be abandoned for the benefit of geothermal development.

Abstract

Inovasi penanaman padi sistem gogo rancah merupakan sistem penanaman padi yang dibudidayakan tidak berada dalam kondisi tergenang. Padi sistem gogo rancah di Kecamatan Metro Timur merupakan perpaduan antara sistem sawah dan sistem gogo rancah (ladang). Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui respon petani terhadap penanaman padi sistem gogo rancah dan faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan respon petani terhadap penanaman sistem gogo rancah. Penelitian ini terdapat responden 54 orang petani di empat kelompok tani dan dilaksanakan pada Desember 2019. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah metode survei. Data dianalisis dengan pendekatan deskriptif dan uji korelasi Rank Spearman. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa tingkat respon petani terhadap inovasi sistem gogo rancah tergolong dalam klasifikasi rendah. Faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan respon petani adalah umur petani, pendidikan formal dan sifat inovasi sistem gogo rancah, sedangkan yang tidak berhubungan dengan respon petani adalah lama berusahatani, luas lahan, intensitas penyuluhan, dan pendapatan rumah tangga.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tahapan pengambilan keputusan petani memilih varietas padi serta faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi keputusan petani memilih varietas padi. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Kecamatan Bangun Rejo Kabupaten Lampung Tengah. Jumlah responden dalam penelitian ini adalah sebanyak 73 sampel. Data yang digunakan adalah data primer dan sekunder. Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif dan kuantitatif melalui uji regersi linear berganda dan uji regresi sederhana. Hasil Penelitian menunjukan bahwa proses pengambilan keputusan memilih varietas padi oleh petani dilakukan melalui beberapa tahapan yaitu: tahap peningkatan pengetahuan (tahap awal dimana petani mengetahui adanya varietas padi Hibrida yang memiliki keunggulan), tahap persuasi (tahap dimana seorang individu membentuk sikap yang menguntungkan atau tidak menguntungkan terhadap inovasi), tahap keputusan (tahap dimana petani telah menentukan varietas padi mana yang lebih menguntungkan bagi dirinya), tahap implementasi (tahap ketika seseorang menggunakan inovasi), dan tahap konfirmasi (tahap dimana seseorang mencari penguatan atas keputusan yang telah dibuat). Keputusan petani memilih varietas padi dipengaruhi oleh faktor individu (X2), faktor lingkungan (X2), dan faktor ekonomi (X4) sebesar 70,5 persen. Kata kunci: keputusan, Hibrida, Inhibrida, Produktivitas, varietas.

Abstract

Fruit quality is an important aspect that requires attention and more study when it comes to commercializing tropical fruits, including guava ‘Kristal’. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of bagging treatment and altitude of growing orchard on fruit quality of guava (Psidium guajava var. ‘Kristal’). This study was conducted at two local orchards managed by small-scale farmers, at Gunung Batu (1000 meters above sea level, m asl) and Brajaselebah (25 m asl), Lampung Province, Indonesia. A nested design was applied to test 5 types of bagging treatments and 2 levels of land altitude. Fruit quality was assessed by measuring both physical and chemical characteristics. Fruit size indicated by fruit weight and diameter was significantly larger in lowland compared to highland. The total soluble solids (TSS) were significantly higher in the lowland compared to the highland, while titratable acid (TA) showed an opposite result. Vitamin C of the fruits varied from140 to 146 mg per 100 g. Different types of fruit bagging and land altitudes did not affect the physical and chemical characteristics of “Kristal” guava fruits. Fruit scar intensity was higher in lowland, especially in fruit without bagging. Fruit bagging is highly recommended for farmers due to the success of this treatment to reduce fruit scar intensity, thus resulting in good fruit quality, irrespective of the growing locations.

Abstract

The importance of sustainable development in fishery has been clearly seen in Indonesia through the existence of Law No.31 Year 2004 on Fishery. It is stated that fishery development is aimed to create job opportunities, fish farmer and fisherman welfare, and to maintain the sustainability of fishery resource and environment. Therefore, all aspects of fishery development activities, including traditional fish processing business should be based on the view of sustainable development. According to the description, the objectives of this study are: (1) to analyze traditional fish processing business; (2) to determine factors influencing one another in sustainable fishery business; and (3) to formulate strategy to improve the competence of traditional processing workers. This research was conducted through the method of survey in three regencies in Lampung Province; namely Tanggamus Regency, Pringsewu Regency, and East Lampung Regency, with a number of samples amounting to 235 respondents; later on the number of samples in each group was determined using the technique of proportional random sampling. Assessment towards the fish processing workers in sustainable traditional processing business generated quite good result since the processing workers were confident that the business developed well and sustainably. The competence of processing workers is influenced by non-formal education and entrepreneurial characteristics. The competence and implementation of extension has a direct influence, while individual characteristics of processing workers indirectly influence the sustainable traditional fishery business. Strategy to improve the competence of sustainable traditional fishery business is done by: (a) strengthening the competence of traditional fish processing workers particularly in technical and managerial aspects through the development of entrepreneurial characteristics; and (b) strengthening the extension intensity through extension method and media to create changes in behavior in running a sustainable traditional fishery business (economy, social, and environment).Keywords: Sustainable, fishery, traditional processing workers, strategy

Abstract

Pilihan strategi pemasaran sangat ditentukan oleh persepsi konsumen. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis preferensi konsumen terhadap pembelian produk hasil olahan tradisional perikanan dengan jenis hasil olahan penggaraman ikan, pengasapan ikan, fermentasi ikan dan pemindangan ikan. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah konsumen di Pasar Kota Agung Kabupaten Tanggamus, Pasar Sukadana Kabupaten Lampung Timur, dan Pasar Gintung Kota Bandar Lampung. Penentuan responden menggunakan metode accindental sampling dengan 99 orang. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli sampai September 2017. Data di analisis dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif.Hasil penelitian memberikan gambaran bahwa konsumen lebih banyak membeli produk hasil olahan tradisional perikanan pada week end (Sabtu-Minggu) dibandingkan week days (Senin-Jumat). Preferensi konsumen dalam memilih mutu hasil olahan tradisional penggaraman ikan, pemindangan ikan, pengasapan ikan, dan fermentasi ikan adalah sama. Secara berturut-turut dari yang paling dipertimbangkan sampai dengan yang kurang dipertimbangkan adalah: rasa, harga, warna produk, jenis kemasan, warna kemasan. Tingginya penilaian konsumen memberikan dampak pada usaha olahan tradisonal perikanan akan berkembang dan berkelanjutan. Konsumen menilai produk olahan rasanya enak, memiliki aromanya harum yang khas, penampakkan produk olahan terlihat segar, warna ikan hasil olahan mengkilat, dan tekstur produk olahan padat.

Abstract

This study aims to determine multiple livelihood strategies and collaboration for livelihood strategies and preparation of extension programs in the perspective of gender equality in fishing communities. The research method uses quantitative and qualitative approaches. The data were analyzed descriptively and statistically The research location is in Limau District Tanggamus Regency and the number of respondents was 80 fishermen. The data used are primary and secondary data. The results of this study indicate that the community applies a dual livelihood strategy and a collaborative livelihood strategy in Limau District consisting of On Farm strategy, On-Farm and Off-Farm, and On-Farm and Non-Farm. Cumulatively, the gender relations of fishermen's families in Limau District covering domestic, public and community activities have shown an equal division of labor between wives and husbands, namely 76.30 percent. Extension programs should aim at gender equality so as to increase their participation, access and control, as well as the benefits that women enjoy in developing coastal areas. Thus, the results of marine and fisheries development can touch all levels of society and bring society to prosperity and a better life.

Abstract

Extension is an informal learning process that plays an important role in improving fisheries processors competencies. However, current extension activities that have been running so far are felt to be lacking so it is necessary to look at the effectiveness of conducting extension on traditional fisheries business related to methods, media, materials and capabilities of extension agents. This study was aimed to (1) analyze the effectiveness of fisheries extension activities in traditional fisheries processing businesses in Lampung Province, (2) analyze traditional processors competencylevels, (3) analyze the effect of extension on processors competencies/capabilities in traditional fisheries processing businesses. This study used a quantitative approach enriched with qualitative analysis. The survey was conducted to obtain primary data using a questionnaire. The research location were in three districts in Lampung Province. The data analysis technique used descriptive and regression analysis. The results of the study were (1) the effectiveness of extension was still low, (2) traditional processors competencies belonged to the low category, and (3) the ability of extension agents affected the development of fisheries processors’ competencies. The effectiveness of extension is still low due to the limited extension methods. Therefore it is important to carry out extension activities with varied methods according to the target needs to improve the competency of traditional fisheries processors.
