Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out how students at SMP Swasta Sinar Sentosa felt about online learning during the covid-19 pandemic. This study uses a quantitative approach to conduct a descriptive investigation. A survey method was used in this study. The information was gathered utilizing a questionnaire at SMP Swasta Sinar Sentosa, 26 of the ninth graders took part in this investigation. The researcher discovered that learning online during the covid-19 pandemic is less effective than learning in the classroom. The students showed positive and negative perceptions. Online learning at SMP Swasta Sinar Sentosa, students learn through a variety of applications, including WhatsApp, Zoom, and Google Classroom. Based on the analysis of the data, the conclusion can be drawn that students’ perceptions of online learning during the covid-19 pandemic have positive perceptions and negative perceptions. This can be seen from the percentage of the data based on some dimensions. Perception related to the dimension of teaching material with a percentage of 71,79 % agree perception related to the dimension of atmosphere or learning environment with a percentage of 74,03 %disagrees, and perception related to students’ interaction with a percentage of 69,22 % disagree. From the finding that has been discussed, the students cannot adapt and adjust to all the dimensions contained in the online learning process.

Abstract

Students’ ability and skill are indicators of education result through long process of teaching and learning. Since the out-break of pandemic Covid-19, some schools have certain problems on delivering their materials or knowledge to the students. The aims of this activity to help students to improve their ability on math  and language  skill on English and Indonesian through free course for a month. To achive the goals above, extracuriculer lecturing and tutoring were done. This activities were started from preparation also coordination to the principle of junior high school at Metodist on Berastagi. The result of this activity shown that there was an improvement on math ability and language skill in term of English and Indonesia. This activity helped students on junior high school to improve their weakness on Math, English and Indonesian.

Abstract

The program of Pengabdian Kepada Masysarakat (Public Community Service) is aimed the literacy improvement training for elementary and junior high school children aims to provide students as well as teachers with information assistance about the importance of literacy for the development of knowledge in Indonesian society. This activity was carried out by lecturers and students from the English Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, HKBP Nommensen University with students from Czech University. The program of PKM Activity was started on July 25th, 2022, and ended on July 26th, 2022. It is very clear that the cause of the low literacy ability (in terms of reading) is the oral tradition that is still rooted in society. In addition, related to elementary schools, the school system still does not provide opportunities for literacy traditions to students. This also happened to students at SD and SMP HKBP Sidorame Medan. This problem is trying to be minimized by conducting community service programs related to literacy for elementary and junior high school students. The Project represents one of the important areas of development of reading literacy in school. The most positive feature is the fact that there are large numbers of identified target groups, not only students but also teachers. Teachers themselves should expose students to literacy. Literacy should become a culture.

Abstract

This research entitled The Readability of Bilingual Comic “Wow of Cinderella” Translation Techniques. This research aimed to describe the translation techniques based on Molina and Albir’s theory and to know the readability of translation used in bilingual comic “Wow of Cinderella”. This research used descriptive qualitative method. Data of this research were sentences in bilingual comic both English and Indonesian. The raters of this research are student of Senior High School, student of University and an English teacher. They are asking to read the bilingual comic then do the questionnaire. In analyzing the data, the writer used comparison method to compare between the SL and TL that were analyzed. The result of this research showed that target text used eighteen translation techniques. They are Adaptation 3%, Amplification 4%, Borrowing 2%, Calque 2%, Compensation 7%, Description 5%, Discursive Creation 1%, Established Equivalence 2%, Generalization 2%, Linguistics Amplification 5%, Linguistics Compression 4%, Literal Translation 34%, Modulation 9%, Particularization 1%, Reduction 5%, Substitution 1%, Transposition 9%, Variation 4%. And the percentage of the readability also shown that Readability 80%, less readability 14,67% and unreadability 5,33%. From the percentage, the researcher concludes that the translation techniques used in this bilingual comic is readability.

Abstract

Reading is an activity done to get message to conveyed by the author through the medium of words or standard language. The aim of this study is to improve the ability of students reading at Primary school of Hadomuan 173187 Grade Five. To achieve the aim of this study, the researcher applied classroom action research method. Population of this study is fourty three students and sample of this study is eighteen students.The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively through reading test . This research shown that the first cycle indicat that there were some students or (94%) who get below of minimum standard ( under 70) and above of minimum standard is 6%. The second cycle indicated that all student achive above of minimum standard is 100%. It can be concluded that language experience approach able to improve the students reading ability. It can be as an alaternative way in teaching reading for primary school at Hadomuan 173187.

Abstract

Learning style is a way that individuals explain how individuals learn or how they are conducted each person to concentrate on the process. The learning styles are individual and should be able to provide information on the different ways each is learned individuals. The aim of this study is to find out the imagery of the learning styles. This study was done with qualitative research design with observation, survey and interview techniques to collect the data. The observation and survey was done to the students while teaching and learning process, however interview was done to confirm the information to the students and teacher. The population of this research is 190 students. Sample of this research is seventy students. This sample was chosen with purposive sampling, based on certain criteria. This research was done when doing kampus mengajar batch four. After collecting and analyzing the data, this research shown that twenty students are auditory, twenty students are visual and thirty students are reading. This findings will give a better impact on teaching method that the teacher should design in the proces of teaching and learning.

Abstract

Reading is an activity done to get message to conveyed by the author through the medium of words or standard language. The objective of this study to improve the reading ability through guided reading procedure on students grade six at Elementary School Rambah Serit. The design of this research is classroom action research. The students at grade six twenty students is the subject of this research. One of the abilities that students must have is ability reading, with the aim that students understand the contents of the reading text which he has read. However, there are still many students who are less able to read English. To improve students' reading skills, the guide reading method is applied. After applying the guide reading method I with the pre-reading stage, reading stage, and post-reading stage. In learning, results are obtained sixth grade students' reading ability. Cycle I obtained students' English reading ability of 20%, cycle II students' reading ability experienced an increase in students' reading English to 60%. It can be concluded that learning using the guide reading method can improve reading comprehension skills of sixth grade elementary school students.

Abstract

Writing is an activity to create a note or information on a media using script. The aim of this study to examine the improvement of students' writing skill at Darma Private Middle School in Medan Johor by implementing communicative method. To achieve the objectives of the research, the authors use classroom action reserach methods. This research involved seventh grade students at Darma Private Middle School Medan. The population of this research is fifty five students and the sample of this research is twenty five students. Data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively through writing tests. To improves students writing skills in English, proven to improve aspects of writing, vocabulary and grammar. This study figure out that students average on writing improve from the first cycle 61,2 to the second cycle 82,4. It can be as alternative way in teaching writing.

Abstract

Persepsi merupakan proses yang ditempuh individu untuk menorganasisasikan dan menafsirkan kesan-kesan indera sehingga setiap individu mempersepsikan suatu benda yang sama secara berbeda-beda yang ditentukan oleh factor fungsional dan faktor struktural.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan persepsi mahasiswa peserta KM 2 dan 3 terhadap profil lulusan prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia dan Pendidikan Matematika FKIP UHN Medan. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif dengan menggunakan skala likert. Sumber data berasal dari respon peserta KM 2 dan 3 yang disebarkan oleh tim peneliti dari total peserta KM 325 Namun responden yang mengisi adalah responden melalui google form. Hal ini diamati dari hasil kuesioner dengan menggunakan skala likert. selanjutnya, hasil dari kuesioner pada taraf pengembagan ketrampilan mencapaikan hasil meningkat sebesar 64%, sangat meningkat dengan hasil 33,3% dan kurang meningkat hanya 4%. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa hasil kuesioner memiliki nilai positif dengan taraf 73.3% yang termasuk pada kategori cukup baik.

Abstract

Mengajar pada hakekatnya ialah membelajarkan siswa, dalam arti mendorong dan membimbing siswa belajar. Membelajarkan siswa mengandung maksud agar guru berupaya mengaktifkan siswa belajar. Pembinaan bagi anak anak UPT. SDN.030385 Antuang yang di gelar di salah satu pemukiman warga kecamatan siempat nempu . pendekatan yang digunakan dalam pkm ini di dasarkan pada langkah langkah sebagai berikut.Pelatihan gratis dilakukan selama 3 minggu terhitung mulai tanggal 6 februari 2023 sampai dengan 25 februari 2023 . namun kegiatan ini tidak dilakukan setiap hari melainkan tiga kali pertemuan dalam seminggu dengan sasaran seluruh siswa UPT. SDN 030385 Antuang dan dilaksanakan sepulang sekolah .jumlah seleuruh siswa yang mengikuti bimbingan belajar gratis seluruh siswa. Sedangkan pada hari sabtu dilakukan untuk menganalisis catatan dan refleksi dari pelaksanaan bimbingan belajar gratis. Dalam mencapai tujuan yang diharapkan dari pkm di SDN.030385 Antuang dilakukan,maka tim pkm bersama dengan unsur sekolah melakukan bimbingan belajar di jam luar sekolah yang berada di lokasi sekolah tersebut.bimbingan belajar dilakukan dengan metode berkelompok,ceramah, praktek dan penyelesaian materi pembelajaran matematika,bahasa indonesia,bahasa inggris,ppkn, dan ipa yang didapat dari pembelajaran sekolah untuk meningkatkan kompetensi siswa melalui pelatihan materi terhadap proses kajian pembelajaran kreatif pelaksaan kegiatan. Dengan adanya Program bimbingan belajar gratis di SDN.030385 Antuang para siswa siswi akan diberikan bantuan untuk memahami pelajaran , seperti matematika, bahasa Inggris, Bahasa indonesia, ppkn dan IPA. Selain itu, para siswa juga akan diberikan pembelajaran tentang bagaimana cara belajar yang efektif.
