Abstract

STRENGTHENING TEACHER PEDAGOGICAL COMPETENCIES THROUGH THE USE OF DYNAMIC GEOMETRY SOFTWARE IN MATHEMATICS LEARNING. The selection of strategies, methods, models, and media of appropriate mathematics learning is a form of implementation of a teacher's pedagogical competence. In the 2013 curriculum, the teacher not only sets a scientific approach as a reference in implementing the learning process but also demands innovation to accommodate the right media as well. The role of instructional media, especially dynamic media, is very important in learning mathematics in both elementary and junior high schools. The media was used to explain abstract mathematical problems to be concrete, motivate students, stimulate student learning activities, and help the effectiveness of the learning process. Technological devices such as computers are one of the tools that can be used as dynamic mathematics learning media. Mathematical learning collaboration with ICT devices has been widely carried out in urban and rural areas in Indonesia. Dynamic Geometry Software (DGS) in the form of GeoGebra is a learning medium specifically developed to facilitate the learning of geometry, algebra, and calculus. Therefore, this community service activity (PkM) is intended to strengthen the teacher's pedagogical competence through the use of dynamic learning media using Dynamic Geometry Software (DGS) in the form of GeoGebra in mathematics learning in junior high schools. This PkM aims to train teachers to be able to operate or create mathematics learning media assisted by DGS, especially in learning geometry to students. By making their own, teachers can add insight and increase creativity in making learning media. The supported subjects in these community service activities were junior high school mathematics teachers in Ruteng City. As for the results obtained after the PKM activities, the teachers can operate and create mathematics learning media using DGS in the form of GeoGebra.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan memahami konsep matematika yang diajarkan siswa menggunakan model pembelajaran Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) dengan kemampuan memahami konsep matematika yang diajarkan siswa dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran langsung pada siswa kelas VIII di SMPN 2 Langke Rembong. NTT, Indonesia. Quasi Experimental Research dengan desain Posttest-Only Control Group Design melibatkan siswa kelas 358 di SMP 2 Langke Rembong, yang berjumlah 355 orang. 65 anggota sampel dipilih menggunakan random sampling. Analisis data menggunakan statistik parametrik melalui uji-t yang didahului dengan melakukan uji prasyarat analisis. Perhitungan ukuran efek dilakukan untuk melihat seberapa besar pengaruh model pembelajaran CUP terhadap pemahaman siswa tentang konsep matematika menggunakan persamaan Hedges. Sebagai hasil analisis disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan untuk memahami konsep matematika siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan model pembelajaran CUP lebih baik daripada kemampuan untuk memahami konsep matematika siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan model pembelajaran langsung, pada tingkat signifikansi 0,05. Analisis lebih lanjut memperoleh ukuran efek 0, 53 yang menunjukkan bahwa efek CUPs pada kemampuan siswa untuk memahami konsep matematika berada dalam kategori sedang. Ini berarti bahwa penerapan model CUP tidak memiliki pengaruh besar pada kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa. Fakta ini memberikan pertimbangan bagi pendidik dan peneliti untuk mempertimbangkan variabilitas yang mungkin memediasi efek CUP pada kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa. 53 menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh CUPs pada kemampuan siswa untuk memahami konsep matematika berada dalam kategori sedang. Ini berarti bahwa penerapan model CUP tidak memiliki pengaruh besar pada kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa. Abstract

Prestasi belajar matematika merupakan istilah yang berhubungan dengan pencapaian hasil belajar yang ditandai dengan penguasaan materi setelah mengikuti pembelajaran. Prestasi belajar matematika siswa pun beragam, dari yang tinggi sampai yang rendah. Berdasarkan fakta-fakta yang ditemukan di lapangan, peneliti berhipotesis bahwa faktor yang mempengaruhi atau yang melatarbelakangi masalah rendahnya prestasi belajar siswa adalah faktor inteligensi dengan indikatornya terletak pada tingkat kemampuan numerik siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara kemampuan numerik dengan prestasi belajar matematika siswa. Populasi dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 647 orang siswa kelas XI APH SMK Sadar Wisata Ruteng. Pemilihan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik proporsional random sampling. Jumlah anggota sampel keseluruhannya adalah 87 siswa. Data kemampuan numerik dan data prestasi belajar matematika siswa dikumpulkan menggunakan metode tes. Hipotesis penelitian diuji dengan menggunakan teknik analisis korelasi. Hasil analisis data dari penelitian ini memberikan nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,612 dan nilai thitung= 7,135 lebih besar dari ttabel= 1,6629 (7,135>1,6629). Selanjutnya Hasil analisis uji signifikan diperoleh nilai thitung = 7,135, sedangkan nilai ttabel = 1,663 pada taraf signifikansi (α) = 0,05 dan dk = n-2 = 87-2= 85. Ternyatayaitu 7,135 > 1,663. Dari hasil analisis ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara kemampuan numerik dengan prestasi belajar matematika siswa, artinya semakin tinggi kemamuan numerik seseorang maka prestasi belajarnya pun semakin baik. Begitupun sebaliknya. Dari hasil analisis juga diperoleh informasi bahwa besarnya sumbangan atau kontribusi kemampuan numerikterhadap prestasi belajar matematikaadalah 37,46%, sedangkan sisanya 62,54% dijelaskan oleh variabel lain yang tidak diteliti.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw berbantuan lembar kerja siswa (LKS) terhadap hasil belajar siswa, secara khusus hasil belajar IPA. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen yang dilakukan di SMPN Lengor, Manggarai NTT. Desain penelitian ini adalah posttest only control group design. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMPN Lengor tahun ajaran 2018/2019 yang berjumlah 120 orang. Sebanyak 47 siswa yang tersebar di dua kelas terpilih sebagai kelompok sampel. Pemilihan sampel menggunakan teknik cluster sampling. dengan Hasil pemilihan tersebut diperoleh kelas VIIIA sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VIIIC sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah tes multiple choice dengan empat alternatif jawaban. Intrumen terlebih dahulu diuji tingkat validitas, reliabilitas, daya beda, dan taraf kesukaran. Data selanjutnya dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji t. Sebelum dilakukan uji hipotesis, terlebih dahulu dilakukan uji asumsi yakni normalitas dan homogenitas. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa nilai rata-rata posttest kelas eksprimen adalah 80.5 dan kelas kontrol sebesar 59,6. Berdasarkan data hasil analisis diperoleh 9,49 dan 1,68 pada taraf signifikan . Karena thitung ≥ ttabel, maka H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima, yang artinya terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar IPA Biologi siswa antara penggunaan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw berbantuan lembar kerja siswa dengan model pembelajaran langsung. Selain itu, dapat pula disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw berbantuan lembar kerja siswa (LKS) berpengaruh positif terhadap hasil belajar IPA Biologi siswa kelas VIII SMPN Lengor-Rahong Utara tahun ajaran 2018/2019.

Abstract

The study aims to develop a mathematical comic’s media of vector material on the subject of vector notation and its operation through the strategy of Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review (PQ4R). Furthermore, the product implemented for senior high school students at SMA N 1 Langke Rembong 2017/2018 academic years to know the quality of the media. The instruments used in this research are mathematical comic evaluation sheet, student response questionnaire, and student achievement mathematics test. The learning aid develops through the development model of ADDIE namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The results show that the validity of learning aid with the criteria passes without revision based on the validator assessment of the material, language, and media with the score of 4.00, 4.00, and 3.75 respectively. For the aspect of practicality, the media includes in passing criteria and appropriate to be used without revision based on teacher's assessment of comic mathematics with score 4.47 and student response questionnaire with score 3.64 with criteria well used in the learning process. Lastly, the potential effects of mathematical comics include in the high standards based on student achievement test with the percentage of mastery by 75%.

Abstract

Constructing representations in the form of visualization can help students connect with problem situations and facilitate students' ability to communicate their understanding of the problem. This implies the ability to translate mathematical concepts. This research is a descriptive study that aims to describe the ability to translate trigonometric ideas from verbal forms to visual forms of students. This research was conducted at mathematics education of STKIP Santu Paulus Ruteng which involved 75 first-level students as a sample. The results of this study indicate that the students’ at the mathematics education department of STKIP Santu Paulus Ruteng, especially in the new semester, were mostly still capable of teaching the translation of trigonometric concepts from verbal to visual forms, some of which were at the PU level with a percentage of 35.2%. In the second level, 30.6% is in the PUSM, SU category, 17.6%, NU is 13.8% and SM is 2.8%. The results of this research can be used as references for high school teachers to find out their graduation profile in terms of translational skills and also input for lecturers to be able to adjust the lecture process based on the characteristics that have been produced

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the learning effectiveness of the PBL model using a scientific approach in Indonesian current curriculum in the context of students’ problem-solving ability in chemistry, specifically in the problem of acid-base solution. This research is designed in a quasi-experiment using a nonequivalent control group design. There were 43 students divided in 2 classes used as the sample in this research. The experiment class 1 was taught by using the PBL learning model of scientific approach while the conventional learning that is usually used by chemistry teachers, is applied in experiment class 2. The finding of the research shows that the PBL learning model using a scientific approach in learning acid-base solutions is highly effective to promote students’ problem-solving.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop an Android-based learning application that is named worked example mechanics. This application was made for learning classical mechanics class IX Natural Sciences Program in Indonesia. This application is specifically designed to train and improve students' ability to draw and interpret Free Body Diagram (FBD). This application contains classic mechanic material content, animated learning of classical mechanics, drawing exercises and interpreting FBD and a self-evaluation system. This application has passed the feasibility test of both the material and the media by Yogyakarta Negeri University physics learning experts. The app is also useful in enhancing the ability to interpret FBD, in trials at Sekolah Menengah Atas 2 Kupang/SMAN 2 Kupang (State Senior High School 2 Kupang), SMAN 3 Kupang, SMA TIMPOLMAS Kupang and State Alyah Madrasah (MAN) 1 Yogyakarta.

Abstract

Geometry is one of the critical subjects of mathematics. It includes concepts as points, lines, planes, space and their relations. Representations of three-dimensional objects using two-dimensional diagrams bring the difficulties of identification of their properties. The subfactors of spatial ability were identified as the primary variables in the performances of students related to geometry subject. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between spatial visualisation and spatial orientation to the students understanding of space geometry concepts matter of the eighth-grade students. There are 60 eighth grade students as a sample of the study. The reliability and the validity studies of the tests were carried out In the first part of the study. In the second part, correlation and regression analyses were carried out. Significant correlations were found between each factor. For clarifying the relationships between more than one-factor multiple regression analyses were used. The results showed that the two predictor variables explained the 65,61 % of the variance in plane geometry test scores. However, a degree of contribution of each factor differed. The relative impact of spatial orientation ability (B=. 55) was higher than the spatial visualisation ability (B=. 28).

Abstract

Problem-posing ability is the ability to make and solve math problems. This research is qualitative research that aims to describe the ability to submit questions about prospective elementary school teachers concerning mathematical disposition. The subject of this research is the students of prospective school level teachers in the 6th semester, amounting to 3 people. The results of this study are (1) prospective primary school teachers with a high mathematical disposition can submit questions based on the information given related to addition and subtraction of ordinary and mixed fractions, the problem presented are in accordance material with moderate difficulty level, able to solve the problems posed with using a good language structure, (2) prospective primary school teacher with a moderate mathematical disposition level can form a story question based on additional information and subtraction of ordinary fractions, the questions submitted are in accordance material with a relatively low difficulty level and using a good language structure. However, unable to solve the problems raised, and (3) prospective primary school teachers with a low mathematical disposition level are not able to ask questions based on the two information provided. The prospective teacher has difficulty making a story question. These conditions have an impact on not fulfilling several other criteria, among others, conformity with the material, answers to the problems raised, language structure and the difficulty level of the question. The results of the study provide recommendations for policymakers on campus to help prospective students of elementary school teachers to develop problem-posing ability according to the level of mathematical disposition.
