Abstract

ABSTRAKTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan prevalensi penyakit Baliziekte pada sapi potong di Kabupaten Majene, Sulawesi Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan analisis data sekunder. Data kasus kejadian Baliziekte pada sapi potong di Kabupaten Majene, Sulawesi Barat pada tahun 2018-2020 didapatkan dari Dinas Pertanian, Peternakan dan Perkebunan Kabupaten Majene. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa prevalensi penyakit Baliziekte pada sapi potong di Kabupaten Majene mengalami peningkatan dalam rentang waktu  dua tahun terakhir. Jumlah prevalensi penyakit Baliziekte pada tahun 2018 adalah 0,789 %, pada tahun 2019 terjadi penurunan menjadi 0,716 % dan meningkat pada tahun 2020 menjadi 1,257 %. Kecamatan Sendana merupakan satu-satunya daerah dengan peningkatan jumlah kasus Baliziekte pada sapi potong setiap tahunnya, sedangkan Kecamatan Banggae Timur mengalami penurunan jumlah kasus Baliziekte yaitu dari prevalensi 0,078% di tahun 2018 menjadi 0% di tahun 2019 dan 2020. Kecamatan Tubo Sendana merupakan daerah dengan jumlah kasus dan prevalensi tertinggi pada tahun 2020, sedangkan Kecamatan Banggae dan Pamboang merupakan daerah dengan data kasus dan prevalensi 0%. Kata kunci: sapi potong, prevalensi, baliziekte, Kabupaten MajeneThe Prevalence of Baliziekte Disease in Beef Cattle in Majene, West SulawesiABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to illustrate the prevalence of Baliziekte disease in beef cattle in Majene, West Sulawesi. This study was quantitative research by analyzing the secondary data analysis approach. Data on the Baliziekte incidence in beef cattle in Majene, West Sulawesi in 2018-2020 were obtained from the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Plantation of Majene Regency. The results of the analysis showed that the prevalence of Baliziekte disease in beef cattle in Majene Regency has increased in the last two years. The prevalence of Baliziekte disease in 2018 was 0.789%, decreased to 0.716% in 2019, and increased sharply to 1.257% in 2020. Sendana District was the only area with an increase in the number of Baliziekte cases in beef cattle every year, while the East Banggae District underwent depletion in the number of Baliziekte cases, from a prevalence of 0.078% in 2018 to 0% in both 2019 and 2020. Tubo Sendana District was the area with the highest number of cases and prevalence in 2020, while the Districts of Banggae and Pamboang were both maintained a 0% case and prevalence throughout the years.Keywords: beef cattle, prevalence, baliziekte, Majene

Abstract

Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) is a bacterium that has an ability to inhibit a pathogenic bacteria growth, including isolates 18A. The aim of this study is to determine the species of LAB isolates 18A by conventional tests and API 50 CH test. This study was a descriptive observational study, with lactic acid bacteria isolates 18A were obtained from bali cattle’s colon as an object. LAB isolates 18A were re-cultured on MRS media, catalase test, and Gram staining. Identification test were performed by CO2 production test, growth in the presence of 15% NaCl, growth at 10°C, and growth at pH 9.6. Confirmation test were performed using API 50 CH (Standard Analytical Profile Index). The results indicated that LAB isolate 18A were able to grow well on MRS broth media, catalase-negative, Gram-positive, and spherical-chain in shape. Identification test revealed that the bacteria is homofermentative, were able to grow at 10°C, and do not grow at pH 9.6. Fermentation test using API 50 CH showed that LAB isolates 18A were able to degrade 15 sugar components, consist of no: 5, 10, 11, 12, 13, 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 , 31, and 39. Based on conventional identification results, it can be concluded that BAL isolates 18A is a Lactococcus. In addition, the result of API 50 CHL test showed that BAL isolates 18A is a Lactococcus lactis ssp lactis 1.

Abstract

Anthrax merupakan salah satu penyakit yang mampu menyerang hewan dan manusia. Desa Katumbangan adalah salah satu wilayah yang terdapat di Kecamatan Campalagian, Polewali Mandar. Sebagian besar masyarakat di desa tersebut berprofesi sebagai peternak sapi dan kambing sehingga meningkatkan resiko kejadian penyakit anthrax. Pada tahun 2016 di Kecamatan Campalagian terdapat beberapa ternak yang terkonfirmasi positif penyakit anthrax. Adapun tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk memberikan wawasan kepada para peternak di Desa Katumbangan, Kecamatan Campalagian, Polewali Mandar mengenai bahaya penyakit anthrax pada ternak sehingga  sebagai landasan pencegahan penyakit anthrax yang efektif dan efisien di lokasi tersebut. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 17 Februari 2022 di Aula Kantor Desa Katumbangan. Adapun metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan ini adalah presentasi. Sasaran dari kegiatan ini adalah peternak yang ada di Desa Katumbangan. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini adalah terlaksanya kegiatan sosialisasi mengenai “Bahaya Anthrax Sebagai Penyakit Global pada Ternak di Desa Katumbangan, Kecamatan Campalagian, Polewali Mandar”. Dengan adanya kegiatan ini masyarakat mendapatkan pengetahuan baru mengenai penyakit anthrax sehingga dapat digunakan untuk pencegahan dan pengendalian terhadap penyakit tersebut.Anthrax is a disease that can attack animals and humans. Katumbangan Village is one of the areas in the Campalagian District, Polewali Mandar. Most of the people in the village work as cattle and goat breeders, thus increasing the risk of anthrax disease. In 2016 in Campalagian District, several cattle were confirmed positive for anthrax. This activity aims to provide insight to farmers in Katumbangan Village, Campalagian District, and Polewali Mandar regarding the dangers of anthrax on livestock. It becomes the basis for effective and efficient anthrax prevention in that location. On February 17, 2022, this activity was held in the Katummbangan Village Office Hall. The method used in this activity is presented. The target of this activity is the farmers in Katumbangan Village. The results obtained from this activity were the implementation of outreach activities regarding "The Danger of Anthrax as a Global Disease in Livestock in Katumbangan Village, Campalagian District, Polewali Mandar". With this activity, the community has new knowledge about anthrax so that it can be used for the prevention and control of the disease.

Abstract

Penyakit masih menjadi kendala utama peternak di Indonesia, terutama peternakan rakyat, hal ini dikarenakan kondisi iklim tropis dan sumber daya peternak yang tergolong rendah pengetahuannya tentang penyakit, sehingga kurang memperhatikan dalam memelihara ternaknya, terutama yang berkaitan pencegahan dan pengendalian penyakit. Desa Salarri merupakan salah satu desa yang terdapat di Kecamatan Limboro, Polewali Mandar. Sebagian besar masyarakat di desa tersebut berprofesi sebagai peternak sapi dan kambing. Berdasarkan hasil identifikasi permasalahan bersama dengan Kepala Desa setempat diperoleh bahwa minimnya pengetahuan para peternak di Desa Salarri terkait dengan penyakit pada sapi dan kambing serta upaya pencegahannya. Sehingga perlu dilakukan sosialisasi mengenai penyakit pada sapi dan kambing serta pencegahannya di Desa Salarri Kecamatan Limboro, Polewali Mandar. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada hari Kamis, 24 Maret 2022 di Aula Kantor Desa Salarri. Adapun metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan ini adalah ceramah dan tanya jawab. Sasaran dari kegiatan ini adalah peternak yang ada di Desa Salarri. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini adalah terlaksananya kegiatan sosialisasi dengan baik dan lancar. Dengan adanya kegiatan ini para peternak di desa tersebut mendapatkan pengetahuan baru mengenai penyakit pada sapi dan kambing serta upaya pencegahannya.The disease is still the main obstacle for breeders in Indonesia, especially on smallholder farms, this is due to tropical climate conditions and breeders' resources which are relatively low in knowledge about diseases, so they pay less attention to raising livestock, especially those related to disease prevention and control. Salarri Village is one of the villages located in Limboro District, Polewali Mandar. Most of the people in the village work as cattle and goat breeders. Based on the results of the identification of problems with the local Village Head, it was found that the farmers in Salarri Village lacked knowledge regarding diseases in cattle and goats and their prevention efforts. So it is necessary to disseminate information about diseases in cattle and goats and their prevention in Salarri Village, Limboro District, Polewali Mandar. This activity was held on Thursday, March 24, 2022, in the Salarri Village Office Hall. The method used in this activity is lecture and question and answer. The target of this activity is farmers in Salarri Village. The results obtained from this activity are the implementation of socialization activities well and smoothly. With this activity, farmers in the village gain new knowledge about diseases in cattle and goats and their prevention efforts.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to prove that the administration of Jati (Guazuma ulmifolia Lamk) leaves extract improves the lipid profile of dyslipidemic male Wistar rats. Subjects were 20 rats (Rattus norvegicus), male, Wistar strain, dyslipidemia (total cholesterol ≥ 200 mg dl-1), aged 2 months old, weighing 180-200 grams. The control group (10 rats) were given a placebo of 3 ml aquadest (P0) and the treatment group was given extracts of the Jati (Guazuma ulmifolia Lamk) leaves extract of 25 mg kg-1 BW (P1). Before and after treatment for 14 days, total cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL, and HDL levels were examined. The results showed that in the P0 group there were no changes in total cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL, and HDL levels (p>0.05), whereas the P1 group experienced a decrease in total cholesterol, triglyceride and LDL levels (p<0.05) and an increase in HDL levels (p<0.05). The results of this study indicated that the Jati leaves extract was effective to improve the lipid profile of dyslipidemic rats. It was necessary to compare the effectiveness of Jati leaves extract with synthetic dyslipidemia drugs used in the community such as statin.

Abstract

Babesiosis is a parasitic disease in red blood cells due to protozoan infection of the genus Babesia which is transmitted through tick vectors. A 5-years-old male German shepherd had decreased appetite, weakness, and infestation of ticks throughout his body. Clinical examination showed Capillary Refill Time (CRT) <2 seconds, pale mouth mucosa, erythema throughout the body, philtrum was dry and slow skin turgor. The results of a complete blood examination of the dog had hyperchromic microcytic anemia and lymphocytopenia, while the results of blood smear showed the existence of intraerythrocyte inclusion bodies. The dog was diagnosed with Babesiosis and treated with Ringer Lactate fluid therapy, administration of Clindamycin (25mg/kg BW; PO), Oxytetracycline (15mg/kg BW; PO), Anti-inflammatory Dexamethasone (0.5-1mg/kg BW; PO) and Hematodine (1ml/5kg BB; IV) given for seven days. After treatment, the dog has increased appetite and after 14 days shows improvement in clinical signs.

Abstract

Kabupaten Majene menjadi penghasil kambing terbesar di Provinsi Sulawesi Barat. Sistem pemeliharaan kambing yang ada di Kabupaten Majene dilakukan secara tradisional dan semi intensif, karena beternak kambing hanya sebagai usaha sampingan untuk menunjang perekonomian keluarga dan sebagai tabungan. Mastitis adalah salah satu gangguan kesehatan yang sering ditemukan pada ternak kambing. Mastitis merupakan salah satu penyakit yang dapat menyebabkan kerugian ekonomi bagi peternak. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan prevalensi penyakit mastitis pada kambing di Kabupaten Majene, Sulawesi Barat. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Kabupaten Majene, Sulawesi Barat pada bulan Mei tahun 2021. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan analisis data sekunder. Data kasus kejadian mastitis pada kambing di Kabupaten Majene, Sulawesi Barat pada tahun 2018-2020 diperoleh dari Dinas Pertanian, Peternakan dan Perkebunan Kabupaten Majene. Analisis data pada penelitian ini menggunakan analisis deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk menggambarkan prevalensi penyakit mastitis pada kambing. Berdasarkan hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa prevalensi penyakit mastitis pada kambing di Kabupaten Majene mengalami peningkatan dalam rentang waktu dua tahun terakhir. Tingkat prevalensi penyakit mastitis pada tahun 2018 yaitu 0,028%, kemudian pada tahun 2019 terjadi penurunan, menjadi 0,027% dan meningkat pada tahun 2020 menjadi 0,089%. Kecamatan Banggae merupakan satu-satunya wilayah yang mengalami peningkatan jumlah prevalensi mastitis pada kambing dalam 3 tahun terakhir. Sedangkan, di Kecamatan Malunda dan Banggae Timur prevalensi kasus mastitis 0% dari tahun 2018-2020.

Abstract

Nutraceuticals for fish that have potential in Indonesia are plants of the Zingiberaceae family which contain many essential oils, including terpenes, alcohols, ketones, flavonoids, carotenoids, and phytoestrogens. This review article aims to provide scientific information about Zingiberaceae with nutraceutical phytochemical activity as well as information about effects on the immune system and growth performance for aquaculture. The method used is a literature study from several scientific publications in national and international journals about the potential of Zingiberaceae as an immunostimulant and growth promoter in fish. Several studies have shown that the Zingiberaceae family has potential as a nutraceutical in aquaculture because Zingiberaceae contains very diverse bioactive compounds, such as alkaloids, saponins, tannins, coumarins, flavonoids, diterpenes, phlobatannins, cardiac glycosides, phenols, steroids, anthraquinones, reducing sugars, anthocyanins. , terpenoids, Essential oils (sabinine, borneol, α-phellandrene, cineol, sesquiterpines, zingiberene, curcumin (diferuloyl methane) gingerols, shogaols, paradols which have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. In addition, they can be used to promote growth, feed efficiency, immune response enhancement, treatment and prevention of several fish diseases caused by infectious agents.

Abstract

This study aims to study the leaching of semen and the level of soy bean lecithin (Soybean lecithin) in relation to the quality of sheep spermatozoa preserved at 5OC. The study used a Complete Randomized Design (RAL) factorial pattern of 2 x 5 x 3. As the first factor is cement washing (P), consisting of P0 = Fresh cement without washing and P1 = Fresh cement undergoes a washing process. The second factor is the level of soy bean lecithin (L), consisting of L0, L1, L2, L3, and L4. Independent variables are cement washing (P) and soybean lasitin levels (L). As a dependent variable is the quality of spermatozoa at a storage temperature of 5⁰C, which consists of progressive motility, viability, abnormality and intergrity of the spermatozoa membrane. The results of the study obtained that the treatment of cement leaching and soy bean lecithin levels together did not show any noticeable interaction, however, single-seeded lecithin levels showed markedly different influences (P≤0.05) and the washing treatment showed no noticeably different influence on all quality parameters of sheep spermatozoa during five days of storage at 5⁰C. The use of soy bean lecithin as a component of sheep cement extenders is effective against samples of unwashed cement or washed cement. The best quality of sheep spermatozoa was obtained at the treatment of 3% soy bean lecithin levels in Tris extenders against washed and unwashed semen preserved for five days of storage at 5oC with an average progressive motility percentage of 63.18%; viability 72.20%; abnormality 12.43%; and membrane integrity of 72.92%.

Abstract

Penyakit bronkopneumonia pada hewan dapat menunjukkan gejala klinis yang berbeda-beda, dan seringkali   gejala  klinis   yang  terlihat  sering diabaikan   karena  terlihat  sepele. Tetapi, akan  sangat berbahaya  jika  mengabaikannya,  karena  perjalanan  penyakit  akan  terus berlangsung bila tanpa  dilakukan  pengobatan  yang tepat. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian terapi cefodroxil, dexamethasone, dan aminophylline pada kucing lokal yang menderita Bronkopneumonia. Penelitian ini menggunakan kucing jantan bernama itam, ras lokal, umur 5 tahun, bobot badan 3 kg, berwarna hitam. Adapun gejala yang timbul seperti bersin-bersin, batuk, hidung mengeluarkan leleran bening, mata terlihat mengeluarkan leleran/belekan serta nafsu makan menurun. Selanjutnya dilakukan pemeriksaan fisik ditemukan frekuensi pernapasan mengalami peningkatan, terdengar suara berisik saat inspirasi dan terdengar suara stidor pada saat diauskultasi pada bagian thoraks, pada pemeriksaan x-ray ditemukan ada bercak– bercak putih pada bagian paru-paru. Hasil pemeriksaan pada kasus kucing item terdiagnosa bronkopneumonia. Pengobatan yang diberikan bersifat simptomatis dan supportif yaitu cefodroxil, antiradang dexamethasone 4mg per oral, serta aminophylline 4mg per oral, diberikan selama 5 hari. Kucing juga dilakukan pemberian Vit B-kompleks. Kucing menunjukkan adanya kesembuhan setelah pemberian terapi.
