Abstract

This research has been conducted to obtain the feasibility or validity of learning model based on multiple representations that has been developed. The development of this model is done to enhance learning model SiMaYang, to be applied to high school students by integrating scientific approach into the model SiMaYang, hereinafter called SiMaYang type 2. The study was conducted through field surveys in advance to obtain a picture of the learning needs of the chemical, further will be designed the model and the learning device. The results of the development of model of learning and teaching tools were tested by experts to obtain the validity/feasibility of the developed model. Test of experts were conducted by 5 people relevant experts. The results of the research showed that (1) SiMaYang learning model of type 2 is a high school chemistry teaching model based on multiple representations that have characteristics consistent with the foundation of constructivism learning theory, the theory of information processing, and dual coding theory. The purpose of this model is to teach abstract concepts, and it is associated with a macro phenomenon, sub-micro, and symbolic, and teaches skills in building a mental model to optimize the ability of imagination. Phases of the SiMaYang learning model has a characteristic of collaborative, cooperative, and imaginative. (2) The validity/feasibility of SiMaYang learning model of type 2 was high, where the results of the expert appraisal indicates that the content validity and construct validity of the model SiMaYangtype 2 has a high category.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the difference between the increase of mental models, the increase of concept mastery,the characteristics of mental models which excavated, and the student response after followed the IFSO framework and expository learning on the concept of chemical bond. This study is a quasi-experiments conducted to the students in grade X of SMA N 1 Way Lima, Pesawaran with a population of 68 respondents. Based on the result, that (1)  the increase of students mental model which followed the IFSO framework learning with N-Gain 0,45 was better than the students who followed the expository with N-Gain 0,36; (2) the increase of  student concept of mastery in which followed the IFSO framework learning with N-Gain 0,50 was better than the students who followed the expository with N-Gain 0,34.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan peningkatan model mental, peningkatan penguasaan konsep, karakteristik model mental yang tergali, dan respon siswa setelah mengikuti pembelajaran kerangka IFSO dan pembelajaran ekspositori pada konsep ikatan kimia.Penelitian ini bersifat quasi eksperimen yang dilakukan pada siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Way Lima, Pesawaran dengan populasi sebanyak 68 responden. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa(1) peningkatan model mental siswa setelah mengikuti pembelajaran kerangka IFSO dengan N-Gain 0,45 lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran ekspositori dengan N-Gain 0,36; (2) peningkatan penguasaan konsep siswa setelah  mengikuti pembelajaran kerangka IFSO dengan N-Gain 0,50 lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran ekspositori dengan N-Gain 0,34.Kata kunci: kerangka IFSO,model mental, penguasaan konsep

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of multiple representation-based learning (MRL) model compared to discovery learning (DL) model and problem based learning (PBL) model in terms of students’ initial abilities. The factorial design was used in this study. The selection of samples in this study was done through a random sampling technique. Three X classes of the same school was chosen. The three classes applied different learning model. The first class employed the MRL, the second class used the DL model, and the last class adopted the PBL model. Overall, the number of samples involved in the study was 117 students. The results of the study showed that the conceptual understanding of students learning using MRL was significantly different from students learning to use problem-based learning with significant differences in N-gain was 0.0004, but not significantly different from students using discovery learning. This finding showed that MRL is the most effective model for increasing the conceptual understanding of students with “low” and “moderate” initial ability compared to PBL and DL.

Abstract

Several studies have shown that mental models can affect a student's ability to perform reasoning on external representation faced. Student mental models are generally used to thinking in order to solve the problem. This study aims to look at the characteristics of mental models beginning of students in understand the concept of atomic structure. Samples were taken at random from the students of Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, class of 2012 with the grouping based on students' prior knowledge. The number of samples involved as many as 72 people consisting of students with the prior knowledge of high, medium, and low. Diagnostic tests are used to see the essays shaped the emergence of mental models.  The results showed that for all groups of prior knowledge, mental models beginning of students in understand the concept of atomic structure is still dominated by verbal mental model with the category of "very bad" and "bad" or the characteristics of mental model "formless/not clear" and mental model "intermediates_1." These results imply that the mental models of students can be used as a reference in setting learning to help students in solving problems related to the three levels of chemical phenomenon. To build a mental models of students towards a better, should be designed study involving interconnected between the third-levels of chemical phenomenon (macro, sub-micro, and symbolic).

Abstract

This research was aimed to: 1) describe the implementation of teaching learning of natural science, 3) describe the response of the implementation of teaching learning of natural science.This research was the classroom action research, with two classes as the research subjects, class VIA and VIB. The data were collected through questionnaire, observation and test, and also were analyzed using quantative descriptive.The research resulted: 1) the implementation design of science learning using visual media (picture) prepared learning devices, determined the media to be used, assessed the implementation of learning, the reaction and the activity.2) the implementation of cycle1 showed in the lowest point when the teacher interacted and indicated at the highest point when the students responded in reading the task result, cycle 2 denoted in the lowest point regarding the scoring of teachers attitude and showed the highest level when teacher responded the idea, cycle 3 represented the lowest level when the teacher interacted with the students and reached the highest level when the teacher responded the students ideas.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk 1) mendeskripsikan keterlaksanaan pembelajaran IPA, 3) mendeskripsikan respon pelaksanaan pembelajaran IPA.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas, dengan subjek penelitian dua kelas yaitu siswa kelas VIA dan VIB. Data dikumpulkan dengan angket, observasi dan tes, dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian ini 1) desain pelaksanaan pembelajaran IPA menggunakan media visual gambar mempersiapkan perangkat pembelajaran, menentukan media yang akan digunakan, menilai keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, menilai reaksi dan menilai aktifitas.2) keterlaksanaan siklus 1 terendah pada saat guru berinteraksi dan tertinggi pada saat menanggapi siswa dalam membacakan hasil kinerja, siklus 2 terendah pada penilaian prilaku guru dan tertinggi pada kegiatan guru saat menanggapi gagasan, siklus 3 terendah pada saat berinteraksi dengan siswa dan tertinggi pada kegiatan guru saat menanggapi gagasan siswa.Kata kunci : hasil belajar, IPA , media visual gambar

Abstract

Abstract: Effectiveness of Pre-Lecture Quiz to Improving the Critical Thinking. This research was aimed to describe the effectiveness of Pre-Lecture Quiz to improving student’s critical thinking skill on Arrhenius acid-base topic. The research method used was quasi experimental with non-equivalen pretest-posttest control group design. The sample selection was done by cluster random sampling, and XI IPA 4 is obtained as experimental class and XI IPA 5 as control class. The effectiveness of Pre-Lecture Quiz was showed by the significant difference for average n-Gain of flexible thinking skill between the control and experiment class, for control class was 0.53 with middle categorize and for experiment class was 0.70 with high cateogorize. The conclusion of this research is effective Pre-Lecture Quiz and has a high effect size to improving the ability of critical thinking on Arrhenius acid-base topic. Keywords: critical thinking, Pre-Lecture Quiz, Arrhenius acid-base  Abstrak: Efektivitas Pre-Lecture Quiz untuk Meningkatkan Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis Siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas Pre-Lecture Quiz untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi asam basa Arrhenius. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan non-equivalen pretest-posttest control group design. Pemilihan sampel dilakukan secara cluster random sampling, dan diperoleh kelas XI IPA 4 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI IPA 5 sebagai kelas kontrol. Efektivitas Pre-Lecture Quiz ditunjukkan oleh perbedaan rata-rata n-Gain keterampilan berpikir kritis yang signifikan antara kelas kelas kontrol dan eksperimen, yaitu kelas kelas kontrol sebesar 0,53 dengan kategori “sedang” dan eksperimen sebesar 0,70 dengan kategori “tinggi”. Abstract

Abstract: The importance of this research is to get to know the students’ perceptions and motivation of the prospective chemistry teachers in facing online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research design used was descriptive qualitative research. The research was conducted on students of the Chemistry Education Study Program FKIP University of Lampung in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Data collection was carried out by using a questionnaire by means of google form and learning record data in the online data-log mode edusmart.fkip.unila.ac.id. and vclass.unila.ac.id. The results indicated that (1) the interaction pattern between the lecturers and students was quite good in terms of giving assignments and discussions. In terms of feedback and learning reflection, it, however, needs to be improved (2) Students' perception of online learning is less positive, this is indicated by the number of students who are disappointed because of learning methods un-interactive, (3) students are still not motivated yet to take online lectures due to limitation of internet signals and seem to consider it as assignments only.Keywords: COVID-19 pandemic, online learning, motivation, perception. Abstrak: Pentingnya penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi dan motivasi siswa calon guru kimia dalam menghadapi pembelajaran daring selama pandemi Covid-19. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan berupa penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Penelitian dilakukan pada mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Kimia FKIP Universitas Lampung tahun 2017, 2018, dan 2019. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuisioner melalui google form dan data rekam pembelajaran di data-log mode online dari dua situs pembelajaran daring yaitu edusmart.fkip.unila.ac.id. dan vclass.unila.ac.id. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) pola interaksi dosen dan mahasiswa cukup baik dalam hal pemberian tugas dan diskusi. Namun perlu ditingkatkan dalam hal umpan balik dan refleksi pembelajaran., (2) persepsi siswa terhadap pembelajaran online kurang positif, hal ini ditunjukkan dengan banyaknya siswa yang kecewa dengan strategi pembelajaran online yang dinilai kurang interaktif., (3) mahasiswa masih belum termotivasi untuk mengikuti perkuliahan online karena terkendala sinyal.Kata kunci: pandemi COVID-19, pembelajaran daring, motivasi, persepsi.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v22i1.pp77-89

Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed to describe teacher's perception toward usage of interactive e-books based Problem Based Learning (PBL) to Envhance Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). The research was conducted in 50 junior high school science teachers. The method used in this research is a mixed method with Sequential Explanatory Design. The method used in this study is a mixed method with Sequential Explanatory Design. Data is retrieved using questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The survey results show that students have a positive perception of interactive e-books based PBL. The results of the analysis of e-books, most eachers have not used interactive e-books with a PBL approach to provide an understanding of science. E-books that have not trained students' HOTS are also included in the low category because teacher has not set strategies, methods, models and lack of knowledge about technology. It can be said that interactive e-book based PBL are needed by teachers and students to improve students’ HOTS. Keywords: teacher perception, interactive e-books, problem-based learning, higher order thinking skills. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan persepsi guru tentang peranan e-book interaktif berbasis Problem Based Learning (PBL) dalam meningkatkan Keterampilan Berpikir Tingkat Tinggi (HOTS). Penelitian ini melibatkan 50 guru IPA SMP. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode campuran dengan Sequential Explanatory Design. Pengambilan data menggunakan kuesioner. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Hasil survei menunjukkan bahwa siswa memiliki persepsi positif terhadap buku elektronik berbasis PBL. Hasil analisis e-book, sebagian besar guru belum memanfaatkan e-book interaktif dengan pendekatan PBL untuk memberikan pemahaman IPA. E-book saat ini yang belum melatih HOTS siswa juga termasuk dalam kategori rendah karena guru belum menetapkan strategi, metode, model dan kurangnya pengetahuan tentang teknologi. Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the application of student worksheets based discovery learning to increase concept mastery student in the experimental class 1 and class 2 experiments.  The method used is pre-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest design to look at the increase in the value pretest and posttest in each class experiment.  The results showed that through learning using student worksheets based discovery learning can improve students mastery of concepts with high category in the experimental class 1 and class 2 experiments with each N-gain of 0.72 and 0.71. Keywords: discovery learning, worksheet, concept mastery. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan students’ worksheet berbasis discovery learning terhadap peningkatan penguasaan konsep siswa pada kelas eksperimen 1 dan kelas eksperimen 2. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pre-eksperimental dengan desain one group pretest-posttest design yaitu dengan melihat peningkatan nilai pretest dan postest pada setiap kelas eksperimen.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa melalui pembelajaran menggunakan students’ worksheet berbasis discovery learning dapat meningkatkan penguasaan konsep siswa dengan kategori tinggi pada kelas eksperimen 1 dan kelas eksperimen 2 dengan masing-masing N-gain sebesar 0,72 dan 0,71.Kata kunci: pembelajaran penemuan, lembar kerja siswa, penguasaan konsep.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v20i1.pp7-11

Abstract

This research was aimed to describe the effectiveness of Pre-Lecture Quiz to improving student’s creativity thinking skill on Arrhenius acid-base topic. The research method used was quasi experimental with non-equivalen pretest-postest control group design. The sample selection was done by cluster random sampling, obtained XI IPA 3 as experimental class and XI IPA 6 as control class. The effectiveness of Pre-Lecture Quiz was showed by the significant difference for average n-Gain of flexible thinking skill between the experiment and control class, for experiment class was 0.70 with high categorize and for control class was 0.48 with middle cateogorize.
