Abstract

Judul tesis ini adalah “Analisis Tindak Pidato dan Gaya Bahasa Berdasarkan Struktur Kalimat dalam Film John Wick” Dalam penulisan makalah ini, penulis menerapkan kajian linguistik dengan menerapkan Metode Deskriptif Kualitatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pemanfaatan tindak tutur dan gaya bahasa dalam konteks film John Wick. Desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian mengidentifikasi tiga jenis tindak tutur: Tindak lokusi (52,38%), Tindak ilokusi (42,85%), dan Tindak perlokusi (4,76%). Gaya bahasa yang digunakan dalam “John Wick Movie” adalah Climax (10,20%), Anti-climax (61,22%), Parallelism (10,20%), Antithesis (4,08%), dan Repetition (14,20%), 25%). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa tindak lokusi (52,38%) merupakan tindak tutur yang paling dominan, sedangkan tindak tutur anti-klimaks (61,22%) merupakan gaya bahasa yang paling dominan. Temuan ini menyoroti penggunaan bahasa yang rumit dalam konteks film dan implikasinya terhadap pemahaman penonton terhadap narasi yang disajikan.

Abstract

Machine translation is widely used in translating the original language to the target one. Accuracy is a crucial thing that translator need restructure in target language. The objective of this research to describe the impact of machine translation on translation accuracy. The researcher designed this study with qualitative method. The researchers applied purposive sampling in this research based on it’s criteria. In addition to that, there are two types of data in this research, they are objective and affective. There are two instruments that the researchers used to collect data, the first is instruction for translating short film entitled “roda kehidupan”. The students are asked to translate short film with the help of machine, without machine translation and final version of translation. The second instrumen is translation accuracy’s indicator which formulated in indicator form. The translation accuracy indicator (questionnaire) is distributed to inter-raters. The result of this study shown that the accuracy of translation without machine translation (first version) is inaccurate (1,5) however the accuracy of translation with machine translation (second version) categorized less accurate (2,4) and the translation accuracy on the final version of translation is 2,3 (less accurate). The reseachers suggest the translator and lecture need to use machine translation in translating but human touch (post-editting of translation) is really important to achive high translation quality.

Abstract

This research shows that there were several problems faced by students at SMA Negeri 2 Alasa in learning English, especially learning reading comprehension. Therefore, researcher was interested in conducting research entitled " Improving Students’ Reading Comprehension by Using Story Pyramid and Plus Minus Interesting Strategy at the Tenth Grade of SMA Negeri 2 Alasa". This research aims to observe the learning difficulties of these students, whether using the Story Pyramid and Plus Minus Interesting strategies could improve reading comprehension skills of the tenth grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Alasa and find out which strategy was more effective in improving reading comprehension skills. In this research, the researcher used classroom action research (CAR). CAR is an examination of learning activities in the form of an action, which is carried out to improve the teaching and learning process so as to improve learning outcomes that are better than before. Based on the results of the analysis, the pre-test results in class X-IPS which used the Story Pyramid strategy obtained an average score of 61.05%, while in class X-IPA got 56,84%. After the students learned by using these two strategies, the average post-test score for class X-IPS was 73.68% and class X-IPA was 74.21%. From these calculations it was concluded that there was a significant improvement in students' scores in reading comprehension and the use of Plus Minus Interesting strategy was more effective in improving students' reading comprehension with an average score increase of 17.37% compared to Story Pyramid's 12.63%.

Abstract

Based on research conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Alasa, researchers found that there were several problems in learning to write English faced by students at SMA Negeri 2 Alasa. Students often have difficulty composing a paragraph by writing down their own ideas. Therefore, researchers conducted research entitled "Improving the students' writing recount text ability by using Think Talk Write and Self-Regulated Strategy Development at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 2 Alasa North Nias". This research aims to observe the improvement of students' writing skills using Think Talk Write and Self-Regulated Strategy Development, whether there was an improvement in learning outcomes and what strategies were more effectively used between the two strategies. In this research, researcher used classroom action research which is applies treatments to improve learning outcomes that are better than before. From this research, the average pre-test score for class XI-IPS was 52.14% and class XI-IPA was 42.86%. After being given Think Talk Write strategy treatment in class XI-IPS, the average post-test score was 72.35% and in class XI-IPA using Self-Regulated Strategy Development with an average score of 73.57%. From these score, it can be seen that there has been a significant improvement in students' writing abilities, namely 20.21% in class XI-IPS and class XI-IPA 30.71%. Thus, it is concluded that using Think Talk Write and Self-Regulated Strategy Development can improve students' ability in writing recount texts and in this research Self-Regulated Strategy Development is more effective than Think Talk Write strategy.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui teknik dan metode penerjemahan apa yang digunakan oleh penerjemah dalam film tersebut dan mengumpulkan data bahwa penulis mengambil seluruh subtitle dan membuat transkrip subtitle tersebut. Penulis menganalisis satu per satu kalimat ke dalam teknik penerjemahan atau metode penerjemahan sehingga diperoleh hasil. Setelah dianalisa penulis menemukan 7 teknik penerjemahan dan 4 metode penerjemahan dalam film Tinkerbell the Pirate Fairy yang merupakan teknik penerjemahan yang penulis temukan 7 teknik penerjemahan dan 4 metode penerjemahan dalam film Tinkerbell the Pirate Fairy yang merupakan Teknik penerjemahan yang penulis temukan adalah terjemahan kompensasi ditemukan 2 kali (1%), terjemahan literal ditemukan 85 kali (61%), modulasi ditemukan 4 kali (3%), reduksi ditemukan 7 kali (6%), amplifikasi ditemukan 31 kali (22). %), variasi ditemukan 2 kali (1%) dan calque ditemukan 7 kali (6%). Dan metode penerjemahan yang penulis temukan adalah penerjemahan kata demi kata ditemukan sebanyak 66 kali (53,70%), Terjemahan Bebas ditemukan sebanyak 31 kali (22%), Terjemahan Setia ditemukan sebanyak 26 kali (19%) dan Terjemahan Idiomatik ditemukan sebanyak 15 kali (11). %).

Abstract

This research was conducted to describe the forms and the roles of phatic communion employed by characters in the movie entitled Me Before You. This research used the pragmatic approach. This research was a descriptive qualitative research. The dialogs containing the phatic communion were taken as data. The result of the analysis can be seen as follows: First, there are four forms of phatic communion employed by the characters in the movie entitled Me Before You, namely ritual words that are exchanged when people meet, standard topic of conversation, supportive chat and meaningless word or misunderstood words. The total number of forms of phatic communion are; Ritual words that are exchanged when people meet 3 utterances = 9.00%, Standard Topic of Conversation 11 utterances = 34.37%, Supportive Chat 14 utterances = 43.75%, Meaningless words or even misunderstood words 4 utterances = 12.88%. Second, there are three roles of phatic communion, namely opening phase, middle phase, closing phase. The total number of roles of phatic communion are; Opening phase 3 utterances = 60.00%, Middle phase 1 utterances = 20.00, and Closing phase 11 utterances = 20.00%. Phatic communion occurs both in formal or informal situation and the relationship between the participants can be intimate or distant. It can happen in both higher and lower status. The atmosphere is commonly good but if the atmosphere is bad, phatic communion utterances will help to turn into the good one. The attitude of the participants while uttering phatic communion utterances is usually sympathetic. It can be seen from the low tone. At last, phatic communion functions to establish and maintain social relationship between people in society. Keywords: Pragmatics, Phatic Communion, Me Before You movie.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the teachers’ ways of designing creative English teaching learning material and to understand the factors of designing creative teaching material. The subjects of this study were ten Pra-Service Teacher Professional Education (PPG). This study used a descriptive qualitative research design. The data used to analyze were the transcripts of video learning and interviews. In the data analysis, it is found that there were seven aspects in designing their creative English learning material: 1) using an eclectic choice of method, 2) using activities that have creative dimensions, 3) teaching in a flexible way or adjusting and modifying the teaching during lessons, 4) looking for new ways of doing something, 5) adapting lessons, 6) using technology, and 7) looking for creative ways to motivate students. As a result, all the teachers apply those seven aspects during their teaching-learning process. There were three factors why English teachers design creative English teaching learning material: 1) the learning material is contextualized, 2) the learning material is designed for students' needs, and 3) personalization. After analyzing the data, it could be decided that all teachers have those three factors in designing their creative English learning material. Pre-service teacher Professional Education (PPG) was quite creative in designing teaching-learning materials. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan cara guru merancang bahan ajar bahasa Inggris yang kreatif dan untuk memahami faktor-faktor dalam merancang bahan ajar yang kreatif. Subyek penelitian ini adalah sepuluh Prajabatan Pendidikan Profesi Guru (PPG), Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian deskriptif kualitatif, Data yang digunakan untuk menganalisis adalah transkrip video pembelajaran dan transkrip wawancara. Dalam analisis data ditemukan tujuh aspek dalam merancang materi pembelajaran bahasa Inggris kreatif mereka, 1) menggunakan pilihan metode yang eklektik, 2) menggunakan aktivitas yang berdimensi kreatif, 3) mengajar dengan cara yang fleksibel atau menyesuaikan dan memodifikasi pengajaran pada saat pembelajaran, 4) mencari cara-cara baru dalam melakukan sesuatu, 5) mengadaptasi pembelajaran, 6) menggunakan teknologi, dan 7) mencari cara-cara kreatif untuk memotivasi siswa. Hasilnya, seluruh guru menerapkan ketujuh aspek tersebut dalam proses belajar mengajar. Dan ada 3 faktor mengapa guru bahasa Inggris merancang materi pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang kreatif, 1) materi pembelajaran dikontekstualisasikan, 2) materi pembelajaran dirancang sesuai kebutuhan siswa, dan 3) personalisasi. Setelah menganalisis data, dapat diputuskan bahwa semua guru memiliki ketiga faktor tersebut dalam merancang materi pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang kreatif. Abstract

Community Service (PkM) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) HKBP Nomensen University Medan is a service program carried out by a team of students and DPL lecturers with the title "Literacy and Numeracy Tutoring for Elementary and Middle School Level Children in Nagori Sihalpe Village, District. Haranggaol Horizon”. Implementation of literacy and numeracy guidance is a fundamental competency that has an important role in determining the quality of a nation. In the field of education, especially at the elementary and junior high school levels, literacy and numeracy competencies are made the focus of learning and set as competency standards that students must have. Literacy and numeracy can provide provisions for students to adapt to life outside the classroom. However, in fact, the literacy and numeracy competencies of students in Indonesia are still low and education is also not as developed as it should be, so it is far behind other countries. Community Service (PkM) in Nagori village is carried out by providing tutoring activities to improve literacy and numeracy for elementary school and junior high school aged children in the area where students live.
