Abstract

The genus Garcinia is known to be a rich source of oxygenated xanthone, prenylated xanthone, and polyisoprenylated benzophenones. Some of them exhibiting various biological activities such as antimycrobachterial,antioxidant, cytotoxic, and antimalaria activities. Garcinia cowa belonging to the Guttiferaefamily, in Indonesia this plant is locally named asamkandis In our continuing phytochemical investigation of Garcinia plants is found in Indonesia a xanthone cowanine compound has been isolated from the steam bark of Garctnia cowa. The structure of this compound has been determined base on spectroscopic data including uv, lR,J-D NMR, and these are comparedwith the literaturedata.Keywords: Garcinia cowa, xanthone, cowanine

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PPM) di Desa Cikidang sudah dilaksanakan selama tiga tahun berturut-turut. Masyarakat berpartisipasi sangat baik dan menginginkan kegiatan dapat dilakukan secara kontinu serta melibatkan masyarakat yang lebih luas. Desa Cikidang belum memiliki sarana kesehatan dan lokasi Puskesmas terdekat adalah di Desa Cikole, berjarak 3,5 km. Berdasarkan data dari Puskesmas Cikole periode tahun 2019, tercatat bahwa penyakit hipertensi memiliki angka kejadian tertinggi yaitu 135 kejadian. Kegiatan PPM ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman kader PKK tentang penyakit hipertensi dan juga tentang COVID-19. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan menerapkan metode hybrid luring dan daring (gabungan sinkronus dan asinkronus menggunakan media leaflet dan video). Dari sejumlah enam puluh undangan yang disebarkan, kegiatan PPM dihadiri oleh tiga puluh lima peserta. Hasil pre-test dan post-test menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan peserta, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa pendidikan kesehatan secara hybrid berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan kader PKK tentang COVID-19 dan Penyakit Hipertensi sebesar 13,56%.

Abstract

Azadirachta indica, A.,Juss is a medicinal plant that is used traditionally for some disease, especially its leaves to treat a rheumatic diseases and lower blood uric acid levels. This study was carried out to examine antihyperuricemia activity of ethanol extract, water fraction, ethyl acetat fraction and n-hexane fraction of the A. Indica leaves in male mice of Swiss-Webster strain. Extract and fraction doses used were 250 and 500 mg/kg of body weight and the doses of allopurinol as a standard drug was 13 mg/kg of body weight. The tests were conducted on mice suffering from hyperuricemia induced by potassium oxonat at adose of 300 mg/kg of body weight intraperitoneally and chicken liver juice orally. Measurement of blood uric acid levels were performed using an Easy Touch® every hour for 4 hours after being given test preparations. The results showed that the ethanol extract and the fractions lowered blood uric acid levels in the same way as allopurinol did. The n-hexane fractions at the all doses showed the highest activity, followed by ethanol fraction, and water fraction at the dose of 250 mg/kg at the 4th hour. These results illustrated that the A. Indica leaves might be potential to be used as antihyperuricemia. The active compounds which possibly reduce blood uric acid levels in mice are believed to be flavonoid or polyphenolic compounds because they are reported to be able to inhibit the action of the xanthine oxidase enzyme that converts purines into uric acid. Then, the most active fraction, n-hexane fraction, was tested for its inhibitory activity on xanthine oxidase enzyme to determine its mechanism of action. The results showed that the n-hexane fraction, like allopurinol, inhibited uric acid biosynthesis through inhibiting the activity of xanthine oxidase enzyme with the IC50 value of 132 μg/mL lower than that of allopurinol IC50 58.35 μg/mL. Key words: A. indica leaves, antihyperuricemia, chicken liver juice, potassium oxonat, xanthine oxidase.

Abstract

We examined antiimplantation effect of ethanol extract from ripening burahol flesh (Stelechocarpus burahol Hook f. & Thomson) using doses 1g and 0.5g per Kg Body Weight (BW) on White Female Rats Wistar Strain. The ethanol extract was given orally on daily basis from diestrus phase until 7th day of pregnancy. Two parameter used in this investigation were number of implants and number of born fetus. The fetus were examined by observing their morphology to identify the existence of teratogenic effect. The result showed that the two doses reduced both the number of implants and born fetus significantly. In addition, the burahol flesh as an antifertility agent has two functions: as antiimplantation and abortifacient. Lastly morphological examination on the fetus did not show any teratogenic effect.

Abstract

Kersen (Muntingia calabura L.) is known as a plant that is often used as a tree to absorb air pollution and shade on the roadside. Low economic value and public knowledge about the benefits of cherry as a medicinal and food ingredient is still minimal. The part that can be used as a medicinal ingredient comes from cherry leaves. The purpose of this review article is to provide information related to the chemical content and pharmacological activity of cherry leaves that can treat various diseases. The method used in making this article review is a literature study. The literature sources in this article review were obtained from national journals and international journals published in the last 10 years (2010-2020), which were carried out online through the search engines Google Scholar, Pubmed, and NCBI, using the keywords "Kersen leaves", "Activities cherry leaf”, “Pharmacological activity of Muntingia calabura”, “Chemical content of cherry leaf”, “Muntingia calabura L.”. Journals that enter the inclusion criteria are national and international journals that discuss the pharmacological activity and chemical content of cherry leaves, journals published in the last 10 years (2010-2020), and journals in full text. The chemical constituents contained in cherry leaves are flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and terpenoids. Cherry leaves are scientifically proven to have several pharmacological activities as antidiabetic, antioxidant, antibacterial, anthelmintic, antihyperlipidemic, and anti-inflammatory.

Abstract

Tramadol menjadi salah satu analgesik opioid sistem saraf pusat (SSP) yang paling sering diresepkan untuk mengobati nyeri sedang hingga berat. Selain aksi opioidnya, tramadol juga dapat menghambat reuptake serotonin dan noradrenalin yang diresepkan secara off-label. Tujuan dari artikel review ini adalah membahas indikasi off-label dari obat tramadol untuk memberikan informasi mengenai penggunaan alternatif terhadap penyakit tertentu. Metode pencarian literatur yang dilakukan berasal dari database berupa PubMed, Sciencedirect, dan Google Scholar dengan kata kunci indication of tramadol, off-label of tramadol, reseptor opioid, serotonin, dan noradrenalin. Dari analisis studi literatur, tramadol terbukti dapat mengatasi kecemasan, depresi, sindrom kaki gelisah dan ejakulasi dini.

Abstract

Metabolit sekunder yang paling melimpah dan berperan penting dalam pertumbuhan, pigmentasi dan reproduksi pada tumbuhan yaitu senyawa fenolik. Senyawa ini telah menjadi fokus utama dalam beberapa penelitian karena efek biologis yang menguntungkan. Lokasi tumbuh tanaman merupakan salah satu yang dapat mempengaruhi kandungan senyawa aktif pada tumbuhan. Lembang, Bandung, Jawa Barat berada di daratan tinggi, memiliki suhu rendah, kondisi tanah yang subur dan sehingga cocok untuk budidaya tanaman herbal, termasuk temukunci. Polifenol dalam ekstrak tumbuhan bereaksi dengan pereaksi redoks spesifik, dalam hal ini yaitu pereaksi F-C dapat membentuk kompleks biru yang dapat diukur dengan spektrofotometri. Dalam penelitian ini dilaporkan bahwa kandungan fenolik total EEBR adalah 18.32± 0.615 atau setara dengan 183,83 mgGAE/100 g.
