Abstract

Mathematical representation is an important aspect in learning mathematics. Problem based learning, one of the learning models that can be applied to improve the ability of mathematical representation and student learning activities. The objectives of this study were (1) to test and analyze the effectiveness of PBL learning assisted by hands on activity on students 'mathematical representation abilities, (2) to describe the ability of students' mathematical representation based on learning activities. This research uses mixed method research with concurrent embedded design. Quantitative research and qualitative research go hand in hand with quantitative research as the primary method. The research subjects were class X students of SMA 1 Wonotunggal. The results of the study show that the class with PBL learning assisted by hands on activity achieves an average, and complete classics reaching more than 75%. The mean difference test shows the students' mathematical representation of classes with PBL learning assisted hands on activity better than classes with expository learning methods. Subjects who have high and moderate activities are able to fulfill all indicators of mathematical representation ability. Subjects who have less activity have not been able to meet the indicators of mathematical representation ability. Indicators that have not been fulfilled are symbolic and verbal representations.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy and self regulated learning are important for students to recognize the role of mathematics in life and effectively manage student’s abilities in learning. This study aims to (1) determine the effectiveness of flipped classroom with whatsapp module on student mathematical literacy, (2) describe mathematical literacy based on self regulated learning by flipped classroom with whatsapp module. This research is mixed method type Pre-Experimental Design type One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research subjects were class VII students of Al Azhar Islamic Junior high school 23 Semarang. Based on the results of the study it was obtained that flipped classroom learning with whatsapp module was effective against mathematical literacy. Students with high self regulated learning experience stabilization in mastering the seven aspects of the mathematical literacy process very well. Students with medium self regulated learning, increased in communication, representation, using symbolic, formal and technical language and operation and using mathematic, and can be mastered very well, while other aspects are well mastered. Students with low self regulated learning, increased in mastering three aspects well, namely communication, representation, using symbolic, formal and technical language and operation and using mathematic tools. On the mathematising and devising aspects of strategies for solving problems can be mastered with sufficient categories. While the reasoning and argument aspects of students are still lacking in mastering it.

This study uses a mixed method with concurrent embedded. Subjects of this study were Xth grade students of SMK Pelayaran Semarang 2017/2018 school year. The subject of the study was based on the categories of students' initial entrepreneurial character, namely students with the characteristics of high, middle and low entrepreneurs. Qualitative data were analyzed by the average completeness test, classical completeness test, average difference test and improvement test. Quantitative data were analyzed using data triangulation techniques. The results of the study show that Problem Based Learning with nuances of Mathematics in Context is effective for students' mathematical literacy. Students with high entrepreneur character can achieve indicators of Communication, Mathematising, Representation, Reasoning and Argument and Devising Strategies for Solving Problems, although indicators Using mathematics tools and Using symbolic, formal, and technical language have insignificant errors.

Abstract

Mathematics learning is very important given in order to the students can have problem solving skills. This study aims to test the effectiveness of PBL assisted by the web on students' problem solving abilities and describe problem solving abilities in terms of student independence. This research is a type of quantitative and qualitative. The study was conducted in Bangsri 1 Public High School SMA Negeri 1 Bangsri in the 2018/2019 academic year. The research subjects were tenth grade students consisting of one experimental class with web-based PBL treatment and one control class. Then two people were selected for the category of high, medium and low independence. Hypothesis testing uses one-party t-test and average difference test. The results of the study showed that PBL was assisted by the web effective against students' problem solving abilities. Students with high independence criteria do not always have good problem solving skills, but they show a significant increase after working on practice questions. Students with moderate independence criteria also showed an increase in problem solving skills after working on practice questions. Whereas in the low independence criteria there are students with good cognitive abilities but the problem solving ability improvement is low.

Abstract

Mathematics learning is very important given in order to the students can have problem-solving abilities. This study aims to test the effectiveness of cooperative problem solving (CoPS) learning assisted by the GeoGebra 3D on students' problem-solving abilities and describe problem solving abilities in terms of students' GeoGebra 3D usage. This research is a type of quantitative and qualitative. The study was conducted in a junior high school named SMP Islam Al Azhar 14 Semarang in the 2018/2019 academic year. The research subjects were eighth grade students consisting of one experimental class with cooperative problem solving learning assisted by GeoGebra 3D treatment and one control class. Then two students were selected for each of the high, medium, and low GeoGebra 3D usage categories. Hypothesis testing uses one-party proportion test and average difference test. The results of the study showed that cooperative problem solving (CoPS) learning assisted by GeoGebra 3D was effective on students' problem-solving abilities. Students with medium and high usage categories of GeoGebra 3D can reach all indicators of problem-solving even though several indicators of problem-solving are achieved with insignificant errors. Students with medium and high GeoGebra 3D usage categories can implement the steps of problem-solving according to Polya's steps, even they are as good at the carry out the plan step. Students with low GeoGebra 3D usage category cannot carry out the Polya's steps well. Students with low GeoGebra 3D usage category faced difficulties to devise problem-solving plan, carry out problem-solving plan, and looking-back step is not done.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to analyze the effectiveness of the learning of IDEAL Problem Solving models based on Van Hiele theory assisted by Geogebra software and to describe students’ problem solving ability at each level of geometrical thinking. This research was a type of qualitative and quantitative combination research. The combination model of this study was the type of concurrent triangulation, the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods in a balanced way. Quantitative research sampling technique was simple random sampling in which this study was taken in one experimental class and one control class. The technique of selecting qualitative research subjects was non-probability sampling, where the taking of subjects was based on the level of geometrical thinking. The conclusions are obtained (1) IDEAL Problem solving models Learning based on van Hiele theory assisted by Geogebra software is effective on students' problem solving ability. (2) The problem solving ability of each level of Van Hiele's geometry thinking is that students at level 1 (analysis), they can understand the problem but cannot plan their solution well. Level 2 students (informal deduction), they can understand problems, plan, implement plans well, but they cannot check results. Level 3 (deduction), the students can understand problems, plan, implement plans, and check results well.
