ABSTRAK Desa Adat Serangan merupakan salah satu desa yang berada di Kecamatan Denpasar Selatan, Bali.Desa Adat Serangan memiliki potensi yang sangat kuat untuk menjadi desa wisata karena didukung oleh pesona alam dan nilai-nilai sosial budaya sebagai destinasi wisata yang maju seiring dengan kemajuan destinasi pariwisata sekitarnya.Dalam menyukseskan hal tersebut, tidak dapat dipungkiri bahwa Bahasa adalah salah satu aspek yang harus dikuasai, karena bahasa merupakan sarana dalam berkomunikasi dan kenyataan dilapangan tidak semua kelompok kerja dapat berbicara dengan menggunakan bahasa Inggris yang komunikatif, salah satunya kelompok penyedia jasa transportasi yang dikenal dengan sebutan “Serangan Transport. Tujuan dari pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian di Desa ini untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris kelompok kerja “Serangan Transport” agar lebih komunikatif.Kegiatan pengabdian fokus pada kegiatan pelatihan bahasa Inggrisdengan materi yang disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan komunikasi kelompokdan metode pengajaran yang disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan kelompok “Serangan Transport”. Diharapkan dari pelatihan ini, dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris para penyedia jasa transportasi agar lebih komunikatif dalam berkomunikasi dengan tamu asing yang tentunya akan berdampak pada keberhasilan pihak desa menjadikan Desa Adat Serangan menjadi Desa Wisata Bahari. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan di desa Serangan adalah metode ceramah dan diskusi yang fokus pada kegiatan pelatihan bahasa Inggris untuk kelompok sasaran yaitu kelompok kerja “Serangan Transport” di desa Serangan. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi dari masing masing peserta pelatihan, menunjukan bahwa beberapa peserta mendapatkan nilai baik dan sebagian lainnya mendapatkan nilai yang sangat baik.Sehingga dapat dikatakan bahwa peserta pelatihan dinilai telah mampu mengikuti dan memahami materi – materi yang diberikan dalam pelatihan bahasa Inggris ini. Kata Kunci: Pelatihan, Bahasa Inggris, Serangan, Desa Wisata, Kelompok Transport ABSTRACT Serangan Village is one of the villages in South Denpasar, Bali. This village was located in an island called Serangan Island which was parted from the main island. This village has a great potential to be a tourist village and becoming a flourishing tourist destination which is not inferior to the other destinations since it is supported by the enchanment of its nature and the socio – cultural values. In succeeding this, it cannot be denied that mastering English language is a very important aspect because language is an equipment to communicate,but the fact is not all of the team works have the fluency in spoken English. One of them is the transportation team work called ‘Serangan Transport”.The aim of having this community service in the village, peculiarly in this transportation team work,is to increase the competence in using communicative English. The activities of this community service are focused on the communication needs and the method of teaching the language which is suitable for the team work activities.It was expected that through this course, the English language ability of this team work is increasing, in order to be more communicative when having the conversations with foreign tourists. This certainly will give influences to the success of forming the Serangan village as the nautical tourist village. The method that used in this program is explanation and discussing focused to larning English in communication for the team work in Serangan village. Based on the result of the evaluation shown that some of the members have got good value and some another got the best value. So it means that program has been success and the members have understood about the English comunication leason. The aims of this research is to analyse about the differences of emotional lexicon used by male and female communication in South Kuta-Bali when they used Balinese language in their daily interaction. The scope of male and female is closely related to the social behavior which includes the social identity of male and female in society and this becomes the basis of how the language is used in this context of social. This research is interested to uncover more how people use language in terms of expressing their emotional in social interaction. This study is a sociolinguistic approach used the theory from Hickey, Raymon (2010). The data source in this study is the south Kuta community who use Balinese language in social interactions. The Data collection is done by observation, interview, recording and note taking and descriptive qualitative method is applied to analyze the data. The result of the analysis found that the emotional lexical is used by the male and female in their social interaction, it could mention that both Augmentatives and Euphemisms is used by male and female in their social interaction however the augmentative is mostly used by female in informal occasion. Balinese female often used prohibition instead of imperative in expressing her idea about ordering someone to do something. In the other hand, the male directly used imperative sentence in ordering something. He usually does not use many awkwardness to say his point in a conversation. This may be considered that the male often go to the straight point when expressing his idea. Keywords: Emotional Lexicon, Male and Female

Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan di Desa Guwang, Kecamatan Sukawati, Kabupaten Gianyar. Dari hasil analisis situasi dan permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra, tim pengabdi memberi solusi guna memperbesar kesempatan bagi para komunitas pemandu wisata freelance di daerah sasaran untuk meningkatkan kompetensi dalam berkomunikasi di depan umum. Solusi yang ditawarkan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mitra dalam berbicara di depan umum adalah dengan pelatihan public speaking. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah: (1) Respon positif dan antusias dari peserta pelatihan, (2) Meningkatnya kemampuan dalam melakukan komunikasi di depan umum sebagai pemandu wisata, (3) Meningkatknya rasa percaya diri dan bersedia mengambil resiko dalam berpartisipasi kepada wisatawan. (4) Meningkatnya kosakata, tatabahasa, pengucapan dan pelafalan. (5) Bertambahnya kemampuan peserta pelatihan dalam berkomunikasi secara lisan baik secara individu/monolog maupun secara berpasangan (6) Meningkatkanya kemampuan peserta pelatihan dalam berkomunikasi dengan mitra tutur dalam situasi yang dinamis dan menyenangkan/ tidak membosankan. This program aims to give English training to Educator at SMP Angkasa, Tuban-Kuta, Bali. In general, the priority problems faced by educators in SMP Angkasa are the low quality of spoken and written English communication in understanding English vocabulary which is often used in the learning process. This is due to a lack of mastery of English vocabulary, lack of understanding of English theory, and lack of motivation to improve their English language skills. Besides that, most of the educators at SMP Angkasa are educators from various disciplines, so mastering English for them is not a priority. The training is focused on providing material on how to communicate well in transferring learning materials to students by communicating in English. Enrich the vocabulary that is often used by educators in the implementation of the teaching and learning process. This community service activities uses methods in the form of application of science and technology with an orientation towards providing English language training and training in communication skills through lectures, demonstrations, and questions and answers. From the English training given to educators at SMP Angkasa, it can be seen that the progressive progress of the trainees towards the use of English for oral and written communication. The progress in communication is evidenced by the use of English when delivering material in class. Furthermore, the ability to listen to the simple spoken conversations of the trainees has also increased, which can be seen during the training. Teachers use full English as the language of instruction during training and trainees can carry out the instructions given at that time well. Finally, there is progress in the ability to read and write simple information from the trainees. This is evidenced by the teaching material prepared by the training participants which is compiled in English and then discussed with the students in their respective classes also in the language of instruction is English.

Tantangan dalam melakukan proses belajar mengajar secara daring adalah memastikan materi pelajaran dapat tersampaikan dengan baik kepada peserta didik. Berdasarkan pengamatan yang dilakukan di SDN 11 Dauh Puri Denpasar, khususnya di kelas 3, materi pembelajaran belum tersampaikan dengan baik karena hanya mengandalkan media pembelajaran yang konvensional yaitu buku lembar kerja siswa (LKS) yang dimiliki siswa dan dikerjakan oleh siswa berdasarkan instruksi melalui pesan pada WhatsApp. Kegiatan ini berupaya untuk memberikan pilihan lain dalam menyampaikan materi Bahasa Inggris pada siswa-siswa sekolah dasar SDN 11 Dauh Puri Denpasar, sehingga materi pelajaran yang telah tersusun dapat tersampaikan dengan baik dan optimal. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini observasi, questionnaire dan metode demonstrasi melalui video pembelajaran. Selain itu, latihan intensif diberikan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana pemahaman peserta didik terhadap materi yang diberikan. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah metode video pembelajaran yang di lakukan di sekolah dasar ini membantu peserta didik untuk lebih memahami materi yang disampaikan, karena mereka dapat melihat dan mendengarkan secara langsung bagaimana pengajar mengucapkan kata atau kalimat dalam Bahasa Inggris. Selain itu, video pembelajaran menjadi kegiatan yang terintegrasi untuk mempelajari keempat keterampilan berbahasa, yaitu, reading, writing dan listening.

Kesantunan dalam ranah keluarga perkawinan antar bangsa sangat penting untuk dikaji agar terjalin komunikasi harmonis tanpa terjadi kesalahpahaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan kesantunan yang digunakan ranah keluarga perkawinan antar bangsa Jepang dengan Bali. Penelitian kualitatif ini menggunakan metode observasi dengan teknik pengumpulan data menyimak, mencatat, merekam dan mewawancarai keluarga perkawinan campur secara natural. Untuk meningkatkan validitas data, maka teknik triangulasi data yang sesuai dengan pola pikir secara fenomenologi yang bersifat multiperspektif digunakan Analisis data induktif kualitatif menggunakan analisis domain untuk membedakan jenis data sebenarnya dilanjutkan dengan analisis taksonomi, analisis komponensial, dan analisis tema budaya. Teknik penyajian hasil analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis secara informal menggunakan kata-kata biasa. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa ada kesantunan yang digunakan pada ranah keluarga perkawinan campur Jepang dan Bali. Meskipun memiliki budaya yang berbeda, namun Ibu Jepang mengimplementasikan pola kesantunan ala masyarakat Bali. Strategi kesantunan yang digunakan adalah strategi kesantunan negatif ditandai dengan pilihan ragam hormat, kalimat interogatif sedangkan wujud dari strategi kesantunan positif ditunjukkan dengan perhatian, rasa simpati dan strategi tutura secara tidak langsung untuk menghindari kesalahpahaman. POLITENESS IN THE REALM OF JAPANESE AND BALINESE INTERMARRIAGE FAMILYPoliteness in the realm of family intermarriage is very important to be studied in order to create harmonious communication without having misunderstandings. This study aims to find out the politeness used in the realm of the marriage family between the Japanese and Balinese. This qualitative research uses the observation method with data collection techniques: listening, recording, recording, and interviewing mixed marriage families naturally. To increase the validity of the data, data triangulation techniques that are in accordance with the phenomenological mindset that is multi-perspective are used. Qualitative inductive data analysis uses domain analysis to distinguish the actual data types, followed by taxonomic analysis, componential analysis, and cultural theme analysis. The technique of presenting the results of data analysis is using analysis techniques informally with ordinary words. The results of the analysis show that politeness is implied in the Japanese and Balinese mixed marriage families. Although they have different cultures, Japanese mothers implement the Balinese style of politeness patterns. The politeness strategy used is a negative politeness strategy characterized by the choice of a variety of respect, interrogative sentences, while the form of a positive politeness strategy is indicated by attention, sympathy, and indirect speech strategies to avoid misunderstandings.

Code switching is a phenomenon that will always occurs in bilingual community. People will consciously do code switching in their communication when they have the ability to speak two or more languages. It occurred not only in oral communication but also when they used written form communication on social media like Instagram. This study aimed to analyze the types and speech function of code switching found in parents’ comments on Instagram. This study used qualitative descriptive method to create clear and well organize analysis of the data. The data itself collected from Parentalk.ID Instagram comment section, from feeds posted on May until October 2021. In analyzing the data, the writer used the theory proposed by Romaine (1995) to identify the types of code switching and Appel & Muysken (1987) to analyze the speech functions of code switching from the data source. The study concluded that the most types of code switching used is intra-sentential switching and the speech functions are metalinguistic function that used to show off someone’s language skill and referential function that occurred because of lack of knowledge or language facility

This study involves the discovery of verbal and non-verbal signs, which also describe themeaning of verbal and non-verbal signs found in the facial wash commercial advertisements. The datawere taken from three printed facial wash advertisements. The data source has been taken from theinternet. This study used the semiotic hypothesis provided by Saussure (1983: 65) to find out theverbal and non-verbal signs and the theoretical meaning provided by Barthes (1977) to find out themeaning of verbal and non-verbal signs in the facial wash ads. The analysis used a descriptivequalitative approach to analyze the results. As a result, the three facial wash ads show verbal and nonverbalsigns that enable the company to market its product. In the verbal signs of the advertising, mostof them contain denotative meaning and non-verbal signs which is in part, contain connotativemeaning in certain advertisements. Two advertisements used a female as a model; one advertisementused a male as a model. This means that advertisers seek to gain public attention through the use ofpretty females, popular figures and natural extracts or ingredients.

When the students are able to identify derivational affix, they can develop their vocabulary because from just one word it can gain many words with different part of speech. Novel is a long essay in prose and contains a series of human life stories with others around them with accentuate the character and nature of the actor. In The Hobbit, the story inspired by a children fantasy. From having seeing such phenomenon, the writer found that mastering English is not easy if the students are lack of vocabulary. This research aimed to find out the derivational affixes in in in The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien novel. This research is descriptive qualitative research where researcher tries to find out the derivational affix and the roots from the words in The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien novel without using statistical calculation. In this research the writer uses all of words that are attached prefix and suffix as the data. The data source is all the chapters which are the beginning of the story, rising the case and the solution in The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien novel. The result of analyzing data was gained the derivational affixes that found in in The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien novel showed words are 100 (derivational suffixes).Then the roots from the words that also found are 27 (adjective derived from verb), 49 (noun derived from verb), 3 (verb derived from noun) and adverb derived from adjective (21) Keywords: Function of Derivational Affixes, novel, root, base

This study is aimed to analyze the meaning of verbal and non-verbal signs which are found in Nivea Nourishing body lotion Signs are commonly used in advertisements in order to make them attractive and can deliver the messages properly. This research used a qualitative data collection approach and the data source came from YouTube Nivea Body advertising for the Nivea Nourishing body lotion. Saussure's (1983) semiotic theory uses this research issue to evaluate verbal and non-verbal signs and Barthes' (1977) theory of meaning to examine the meaning of verbal and non-verbal signs in advertising for body lotion. 5 verbal signs and 9 nonverbal signs were included in the result. In advertisements, most of these signs contain connotative and denotative meanings, with 1 denotative meaning and 13 connotative meanings identified by the researcher. In all ads, the use of connotative significance is prevalent because advertisers use hidden meanings to communicate messages and encourage buyers to try these goods.
