Abstract

This research aims to investigate 1) students’ understanding of mathematical literacy. 2) Mathematical literacy level based on the mathematical reasoning of students with special needs (SSN) 3) Influencing factors. 4) learning process. 5) problems experienced. 6) Solutions to improve it for SSN This research was qualitative research. Data obtained through interview, quesionaire, test and documentation. The analysis techniques were data gathering, presentation, reduction, and conclution drowing or veryfiying. The data validity used triangulation techniques and sources. The findings show that 1) 3 regular students catagorized good, 1 regular students and 1 SSN were less good. 2) regular students were able to present statments, manipulate mathematics, and conclude logically while the SSN were not. 3) students’ understanding level, motivation and assitance. 4) motivation building, exercises, lecturing method. 5) no inclusive teacher, students’ low understanding, motivation and literacy level. 6) teacher traning, special assistance, exercises, lecturing method and giving trick and easy way.

Abstract

Abstrak. This study aims to analyze and describe the ability to think creatively in geometry learning with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The type of research used is descriptive-qualitative with research subjects 6 students selected by purposive sampling technique consisting of 2 students representing the group with high cognitive abilities, hereinafter referred to as the upper group with codes S-01 and S-02, 2 students representing the group with moderate cognitive ability, hereinafter referred to as the middle group with codes S-03 and S-04 and 2 students representing the group with low cognitive abilities, hereinafter referred to as the lower group with codes S-05 and S-06. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observation, document review, questionnaires and creative thinking ability test questions. There are five indicators of creative thinking skills analyzed, including: fluency, flexibility, originality, elaboration and evaluation. The results showed that the upper group met all indicators of the ability to think creatively at the level of lack of external relations, in the middle group 1 student met all indicators of the ability to think creatively at the level of lack of external relations, while the other 1 student did not meet the indicators of elaboration at the level of lack of internal relations and the lower group did not meet the elaboration and evaluation indicators at the level of lack-mixed relations.

Abstract

Abstract. Students grow up with digital technologies so that they have new attitudes and learning styles for learning. Gamification enhances the involvement of students with the material and problems encountered. In this papper, we reflect on the design of gamification experience in mathematics learning using augmented reality for helping students understand and solve real world problems. We focus on designing applications for game-based learning and solving real-world problems for learning environments. This study uses Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model (analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate). This study focuses in analyze, design, and develop step. The result of this study is the first feature of the application is facilitating the students to measure the real-world object using digital measuring tools, the second feature of the application is facilitating the student to explore real world problems that accompanied by a virtual pet through augmented reality then get credits points for solving the problems and use the point to upgrage the virtual pet . The limitation of this study is the application needed a special operating system to operate properly, the device needed AR Core embedded device. Our finding that designing gamefy application needed careful consideration of game features to enhance the students’ involvement and intentive in mathematics learning with excitement.

Abstract

Abstrak. Pyhtagoras' Theorem is a very important principle in mathematics, but many elementary students find it difficult to understand it. Therefore, this study aims to describe the quality of student responses in finding the Pythagorean formula. It is a descriptive-qualitative study to obtain a collection of students' thought processes and actions. The research subjects were selected based on their abstraction characteristics which could be classified into five groups. They are pre-structural, unistructural, multistructural, relational and extended-abstract. Students who become research subjects are elementary school students in Bengkulu City, Indonesia. The subjects of this study were twenty five people. The research instrument is the researcher himself who is guided by student assignments. Task-based interviews were applied to collect complete data. It is data collection using audio-visual recording. This data collection technique ensures that the data collected is complete and accurate. It is the genetic decomposition of the research subject. The results of this study are 3 students with pre-structural character, 5 unistructural students, 9 multistructural students, 7 relational students and 1 extended-abstract student. The conclusion of the study is that there are relational students who are able to coherently combine separate pieces of information and find the Pythagorean formula.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is logical reasoning in solving mathematical problems. But over time, the meaning of mathematical literacy also develops and is often associated with a person's ability to identify and understand problems in which mathematics plays a role in all areas of life. The purpose of this study is to represent Mathematics Literacy Problems in PISA leveling associated with ethnomathematics and can be used as examples to deliver teaching materials in schools. The research used is a qualitative descriptive study with the object of research is the Culture of the Kutai Society, which is represented in the Mathematical Literacy problem of the PISA Socio-Cultural Context Model. From the research, it was found that the Technique of Designing PISA Model Mathematical Literacy Questions Using the Socio-Cultural Context of the Kutai Community contained 3 things in designing the PISA model grids and math problems based on argumentation indicators. The problem design process is carried out by prototyping using three characteristics, namely content, construct, and language.
